Wanted to love it but was quite disappointed in the meal, particularly considering the price point and that it’s marketed as fine dining. Service was disjointed (servers were very nice though) and food was mediocre.

The most horrible experience we had! Food was average at best and the service was unprofessional. Even though we had a reservation confirmed, they couldn’t seat us in the main dining room and took us to the bar on the first floor instead - atmosphere was dull and cold. It was better if we had dined at home to be honest. Overpriced and ridiculous really. Don’t recommend. Another couple were in the same boat as us and decided to leave.

Exquisite flavors in every dish and carefully presented. We came to celebrate a personal event, and the staff made us feel much welcome and appreciated. The whipped miso butter that comes with the focaccia is pure gold! Small, intimate dining room with just a handful of tables close together. It was an elevated experience nonetheless, perfect treat for a special occasion.

Scorrybreac is continually inventive, and stealthily filling for what "appear" to be small plates! Really they should be going forward for a minimum of a Michelin rosette if not already heading towards a star. Really very good.

Cozy vibe, heartwarming service, spectacular food and budget friendly price for fine dining. If you are looking for all these elements in one place, here is the best choice you can have in Isle of Skye. Dined 7th September. My seafood starter had watery foraged seaweed in the sauce which was thin and acidic. The mussels in my main were good (as they should be in this part of the world) but the sauce was lacking in depth of flavour and the accompanying focaccia was all wrong: there was far too much dough in relation to crust. The atmosphere was rather cloying with too many tables in a small room. There is another fine dining option on the island which is immeasurably superior.

Tiny restaurant with fixed seatings so everyone arrives at the same time and needs to be fed at the same time - as a result the service was a bit spotty - the waitress forgot to bring my cocktail. The food was a bit uneven. Focaccia is a course! The squash and roasted pumpkins seeds was fabulous! The mussels were well cooked but lacked flavor. My takeaway from the evening was overpriced and pretentious.

We were very much looking forward to our meal here but whilst the food was good, our enjoyment of the meal was affected by the spacing of the service. We ordered drinks to start our meal and before we knew it the first two plates were on the table. Then came the sole and we had told the waitress only one of the party would be eating this, so then 20 minutes passed before we reminded her and she brought out a vegetable based dish which was excellent but then we waited again another 20 mins for the final meat dish. The concept of small plates and coming at different times we are on board with, but not eating each plate in isolation. We could see how tastes would compliment and more importantly balance each other as one of the dishes was rich and needed acidity to balance. We tried two different wines and the waitress assisted us in letting us try whilst selecting although these were nothing to write home about. All in all the restaurant and atmosphere is pleasant and intimate, the food is good and very well presented, but the service actually let down our enjoyment and I would say appreciation of the food. We wouldn't go out of our way to recommend. Regretfully, due to price and experience we likely wouldn't go back either.

We were very happy to book a seat during our stay in Portree. We were so much looking forward to having dinner here since lots of good reviews on Google. But the experience was not quite pleasant. We arrived the restaurant 6 mins early, the waiter said she had not set up the table yet, we had to wait outside. This is a small restaurant only 8 tables total inside. The FACT was there were 4 tables available at that moment. We were just shocked by her attitude. The Food was good but not great, not matched the price. Finally the bill came with 12.5% service charge!!! We are willing to pay extra for good food and friendly service. But this restaurant is just so pretentious . We have traveled in Scotland for 15days, so far this was the worst dinner experience for us!!!

One of the worst dining experiences ever! First of all, you are forbidden to arrive early in this restaurant. There is literally no one to greet you and you are forced to go up to find someone. Then because you cannot arrivevand dine esrly and can only be ON time, the server would ask you to go up the bar to order a drink if you arrive early, even when there are empty tables. Second, you have to be very patient and not hungry when you dine there. A dish takes an average of 25 to 30 minutes to cook. An interesting thing is that when my food finally arrived, the server just chucked the plates at my table without explaining or describing anything. I observed that the server did not do this to any other table except mine, and I happened to be Asian and all customers and servers I saw were white. Is it racially discriminating? It surely makes me feel like it. Third, the food were not worth the price. With the price tag the restaurant imposes on food, you would expect at least decent food. But nope, salty sole fish on one side and tasteless on the other side. Side dishes for the venison was so salty I could not taste the venison properly . The ice-cream I had looked like the dessert cook could not be bothered to even put the ice-cream nicely. What's worse was that the dessert was warm. What's more, my seat was in front of the kitchen table and I was forced fo endure 75 minutes of oily kitchen air. Combined with the lack of circulation in the establishment, I was dizzy and almost vomited and fainted in the restaurant. All in all, this is an overracted restaurant with no good staff and food. What a waste of my hard-earned hundred pounds!

