Today I used my Brodie gift voucher for Afternoon Tea. My husband and I enjoyed the tastiest freshly made sandwiches, quiche, sausage roll and a variety of sweet treats. Although busy the staff were pleasant and helpful.

Customer service is AWFUL! I went to return an item which I purchased a week ago. I had read the returns policy before going and as long as it was returned within 14 days a refund was ok. Returned item to be told that I had to take a credit note as the item was not clothing. I said to the manager twice that it did not say that on the website. Twice the manager choose to ignore me. I accepted the credit not unwillingly but had no choice. I asked her where in the shop could I spend the credit. She said anywhere including the restaurant. I read my credit note when I returned home and it clearly states not valid for use in restaurant. I called Brodie to ask about this. I was told the information on the credit note was wrong and I could use in restaurant. He said the would have to amend the wording. I feel for an establishment of this kind the returns policy and credit note wording should be absolutely correct. The manager should not have that title due to her arrogance and the company need to adhere to what is written in black and white on their website. Very disappointed ☹️

Beautiful shop with lovely items which unfortunately leads into a very confusing lay out for a restaurant. Went to first station to ask lady for help she stood and kept her back to us for 5 mins which we then gave up on. Got to breakfast area. We had to large breakfast. We then went to get hot drinks. Another lady looked at us and left us standing here for ten mins didn’t serve us. They another gentleman walks up stood beside us and she ran to him asking what can she get him. No idea what that was about. 15 mins later another lady came over and served us. By time we paid and got to table the food was freezing cold. The tattie scone was rock hard, wouldn’t cut with knife it was so hard. The slop of haggis is not haggis a nice little round haggis slice would be much better. We ate the sausage and had to leave all other items. They were awful. For such a high end store to serve such cheap rubbish is such a let down. We drove 4 hours there and 4 hours back to be so disappointed. Won’t be returning

My husband and myself have been coming to Brodie for years. However we didn't have a good experience yesterday .My husband was standing at the deli counter waiting to be served, the assistant was behind the counter fiddling around with something that didn't look important didn't even raise her eyes to look at him let alone ask what he would like,it wasn't until I walked over and said do you want something from here, that she reluctantly took notice and asked for you want something.Very ignorant and rude person could tell she wasn't happy.Perhaps you could train your staff that customers are not an inconvenience as that is how she made us feel.

Had a delicious lunch at Brodie! This is always on my list when I come back to Scotland, and I'm never dissapointed. Beautiful fresh sandwiches with THE most delicious coleslaw and salad garnish. Busy but plenty of parking and available tables. Lovely little shopping areas to look around and we purchased some very fresh and yummy strawberries grown only a few miles down the road. Love how Brodie stays consistently great!

Hadn’t been for a few years and met the lovely Anna ( whom I think is the stylish boss ) at a party some time ago and had heard about exceptional menswear . Bought loads at the deli and menswear and greetings cards - so great to have all under one roof - well worth the trip from Aberdeen .

We stopped for lunch and a stretch going from Aberdeen to Inverness. Well what a disappointment. I have eaten here many times, it’s a bit pricey, but has always been really nice food. Today Friday 5th, my wife and I both had the macaroni cheese. It was awful. The white sauce has no cheese through it, tasted bland, but it had a weird sweet taste too. The chips seemed to be a half portion and the peas were microscopic. At nearly 13 quid a head, the very least I expect from a Mac cheese is for it to be cheesy. For two Mac cheese and two cans of Coke Zero I paid 31 pounds. I don’t think I’ll be heading back there anytime soon.

No offer of refund or apology. This is second disappointing review I have given. Such a nice place but two out of two occasions when we have been disappointed.

A few years ago on the menu was omelette which I throughly enjoyed so for the last 4 years I have asked for one and always had one made, even when extremely busy. On our visit this year it wasn’t too busy and they refused to make one!! I was so disappointed! My husband got the dinner to find the vegetables were cold and the meat was minimal. It was really busy but we managed to get a table and had 2 scones and 2 coffees, at under £12.00 for two it was good value and would highly recommend. A great gift shop selection too, a little pricey for some items but I guess it goes with the territory. If you are passing and are peckish then do call in.

We often visit Brodie as a halfway house for a family lunch and it is always busy. We visited on Sunday and by 1pm there were no car park spaces left, so we had to wait a little while but eventually got parked. We enjoyed our Carvery Roast Beef lunches, the gravy and the Yorkshires are amazing and definitely look home made. The veggies were a little sad looking but it was really busy and I think they just hadn't been topped up. Service for food ordered was warned it may take up to half an hour but it was just under that, so no complaints there. Everyone enjoyed a wander round the shop afterwards and an ice cream out in the sun topped off a lovely trip. We will be back.

