Top class in everything, food, staff, atmosphere, location....very hard to beat

Scotts Bar and Restaurant, situated at Troon Yacht Haven is a local landmark overlooking the marina and providing a lounge bar and seated restaurant. The restaurant is beautifully appointed with aquariums and creatively appointed displays of wines etc. The experience earns 10 points for setting, and the menu copes with hungry yachting types but also for those looking for a more formal or social occasion.

I have eaten at Scott's in Queensferry several times, so had high expectations for the Troon restaurant. Overall, however, the experience here was very disappointing. The service was very slow and the waitress was not attentive at all; we had to ask to order, had to ask for the bill twice, had to ask for the card machine etc. The food was mediocre. The goat's cheese tarte tatin was a mound of cold, soft goats cheese on a circle of pastry that was obviously pre-prepared and oddly sweet. The seafood gratin was ok, but didn't have a proper parmesan crumb so was a bit one-dimensional; the sourdough served on the side was burnt. My wife had fajitas and the chicken was just oddly seasoned, with way too much lemon used. Desert was a dark chocolate delice that was obviously bought in - overly sweet and served with poor quality ice cream. Other than hotel restaurants this seems to be the only higher-end restaurant in Troon, but it leaves a lot to be desired.

Very good food and atmosphere. Service was what youd expect from a higher end restaurant. Lost one star due to the auto 10% service charge which is optional. I just think by adding it mandatory and leaving a customer to ask to remove it makes an awkward situation. We paid it but others might not want to.

Brash restaurant venue for birthdays and Saga holiday coach parties. Simpler dishes are the best. Lamb shank with mint pesto a disaster.

Great service, lovely ambience, and good food. Highly recommend the Cinnamon Pancakes they're delicious! Also great to see that they had local Scottish products like the hand soap in their bathrooms.

All top quality, not cheap, but if you want cheap then simply don’t go. There is a 10% service charge automatically added to your bill though, so be careful as that can be one hell of a tip on a meal for 4+

The steak l had was a bit chewy l asked for medium rare steak????!

It’s a wonderful place to have dinner. The service was okay, the food was good, the atmosphere was excellent.

Menu a little fishy for me but to be honest at a harbour i would not expect anything else. What i ordered was fine the chicken tempura starter was excellent and the main was adequate. But all in all no complaints and the staff were excellent. Thank you.

We cannot fault the food or atmosphere but one of our dishes came out on a dirty plate. After telling the waitress she promptly took the dish away to change it onto another plate. When she returned she insisted that the plate was not dirty and just had some slaw on it. However, the dish we had ordered didn't come with that particular slaw. Aka dirty plate!

Nice brunch with two friends on a lovely sunny day. Lucky they were able to fit us in as it was busy. 👍

Great food and service, lovely view of the Harbour if you're on the terrace. Fillet steak was tender, could have had a bit more flavour to it but was still good!

What's not to like, fab food, fab views, great service

I’ve been to Scott’s a few tomes, the view is the selling point. Out of the buzzwords restaurants the standard in this restaurant falls short of the others in Ayrshire for me. Our starter plates were marked and dusty so sent back and then coffee delivered on another dirty saucer. Not sure if soap marks or what but looks awful and dirty. Toilet doors a squeeze and I’m not large so imagine how someone larger feels as a squeeze to open it squeeze round and close. Service slow but food was lovely so that was all good. Attention to detail needed. Waitress skirt very short and bottom on show when leaning over table. Not very in keeping with hospitality and etiquette

Excellent covers food, service and atmosphere. Do not pass this place by make a detour, well worth it. Special before 7.30 £18.50 two courses does not compromise on quality or flavour

Super restaurant, lovely decor, excellent service and good food. Only downer was the Angus Wagu Burger - very disappointing to get a frozen pattie that was not made fresh on the premises.

Great restaurant with lovely views. A cosy interior or a bright conservatory area to choose from. The food was delicious and the staff incredibly welcoming and friendly. Worth checking if their lift is working if you have any mobility issues as the entrance is up some steep stairs. Based in the marina so lovely views out with a peaceful atmosphere inside

I have visited Scott's several times over the past few years and the food has never disappointed. Very busy for a mid-week evening, but still good service. Great looking out onto the marina with millions of £'s tied up going nowhere! Hopefully not too long before I can enjoy it again.

This is the perfect place for lunch with a friend. Great food, wonderful service and the view of the harbour is stunning. I definitely recommend Scott's for meals, drinks or coffees.

8 of us arrived a bit early for our booking and were seated at a table in the bar for pre dinner drinks ; great we thought, after 15 minutes still no one had asked what we would like to drink , after asking a second member of staff our drinks order was taken . We were eventually shown to our table, where our drinks arrived - well most of them. The starters were great. The mains were a mixed bunch , some excellent, some OK. And one inedible which was sent back , the service was so slow that we didn't have time for desserts, as we had taxis booked, thought that 2.5 hours would have been more than enough time for dinner

