Kind and friendly people, lovely view and a great chai tea, however the curries and kebab were only OK. The vegetable curry was particularly bland even though it was spicier than the other curries.

We stopped to have a curry and were not disappointed. They have beef, chicken or vegetable curry meals with rice, 1/2 or full portions at your choice of heat, medium, hot, or extra hot. Picnic tables outside, also a small convenience store with a range of items and a gas pump. Nice alternative to cooking our own food - was very tasty and reasonably priced. We had noted that one individual was allergic to nuts and the women who cooked the curry came back after 5 minutes and said nutmeg was in the curry. Being careful we thanked her and one member decided to have a toasted ham and cheese sandwich on ciabatta bread.

Just had our first takeaway curry from this place! Outstanding! Simple as that! I’ve lived near Bradford for over 30 years and had some amazing curries, but this takeaway was up there with the best. We have now moved to Skye to live and this will be a regular treat for us, even if it is 25 mins from home in Earlish. So pleased to have found decent Indian food on the island. Thanks guys!

Read up on places to eat in Skye ahead of our trip and popped in to look at the takeaway options when visiting Staffin beach. Was met with a lovely warm smile and friendly voice by Sonya, the owner as she was making up some curries. Was totally invested in coming back for a takeaway later in the week, ordering ahead by phone the day before for 8 people. Loved the food and loved the visit, such friendly owners. Just a shame we live in Norfolk and it can’t be our local. Do yourself a favour and pop in and place an order, you won’t be disappointed, I promise!

Hunted high and low for a hot roll and coffee around Staffin but found everything closed or not providing even the basics. Decided to head over to Uig but stumbled across Mackenzies store and it was a blessing in disguise - not only did Sonia and Dave provide two hungry anglers a full cooked breakfast but they ensured we had a fresh homemade curry that evening along with taking our order for breakfast the next day. The breakfast, curry and hospitality are Not to be missed - don't drive past - drop in for a coffee and a chat: they are AWESOME!! Chippie & Craig.

What a find. This most unassuming shop holds a secret worth sharing, the best, most authentic, most AMAZING curry you'll find anywhere on Skye, and probably beyond. The buttery (and I mean buttery) naan was worth having just on its own. It was so good I got another one to take home with me. And if the curries alone aren't worth going for (and they are) they are delivered by the loveliest of people. I could have stayed all day. Loved it!

We were so lucky to stumble on this place as we were looking for a sandwich for a late lunch. They were so friendly, helpful and served the most delicious curries. We had one chicken and one veg, which were both great, properly authentic and not overly sweet like some Indian takeaways. From the outside it doesn’t look like much, but a really great place. We stayed for ages looking at the view, having ice creams and then coffee. They definitely need to advertise the curries more obviously, as this place is a real find!

Mackenzie's store is a off-license store, which has a takeway counter. They cook terrible Indian food. Generally food is not done properly and most of the items on menu are fried for which they use frozzed food, fry it and serve. Except Parathas, nothing is made fresh, which is half done. Vegetarians have very limited choice, curry is very oily. They do have few bench outside the shop were people can sit have have food. However, given the weather in Isles, you can never sit there as it would either be quite windy to have food outside or raining. They have just 3 parking space off the carriage way, so be careful if you do plan to visit the store.

On a visit to Skye we had stopped for lunch at a self named "gastro pub" that was over priced and under portioned so felt a bit peckish a couple of hours later. We had seen mini posters on various gates and posts for Mackenzies Stores so thought we would stop for a snack before going for a walk. We ordered chips and pakora and a cup of chai. The pakora were cooked to order using fresh aubergine and other veg, as were the chips and were absolutely delicious. The chai was cooked from scratch and took about 20 minutes to allow the spices to infuse. All was great, but remember good fresh food cooked to order does take a while to prepare so be prepared for a little wait.

We were heading back to our car after a walk on the mountains on a cold windy but sunny morning, (visiting the area as we were attending our neice's gratuation that week). I noticed a Mackenzie Store Menu stuck on one of the gates as we walked past. At first glance I thought it was just a store maybe selling frozen ready meals but carried on reading the menu Nearly approaching lunch time, my neice, husband and I were looking for somewhre to have lunch. Reading the dishes and varieties it seemed too good to be true to have such a place in the Scottish Highlands in the middle of nowhere serving such a variety of indian food! My neice and husband thought I was seeing things as I was really hungry! We drove to the store (easy to find as it's on the main road). Looking from the outside we were a little dissapointed and thought I was right about the frozen ready meals! Went in and we were totally surprised and happy to see a sweet little kitchen on one side with two ladies busy preparing takeaway orders. When my neice and husband saw the same menu there as earlier they realised I wasn't going crazy! We ordered the stuffed aloo parathas and daal which the lady recommended and that she had just started cooking. We ordered freshly cooked home made chips (from real potato) and curry sauce on the side. Had a very long wait so sat outside and admired the scenic views. At last the food was ready. We have never tasted food like that even in the poshest of restaurants! The daal was absolutely delicious and the parathas just right, not too oily full of tasty filling. The chips and sauce were very fresh and full of flavour. The food was prepared with love and we shall always remeber that. If ever we travel that way again, we would certainly make a trip to Mackenzies Stores. WELL DONE AND GOD BLESS YOU ALL. WISHING YOU A HEALTHY BUSINESS ALWAYS. KEEP IT UP.