You'd be far, far better supporting local shops in the nearby towns where the products are actually local and prices that represent value for money or support local businesses. Local honeycomb small box £8 competing against 4X as large £10 honeycomb from Hungry. Just one example of many. It's easy on vacation to pay over the odds due to that feel good factor. Treat yourself or a loved one. I'd recommend local authentic experiences or products. Memories and a few products last a lifetime and can't be broken. They will not need dusting or spend their life in the back of a drawer and end up in a charity shop years later when you have a clear out.But maybe that's just me!!!

A pit stop here for breakfast. One of us had the wee breakfast which came stone cold, omitting to bring the tea and toast. Whilst I sipped at my latte waiting for my Brodie take on eggs Benedict, my travelling companion had subsequently finished their cold (hot) breakfast, I had to go chasing for my breakfast which had been forgotten about, we ended up eating at different times. The quality of ingredients were really good, local fresh produce, but come on wake up! At just after 1000 am on a Monday morning there is no excuse for poor customer service. Plenty of staff on but a typical Scottish experience, no Manager in charge, walking the floor and ensuring all customers leave happy and foot being served hot and at the same time as all the table.

My mother received a voucher for Afternoon Tea at Brodie. We have been on many occasions before and the food and service has always been good. So we were looking forward to our Afternoon Tea. Our experience was definitely different on this occasion! To begin with it wasn’t clear where we needed to go to place the order. The young lady on the food counter was not very welcoming or customer friendly, but we managed to chose our sandwiches were told they would be brought out to our table. The cakes and sandwiches arrived and we were very happy with the presentation of the food. We had chosen to have tea as our drink to accompany the food and received the standard pot of tea for 2 with extra hot water as mother likes weak tea. The sandwiches, sausage roll and black pudding bombs were delicious and we enjoyed them. We then turned our attention to the scone with cream and jam. We have never had jam so runny that it would not stay on the scone - there was no substance to the jam it was so runny! Disappointed with it but we were enjoying the rest up til then so decided to let it be. We moved onto the fresh cream meringues - well we have never been so disappointed! They were soft, sticky and tasteless! We couldn’t eat them and at this point we spoke to a young waiter to complain about them and to also ask if it was possible to get fresh tea, we were politely informed that “you only get 1 drink with your afternoon tea” ! We were very surprised at this as everywhere else serving afternoon tea supply fresh tea and coffee during the course of the meal! We still had cakes to eat but nothing to drink!!! The young assistant we spoke to said he would have to refer to his manager about the soggy meringues. The manager came and apologised for the meringues and offered a 2nd of one of the other cakes, it was only at this point that we were told what the other cakes were! This is something that usually happens when they are placed at the beginning of the meal! The manager also confirmed that only 1 drink was included in the meal, however he did offer to refresh our drinks at that point. We refused and just asked for a box to bring the uneaten cakes home, we were disappointed and didn’t want to stay to finish our cakes at this time. How can you eat sandwiches and cakes over a period of an hour with 1 pot of tea? Very disappointed and we wouldn’t be back.

I have family in Nairn, so I get to visit at least twice a year and have reviewed previously. With the pandemic it has been a couple of years so it was interesting to see how it has changed. The Covid restrictions were easy enough to follow and reassuring. The menu hasn't changed a great deal from what I remember. I don't think there's ever been a great vegetarian choice but what they have had available has in the past been good enough to detract from that. This time, the veggie burger has been replaced by falafel with flat bread and I didn't find it that appetising. The falafel could probably do with some work, that's coming from a connoisseur :-) The service was great and our food arrived quickly. The selection and my dish was a slight let down, hence a 4/5 rating.

New chefs? Gone downhill rapidly! Used to go to Brodie every opportunity we could but the last two times we’ve been (and spent a lot of money) have been a complete let down. The food is no where near as nice as it used to be. The beef Sunday roast is dry and tasteless. The beef has next to no seasoning on it. The empire biscuits are disgusting even the kids didn’t eat them. The service is good however the food needs a shake up and quickly! Are there new chefs? Have Brodie cut back on quality and now brought in sun standard ingredients and produce? Have they been told not to season food? So many people we have spoken to recently have said they didn’t enjoy their meal at Brodie. What was once a great place for food is now a let down. Such a shame but won’t be back until I speak to someone that’s enjoyed their meal. No doubt covid will be used as some sort of excuse but it’s no excuse for sub standard food.

Last week my wife and I were very unpleasantly reprimanded by the manager for not providing individual details for 'track and trace' even though we are from the same household. He said that under new rules this had to be done separately for each individual visiting the restaurant. Today we went back and tried to provide these details separately but they just weren't interested. This lack of consistency suggests he is clearly not doing his job properly when it comes to the training of staff. He also needs to improve his manner when dealing with customers.