Food and drinks crafted with care. Loved Scorrybreac, a quaint and stylish restaurant overlooking Loch Portree. It's a tasting menu setup and each flight of plates delivered a terrific array of foods from the sea and land. Service was attentive without being cloying. Obvious that the chef cares for his craft, and loves to invent surprising fusions of texture and taste. Tightly edited wine list makes it hard to make a bad choice plus there is a creative raft of whiskeys. Definitively worth a visit if you can get a table. Cozy upstairs bar is a treat. I had been looking forward to this dinner for a couple months and unfortunately came away a little disappointed. Part of that was on me - I had gotten sick and my taste was muddled so I really can't comment on how the food tasted. Everything was plated beautifully and I was devastated that I wasn't able to taste anything because I'm sure it would have been lovely. The portion sizes were all generous for sharing dishes and as a solo diner, three courses was more than enough. My main concerns involved some of the issues with service. Although the staff were all so kind, some of these issues just left me disappointed. First, I ordered three dishes and while the first two came out within a few minutes of each other, it took over 45 minutes for my main course to come out. The tables around me had all received multiple courses in the time that it took for me to receive my main. Then, when I got my main course (halibut with foraged pesto), I didn't get a new knife from the butter knife that I had used to butter my foccacia. Although these are relatively small gripes, when you pay 90$ for a meal, there is some expectation for the level of service that would accompany it. Ultimately, if I ever found myself back in Portree, I would probably return to Scorrybreac because the ambiance was really unmatched and the issues I had are hardly enough of a reason to not enjoy this beautiful restaurant.

Really lovely and inventive food and drinks, cozy intimate environment and friendly unassuming service - we preferred this dinner to one we had of a similar price range at a 5-star hotel in the area. I would definitely come back again and highly recommend this as a nice option for others in the area.

I want to start out by saying that I’m not a seafood person and can’t attest to the quality of the oysters or other shellfish. They seemed to be popular from what I could tell. The restaurant is quaint and seats about 14 people or so. Reservations are a must. We got there a bit early and were seated right on time. I ordered the pork terrine, asparagus, roasted potatoes and pork belly. This place offers a tapas-style menu and the plates come out as they are ready. It took about 40 minutes before one plate came out. I was a bit agitated as I felt our food was taking a while and people who had arrived after my party were being served first. Three tables who arrived after us were served first. Some were even served multiple dishes. Maybe it’s not common practice in the UK, but I expected the waiter to check in and let us know there was a slight delay, but that the food would be ready soon. He walked by many times without giving acknowledgement. After 40 minutes, the pork terrine came out. I don’t know why it took so long, as the dish is cooked prior and served cold. It was my first time eating this dish and it wasn’t my favorite. One by one the plates came out. I felt that the timing was off on the plates as we ended up eating one item at a time instead of a mix of everything as one would usually do in a tapas-style restaurant. The asparagus was ok. The pork belly had good flavor but it was cooked medium and I prefer my pork well done. I would have ordered it well done had I known. The server also forgot we had ordered potatoes and put the order in. After about 10 minutes, we were eating a bowl of potatoes. The potatoes would have been better suited accompanying the pork. To be fair, they were really good and probably the best thing we ate. We didn’t really see our server all the much as another server, a nice lady, ended up taking care of us for the rest of the evening. We ordered a chocolate custard dessert and it was very good.

Don't get me wrong, we had a nice dining experience, but there were a few things that could have been better in terms of the food especially for a 2 star Michelin restaurant: warmed up bread with the whipped butter, more crab in the crab porridge (we would have gladly paid more to have had larger amounts of crab), more salt of the venison, a more flavorful side than the beetroot or at least more spice, better side proportions on the cod (we ran out of cod for the amount of sides), the cook on the cod was excellent, best cooked muscles we have ever had, richer custard sauce on the apple cobbler. The oysters were very salty which may be traditional for Scotland however we are used to sweeter oysters. The oysters could have been better presented with sweet and spicy to counteract the brine flavor and also been better prepared to come off the shell. This is from a foodie in Oklahoma City's perspective with experience tasting food from at least semi-finalist James Beard Award winning restaurants.

