The best restaurants in Moray Highlands and Islands

Travelling back from Aberdeen and not wanting to finish our first time away without our now adult children, we decided to take the West Coast route home, weather was delightful and the views splendid. Getting tired and hungry we found ourselves in Findhorn a beautiful place nect to the sea. We decided to drop into the Crown and Anchor to see if there was room at the Inn. Luckily there was so after unpacking we went down to the bar for a warm by the fire and a drink. The selection of beers and other refreshments was amazing. After a drinks we took a look at the menu and again not disappointed. We ordered and our meal came promptly. Two empty plates later we had a nightcap from the whisky selection then off the bed for a sound night sleep. The staff are excellent and friendly as are the locals. Came here for Lunch, it is a very popular and busy place. Food was great, although getting a table requires a reservation slip to be filled before you go to get food, which somebody took our table and of course the food went there when we moved. Great place to spend some time and wander round the shop too

Very crowded local pub. Tight seating areas. Some menu items were not available. We ended up ordering Moroccan style stew without any idea what it was, or what it would taste like. Probably a mistake. Ordering and paying at the bar in advance.

Came here for a drink a couple of days ago and we were impressed with the friendly service, and the vegan options, so came back for dinner. Not disappointed - lovely food and lovely service.

Great cafe. Great classic sandwiches. Superb Cullen Skink soup. Lovely shops. Excellent staff to help you along your way. Highly recommend this hidden gem.

Beautiful setting, really nice welcoming and friendly staff in both shop and cafe. Afternoon tea including one that was gluten free. The food was lovely. Will be back again to see the walled garden when they are in full bloom. Well worth a visit.

We stayed at The Mansefield Hotel during our visit to Elgin and also had dinner there several times. We already had a very positive impression when booking. Our contact via email and telephone was very helpful and friendly. Our room was one of the Superior Four Poster category and we really liked it. The hotel bar is very cozy and excellently equipped. The restaurant also has a very nice atmosphere and the food is excellent. We also visited the Mezzo Bar, which is attached to the hotel. Great cocktails are offered here. All employees are very friendly and accommodating. We can highly recommend the hotel!

Absolutely delighted today with lunch here. Have known this restaurant for over 30 years. Today, the younger family were fully up front and in charge. It was lovely to experience their skilks/food/competence. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal.

Awesome place with a gigantic choice of scotch whisky as well as a large collection of japanese whisky. This combined with a absolutley cozy atmosphere, delicious food and very very friendly staff makes it a fabulous place to spend the evening. I had the classic haggis balls as a starter, the fish&chips as main and toffee cake as a dessert. Everything was just outstanding. It was so good, we will pay it another visit tonight.

Happened upon this hotel on a day trip to Lossiemouth being mainly attracted to its dog friendly sign as we had both our dogs with us. We were seated in the dog friendly dining area and were welcomed by 2 very friendly staff who immediately got a bowl of fresh water for our thirsty dogs. The other key reason for this review was the excellent varied gluten free menu which was great for me, being a coeliac. The food arrived quickly and was delicious. The restaurant began to fill up rapidly as we were eating, prompting the serving ladies to politely inform every prospective diner that there would be a 30min plus wait for food but most opted to wait. We would definitely go back if in the area again. Thank you for a perfect lunch😊

Lovely restaurant with very friendly staff. Really good prices. Had coffee and the Victoria sponge which was absolutely divine. Will definitely be back.

Dog friendly No was offered to sit outside, drinks and food cash only. Food arrived then we had to ask for cutlery.We wathched people walk up to the door and then walk away as they had no cash on them.Ony one couple sat in the returaunt and us outside! We ask for a chair for my wife who has parkinsons and could not balance on the picnic bench. Oh dear sad to say so much potential ! Richard

We were taking a self catering break, based in Portgordon, and had searched online, for a dog friendly restaurant - luckily, the Mill house came up. We had an excellent evening. A really dog-friendly establishment with great staff - We, and our Black and Tan KC Spaniel (Milo) were made to feel very welcome and comfortable. Menue choice was good and all courses were tasty, good proportion, superbly prepared and presented.

Great stop for food after whisky tour at strathisla distillery. Staff helpful and service is quick even as a big group Good portions and the curry sauce is brilliant,

We recently moved up to Scotland from the west country and were recommended to try this place out ! We were not dissapointed super service, good potions and reasonable prices. It will be on our doorstep and we will most definitley be back-Thank Q
