My wife and I had a nice enough meal in the Kimberley recently, but thought that the service was a bit lacking. No one told us that table service was not available and we had to order from the bar. The food was nice enough.

We really enjoyed our dinner at The Kimberley Inn. It was cold and drizzly outside and the fireplace was raging, which felt great. The place is small but not stuffy and the service was friendly. We had the Carlsberg Pilsner and started with the salmon cakes and chowder - both were excellent. For main courses we had the salmon entree and mussels - So. Many. Mussels. Again, both were really nice. For a small place their menu is extensive and eclectic - not just the usual Scottish fare. I highly-recommend it!

Four for lunch on a Sunday was not a problem and we found a number of empty seats in the small patio area at the front.Four meals were ordered and all came in a reasonable time. The seafood dishes looked very nice and if you call I would recommend ordering that. The ciabatta beef sandwich was a different kettle of fish. The strips of beef were tough and stringy. They were smothered in limp slimy onions and were on the cool side. The drinks priced for tourists and were slightly higher than normal but were welcome on a hot sunny day. The problem I had was I requested a small glass of water to take some medication and was charged almost £1 for the privilege. It was not special mountain filtered unicorn tears, it was tepid tap water so a nominal fee for washing the glass would have been more acceptable.A nice place for a quick stop but not sure if I would make it a regular hosting place

We have visited the dog friendly Kimberley Inn many times over the past 3 years when on our annual walking holiday with our dogs and have written a good previous review for this Inn. However, our visit on 17th October 2018 was spoiled by their poor quality scallop dish at £12.75 per portion (3 oven baked scallops completely overwhelmed by thick bacon, oozing a white residue). As the bacon was the dominant product the description of "Scallops in Bacon" was misleading, it should have been "Bacon with Scallops". The manageress's off-hand retort to our criticism was "when we are busy, we don't have time to pan fry, so this is what we do do"! Not good enough Kimberley Inn and not what we expected after our good previous experiences of seafood and customer care. An apology would have been easy, but none forthcoming. We shall have to think hard about returning there on out next trip to the area.

I came to Scotland to visit a friend, and to look after her dog when she took a holiday. I have never met such a friendly and intelligent dog, and it turned me from a dog tolerant person into a dog lover. When she came back, she took me straight to the Kimberley Inn from Inverness airport, to thank me with a meal. Our reunion was spoiled by the rudeness of the staff. At first we were told to shorten the leash, because the dog was drinking from the water bowl, which was away from our table. We did that, and as we began to chat about how well the dog had behaved, the owner came up to us and was very rude to my friend, because the dog, so pleased to see her, had sat on the plastic covered seat next to her. As he continued berating her he said "no place would allow a dog to sit on a seat", my friend no longer wanted to stay, so she asked for her money back. We were refunded £25 cash.

Good food, lovely ambience. We’ve dined here many times but there is no attempt by the staff to make you feel welcome. I have never felt any personal service here. Felt like an outsider & maybe that’s intentional. Locals appear to love it.

As someone one else has pointed out, it’s now called the Spey Inn. Was there earlier this week for lunch as in area and parents recommended it from a visit a year or so ago. It was quiet but we got a friendly welcome from the two members of staff. My parents commented on the size of the menu which has apparently changed and did seemed limited in choices. 3 of us ordered the Cullen Skink soup. It tasted fine but not much fish ands lots of potatoes. Three of us then had sandwiches, the Club sandwich was very good, well filled with bacon, tomato etc and was tasty. Me and my mum both had the egg mayonnaise sandwich. It looked different in that it was 2 whole slices of toast which I thought may have been included in the description. That said I can live with this, however what was very unusual and disappointing was the quantity of filling in these two sandwiches. It appeared that there was a smear of egg mayo as in the quantity of butter you would spread on a slice of bread (and in this case it was spread onto 2 slices of thick toast). Without exaggerating it appeared that 1 egg had been used to fill 2 sandwiches . The salad that accompanied it was nice and the fish and chips the other member of our group had was apparently good. We did mention it to the server who said he’d mention our views to the chef, but it just seemed odd. We also mentioned to a member of staff at an early stage of our visit, that there was no soap in the gents toilets (you could clearly see the soap dispenser was empty when you walked in), however when leaving some time later this had not been rectified, despite the fact the restaurant was not busy. It wasn’t a cheap lunch and it was fairly disappointing overall. Unless this was a one off, don’t think I would return.

Today I used my Brodie gift voucher for Afternoon Tea. My husband and I enjoyed the tastiest freshly made sandwiches, quiche, sausage roll and a variety of sweet treats. Although busy the staff were pleasant and helpful.
