The Star Inn in Highland

Booked two nights (Aug 10-12th) here as we were ending our Scotland trip, and it was a perfect place to finish. Parking is provided in a lot or along the quiet street. It was a little confusing at first glance, because there are two buildings (across the street from each other) labeled "The Star Inn," and one of them had a sale sign on the outside. After realizing one had a locked door, we headed to the other where we were greeted by locals and directed to the bar for service. It took a couple minutes for the bartender to finish up and greet us, but she was lovely and promptly checked us in, grabbed our keys, and showed us the way to our room across the street. The first thing I noticed was the incredible smell! It smelled amazing, fresh, comforting...l considered asking how I could bring the smell back to the states. The walk in area, halls and room were spotless and cozy. The bed was crisp and fresh, and the bathroom was huge. Numerous fresh towels and toiletries were provided. There was also tea, water, a small fridge, a television, menus, WIFI, a small desk, lots of outlets for charging, and nice lighting. The Inn is within walking distance to the water, and there are some small shops that weren't open on a Sunday. It was about 15 minutes of a drive into Inverness, and about 5 minutes from Inverness airport. Would absolutely recommend staying here, we loved the small amount of time we did!

I stayed at the hotel while visiting my family. Rooms are lovely and breakfast is so tasty with a fantastic choice. Staff are always so friendly and helpful. My fourth stay here and there will be plenty more.

Did not know about Star Inn. Went to Gun Lodge but looked all locked up so went to Star Inn. We had a fantastic supper and will go back, bar looked so cosy and family friendly just like my pub in Scone, memories now. Be back soon.

This is one of the best pubs and restaurants we have visited here in the highlands. The food is always delicious and plenty of it. The service both behind the bar and in the restaurant is excellent. Price wise you really can’t go wrong we had two main meals and two wines and two beers came to £35.90 brilliant value for money. The people on the table next to ours had the prawn cocktail it was huge and looked delicious. Be warned make sure you have a good appetite but you don’t need a thick wallet. Will be back very soon.

Staying at a B&B in the area who recommended our evening meal here. Shown a table upstairs. Very prompt service,drinks and food ordered within 10 mins,which We were pleased about,as a group of 10 then arrived. It then got quite busy upstairs,and as our food came out to our table,3 other tables were filled with customers. We had the haddock and the steak and ale pie. Bloody gorgeous pie. The beef was so tasty and tender,and lots of. The fish and batter were very well cooked. Big portions so no desserts ordered. Service was very good,food scrumptious, Highly recommend

We stopped here on an early Sunday evening looking for something to eat, and boy were we in for a treat! Staff were all so friendly and attentive. They serve a carvery on a Sunday, which was fabulous! Big selection of meats, trimmings, as well as starters and desserts! Lovely meal, in a homely environment. We finished our drinks in the bar downstairs, soaking up the lively atmosphere of the locals enjoying their Sunday evening. What a brilliant little place. We will definitely return if or when staying in the area next time!

A great place for dinner. The menu was varied and the food was well prepared and delicious. The hardworking staff were friendly and the service was good. A good atmosphere in which to enjoy a leisurely meal. We went on three occasions which speaks volumes on how much we enjoyed it. Wouldn't hesitate to return when in the area.

Enjoyed a super family meal here last week. We sat upstairs and were served very quickly by a lovely young man who seemed to be waiter and bar man at the same time! The food was excellent. We had a mix of burgers, fajitas and mixed grill. Puddings were really, really good too!

Phoned to book in advance but when arrived they didn’t have our reservation noted however they quickly arranged a table for us. Extensive menu of homemade food, we could not fault it, every dish was delicious and nicely presented. Our waitress Emma was very pleasant and efficient. The decor is tasteful and the background music ( Country) helped the atmosphere. We will certainly be back

Don’t often go to pubs that advertise home made food and it actually is, but this one was all home made even down to the burger chutney! The chips are home made and you can tell. Had the Steak and Ale Pie which was excellent....

