We stayed in the hotel this weekend as a birthday getaway for my husband and decided to eat here as well. The setting is lovely, we started with a whisky tasting with a knowledgeable young lady. Everyone is treated as a group, so we had our tasting together and went through to dine together on one big table. The group style dining was quite noval but very enjoyable. The meal itself was lovely. We had canapes to start then we had soup. This was simply delicious and my husband claimed it was the best soup he'd ever had. The 'fish' course was a slight let down as my husband is allergic to fish. I felt instead of crafting a course for us, they had simply made a fish course and cooked a bit of chicken instead. It just didn't feel like a cohesive dish. The main course of melting beef and pudding of gingerbread Panna cotta was delicious. Our hostess paired whiskies with every course (wine pairing was also on offer) and my husband reports this was done expertly and greatly added to the experience. Finally we all retired to the fireplace for tea and coffee.Highly recommended and we would be back if in the area again.

We booked online for a party of 14 and revived a very quick response and confirmation. The atmosphere and service was great, the food however was absolutely spectacular. The specials of scallops were enjoyed by a lot of my colleagues and the tuna with tempura prawns were absolutely fantastic. The kitchen was also able to cater for my colleague who is gluten free and they also enjoyed their meal!

A magically quirky dining experience that redefines what a 5 star meal can look like 🤩. If you’re happy to do things a little differently and go with the flow, you’ll love the oystercatcher! The service was super friendly and the food exceptional. The garlic butter lobster and duck fat chips are not to be missed - probably the nicest lobster we’ve ever had - and bought direct from the local lobster boats! Space here is limited with one group seated per hour, which means that the service is really personal. There were so many amazing little tasters and extras served throughout the meal which meant that we left feeling absolutely stuffed (in a good way!) . The heather (grown in the back garden) and honey tea and homemade shortbread was a lovely way to end the meal. Something that we wouldn’t have ordered if choosing it ourselves from the menu but we really enjoyed it! The place is packed with quirky curios - from the oyster shell garlands around the walls to the port pourer. And the wine menu alone is something to behold! 100s of wines to suit any price range. We had an amazing Gewürtztraminer. The owners are in their retirement and looking to sell so we’d definitely recommend a visit before you no longer can 😢

A good, clean honest family run business in Tain. Heather your hostess is great. Bed comfortable, linen clean and fresh, rooms basic but very clean, shower excellent. Food well cooked and a good selection. Breakfast very good to excellent. Value for money 100%! Walls a bit thin, so much so I disturbed my neighbour Becky with my snoring. Sorry Becky! Hope I didn't upset you too much.

Was lovely to find a restaurant that caters for gluten free food. It is in a lovely big centre, which was full of locals (always a good sign). With good views out of the windows. The Mermaid statue is on the beach near here. I enjoyed a gluten free bacon sandwich. A section of their menu is marked as gluten free, have attached a photo. Staff were very welcoming.

Visited today and ordered 2 drinks and 2 steak pie dinners. Service was fine but we could not eat the food. The meat was inedible. We couldn't cut it never mind chew it. The young waiter returned it to the kitchen, returned to apologise and agrred with us. Then he said there will be no charge... ....... really. Why would we pay when we had no food. Left and went elsewhere.

Lots of lovely cakes to choose from. Strawberry tarts are by far the best! Much nicer than the Harry Gow ones!!!!! Rolls were fresh and my son loved the biscuit person. Aero slice was not the greatest that I have tasted. Worth a visit if in the area.
