As someone one else has pointed out, it’s now called the Spey Inn. Was there earlier this week for lunch as in area and parents recommended it from a visit a year or so ago. It was quiet but we got a friendly welcome from the two members of staff. My parents commented on the size of the menu which has apparently changed and did seemed limited in choices. 3 of us ordered the Cullen Skink soup. It tasted fine but not much fish ands lots of potatoes. Three of us then had sandwiches, the Club sandwich was very good, well filled with bacon, tomato etc and was tasty. Me and my mum both had the egg mayonnaise sandwich. It looked different in that it was 2 whole slices of toast which I thought may have been included in the description. That said I can live with this, however what was very unusual and disappointing was the quantity of filling in these two sandwiches. It appeared that there was a smear of egg mayo as in the quantity of butter you would spread on a slice of bread (and in this case it was spread onto 2 slices of thick toast). Without exaggerating it appeared that 1 egg had been used to fill 2 sandwiches . The salad that accompanied it was nice and the fish and chips the other member of our group had was apparently good. We did mention it to the server who said he’d mention our views to the chef, but it just seemed odd. We also mentioned to a member of staff at an early stage of our visit, that there was no soap in the gents toilets (you could clearly see the soap dispenser was empty when you walked in), however when leaving some time later this had not been rectified, despite the fact the restaurant was not busy. It wasn’t a cheap lunch and it was fairly disappointing overall. Unless this was a one off, don’t think I would return.

The Qismat is one of my favourite eateries in Elgin. Always an attractive restaurant, the recent refurbishment adds to the enjoyment of the dining experience. A comprehensive menu covers most of the usual Asian favourites. Prices are on par with other similar Elgin restaurants. Service has always been first class, and this was no different at my recent visit. Mr Ali, the proprietor is always on hand, giving friendly greetings to customers. Finally and most importantly, our meal was delicious.

Awesome place with a gigantic choice of scotch whisky as well as a large collection of japanese whisky. This combined with a absolutley cozy atmosphere, delicious food and very very friendly staff makes it a fabulous place to spend the evening. I had the classic haggis balls as a starter, the fish&chips as main and toffee cake as a dessert. Everything was just outstanding. It was so good, we will pay it another visit tonight.

We popped in here whilst touring in the area and were very impressed with the food and service. Hubby had the Chicken Tennessee Burger and I had the Chicken Parmiganio. Both dishes were cooked to perfection and I can honestly say it was the best Chicken Parmiganio I’ve ever had. It does advise that the meals are cooked to order and it could be up to a 30 minute wait but if you want great food it is worth it. The staff were lovely and very attentive. If we are ever back in the area we will definitely be coming back.

We both had the Cullen skink (I had eaten it once before here, hence the return). It was excellent served with a nicely heated crispy roll and a small butter. The portion was ideal, not too skimpy but not too big (as we know it is a filling meal with all the cream !). We also ordered drinks and everything was served in time with a friendly lady. My partner told her to compliment the chef and I am sure the comment was passed on as she popped out whilst I was at the bar to show me the special lunch time menu they had been doing recently - that looked good and also the whole menu looked great with plenty of choice. So we will return and may try something different next time but this is our 'go to' place for the Cullen skink :)

We were taking a self catering break, based in Portgordon, and had searched online, for a dog friendly restaurant - luckily, the Mill house came up. We had an excellent evening. A really dog-friendly establishment with great staff - We, and our Black and Tan KC Spaniel (Milo) were made to feel very welcome and comfortable. Menue choice was good and all courses were tasty, good proportion, superbly prepared and presented.
