Royal Cask Whisky Gin Bar in Orkney Islands

What a place I was in Whiskey Heaven, my girlfriend was in Gin heaven I sampled some, in my price range drams, from the magnificent Highland Park distillery, I was not disappointed The bar was tastefully decorated with various bottles of whiskey in cabinets adorning the walls and a large display in the rear bar Barman seemed to know his stuff and was very helpful Didn't see much Gin on display, although I did have my Whiskey goggles on, but my girlfriend was very happy with the various tastes available

If you're travelling to the Orkneys chances are you like Whisky, vikings or it's a stop at your cruise. If you do like Whisky you're in for a treat with this one!

Nice bar to enjoy a drink and a bite. Excellent selection of special edition whiskies, had a wonderful Dark Origins Highland Park sherry edition. Good local beer choices, recommend a pint of Scapa Special by Swannay Brewery. Trio of fish starter was great to share. Fish Thai curry had a nice spice to it. The specials menu has a delicious Kedgeree main course. Kids menu easily pleases with fish, chicken and sausage options. Friendly service.

Actually not worth rating...you can't reserve a table there, we were told by email...we then sat there for half an hour without anyone being interested in us. One guest was very attentive, which made us very happy. The service is sublime, even after we said we would like to order something, no one took any notice of us. We received a very friendly welcome at the Italian restaurant opposite, which saved our evening! I actually didn't want to give a star, that's too much!!!

Amazing whisky choice, over more than 1000 bottles !

Nicely appointed bar...with an astonishing malt whisky offer. But not the liveliest of places.

Was out with friends for a meal. Food was lovely, and the stuff very good 👍

Over 1000 whiskies… what else needs to be said? Yeah, they have beers and gins and whatnot, but who cares? It’s all about the whisky!

I though I might struggle to find somewhere to eat,having only landed at the airport at 19.30. I was pleasantly surprised to find this bar serving food until 20.30.I had the steak pie, which was superb,washed down with three pints of very nice Orkney Gold. Prices were good as well!

Fantastic place for all whisky lovers, over 1,000 to choose from. Food was good. Barman was a bit stern and unfriendly.

Great bar, good atmosphere, bar tender had a fantastic and interesting knowledge of the Whisky that is on sail. Made some excellent suggestions. Highly recommended.

Enjoyed the food and atmosphere.

This is one of the best places in Kirkwall both for a drink and an inexpensive, tasty, filling dinner. We frequented it throughout our stay, and had meals such as mushroom tagliatelle and prawns, all really scrumptious and well priced.

Very comprehensive library of local and even world whiskies. Definitely worth a visit if you are interested in sampling from this deep menu, not quite as good a venue if you're not, perhaps. Small but pleasant place for a quiet drink.

Nice tidy Bar with an unprepossessing entrance. Large Whisky choice and serves Real Ale.

Welcoming staff, good honest food, ample portions and important at these times value for money. A selection of whisky worth a browse for any enthusiast.
