I really wanted this to be great but in the end I just did not sleep well. The bed was very uncomfortable, and pillows were horrible square foam. The hotel is amazing, and I am sure it costs a lot to keep such a beautiful hotel but when 8 hours of the day is spent sleeping (the whole point of a hotel I think) I is missing some key elements. Outside of town so getting to other food is a bit of a task. The food was good but was missing something that just left be short of amazed. Second night we went to down and had a great meal.

Booked two nights (Aug 10-12th) here as we were ending our Scotland trip, and it was a perfect place to finish. Parking is provided in a lot or along the quiet street. It was a little confusing at first glance, because there are two buildings (across the street from each other) labeled "The Star Inn," and one of them had a sale sign on the outside. After realizing one had a locked door, we headed to the other where we were greeted by locals and directed to the bar for service. It took a couple minutes for the bartender to finish up and greet us, but she was lovely and promptly checked us in, grabbed our keys, and showed us the way to our room across the street. The first thing I noticed was the incredible smell! It smelled amazing, fresh, comforting...l considered asking how I could bring the smell back to the states. The walk in area, halls and room were spotless and cozy. The bed was crisp and fresh, and the bathroom was huge. Numerous fresh towels and toiletries were provided. There was also tea, water, a small fridge, a television, menus, WIFI, a small desk, lots of outlets for charging, and nice lighting. The Inn is within walking distance to the water, and there are some small shops that weren't open on a Sunday. It was about 15 minutes of a drive into Inverness, and about 5 minutes from Inverness airport. Would absolutely recommend staying here, we loved the small amount of time we did!

As we were in Ardersier we decided to pop in for lunch. The menu isn't huge but it doesn't have to be, it catered for all our tastes, some of which are more difficult than others. We found the service was very good, very attentive and helpful staff. The food didn't take long to arrive and we'd had quite contrasting options, a vegetable curry and baked potatoes. No complaints about the portions and the food was very good. Certainly worth a visit if you're in the area or have been to Fort George.

This is now call the Cabot Highland. We were in the area and trying to find some food to have for dinner without having to head back into Inverness or having dinner at a Hotel. This popped up and was about ready to close when we arrived at 5:45. We walked in and asked if they could accommodate us. Everyone was very pleasant and assured us they could. We had the best meal of our trip. Not only was the dinner lovely and serve good but the view phenomenal. I had fried haddock with sweet potato fries and peas. Plenty of food and truly wonderful. My husband had a bowl of chili with beer. Nothing fancy just really good food, great service at a reasonable price. We would return.

Popped in for a Lunch. The fish and chips were freshly cooked to order, and good value. Staff were friendly.

Gray food and coffee. Lovely surroundings. Very pleasant service. Would have been 5 star if not for smelly dogs at near table.

Very disappointed with the service provided by the older lady who works in the shop. I was already getting served by one of the young ladies who are very polite and extremely helpful. The more mature grumpy lady just jumped in and took over and was rude to me and the younger member of staff who was in complete control of my order. Whilst the young lady found my order on the till, the older lader could not and put it through as something completely different which meant I was charged £1/90p more. I questioned this as I need the receipt for business purposes which had a completely different item on it at 90p£1 more and I was told "ach it's just 90p/£1 more". I'd just like to add that every other times I've been in I've been treated politely, professionally and with extremely welcome by the younger staff and the opposite by the mature grumpy lady with a "I'm in charge complex" with a very unwelcome attitude. A real shame as it would of been a very pleasant place to take guests. I've had experience with retail stores though not my actual job just a sideline and I'd certainly not employ this trumped up person and I feel sorry for her polite , helpful, welcoming coworkers. I would never wish anyone to fail the complete opposite but unfortunately with my knowledge in retail I can't see this place lasting very long ,due to high prices and not providing in my opinion the correct items for locals living in the village, no newspapers (mad even if selling at a loss) will lose lots of add on item business from locals ,workers and farmers from the area. The footfall for this kind of business isn't in the Cawdor area year round. I do wish you well but coming from this area and seeing and knowing what works, unfortunately the initial interest and footfall will slowly disappear. Best of luck

1st time visiting Cawdor tavern and the food was lovely, decent size portions and reasonably priced, service wasn't the best though, 3 lady's working and nobody asked how our meal was or offered us more drinks, empty glasses sat at end of table for 20 mins, would still return as the food lovely

Had a couple of coffees and some cakes and sat outside in the fort and ate them. Was a good place to get refreshments.
