We were delighted to find this was open around 2pm on a Sunday, allowing us to enjoy a tea/coffee and a slice of delicious Carrot Cake before the second stage of our afternoon walk. It's so difficult to find places open in Winter, more so on a Sunday, so we were very grateful. We had a warm welcome, the interior is cosy and comfortable, and you get a lovely view across the greens from the big windows. The food menu looked enticing - with a couple of vegetarian options - so we'd like to pop back one day for a proper meal.

A delightful owner runs an excellent bistro within the premises of the golf club. The food is freshly made to a high standard. There is a good selection on the menu in addition to the daily ‘specials’. My bacon, chicken and cheese sandwich was really tasty and my wife’s Brie, chicken and bacon wrap came with excellent French fries. The service was very friendly and quick and the whole ambience was of a bistro rather than a clubhouse - you did need to pay a £1 membership to cover the legal aspects of using the golf club facilities. Overall it was a great place for lunch - catering for all activities!

Quality bistro with a varied menu. Newly refurbished in a lovey setting overlooking the golf course. The food was excellent; best macaroni cheese ever, home made tartare sauce with the scampi and catering for gluten free need. The coffee is also a highlight if you like string but smooth barista made coffee. Highly recommended and we will definitely go back.

This is the second time we have been at this cafe. First time it said it was open but went there on a Wednesday lunchtime & it closed to public then. Went today - very busy & service slow. Menu on board - the 2 things I would of liked to eat had sold out! So we left. Disappointed in this cafe 😩 what do you think?

Surprised to find that, despite several signs, there was no coffee nor cake available on a Sunday afternoon. There was the offer of the coffee machine being switched on to provide hot water for tea but with the warning that this would take a while.

We enjoyed a late lunch here after golf and a walk to the lighthouse. Very tasty, prawn open sandwiches and a cheese and ham ciabatta both with a good side salad. Cakes brought home for afters too. Thoroughly recommend this little place next to the golf course. Tables inside and out with views over the golf course.

I visited Tarbat & Bistro Bar with my girlfriend for some lunch and it couldn’t have been a better experience! From the super friendly staff, to the amazing food and vibes, there really was no flaws with this place. I ordered the Halloumi Ciabatta and it was easily a 10/10. If you’re ever in Port or passing by, get yourself over to Tarbat Bistro as you won’t regret it!

We arrived late for lunch. Nothing was too much trouble for Granny Anne. Our sandwich was lush and the home bakes were the BEST ever. Donna (owner) is beautiful inside and out. And locals Bob and Scott were so welcoming The golf club made our visit to Portmahomack so special. Thank you ❤️ xx

We went for the first ever Sunday Lunch at Tarbat Bistro and it was amazing! The roast chicken and beef were cooked perfectly and they were accompanied by all the best trimmings! Other people at my table had the salmon and the risotto which they absolutely loved😍 The brownie was also the best brownie we had ever had! There was nothing but praise for all the food from our table of 8 people😀 It’s a perfect place to have a few drinks at night, food throughought the day or just a coffee and homemade cake. The Bistro itself is also in a beautiful setting overlooking the golf course, with a great atmosphere inside from the locals. The owners who run the Bistro are so welcoming and genuinely lovely people, which has a huge positive effect on the experience of the visit! Portmahomack was missing a place like this and I could not recommend it enough. A little gem in the Highlands of Scotland💎

Very good food and typical Scottish decor. Service was very attentive and friendly. The chef knows his craft. The steak, for the non-fish eater, was a treat.

We went for takeaway before getting ferry to Stornoway. Ordered an egg roll and bacon and egg roll. On opening when we got to our car we could not believe how poor they looked. Toasted stake rolls, overdone fried eggs and overdone bacon. Will not go back to this cafe again!

Popped in here recently on a trip through Wick to Dunnet Head - Got a cheese & tuna toastie and a latte which were both excellent. Owners were really friendly and the price reasonable considering the location - Have a feeling they could charge 2/3 times the price - being on the NC 500 - but choose not to. Will certainly return.

Visited today and ordered 2 drinks and 2 steak pie dinners. Service was fine but we could not eat the food. The meat was inedible. We couldn't cut it never mind chew it. The young waiter returned it to the kitchen, returned to apologise and agrred with us. Then he said there will be no charge... ....... really. Why would we pay when we had no food. Left and went elsewhere.
