Scotts Bar & Restaurant in South Ayrshire

Had mushroom taco with squashed avocado. There was no avocado... and no taco. Served in a soft wrap tortilla so not sure why they called it a taco.

Brilliant place, biggest bowl of soup ever be warned

In for lunch. Starter was lovely but the main course was not good. The lamb (two end cuts) over cooked. Chuck and fat shocking.

Having had a couple of good meals here my last couple of visits have been less than expected. Lunch menu is very average food at premium prices, disappointed.

Bought a £50 voucher at Christmas time for grandparent who sadly took terminally ill and could not use in the time frame, asked for a short extension given the circumstances as voucher was out of date by 1 day and restaurant declined. Heartless money grabbers!

Enjoyed a cheeky bit of lunch & a pint before sailing to Arran. You wouldn't be afraid to take y'bird there!

Excellent food and could not fault the service.

Style over substance and expensive for what it is. Had to complain about the service. The £38 ribeye with sauce was vastly over priced and quite chewy. Quite a rowdy atmosphere. Not what we expected.

This restaurant situated adjacent the marina provides not only a view but excellent food. Charming surroundings with interior decor to soothe and compliment the menu. Wonderful destination if in Troon.

There is one problem. Mid dinner my girlfriend and I realised that there are lipstick marks on my glass of water. The restaurant clearly didn’t pay enough attention to the details. I’m not sure this is what I would paid that London price for. Also the numbers for vegetarian/vegan options at this restaurant is surprisingly low.

Had the haggis starter then lobster and prawn Mac and cheese. Fantastic food. Mac and cheese was a huge portion. I was a little worried the seafood would be over cooked in something like a Mac and cheese but it was spot on .

Everything about this restaurant is first class. From moment you arrive you feel like you have made the right choice. Set in a beautiful marina with plenty of parking, once you arrive the staff take care of you with a friendly and welcoming service. The menu is exciting and has plenty of options, would highly recommend the fish sharing platter to start which was delicious. Also very Reasonably priced for the quality of the food and experience. If in the area a must go to

Ate the catalan fish stew. Enjoyed it at the time. Was ill over night. Another person I know was there same day, (separate visit) and was also ill. Reported to the restaurant, who were quite defensive. It's usually good, but this has put me off somewhat.

Today, we made a last-minute visit and were lucky to be served by Ruairidh, who was exceptionally professional. We ordered a smoothie, but the first one we received was just iced fruit with no real smoothie flavor. Ruairidh immediately noticed that it didn’t look right and proactively offered to remake it for us. The fresh one he brought was perfect, and we really enjoyed it. Beyond the food, his service was the cherry on the cake—having someone like him is definitely a great asset to the place!

We had a fabulous time at Scott’s! The food was absolutely delicious, and the atmosphere was perfect for a great dining experience. The lobster mac and cheese was an absolute standout—rich, indulgent, and full of flavor. Highly recommend it! The service was excellent, and we’ll definitely be back

Good was absolutely brilliant. Pâté, sourdough bread, hummus, prawns. Coconut chicken, haggis,neeps and tatties. Sticky toffee pudd, selection of ice creams. Our server Grant, absolutely brilliant. Great atmosphere. Really nice staff.

Great place,very friendly staff that make me feel comfortable and looked after, amazing views and really clean. Place that staff cares a lot whether its customers or there role. I'm definitely coming back. Highly recommended to anyone. Thanks guys. PS don't forget to go to the sea side if you in the area just few seconds from Scotts. One of me favourite spots to parkup and just chill by the sea. Will put few pictures for everyone.

It had been a few years since I last visited Scotts, and we decided to try it again after spotting a good Itison deal to use while in Troon. The voucher included three courses from a set menu and a cocktail each. We started with a pornstar martini and an espresso martini, both were tasty and enjoyable (and strong). For starters, I had the woodland mushrooms with truffle on toast, which was disappointing—bland, with no noticeable truffle flavor, and in need of seasoning. My partner’s tempura prawns were much better. For mains, he had the coconut chilli chicken, which he enjoyed, while I had the sirloin steak frites, which was tough, chewy and difficult to eat. However, the peppercorn sauce and chips were decent. We both finished with sticky toffee pudding, which was lovely. Overall, the food was underwhelming, but the service was good, and the ambience and decor were great. We’d return for cocktails, but not for the food.

Delicious. Food was super tasty and fresh. Straws in the Cocktails kept dissolving as we had to keep stirring the fruit puree back in but besides that, amazing!!

A wonderful night celebrating my sons 21st birthday, the staff were very friendly and attentive with nothing being too much trouble. Food great as usual. Cannot fault Scott's Troon

One of my favourites in Troon. If you can get a window seat in the Terrace on a nice day, it's wonderful, overlooking the marina.

