A lovely course with lots of broom, would love to revisit when it is in full bloom. Really enjoyed playing the course and catering was good too with a lovely after golf soup and sandwich.

Nous étions venus golfer en famille et avons déjeuné au restaurant du golf. Carte minimaliste mais bon repas servi avec les spécialités locales. Simple, bon et des tarifs très raisonnables. Je recommande.

Last Thursday as part of our going out and about the members of the Rotary Club of Tain and Easter Ross met for lunch at the Tain Golf Club. We were offered a great choice for our special menu at an excellent price. The food was delicious and the helpings were so large some members struggled to eat everything. Of course the view from the clubhouse over the Moray Firth is spectacular.

Tain’s Golfing charms are already very well know, and are always rightly praised in glowing tributes, but did you know about its latest jewel in the crown? New chef John Buchanan having recently arrived, the meals at Old Tom Morris’s restaurant in the clubhouse have suddenly taken off in terms of quality, range of choices and great vfm. His steak nights are not to be missed! Now a seriously good option for a great dining experience in Tain, try it out ... you won’t be disappointed.

Great routing designed by Old Tom Morris. Easy to walk from green to tee. Wide lumpy fareways cause balls to roll along . Welcoming pro shop and clubhouse. Just down the road from Dornoch is well worth it’s play along with other Highland courses . Given the chance I shall return.

Enjoyed playing here with great views and the course was in really good condition. The clubhouse is very welcoming and you must try the best value club sandwich around, really excellent!

A super links/heathland course with fairways lined with gorse. Only one view of the sea that I remember, but that didn't detract from the experience.

We had lunch here after playing this traditional Scottish Links. The Club House is friendly, welcoming & offers great food at reasonable prices with lovely views as you eat. The Macaroni Cheese served here is wonderful & the portion sizes are generous!

We were recommended the place and we expected the typical hotel dinner, but I have to admit that we were happily surprised. We had mussels, cooked with the perfect timing, with an incredible sauce that we ended up taking like a soup, The rissoto was also wonderful but what really made it incredible was the salmon on a lentils base which was cooked to perfection!!!Worth every single pound we paid for. The service was ok but it could improve a bit as they were a bit harsh at the start, perhaps we were not dressed for the ocasion on a Golf Hotel, although as the dinner went on they became more friendly. One of the best meals we had in Scotland,

The golf club itself is great but access to the club via Tain town is a major challenge and I wonder why the council or police don't keep a 'fire-path' clear. If a minibus cannot get through, then neither can a fire engine.

Family meal for 80th Birthday in private area of restaurant. Staff were friendly and helpful but a long wait for food. Food was tasty and well presented although the breaded lemon sole was over cooked and looked more like chicken. Overall the service and food was good value.

A very limited but fun place to play, needed help from locals to navigate the course and where to hit it. Very much a local, casual, friendly experience off the beat and track.

A true discovery...out of the way, unknown to all but aficionados, this little gem stands in the shadows of royal Dornoch and Brora, but it's a true test for those who find their way there. The people are wonderful, the facilities unpretentious, and the course will leave you wondering" How is it this place is unknown?" A fun round was had by all.

The Tain Pipe Band has come to the golf club for their Christmas meal and dance for as long as I can remember. Due to the high number of customers, a set menu is always agreed to beforehand. The food on choice is usually a bit too pretentious for the kids however, it is always nice to try something different for a change. Quality of food is good enough considering there are usually more than 60 of us. Plenty of alcoholic beverages to choose from as well. After the three course meal, the whole room is cleared for us so we are able to have a dance and a chat. Service is also usually friendly although the place does seem a tad understaffed. Overall, a decent place to book a function.

We know the Tongue area very well, and like to eat locally, so it was obvious we would decide to eat at the Craggan, and i'm happy we did! The restaurant area is welcoming and clean, staff friendly, and the car park was easy even with a big van. The only problem was choosing from the menu! So many tasty things - i wish we had more time to visit again.. All three of us enjoyed our food, and we shared everything so i know it was all delicious. Thank you for making a rather wet evening so special..

I recently had the pleasure of spending a delightful day at Dores Inn, and I still find myself reminiscing about the experience six months later. Nestled along the shores of the iconic Loch Ness, this charming inn offers a perfect blend of stunning views, a warm atmosphere, and exceptional service. Upon arrival, we were greeted by a lovely ambiance that sets the tone for a relaxing visit. The inn has ample seating, both indoors and outdoors, making it easy to find a cozy spot to enjoy the picturesque scenery. We opted for an outside table, and it turned out to be the best decision of the day. The views of the loch were absolutely breathtaking, providing a serene backdrop for our meal. Speaking of the meal, I must rave about the food—simply sublime! I usually find coleslaw unappealing, but Dores Inn's homemade version was a game changer. It was fresh, flavorful, and complemented our dishes beautifully. Every bite was a testament to the culinary care that goes into their offerings. After our satisfying meal, we joined a Rib-Boat journey on the loch, which was an exhilarating way to experience the surroundings. The thrill of speeding across the water, combined with the breathtaking views of the loch and its mythical charm, made for an unforgettable adventure. As a memento of our day, I couldn't resist purchasing one of their handmade crochet teddies of Nessie. It's now a cherished keepsake that brings back fond memories of our visit. To wrap up our day, we took a leisurely walk along the shoreline. The tranquility of the loch, coupled with the stunning natural beauty surrounding us, was the perfect ending to a fantastic day. Overall, Dores Inn exceeded my expectations in every way. From the lovely atmosphere and great views to the delectable food and friendly service, it’s a place I highly recommend. If you're looking for an exceptional day out near Loch Ness, don’t miss the opportunity to visit this gem. I still think about that wonderful day, and I can’t wait to return!

This was a lovely experience, the food was not ' swimming in grease' as i saw from another review, but it was great to see that the more recent reviews have been validated. We went here for my birthday at the end of october and honestly everything was really lovely . the service was great they were so friendly from the getgo, the charcuterie board we had for starter was very filling and diverse just wish they would have told us what the cheeses were ( i think the brie was from tain though it was familair) but thats a minor niggle that we had no info. the main courses were fab the skin on chips were AMAZING , and its a dog friendly place which we loved , we dont have dogs but we did get to pet some which made our day !