This was my second visit to the inn and the first for the rest of our party of 4. We were greeted by a friendly server who showed us to an upstairs restaurant. We were pleasantly surprised by the staging (Covid friendly) and I felt safe and relaxed.The portions are very generous and of good quality. I had a prawn cocktail followed by grilled chicken with white pudding and seasonal vegetables with a delicious whiskey sauce. We all throughly enjoyed our meals and would not hesitate to recommend the Star Inn to family and friends. We will return in the near future to sample the festive menu.

We ate here on a Sunday evening. As with everything during covid we made sure we had pre booked. The restaurant was busy but everything was being sanitised as soon as customers left the table. Our meal was very tasty, hubby had the haggis fritters to start and the portion would honestly have done as a main course, he followed with the seafood linguine, he thoroughly enjoyed the meal but couldn't finish the main, he asked for the remnants to be put in a take away box and that was no problem. I opted not to have a starter and had the salmon on crushed lemon potatoes, very tasty and again an ample portion. Well worth a visit if you are in the area.

Have just returned from The Star Inn with my better half. Lovely meal wife had black pudding for starters, I had Haggis fritters. Mains i had mix grill ( excellent) and my wife had Salmon very tasty and excellent value.

We visited for lunch as it was close to where we were staying. My wife and I had the deep fried haggis for starters and it was absolutely delicious. Our son had the lentil soup which he said was excellent. My wife and I had the salmon fillet and our son had the burger. It was all excellent. We didn't have room for a sweet, but my son and I had malt whisky in the bar to round off the lunch. Looking forward to visit again one evening for a few whiskies.The staff were extremely friendly.

Apart from a minor inconvenience when checking in due to a child care issue meaning a staff member was running a little late we cannot fault the Star Inn. Our room was amazing, decor was fantastic. Food was to die for! And all the staff we encountered were unbelievably friendly and helpful especially our waitress we had for our evening meal! The breakfast was an impressively large portion for the price and was out of this world. If we are back in the area there is nowhere else we would even consider staying!

Popped in for dinner whilst staying at a 'big brand' airport hotel nearby, whose food and prices we weren't really keen on. Glad we found the Star Inn! A great 'local' pub, with an atmosphere to match. Locals in playing doms, all know the staff by name and having a good time. The menu was large and varied, and the food itself very good without trying to hard. The staff were attentive and kind. Thanks to Kira for looking after us for the evening.