We visited this evening (our first time visiting isle Of Skye) and it was absolutely fantastic. We ordered from the small plates menu, all the dishes were SO good. A lot of bold, strong flavours (which I love) Personal favourite was the venison tartare, lamb and the brocoli & sprouts. Having dined at various 2 and 3 star Michelin restaurants I think this restaurant is as good as those. Will definitely return if ever in the area again. I’d highly recommend booking as a few couples were turned away having not booked. Total cost for 3 courses and a bottle of wine for 2 was £150 which for the quality I think is very reasonable.

What an amazingly exceptional restaurant located in remote Scotland! I’ve been to my fair share of Michelin listed restaurants and this rises very high on that list. From the exceptionally perfect service to the beautiful location to the world class tasting menu - it hits it out of the park. These dishes don’t just look good, they taste amazing as well and each bite makes you want to try more. They are also VERY accommodating to requests - it’s a seafood heavy menu but my dining partner doesn’t eat Seafood and they were willing to swap things around with notice. That just doesn’t happen in most high end tasting menu environments.

Lovely dinner at Scorrybreac. Food was excellent and we enjoyed every dish at this place. Very well done. We would return in a heartbeat. The place is also lovely from the inside. Very stylish and certainly a big add on to Portree. It is probably not so easy to get good staff in such a place or especially Isle of Skye and this is the only criticism that we had. The staff needs a bit more training and the service at times felt a little bit stressed, especially in the beginning it seemed quite hectic. Charming little restaurant with innovative flavours that were a hit and (at times) a miss Service was excellent, restaurant was cozy, food came fast and was well paced The hits: - each dish clearly had a lot of thought and care, there were many complex textures and ingredients, and huge emphasis on local produce - chicken liver parfait with the bread was delicious - the monk fish was the best dish of the night - perfectly cooked, flavourful puree sauce, it was a delight and one of the best fish dishes we had in Scotland The miss: - the traditional irish bread that was served was too dense and had the texture of a cake. it was extremely filling and we tried to eat it but couldn't. It also did not pair well with the butter and parfait because of its sweetness - some of the flavour profiles were a bit strange. the scallop was beautifully cooked (seared, fresh, tender and juicy) but the sweetcorn puree and bread wasn't the best pairing. The alexander short ribs was also nicely cooked and i liked the idea of the mushroom duxelle as a concept but the flavour was a bit overpowering and overall made the dish rather forgettable - the blue murder cheese tart was lovely and crunchy but the chutney was too sweet and overpowering - the dessert was too sweet and it was accompanied by some sour pickles (?) which made the dish overall very confusing and the flavours didn't go well Each dish was perfectly cooked (so there is no lack of expertise here) but some of the flavours are too bold and need further refining

I have to start by writing that they did a great job of catering to my food allergies for the tasting menu, so thank you. The starters were amazing as well as the dessert combinations. Combining flavors that are not conventionally placed together or even found elsewhere in general was their forte. The only reason they get 4 stars really is because we can do a better short rib at home (by following an online recipe) and since this was the entree I was looking most forward to, it was very disappointing. Also, they didn’t have any cocktails or mocktails even so a little variety on this would be nice. Overall, a lovely tasting menu with carefully curated ingredients in a wonderful location by the water (but no view)

Great food in an amazing location, however the restaurant itself is very small but both the bar and restaurant staff were superb friendly. The meal was great but in my opinion i do not like the desserts but thats just for me

One of the best set course meals I have had the pleasure of enjoying. The food was of exquisite quality, all locally sourced from within miles, presented beautifully and served in a friendly and cozy setting. The beef was the best I have ever had, will remember it for a long time.