This is about the third time this year that we have used this little shop come takeaway curry (other hot food is available) stop.Sonja the lady that runs the shop (the lady in the hat) can be found unflustered slaving over the stoves. On one occasion we went there was making the largest vat of curry for a community event. The smell when you walk in enchants you and even as on my last visit at noon finds you leaving with a couple of hot samosa's to enjoy on the journey to Portree.Sorry off on a tangent there. I have had the Lamb and Beef curries tweaked to your chosen temperature (I like Madras +) with fresh onion rice with a variety of breads all cooked for you there or to take to where you are staying to re heat.A good honest take away curry that does not leave you still feeling peckish. Seating if you need it is benches/picnic tables outside.I shall get a picture on my next visit.

As other reviewers, we were in the area and looking for somewhere to eat. Passed this place and noticed the sign that said 'store, snacks, tea...' so continued on as we wanted more than a 'snack'. After 20 mins we decided this was the only place to go back to - and we're so glad we did!!!! The menu did include the usual snacks but also a fabulous array of indian meals! The lovely aromas on entering left me wanting to try everything! The kids settled for chips and pizza slice. Pizza slice made to order on half baguettes sliced in half and covered in whatever toppings you chose. Friends chose the veggie curry (delicious and packed with chick peas) and the chicken curry. I chose the chicken tikka roll. I expected a bit of chicken tikka in a bread roll but what came out was an enormous meal wrapped in foil which contained a huge flat bread with mountains of juicy chicken tikka, salad and lovely dressing! It was a complete meal. The ladies creating these wonderful meals were so lovely and accommodating! We sat outside in the sunshine and were still there an hour later ordering more teas. Left for our 90 minute journey back to our cottage on the south of Skye completely full and happy knowing we wouldn't need to cook when we got back! A real gem of a place that looks completely unassuming and ordinary on the outside! Quite well stocked so a great place for the community and travellers alike.

We were staying at the campsite and it was pouring with rain so we couldn't cook anything. We decided to go and look for somewhere to get food - some chance at the top end of Skye, there's not a lot around. We happened upon the slightly tired looking local shop and it said takeaway food and my partner and I looked at each other and said "nah". However at that moment the door opened and we could see some people stood looking as if they were waiting in a takeaway so we decided to take a look. At one end of the shop is your typical "corner shop", looking a little tired and not particularly amazing - at the other end was a fantastic, spotlessly clean little kitchen being run by 2 ladies who were very busy but immensely cheerful - the lady in charge in particular was lovely! The menu was home-typed and full of mistakes but it had a huge variety of different things, from burgers to chinese spring rolls to indian curries. As I was looking I saw a large vat of curry on the hob and it looked amazing so my partner and I decided immediately to have the curry. I went with the beef curry and my partner went with chicken - both with rice. We were both asked how hot we'd like the curry and they were prepared to our specifications. After a short wait we were given our food in the usual takeaway type packaging and we drove back to our campsite to settle down to some hot home-cooked food. The curries were fantastic - absolutely lovely - and we both felt as if we had visited an Indian friend in their home and had their genuine food they would eat made for us. We both would have had it again the 2nd night too if the rain hadn't stopped. If you want hot food on a rainy day then this is the place to find! Just make sure you go before 7pm as that is when they stop taking orders.

As a traveler, you sometimes come across a place to eat that pleasantly surprises you and this is a classic example. From the outside, it's a plain convenience store, and inside they have for sale a range of typical produce. The greatest surprise comes from what the 2 delightful ladies are cooking up at the back of the store. We were looking for a refrigerated pie or something, and left with a chicken tikka 'roll' - tender juicy chicken tikka, wrapped in an indian flatbread, filled with salad and some superb spicy sauce, and I have to say it was one of the tastiest takeaway snacks I've ever had. If you are in the area, just pop on in and give it a go - you will not be disappointed.

We noticed a sign advertising takeaway food at Mackenzie's Store, Staffin and were expecting sausage rolls and baps, etc in this remote Skye community. Imagine our surprise to find a great selection of takeaway food, freshly made and including a great chicken tikka and nan bread as well as other Indian food.