Had a lovely breakfast. I had poached eggs with asparagus and wastle bread and it was really tasty . I really enjoyed it Covid measures are good, and feels like it’s well orchestrated and it’s table service once you orderThe coffee was also good. The only issue I had this visit was everyone at our table received their food at different times

Mum and I took the afternoon to take a trip to Brodie’s to do some Christmas shopping and have a bite to eat. We had such a lovely day, Brodie’s has a fantastic range of products from designer handbags and shoes to every cheese you could possibly think of and we found it very easy to be able to pick something out for everyone. The atmosphere was friendly and the staff were very helpful.Given the current situation which has been so hard for every business there were very good covid measures in place that made us feel very safe and comfortable. The afternoon tea was delicious. A must visit!

Good surroundings, a nice place to sit and enjoy a coffee but the iced ginger cake is absolutely tiny - only half of what you would expect to get for the price. Very disappointing.

This is just sad reading some comments. We, a party of two, had a 40 mins wait for a table for lunch. When eventually buzzed in we were shown a table in the cold, atrium part of the restaurant. Unpleasant to say the least. Staff, I think are doing their best, however , the friendly atmosphere has definitely gone. It feels like more tables have been removed, again ? We were there a few weeks ago. The length of wait is also questionable as there was a distinct lack of speed in clearing tables. Not sure what is going on now and things seem to have taken a backward step. Standard of food for us was good but is getting expensive for the conditions you have to sit in...yes, it will only get colder if they don't sort something out and will put even more people off visiting. There is only so long people can walk round your lovely store. I think sometimes that "Covid restrictions " are becoming too easy to use as a reason for some poor practices.

My family and I have been regular visitors here since I was a child, but after the last visit we have been slightly put off. We visited last week for a birthday brunch, but we left disappointed. We were seated on a table that was soaking with crumbs on it, we assumed the waitress would be back to clean it, but unfortunately she never. When we asked politely for the table to be cleaned, the young lady working had a bit of an attitude and muttered something under her breath which set an uneasy tone. As she cleaned the table she wiped the previous tables’ food onto our laps with no care whatsoever. I really had to convince my family to leave the house that day, thinking Brodie would be a safe and clean environment for us to eat, unfortunately this didn’t feel the case. Looking around there were lots of dirty tables, and the person cleaning tables was just wiping all the food from the tables onto the floor with the same dirty piece of blue roll, which doesn’t look great. Unfortunately on this occasion the food was below average which I will admit isn’t the norm, the coffee was cold and the scones were hard. We will be back, but I hope for a more hygienic, friendly experience.

This is a wonderful shopping experience. The variety of goods is fabulous, and you can never leave empty handed. The cafe is great with a very good menu. At the moment, thanks to Covid all meals were delivered to your table which made me feel very safe. Well done!

This is the second lunch I have had here in the past couple of months. First time it was ok. Chips were not fresh cooked and were tasteless but it was ok.Today however I felt so annoyed I felt I had to share my experience. When my elderly mother and I entered a staff member told us at the door the restaurant's waiting time was 30 to 35 minutes. We had no issues with that and did some shopping. We were later buzzed to oyr table and I went to place the order. 1 starter and 2 main dishes. We waited about 20 minutes and all the dishes were served at once. I asked the waitress about this and said the food would go cold but she was not that bothered and told us to enjoy our meal.My mother only ate half her soup as her main meal was going cold.WE never enjoyed our lunch because of this.To be honest the food was not worth the wait.A huge slab of bread accompanies the soup but the 1 portion of butter only covers a half of the slice. My quiche was so cold it was tasteless and the fish and chips were cold and once again the chips were pasty and tasteless.I raised the issue of cold food with the man in charge of the buzzer stating it was a poor system that all starters and main dishes were presented at the same time but he apparently struggled to get my point then passed comment that they don't really do starters and main....strange comment to make beside the huge blackboard quoting restaurant menu....?He was so disinterested to the point of being rude I explained again the food was cold due to this but he looked past me to a customer behind me shouting..."can I help you?". I just shook my head in disgust and asked him...."Do you care?". Clearly not.We then walked to the till to pay for items we bought and a very brusque young lady barked at us asking if the items in the basket were one purchase or 2...? Her manner was very direct with an elderly lady....not very friendly at all.Overall, a poor dining experience and a disappointing customer service approach. Brodie has a monopoly somewhat due to Clovis restrictions meaning many other eating houses are not open....sadly....but their approach is poor and they need to remember it's not all about churning customers through and getting their cash....it should be about the customer experience.Sadly today for us it was a poor one.I hope other establishments open soon