While planning my vacation I had read about this restaurant and really wanted to try it out. I got lucky and was able to get a reservation for when I was visiting Portree. When I made the reservation they ask if there are any dietary restrictions. I noted that I do not eat red meat or fowl (birds) but that my husband would ok with anything. When we arrived, after we sat down the waitress confirmed these dietary restrictions. She then handed me a slightly different menu than the one for that night (it was the previous Friday's menu) - however, other than the "main" meal which was changed for a fish main vs a beef main there were no other changes. This meant I was served a lamb pate (red meat!) and a cod in chicken sauce (fowl!). So, if you are super strict with your diet, I am not sure this place is for you. They attempted but were not successful at providing a meal for dietary restrictions. If you, like me, occasionally dabble when traveling as it is part of the experience, then sure, this place is fine. The meal was fun - 7 or 8 courses. Each course was very different and delicious. Stand out moments for me include the roasted shallot butter on the bread course, the jerusalem artichoke soup (also on the bread course), the halibut, the celeriac ice cream with a goat cheese tuile for the pre-dessert, and the wine jelly petit fours.

Fantastic food, some of the nicest dishes I can remember tasting, service was spot on, the only slight , very minor critique is the desserts weren't on par with the rest of the menu but otherwise a perfect score. Michelin star incoming.

This was a thoughtfully creative menu, which utilized amazing technique. I appreciated the locally sourced ingredients and the robust descriptions from the staff. All of the wines paired nicely with each respective course. Not only would this restaurant bring me back to Portree, but it would bring me back to Scotland.

Our experience was not that good but service was great. Fish was dry and it is very expensive for the quality you get. We felt upset

We love tasting menus and dining, in general. This was at the top, if not the top, place we've ever been. Booking, service, and food were all superb. Even accommodating my dietary restrictions was done flawlessly with no fuss. If visiting Portree, you must get a reservation for this spot! Actually, maybe visit Portree for this restaurant. Just lovely - thank you! (a few pictures included but not all 7/8 courses)

Great lamb shank. Robust flavours and huge portion. Friendly service with a nice view of the much photographed Portree houses. This is a great casual eatery. Parking can be tricky nearby so best to park elsewhere and stroll over

This is one of the finest restaurants you wil find in portree. If you looking for something different that you haven't acquired in past.. this is the pace to make a reservation a few days in advance to acquire the Michelin star restaurant .. the staff were super friendly and would definitely recommend. Very special place. Thank you for making it a memorable evening.

If this doesn't get a Michelin star it will be a travesty. Probably one of our best meals ever and we have done a lot of eating out.

The whisky bar upstairs is amazing. Best one I’ve been to in Scotland. The owner Will is super knowledgeable about whisky. Had the best dram of my life. Selection is all rare, unusual, and interesting. If you are looking for a great place to stop for a drink this is it.

Some dishes were sublime, others missed the mark. The lamb main was lacklustre and lacked seasoning. Wine pairing was excellent and the service was good. At no point did the staff ask for feedback which was a shame. All in all, the tasting menu was overpriced but the lovely setting compensated somewhat.

Absolutely beautiful. Gorgeous food and very comfortable surroundings. Each dish was introduced by the staff to showcase the skill and pride they have used to marry a menu to the best food around. We loved it,

Highlander has great food and various beers & drinks to choose from. We had the steak and ale pie and the cheese burger. We happened to get there as the guitarist singer was setting up and enjoyed him selection of Scottish, Irish, and American ballads. Big thumbs up!!

Sehr leckerer Burrito.

I stayed at the hotel from November 1st to November 2nd. This morning, I was having breakfast at the hotel, when I was ordering, an old guy named Dorian, I raised my hand to him, I said: Excuse me, can I order. Then he came to me. He said OK guys, it's not just you, there are many guests, so don't call me. The reason I raised my hand to call him is that I am ready to order. He can come when he is ready. Then I ordered two highland breakfasts, but we only served two fried eggs. I waited for almost 30 minutes until I asked someone, can you check with the kitchen? Then I asked Dorian, he said "I'm sorry." Meaning he didn't order this for you. I am Asian, but I have never been treated like this by anyone. I do think this is racist behavior.

So the food was good especially the Cullen Shrink Soup yummy! However it is rather disconcerting when you sit watching the staff preparing other, & your order and in a 20min period nobody washes their hands. Not even the guy who returned from smoking or when he put his clipboard down to make an order. Is it so very difficult to maintain good hand hygiene? For this reason I would not come back