“Great Views, But Access to the Terrace is a Mystery” Scott’s has a stunning location with incredible views, but only if you manage to secure a table on the outdoor terrace. Despite visiting multiple times and even booking in advance, I still haven’t figured out the exact criteria for getting a table out there—it seems like a bit of a mystery. The food is consistently good, which keeps me coming back, but the attitude of the staff could use some improvement. A touch more politeness and warmth would elevate the overall experience. It’s a lovely spot, but there’s definitely room for improvement in how they handle guest seating and interactions

We visited Scotts Troon for what turned out to be our last dinner together in a restaurant, as my wife tragically lost her battle with cancer a month later. I wanted this to be a memorable and romantic evening, but unfortunately, the experience was marred by rude and dismissive service. I would've been my usual self by standing up and leaving, but my wife wasn't feeling her best, and insisted on enjoying a night out together even still. So I chose not to make a scene. Upon arrival, we were seated right next to the door, which wasn’t an issue initially. However, the intense heat from their heating system was unbearable, blasting directly onto us and making it impossible to enjoy our meal. When we politely asked to be moved, we were told there were no available tables because the restaurant was fully booked. This turned out to be untrue, as we observed several unoccupied tables during the hour and 15 minutes we were there. The refusal felt unnecessary, and the staff’s attitude came across as cold and, frankly, judgey. What made the treatment even harder to understand was that we were well-dressed and ready to enjoy a lovely evening together. Ironically, some of the other diners were in shorts and T-shirts, yet we felt we were being looked down upon. It made us wonder if the staff were uncomfortable with us as a married lesbian couple. We were polite and respectful throughout, but the vibe we received left us feeling unwelcome and excluded. The only saving grace of the evening was the food and drinks, which were undeniably excellent. We shared the haggis starter (my first time trying haggis) and a parfait starter – both delicious. For mains, we had six langoustines, which were beautifully cooked and flavourful. Dessert was equally stunning, with the Amalfi mess and brownie torte stealing the show. Paired with some perfectly mixed French martinis, the meal itself was outstanding. It’s quite shameful that what should have been a lovely, special dinner together, was overshadowed by unkind and dismissive service. Scotts Troon has potential with its excellent food, but the hospitality and treatment we received will forever tarnish our memory of the place. For that reason, I'm only giving it 1 star over all.

My wife and I treated ourselves to festive lunch. Treat it was not ! Processed turkey frozen roast potato no fruit in christmas pudding ( sponge cake) dribble of sauce no cherries or compote in sundae which was full of cream. Catering for mass market. Expensive disappointment at £60.00 !!

Beautiful food and things to choose from if you’re not a sea food fan. Parking looks onto the harbour which is nice. Visited during the festive period so all their lovely Christmas decorations were up. Will come back again.

Excellent restaurant, fish but not only. Very expensive, around £50 if you get a main course, a beer and a dessert. Elegant and refined furnishings, with lots of wood, but without being pretentious. The staff is very friendly, but it's a little difficult to understand when they speak. A little noisy when full. I ate here twice, and everything was really very good, both the meat and the fish. The ice cream is awesome! Bottom line: highly recommended!

Quick lunch with shared platter and drinks

Arrived just after 4, advised only bar tables left, even though restaurant not half full. Appreciate tables booked but if advised to vacate for a certain time, this would not have been a problem. However sat at the bar, under 3 air vents which blew cold air! Told staff 3 times about the cold air, was told they would look at it, never returned to ask if I was ok, and still no change to the cold air! Food- lobster & prawn pasta was delicious, but I had the fish & chips, clearly frozen French fries, you would think being a high end restaurant it would have been either chippy like chips or hand cut, especially since the dish was £17.95! Fish very greasy, but actual fish was delish. Desserts were lovely. Atmosphere, beautiful venue just very disappointed at cold air, lack of interest in our welfare and yes ok the 3rd occasion of saying about the vent, asking if want to move, but we were on our desserts! Bit late mate. Young lad at the bar was advised of the gents toilet cubicle having and issue, he then proceeded to tell the young girls at the bar, ‘someone has shit all over the toilet’. Not the sort of information you want to hear whilst eating! Will I return, ??? Don’t know, I’m sure I could find somewhere just as nice, as pricey and be a bit more respected

I visit Troon a few times each year and a meal at Scotts is always a highlight. The view over the harbour is stunning, the food is great - last time I ate wild mushroom tacos, which I would recommend - and the service is friendly, professional and swift.

Me and my husband went for a celebration of our recent marriage and it was 100% worth it. Was a little last minute and we weren’t sure what to expect but the staff 10/10 the scenery 10/10 and the FOOD 100/100 I will 100% be back and would 100% recommend this place , there isn’t many like it & the staff went above & beyond for me and my husband by serving us a celebratory desert platter and a beautiful smile ♥️

Stopped in on Wednesday for Lunch which we really enjoyed and would definitely recommend a visit. Before leaving I visited the accessable toilet as I have RA and was disappointed in how low the pedestal was it's far too low for someone like me. This needs replacing with a higher pedestal as soon as feasible.

