Only ad a chip buttie. Awful chips. Didn't taste nice at all, and no butter on mi bread cake. Asked for salt n vinegar and got none. I was only stopping in the village for work and if Im ever here again I will not be going to this chip oyl.

I requested a plaice fish supper for my lunch and the owner brought the fish raw out of the fridge and breaded it fresh on front of me. I really miss eating fish n chips from this establishment. I was only in the area to take my dog for his booster vaccine at the vets. I gave five stars for everything. I was glad to have gotten my lunch though before the school kids came in. It was a bit intimidating and I was glad to get out. Don't they have a refectory anymore in schools? The food was fantastic. I really enjoyed it. Thank You Silver Tide.

Got myself some chips and battered sausage from here what can I say chips were spectacular crispy outside soft in the middle and the battered sausage was perfect thin crispy batter cooked sausage my kids had chips and ate the whole lot I would recommend averyone in tain to use this chippy staff were so polite they knew the locals by name and their kids which is brilliant to see it shows that they back all the time they take phone orders so ring up order then pick up price is good for the portions you I'd give u ten stars if I could

Superb fish and chips. I had fish bites and chips with curry sauce for a meal on the road and I haven't had such a decent version for years. I'd say I'd go back but it's over 400 miles away from me now, which is a crying shame. If you're in the neighbourhood, go pay them a visit. It's absolutely worth it!

Amazing fish and chips worth the traveling from Dornoch

The Silver Tide is an excellent wee chipper in Tain. We popped in on a quiet Tuesday evening while holidaying in nearby Grannies Heilan Hame. The chip shop on the campsite is simply rotten, poor portions, high prices, and terrible cooking. This was a huge improvement. The food, Fishcake supper, Macaroni Pie supper, White Pudding supper, and a kids Fish Finger supper were universally enjoyed. The best thing about Silver Tide is the chap behind the counter. He was a Twinkle eyed tonic, entertaining our young grandson and was friendly and cheery from the moment we walked through the door. This was a great choice. 👍👍

Whilst here I received great service from some friendly staff. There was almost no wait time for food but we could see that they were frying everything fresh. The portions were big and tasted great. I will be back here if I am back in the local area.

Fresh fish, good size portions, cooked properly with fresh oil and very friendly service

This was a large portion. Having travelled the length and breadth of Scotland, England, Wales and Ireland, we get to sample a LOT of chippies. This was a very average portion of chips, tasty, freshly cooked, could have done with a little more time in the fryer. Disappointing was the stingy portion. Not enough for two to share. Much better chippies out there.

Really delicious good quality fish and chips for the price 1000% recommend. Very good portion sizes. Server was very nice and friendly too.

After a disastrous day travelling south from Orkney, my wife and I stopped in Tain for a Fish Supper. The shop had just closed as it was past 9pm but the owner kindly reopened and did 2 of the best Fish Suppers we have had in years. Everything was cooked fresh and we arrived home in Dundee at 1am full and extremely grateful.

On route to working in Thurso we dropped in for some cheesy chips. Did the trick and filled us up.

First visit on Monday was awesome and food so fresh. Went again later in week, Wednesday. Fish was rank and did not seem fresh. Smelled very fishy and strong which is a sign of old fish. Did not enjoy and was put right off. Won't be going there again. Inconsistent quality and standards.

Always went to the other chippy in Tain. Went to Silverside tonight for the first time for a change. Best sausage supper had, lovely chips, me and my partner throughly enjoyed our food! Had to wait a few mins for it to be cooked but well worth the wait. Will definitely be place of choice from now on for rare chippy treats.

We were on route home after a full day or surfing the north coast and stopped in Tain for some well deserved munch. Banging fish and chips. Chips were nice and crispy on the outside and fluffy inside. Class. My travel companions were well impressed with the battered sausage supper 👍👍👍👍 Also the owner was really friendly and nice. Thanks very much! Going to make it my regular post-surf chippy spot now.

Orded 3 pieces of southern fried chicken expecting ya know, southen fried chicken 🍗 < , i wasnt expecting three thinly sliced pieces of chicken breast that were nuclear hot on the outside and stone cold in the middle, disappointed isnt the word i would use, but besides that they are friendly and welcoming

Absolute amazing service & based on our experience last night, I could not recommend them highly enough. They were in the process of closing up & pretty much ready to shut shop. We turned up at the last possible minute & with a smile and welcoming demeanor they re-opened & served our party of 9. Then a group of touring bikers turned up & they welcomed them too a few minutes later. The fish & chips were spot on. Great portion sizes and cooked well.

Doesn't look like much from the outside, but possibly the best haddock I've had from a fish and chip shop, ever. My local in London wins awards all the time, this is way better flavor fish, and lighter oil. We stayed in the area for 3 weeks and it became our Sunday ritual. They do still use styrofoam packaging but are happy to wrap good just in paper of you ask. Friendly and fast service too