Apenas comenzamos nuestras vacaciones en Escocia, nos alojamos en Ardersier y tuvimos nuestra primera comida aquí. Habíamos comido aquí el año pasado, lo cual fue muy bueno, pero no estábamos seguros de cómo iban a ser las cosas con Covid - 19. No teníamos que preocuparnos ya que todos los arreglos fueron de primera clase. En cuanto a la comida, estaba deliciosa. Buñuelos haggis con mayonesa de whisky, gambas al ajillo, pollo mariposa con morcilla y salsa de whisky, eglefino rebozado con cerveza tempura. ¡Completamente relleno! Excelente servicio. Nos alojamos en Ardeseir durante una semana en una cabaña de autoservicio y en nuestra primera noche visitamos el Star Inn con nuestro perro. Había sido nuestra intención comer allí la mayoría de las noches durante nuestra estancia. Debido a que teníamos al perro (un whippet), nos acompañaron hasta el bar público más desagradable. Éramos los únicos clientes en el bar y un niño que hacía sus deberes en la esquina se fue rápidamente. Nuestro pedido se tomó rápidamente y las bebidas se entregaron. Luego esperamos 30 minutos + para que llegara nuestra comida, momento en el que habíamos terminado nuestras bebidas. ¡Claramente se habían olvidado de nosotros! A los Whippets les resulta extremadamente incómodo sentarse en pisos de madera dura, algo que un establecimiento de 'perros bienvenidos' debe saber. Comimos en el Star Inn el sábado 29 de agosto. Como la calificación de estrellas era 5, estábamos ansiosos por hacerlo, pero eso cambió pronto.COVID - 19 medidas - La entrada y salida del pub y restaurante es el mismo pequeño pasaje. En el pasillo había gente charlando y una señora fumando. La única forma en que podíamos entrar era caminando junto a ellos. No llevaban máscaras. Tuvimos que comer en la zona del bar. Había gente entrando y saliendo constantemente y de pie en el bar pidiendo bebidas y la mayoría sin máscaras. Se hicieron bromas sobre la captura de COVID - 19 entre el personal del bar y los lugareños. En un momento dado, había al menos 12 personas parados en el área del bar y 3 parados en el bar. Nos sentimos extremadamente incómodos. Preguntamos si podíamos sentarnos en una zona de restaurante, pero nos dijeron que esta era nuestra mesa (la habíamos reservado con días de antelación y no nos dijeron que estaríamos sentados en la zona del bar). Pedimos la comida a las 6. 35 pm y llegó a las 7. 40 p. M. ¡Escuchamos a una camarera decirle a un local que su comida llegaría pronto ya que estaban muy ocupados con una mesa para 20 personas! ! ! La comida se llevaba desde la cocina hasta las mesas del restaurante entre la gente que entraba y salía del baño sin máscaras. Nuestra comida fue llevada a nuestra mesa entre las personas que hacían cola en el área del bar.La comida estuvo bien. Tenía plástico en mis haggis y el pescado y las patatas fritas estaban muy grasosos.Comimos nuestra comida rápidamente y nos fuimos alrededor de las 7. 55 pm ya que no queríamos quedarnos adentro ni un minuto más de lo necesario.No fue una experiencia positiva para nuestra primera comida desde el cierre.Definitivamente no volveremos al Star Inn y espero que mejoren sus medidas de COVID - 19. Dos cosas que cambiaría de inmediato: no sirva comida en el área del bar donde hay gente entrando y saliendo y una salida y un punto de entrada separados, especialmente con el tráfico de afuera hacia los baños internos.El único punto positivo fue que la chica que nos atendió fue muy amable.

Visited this restaurants with my family.No Covid-19 restrictions being followed. Have to enter through a narrow lane where smokers where, having to squeeze by them. We went into the Bar where we were seated. We felt very uncomfortable as a group of people were standing around the bar not socially distancing and not wearing masks.The police arrived and asked to speak to the manager to clearly say that they must follow the government guidelines.As the police left the staff jokingly told some members of the public to wear masks but not others? An hour after we ordered our food came. I ordered the fish and chips. The fish was dripping in grease and made the chips all mushy. As we felt so uncomfortable we stood up (with food still filling most of our plates) asked for the bill and left.A terrible experience. Our first meal out since March was not a good one.

La hamburguesa de venado con morcilla tiene que ser una de las mejores que he probado en mi vida con ensalada y grandes patatas fritas caseras.Los entrantes y platos dulces eran igual de buenos y mi esposa y yo disfrutamos de la selección. Volveremos con nuestros amigos para probar esta pequeña joya de lugar en Ardersier.

Llegamos al aeropuerto y les llamamos por teléfono para el traslado, fueron aproximadamente diez minutos, muy rápido. El pub se adhirió a Covid, así que nos sentamos en una mesa para tomar algo. Una ronda de bebida que pensamos que era un muy buen precio. Las comidas se detuvieron a las 8 pm y llegamos demasiado tarde para comer. Nos registramos en nuestra habitación y era muy espaciosa, limpia y se notaba que pensamos en la decoración. La ducha fue excelente Excelente. El mar estaba justo detrás del hotel. Vale la pena caminar. El desayuno era razonable. Las salchichas eran normales, pero el resto era muy agradable. El personal fue muy amable.

