Wow the Cullin Skink soup was fantastic to start.
We had lobster betwen us for main course, tasty delious food.
Only a small place, you can't book. (I kept trying to ring) Top Tip Get of the train and get there asap as it fills up, and they only do lunch.
When we arrived they had a note on the door saying full ,but my wife went round the side asked if they could fit us in. Ime so glad as he squeezed us in. (Thankyou so much) people kept coming but we were lucky.
Does not disapoint.
Stopped for a piece of cake and a cup of tea. It was a lovely, easy quick stop on our journey and we enjoyed it very much. The almond and cherry cake was delicious.
I appreciated that they have gluten free options with gluten free bread. I took French toast with mascarpone cream and Shetland milk. Everything was good and tasty. One little thing.. I didn't like eating in a cardboard.. however it was a minor issue and I would recommend this place to other people.
We booked here as we were staying in the B&B & doing some research online I was struggling to find anywhere that we fancied in Fort William. I loved the free warm bread & cold water. Lot's of choice of drinks & a small fresh food menu- perfect! The food was tasty but small ish portions, we were a bit disappointed with the apple crumble for the price but overall had a lovely meal.
Dining room was very cold, over priced for what we ordered.
The half lobster was served cold with a very boring bulked up salad with no dressing, was disapointed to find the dressed crab to be served in a plastic shell not in natural shell, was not fresh Crab, The burger was raw in the middle, would have been nice to have had fries with burger. Our whole experience was very disappointing sadly won't be returning.
Very poor starter and dessert but mains good and service OK. The onion bargee was awlful-flat and greesy and desserts straight put of rhe freezer but mains OK.
Food options ok
Bonus choice free fries to 2 specific burgers
Ordered cheese burger with fries and a IPA beer from Black Isle brewery
The burger was a bit to soaky
Stopped here for a light lunch. Greeted with a smile. Lovely location, looking out to sea. Whole establishment has great light.
Service was excellent. Absolutely nothing bad to say about this place. Didn't have to ask for anything, including brown sugar , which was in sachets on the table. Hooray!! Finally a place that offers it without having to plead.
I had a prawn sandwich which came on lovely fresh bread. Daughter had an egg mayo sandwich.
Couldn't believe how swiftly the food came out to everyone .
They were very busy. All ages.
Definitely one of the most enjoyable lunches I've had in a long time.
Whole establishment was spotless.
Don't drive by. Stop and enjoy a very pleasant experience. 10 out of 10 from me. And I don't say that very often!!
Popped into The Bothy for morning coffee and a scone with a friend. Alas no scones - plenty of sweet cakes which we did not really fancy in the morning. So I asked if we could please have toast but the waitress didn't think so. I asked if she would mind asking in the kitchen which she did and she came back and said no sorry you can't have toast.I should have known because we had heard the gentleman next to us ask if he could have a roll with bacon and Lorne sausage together. The waitress said they did not like to deviate from the menu. On the menu there was a bacon roll and there was a Lorne sausage roll but they could not put that into one roll . Surely you try to please your customers if you want them to come back. I know my friend and I will not be rushing back.

Had a lovely meal here today, great food, phenomenal service and a lovely atmosphere, It's the kind of place you could sit down in and stay all day, the icing on the cake was the live music, i only wish we could have stayed all afternoon.
We went to the Shieling twice when we were staying in Poolewe. Firstly just for a snack and drink after a walk however ended up having soup and a sandwich which was very generous in portion size “he doesn’t do small “ the waitress said laughing. I had mushroom soup which was delicious and my partner had the Cullen Skink which she declared the best ever!
As it was so good we booked to return with our friends for lunch on the Friday, we all had fish and chips or scampi all of which were really fresh and tasty. The staff are really helpful and friendly and service was great. I would definitely recommend the Shieling if you are in the area but booking ahead especially in high season and weekends are a must.
We went for dinner with high expectations, but things fell short for us. The cuisine was not particularly to our liking, so our food choices were few. Cocktails were well prepared. Our final bill was outrageous for what was served in my opinion. I would not return.