Attended for afternoon tea today. The standard of the food presented and the service could not be faulted. It is not often as Coeliacs we can feel we get a safe service and the same value for money as a “normal” customer. I emailed ahead a few days earlier & got a quick response and a very attentive & understanding reply. Simon, the restaurant manager showed a very professional understanding of our dietary needs. All COVID guidelines are being followed. Thank you to Simon and the staff for making our visit enjoyable & a no fuss experience. Highly recommend to anyone but especially those with dietary needs.

visited this restaurant on Sunday not for the first time but maybe the last time. The social distancing is well attributed but the meal was such a disappointment my husband had the Brodie Burger ok he said but the chips were cold and soggy ,I had haddock the batter was greasy and chips also cold and soggy quite unpleasant. The overall hygiene I felt was lacking there were a rather significant amount of flies buzzing around, my husband spent a good few minutes trying to get them to go away. The table opposite us one of the chair backs had 6 landed on it . I also observed a young lad clear away the table with a tiny bit of blue paper cursory wipe over the above mentioned chair wasn't even wiped , believe me I'm not the only person to have been bothered with flies . Gone downhill at a rate of knots and I'm not convinced Covid 19 to blame . Very very unpleasant experience.

Stopped here on our journey south. Four years since we were last here. Brilliant as ever, stocked with wonderful Scottish gifts, clothes, books, toys and a fantastic deli. Scotch eggs were delicious. And their home made empire biscuit to die for.

When returning from Inverness airport on a Monday afternoon, we stopped here for a break.Ample space in the wooded car park, then a short walk to the main building. A look around the various lavish stores, then into the large, open restaurant. Not many customers when we visited, therefore lots of space.Friendly-ish, efficient staff. Everything was clean and tidy (apart from the male toilet, with paper towels all over the floor).A nice hot chocolate and cake. There was a deal on, which was excellent. A drink and cake each x 4 people, was a total of approximately £9.50!We'll be back.

We’re on holiday in the area and visited today. When we arrived the car park was very busy so we feared that we wouldn’t be able to have lunch as planned. However on arrival at the restaurant we were given a ‘buzzer’ and told that the wait would be 15-20 minutes. We browsed the shop for around 15 minutes and were then called to the restaurant. Everything was very well organised, the tables were well laid out, and there was no queue to order food. Without exception the staff were very courteous, friendly and helpful. The service was prompt and the food very good indeed. After lunch we browsed the shop, tried on some clothes and made some purchases. The staff facilitated this with their encouraging and friendly attitude despite the extra effort they currently have to go through when people try on clothes. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit today - well done everyone at Brodie Countryfare and all the very best for the future.

I love going to Brodie Countryrfare Restaurant as the food is always delicious and the staff friendly. This place can be very busy at times and despite loads of parking in the wooded area it can still be difficult to get parked. It is so popular here that they had to build an extension to provide more seating due to the amount of visitors. They also sell some unusual gifts and household items that you don't find in other shops, and it's a must go place at Christmas especially if you have kids. The sweets and deli department sell their Brodie scones and you have to be early to get some because they are delicious and sell out quickly. They also stock a lot of local produce and other unusual food, drink, equipment etc.A great place to visit for a relaxing lunch and shopping (if you get parked)

As someone one else has pointed out, it’s now called the Spey Inn. Was there earlier this week for lunch as in area and parents recommended it from a visit a year or so ago. It was quiet but we got a friendly welcome from the two members of staff. My parents commented on the size of the menu which has apparently changed and did seemed limited in choices. 3 of us ordered the Cullen Skink soup. It tasted fine but not much fish ands lots of potatoes. Three of us then had sandwiches, the Club sandwich was very good, well filled with bacon, tomato etc and was tasty. Me and my mum both had the egg mayonnaise sandwich. It looked different in that it was 2 whole slices of toast which I thought may have been included in the description. That said I can live with this, however what was very unusual and disappointing was the quantity of filling in these two sandwiches. It appeared that there was a smear of egg mayo as in the quantity of butter you would spread on a slice of bread (and in this case it was spread onto 2 slices of thick toast). Without exaggerating it appeared that 1 egg had been used to fill 2 sandwiches . The salad that accompanied it was nice and the fish and chips the other member of our group had was apparently good. We did mention it to the server who said he’d mention our views to the chef, but it just seemed odd. We also mentioned to a member of staff at an early stage of our visit, that there was no soap in the gents toilets (you could clearly see the soap dispenser was empty when you walked in), however when leaving some time later this had not been rectified, despite the fact the restaurant was not busy. It wasn’t a cheap lunch and it was fairly disappointing overall. Unless this was a one off, don’t think I would return.

Popular coffee place offering good choices of teas / coffee / other drinks with cakes / pastries / sandwiches. Although generally busy there is plenty of seating for individuals, families or groups. Free wifi offers the chance to catch up with your social media and / or even work related. Handy location on the main street - a good place to stop by and simply take a few minutes to slow down. Sit in or takeaway available. Dog friendly!