Staying at the Salt Lodge, we took advantage of going to Scotts on our first night rather than going into Troon. We had pre booked, and on entering the restaurant, the staff were welcoming and friendly. The bar/restaurant was well laid out very modern and comfortable. The food was what you'd expect, nothing to shout about well presented, hot, and tasty if a little pricey if I had an issue it what we paid for the drinks 🍸 overall overly expensive example 1 x gin & tonic was over £9 that in itself stopped us going to the bar after our meal. Although the staff made up for that by being welcoming, friendly, cheery and not overly attentive.

Top class in everything, food, staff, atmosphere, location....very hard to beat

Scotts Bar and Restaurant, situated at Troon Yacht Haven is a local landmark overlooking the marina and providing a lounge bar and seated restaurant. The restaurant is beautifully appointed with aquariums and creatively appointed displays of wines etc. The experience earns 10 points for setting, and the menu copes with hungry yachting types but also for those looking for a more formal or social occasion.

I have eaten at Scott's in Queensferry several times, so had high expectations for the Troon restaurant. Overall, however, the experience here was very disappointing. The service was very slow and the waitress was not attentive at all; we had to ask to order, had to ask for the bill twice, had to ask for the card machine etc. The food was mediocre. The goat's cheese tarte tatin was a mound of cold, soft goats cheese on a circle of pastry that was obviously pre-prepared and oddly sweet. The seafood gratin was ok, but didn't have a proper parmesan crumb so was a bit one-dimensional; the sourdough served on the side was burnt. My wife had fajitas and the chicken was just oddly seasoned, with way too much lemon used. Desert was a dark chocolate delice that was obviously bought in - overly sweet and served with poor quality ice cream. Other than hotel restaurants this seems to be the only higher-end restaurant in Troon, but it leaves a lot to be desired.

Fantastic. Delicious food, very efficient and friendly service.

Very good food and atmosphere. Service was what youd expect from a higher end restaurant. Lost one star due to the auto 10% service charge which is optional. I just think by adding it mandatory and leaving a customer to ask to remove it makes an awkward situation. We paid it but others might not want to.

Brash restaurant venue for birthdays and Saga holiday coach parties. Simpler dishes are the best. Lamb shank with mint pesto a disaster.

Great service, lovely ambience, and good food. Highly recommend the Cinnamon Pancakes they're delicious! Also great to see that they had local Scottish products like the hand soap in their bathrooms.

All top quality, not cheap, but if you want cheap then simply don’t go. There is a 10% service charge automatically added to your bill though, so be careful as that can be one hell of a tip on a meal for 4+

It’s a wonderful place to have dinner. The service was okay, the food was good, the atmosphere was excellent.

Menu a little fishy for me but to be honest at a harbour i would not expect anything else. What i ordered was fine the chicken tempura starter was excellent and the main was adequate. But all in all no complaints and the staff were excellent. Thank you.

We cannot fault the food or atmosphere but one of our dishes came out on a dirty plate. After telling the waitress she promptly took the dish away to change it onto another plate. When she returned she insisted that the plate was not dirty and just had some slaw on it. However, the dish we had ordered didn't come with that particular slaw. Aka dirty plate!

Great food and service, lovely view of the Harbour if you're on the terrace. Fillet steak was tender, could have had a bit more flavour to it but was still good!

Nice brunch with two friends on a lovely sunny day. Lucky they were able to fit us in as it was busy. 👍

What's not to like, fab food, fab views, great service

I’ve been to Scott’s a few tomes, the view is the selling point. Out of the buzzwords restaurants the standard in this restaurant falls short of the others in Ayrshire for me. Our starter plates were marked and dusty so sent back and then coffee delivered on another dirty saucer. Not sure if soap marks or what but looks awful and dirty. Toilet doors a squeeze and I’m not large so imagine how someone larger feels as a squeeze to open it squeeze round and close. Service slow but food was lovely so that was all good. Attention to detail needed. Waitress skirt very short and bottom on show when leaning over table. Not very in keeping with hospitality and etiquette

Excellent covers food, service and atmosphere. Do not pass this place by make a detour, well worth it. Special before 7.30 £18.50 two courses does not compromise on quality or flavour

Great restaurant with lovely views. A cosy interior or a bright conservatory area to choose from. The food was delicious and the staff incredibly welcoming and friendly. Worth checking if their lift is working if you have any mobility issues as the entrance is up some steep stairs. Based in the marina so lovely views out with a peaceful atmosphere inside
