A good pub/grill. Friendly staff. Karaoke and live music and open nic nights. Very reasonable prices.

Place was really cold not for first time so bad had to leave a few others left aswell .not the staff fault they must have felt it as well

This once was a great chippie. Alas no longer. Hubby purchased fish and chips. The batter was falling off as it was so soggy. Chips were so dry and overcooked. They better get another fryer or they will go out of business. SAD

Well I never……the chips as seen in pic were dry, overcooked, dark and shrivelled up. Been here frequently and I think this is the worst set of chips I’ve had. BUT……fritters and pizza were awesome!

Have been few times to this Garden Centre. It is just fabulous. Restaurant great too. Table Service which is lovely. Food excellent and cakes are fab too great selection. Staff so nice and helpful. Certainly be back. Jan Smith

Really nice food and very fast service. Delicious. Would definitely eat here again. I had soup of the day which was broccoli and goats cheese. So much flavour and a nice texture. Also the steak which was soft and a good sized portion.

I ordered a regular Iced Vanilla Latte (£3.95) and my girlfriend ordered a regular Iced Caramel Latte (£3.95). We got a piece of Creme Egg Brownie (£3.25) to share as the prices of the cakes were ridiculously expensive for the portion size given. We also got a portion of fries (£3). The piece of brownie we were given was so stale you could’ve built a wall with it - I highlighted this to the server and she replaced it with a fresh piece. We liked the coffee, the brownie was nice and the chips were adequate. Overall, we would return for the coffee if we were in the area again but feel their prices could be a bit more reasonable.

My friend had a hair in his chips and I felt sick and I don’t want to go ever again the chips are normally very good but today they were rubbish

Decided to give pizza pad @ behind the wall a try. We were seated fairly quickly. Drink order taken and provided quickly, then food order taken quickly. Our order was for 2 pizzas and a side of fries. I did notice the menu was fairly limited for pizza choices, it would be nice to see this open up a bit more. Whilst our drinks and food orders were taken quickly the service itself was quite slow, we probably waited about 25 mins for the pizza to arrive. However it was fairly busy and to be fair it's quite new so probably still finding their feet a bit. On a plus note the pizza was made freshly and it was served very hot. The pizza was really nice, it had a lovely thin crispy base which we both love. The french fries never arrived at all, these are made in a different kitchen downstairs. We felt disappointed about this, it's a shame that the kitchen downstairs can't support the business upstairs a bit better than thay did when we were there. In the end we said to the staff to cancel them as we had finished our pizza and the fries still hadn't arrived - this was approx 45 mins after our order was taken. The staff themselves were very apologetic about it and ensured that we weren't charged for them. I'm of mixed views on the prices, whilst the basic pizzas are reasonably priced the extra toppings are a bit expensive side. The staff seemed really nice and took the time to talk to us which was really nice. I think with a bit of time to find their way this could be a fab place. I would absolutely recommend giving it a go.

Don’t come if you have any kind of schedule to keep to. Waited 5 minutes to be seated while we watched staff chatting 10 feet from us. Took 35 minutes for an order of 3 coffees and 2 scones to arrive after sitting on a counter for 5 minutes getting cold as wait staff basically wandering around in a dwam and in no hurry to do much of anything. Pretty brutal experience.

First time ordering the food. Absolutely delicious. Really enjoyed the burger, chips and nan. Definitely will order again.

It's a good chip shop, fast and friendly delivery, chips and fish really are as good as they were in the past, minimal difference if any, when a shop has been providing food for nearly 50 years it might be easy to have unrealistic nostalgic expectations however I feel the product does indeed hit that target. Other reviews complain about problems that all fast food encounters when being contained in a bag or box, that is remedied by opening the container and letting the excess steam expand out of the food for a few minutes before eating, never had a soggy fish and chips yet. Another moan I see in the reviews is about the attitude of the proprietor, I pay for good food and sensible delivery times, those are always on point. Would those complainers be happier if the proprietor was excessively friendly yet the food was bad and delivered late ?, in my view this is what counts, the food, and I have never had any bad experiences in my dealings with staff or proprietors in this shop. La Gondola is still one of the top chip shops in Scotland.