Very pleasant on the Troon Marina

Scotts Restaurant had been recommended to us. We thought we would try it on a recent trip to Troon. We drove through the entrance gates and parked in the generous car park at the Marina, this instantly made us feel quite exclusive. We walked to the entrance, enjoying the views of the marina and the boats docked there. On entering the restaurant, through doors saying “Welcome aboard” the colour scheme, lighting, and warmth of the place instantly attracts you and you want to be part of this club. We were met and were delighted to be shown to a large table with breath taking views of the marina. The restaurant was spotlessly clean, and the staff were well presented and polite. We were given menus and ordered our drinks. The menus they were clean and clear, and each dish had a description, so you very quickly discovered you were spoilt for choice. We had also been given a discounted menu with excellent choices, could things get any better? We ordered our starter and main course, and our drinks were served. My husband loved his soda water and lime. Our food was delicious, we slowly savoured every mouthful. The flavours were so exciting, and each had an additional flavours that you had not experienced before. To the point that you enjoyed every flavourful bite. The main course was served and again it did not disappoint, you began to realise that you could have made any choice off the menu and would love it! Each mouthful was moreish, and your desires were met. The service was perfection, a very slow comfortable pace to let you enjoy your excellent experience to the full. Then the dessert arrived, I had selected sticky toffee pudding, the plate arrived. As each course had got better and better this course should have had a drum roll. It was a warm date and treacle pudding smothered in butterscotch sauce and beside it was a portion of clotted cream ice cream, in addition you were provided a pouring pot of more warm butterscotch sauce, in my mind I though oh my goodness but as I was thinking this my hand had reached out and started to pour on the additional sauce all over my pudding , this created a sea of warm sauce that gently melted the ice cream allowing you to spoon a slice of pudding, ice-cream and sauce in to your ever grateful mouth. We ended our meal with a celebration coffee, I had a Latte and my husband a cappuccino, these were creamy and had a rich taste and smell. A pleasure. The service and ambience of this place, we did not want to leave. We cannot recommend it enough. So much so that we returned two days later and had breakfast, it also hit the target and we recognised customers who had been there on our previous visit, a popular place, thank you Scotts. Hopefully see you again soon.

Scott's is a nice place to dine depending on the day of week. Sunday/Mondays can be a bit over the place, but in general a good place to eat.

Excellent food. The acoustics and permanent background music (Why???) made it hard for us with hearing problems/ aids to converse.

Booked for lunch on Saturday. Was expecting it to be really good based on friends opinions. The restaurant needs a deep clean. I didn't feel comfortable putting my bag on the floor. Starter was Gambas Pil Pil and be lucky if there was enough prawns to fill 2 teaspoons. The main was seabass and the seabass was lovely but everything else was a bit tasteless. Had a cheese board between two to finish and again tasteless. The brie didn't really taste like brie. The wine was over chilled. Server was nice and pleasant but over keen as tried to take my husbands plate away before he was finished. There was a slightvsmell in the corridor to the bathrooms of urine. Half the toilets didn't have functioning toilet paper dispenser so have to go from each cubicle looking.

Good food, excellent value and even had a double Open Champion (3 time major winner) amongst it's clientele. Friendly staff (seemed to apply to every establishment in Troon), so plan a visit.

Wet n wild afternoon in Troon, sought refuge in Scott's after a quick Google search for nearby options. Absolutely cracking find. Lovely view across the marina and a cracking interior make this a superb place to spend a couple of hours and that's before I mention the food. I stepped out my comfort zone and had Cullen Skink to start (a first for me) a Vietnamese beef dish with glass noodles (not a fan of the noodles tbh but that's on me for not knowing the difference between those and regular udon or ramen, the veg and beef were incredible) finished off with a salted caramel sundae and a strawberry and white chocolate cheesecake. Technically the sundae was my partners but she couldn't finish the huge portion after a rather excellent pastrami sandwich and truffle fries. All in all an excellent afternoon in luxury while the wind was howling outside. Highly recommended.

Great place to try, the food was banging and the service was fantastic. I can strongly recommend the coconut chilli chicken main which was tasty, not too hot and very well priced too. I would definitely go again - thanks for a great meal 😜

Had the burger, which was obviously not homemade. Chewy and tasteless. Sticky toffee was lovely but looks as if it was bought in. Not the standard I would have expected. Daughter had same experience at Lido Troon

The food is excellent and so are the staff. The decor is amazing and the view is great. The only difficulty I had was when I used the "accessible" toilet - I am powerchair user. The toilet is too small but I spoke to a member of staff who very graciously accepted my comments and he even thanked me. Im looking forward to a return visit when the accessible toilet issues have been resolved

Dined at Scott's for lunch. Fish and chips was very disappointing. Two small goujons and limited amount of chips. Better going to the local fish and chip shop.

Booked here to celebrate my Mum's birthday. Mum has a lot of food intolerance and it is always difficult to find somewhere that can accomodate her. The team at Scott's were brilliant. Mum said it was the best meal out she has had for years! High praise indeed.

Visited Scott's with family. It was their first time there. They loved it. Food was delicious. Staff were great. Everyone of us will definitely return.

Came here to celebrate a 60th birthday - the staff were good, taking our cake and sequestering it away while we were having our meal. The food was good though the venison main felt a bit messily presented though it tasted okay. The service was let down by the fact that when the plates were cleared my soft drink was spilled by a member of staff but not replaced despite being half full. Menu is varied with many options to suit all tastes and the gateau of haggis was delicious. Sticky toffee pudding was very cinamonny and not delicious.

We had a lovely dinner here. Great seat viewing the harbour. Quality of food was very good. Blade of beef was superb very tender. Fish beautiful. Will definitely return.
