The Alvie Forest Food team served up some of the best Thai food we’ve ever had. A quiet time of year for them maybe - ahead of the Festive rush (?!) - but still a warm welcome. Literally - their yurt with woodburner was a fantastic place to wait for our freshly cooked order. Thanks guys - we will be back!

I made a special detour here after reading the reviews. I am sorry to say that, in my opinion, it wasn’t worth it.
The Pain au Chocolat was ok but the coffee was tepid and bland. If I hadn’t asked for a coffee I would not have known what it was - hardly any taste of coffee.
Maybe it was an off day
Delicious beef and veg curry pasties. Also sampled the brownie, chocolate butteries and frangipane tarts. All fresh and thoroughly delicious.
Do stop off and sample these delights
We were amazed at the welcome we were given, the crab we bought so fresh and tasty and the crab brioche we ate at the pier was wonderful, we will be back for more. We loved it. Thank you
5 stars is way too low. So so good. We came for breakfast our first day in Lerwick and loved it. They were so welcoming and the breakfast was great so we came back again the next day for some cake and coffee. We had the lemon drizzle cake and it was easily the best lemon drizzle we've ever had. The wonderful lady who was working at the till when we came in brought over a no bake lemon cake which was equally as good. Definitely a must visit during your time in lerwick and we can't reccommend the cake enough!
We stopped off here after seeing excellent reviews online and it certainly didn’t disappoint. We both had a coffee with a lemon curd and cream scone. We’ve been craving another since having it and would highly recommend this place if not for the scone but also the views and very friendly staff
Very impressed. Jenny and partner who run it are very sociable. Both very knowledgeable about everything on the island and were keen to talk me through what there was to see and do on Rum and all aspects of living there.
The shop also operates as a community hub and is a great place to meet and hang out with whichever islanders happen to be there. Everyone without exception was very friendly and welcoming.
You can get a tea or coffee there. Jenny didn't have any soup on but kindly said I could buy a tin and she'd heat it in the microwave.
The shop itself is really well stocked. Wish I'd known just how well stocked and I would have saved myself the weight and capacity of bringing things from the mainland.
Things I bought included a box of grapes, crisps, a tin of sweetcorn, soup and roll, a coffee, a laminated OS map of Rum, a pie, ground coffee, an Our Wullie gift box and tablet.
Things that were available included eggs, cheese, milk, fresh fruit and veg, bread, all manner of tinned goodies, pasta, rice, soft drinks, alcohol. The shop also operates as a post office some of the time. Perhaps best to get in touch if you're not sure whether they will stock something.
Definitely the place to head to when you land and to meet some really kind and interesting people as well as stock up.
Lovely friendly cafe offering a good variety of sandwiches, paninis, coffee, drinks and cake. Nice views of valley and golf course. Seating inside and out.
I had a nut butter beetroot carrot panini, my partner had local ham and cheese sandwich. Both came with fresh salad.
Parking area.
Glad we spotted this by chance!
Fabulous food and great service. Thoroughly recommend both the venison stew and the sea trout! Advisable to book as it’s not huge and it has a great reputation with the locals…