Tuvimos una comida familiar aquí la semana pasada. . . . La comida era estupenda y el servicio también. Todas las medidas de "seguridad" vigentes estaban en vigor. Todos nos sentimos muy cómodos sentados y comiendo aquí, así que estaremos encantados de volver muy pronto. . .Están participando en el esquema actual del 50% de descuento de lunes a miércoles, por lo que un precio excelente para una comida fantástica. . . pero para ser honesto, volveremos una y otra vez incluso al precio completo, ¡vale la pena!

Phoned to book table on first night of our stay in the village as we were unsure what the procedure would be at the moment, offered table indoor or outdoor. Plenty of space, good choice on menu.

This amazing village inn offers the most comfortable accommodation which by the look of it has been recently refurbished to the highest standard. We stayed in Room 4 which is a very spacious ensuite double room that has a wonderfully soft bed, large TV, iron & ironing board and in room fridge. The staff are all so friendly, helpful and the meals are very good value for money extremely tasty and plentiful. I can't see us staying anywhere else while in the area. Thank you all very much.

We were lucky enough to be gifted food from the owner of this restaurant while myself and a number of other fire service colleagues were attending an incident close by. We were given delicious soup, fantastic sandwiches and the most amazing platter of homemade chicken goujons. I will be sure to visit this gem of a place in my own time with friends and family.

This is not the first time we've eaten here, and it'll certainly not be the last. The Star is fast becoming our favourite place to eat.

The meal was excellent. The starter could have been a main meal in itself. The main meals were far in excess of what we were expecting. There must have been over 20 pieces of scamp on the plate . It was piled high. I thoroughly recommend this restaurant to everyone.

After a long 30-hour day of travel, and evening arrival, our B&B; host recommended Star Inn. Simply superb! Wife had very substantial Veggie Tart Salad. Never had something so good and unique. I had macaroni bake. Great portion size, all homemade, glorious on a cool night. Located about 7 miles from Inverness airport. Get off beaten path and try this pub/restaurant. Ever since the Starr inn was taken over by this family the food has been amazing and chef Phil has never disappointed. just ask how you would like your burger steak etc how you would like it and he will oblige. Great portions and you will never be disappointed. This great family business has done wonders for Ardesier. ok I live in Ardesier but honest I am not related in any way. just love the grub. And it’s amazing to meet the guests who stay in the hotel rooms from all over the world. They have put our wee village on the map.

Food was great the fish and chips are huge. Love the meat pies and the people. It is small and historical. I love the charm of the fireplace on cooler nights. If you are there on Tuesday be ready for the Quiz. Make sure you have a British person with you or all the UK phrases will sink your chances. LOL If you manage to win.. No WIFI allowed... Have a good dart player to take it to the next level of fun.

Stayed here for a night on route to the Islands. Room (which is across the road from the pub) was excellent. Good size, well equipped, clean with a VERY comfy large bed. We had our evening meal in the pub which again was excellent. Good menu choice, well cooked and all at a fair price. All staff we encountered were friendly and in the main efficient. Breakfast followed a similar theme, good choice and plenty of it. Place can get busy and fully booked, so would suggest booking well in advance. Only slight down side was a few locals who were a little bit worse for wear and a bit on the loud and swearing side. There again the place does serve as a local pub so not a problem as such for us.

When I was in the military in Germany back in the 70s I lived in a small village similar to our this year and the star in would’ve been a daily hunt for me the restaurant was pretty good I didn’t drink anything so I don’t know about the bar but the surrounding area and the interior decoration was very very quaint

Stumbled across this place & it’s a good find. Food was delicious & portions big. Will definitely be back

Travelled in total of 8 Golfers and arrived in this lovely little village ,rooms are across road from pub and are all fantastic ,we were in a flat with 2 double on suite rooms upstairs and lovely living quarters down stairs ,across in the pub is just an absolute dream of a pub ,we each had something different but top choice had to be the fish (bigger than Lenny ) food was 10 out 10 and service and staff were also 10 out 10 .
