My husband and I love to hop in the car and explore. Just before Christmas, we discovered a charming little garden center. We made our way to the back of the building, where the café was located. It definitely felt like a hidden gem, not typically visited by tourists, and I found it so delightful. We enjoyed some tea and pastries, and I ended up losing track of time while shopping for Christmas decorations and shortbread. The staff were incredibly friendly, which is always a common theme in Scotland! I was pleasantly surprised to learn that they knew about my university and even had family in the same state. It really is a small world!

This is the very first time my friend and I have had lunch in this cafe/restaurant. Douglas is the chef and Lesley the manageress. It was busy. We ordered chicken with creamy pink peppercorn sauce, and shallots, parmentier herby potatoes and green beans. It took a little time to come as it was freshly made to order. And we both thought it was absolutely delicious. Beautifully cooked, the sauce wonderfully light - though there was cream in it - potatoes tasty and the green beans perfectly cooked al dente. Michelin Star venues eat your heart out. This was followed by a little French fancy and a lemon meringue pie with cream for desert. All in all a very enjoyable lunch. We spoke with Douglas the chef and Lesley the manageress and told them both how much we had appreciated our lunch. We would say that this is a little gem of a place. We will be back!!!

Upon arriving for coffee and cake 25th July 24.. I noticed a HUGE blue bottle fly buzzing amongst the selection of uncovered cakes inside the cake cabinet..I immediately informed the staff of the issue ..I was informed that they were aware of the said problem fly/flies and they said the flies even make theyr way into the cabinet when the cabinet doors are closed .(omg)!!!.I asked what would happen to the contaminated cakes as in my opinion they should be removed and binned, but to my alarm the member of staff said that it was only a fly and she wouldn't have a problem consuming the cakes that the fly or flies had crawled over..!!! no attempt to remove these was made while i was in the coffee shop!!!..i find it absolutely disgusting that these were not removed immediately and the reaction of the staff even more so !!!! I pointed out the health risks and potential complications to the members of the wider public of these being continued to be sold after watching this incident, but they did not appear to be intrested !!! I WILL NEVER BE BACK HERE .!!!!!!!!.

Slowest service in Scotland. Queue became longer yet the manager failed to deploy additional staff. Did the manager care? Staff failed to clear used plates - I saw waste food on the floor. Restaurant was cold. Attitude of staff indicated they wanted to be at home. After waiting longer than expected, we were not willing or able to wait any longer so we left.

Service wasn’t good today at rouken Glen.I ordered two coffees with cold milk and one mars bar cake.Arriving at our table I discovered we had no cold milk. I returned and had to interrupt service and twice had to say it was cold milk. Then found we didn’t have a teaspoon. Again I had to return and ask for a teaspoon. The mars bar cake collapsed and was a mess of rice crispies. The cafe was freezing but that is usual for rouken Glen the heating is never on. Won’t return or recommend.

1st time I went we waited so long for our pancake breakfasts our hot drinks were cold and although it looked appetising we realised with our first mouthful the pancakes were burnt black underneath. They did however replace them quickly. Decided to give the cafe another try today. Again ordered 2 rounds of pancakes, 1 with syrup the other Nutella. Cook came out and said they only had 4 pancakes. This highlighted that although the pancakes looked as though they are made fresh they're obviously just bought in and heated up. I opted for something else to eat so my daughter could get the pancakes. They were brought out to her with what can only be described as chocolate moose! It was definitely not Nutella!. Pancakes were so dry that she only ate one. £20 breakfast was a waste of money. Will not return and will not be recommending.

I stopped in for lunch yesterday while waiting on my dog who was in with the vet. I ordered a baked potato with savory cheese and a bottle of snapple - it came to an eyewatering £11.95. The baked potato was distinctly average and came with a small side salad. Not worth the price. This is a really shocking price for something that should cost easily half.

Plus points were that the place is spacious so we got a good seat. One staff member at the counter was licking fingers to move through her order pad... A big no no for hygiene. If you have to do that get a wee dish of water. Also seen chewing and wiping across nose. I studied microbiology...bacteria and viruses do exist. Food was nicely presented and I believe the toasties were good. I had a baked potato. Small and some a little overcooked. And I found the egg mayo and the coleslaw had an unusual taste. So overall I didn't particularly enjoy the meal but we did have an enjoyable lunch and chat.

Popped in for coffee and cakes, wide choice of cakes all looked nice. We decided instead to have main meals. These were freshly presented and freshly cooked but overall dissapointing as quite small. I got about 8 pieces os scampie which was fine but only about 8 chips and a very small portion of peas £11.95. We also ordered steak pie, again very small potion . Had it been £8-9.00 we wouldnt have had the expectation we did. Called in last night for a look around and was an OK looking Garden Centre. We were looking around and noticed the staff looking interconnecting and outside access doors, to which I asked what time do you close. Five was the reply and it was 4:50pm.So our mistake for calling in so late, but got the feeling they were all desperate to get us out etc. But why do Garden Centres close at this ridiculously early time at the busiest time of the gardening calendar? Any how we grabbed a plant and stood at the till while we waited on a member of staff to notice us from getting ready to bail out by the looks of things!!The plant was £4.59 and the young lady said debit cards to a minimum value of £5 only.As that's all we needed and nothing on the counter to make up that difference said, just make it a round fiver then. As in paying more not less!!To be told they can't do that either! So we had to leave the plant behind and go elsewhere. Not a good experience in that garden centre that's for sure.

Don't go expecting a 5 star restaurant. It's a garden centre and decent for what it is. Coffee and snacks are adequate.

Over priced and over cooked a cheese toast is that menu stated was on brown or white bloomer bread with salad £4.95 in fact was two slices of the thinnest brown bread and cheese was burnt round the crust salad two bits of lettuce and slice of tomato. A toastie a sandwich pot of tea black coffee and Childs meal just over a pound change from twenty pound won't be visiting again and won't recommend it to friends. Worst place I've eaten in

Ein wunderbarer Ort um Zeit zu verbringen. Man findet immer etwas. Tolle Nieps und Napps die man braucht oder auch nicht. Der Lunch war lecker und die Sitzgelegenheiten einfach schön. Wahrlich einen Besuch wert.

Really feel there is no point in visiting . The owners have given up . Like a rummage store . Untidy , dirty and very uncared for . Needs gutted and redone . Nice things but 20 of each item thrown 2gether . Don't know who dresses the place but needs a good talking to as they r obviously not doing the job they r paid for . Loads of tat . Never changes . Nothing runs together . Just thrown out . There is no pride in the place . So sad , loved to visit with the kids but will give it a miss now !

Good choice of food for a light lunch.Restaurant clean but basic.Prices reasonable. We chose to have our food first with drinks when we had finished. We were told just to come up and collect our tea at the counter.Try as we might we couldn't get the attention of a waitress. This concluded with us waiting again in a que that took us another 15mins approximately to get served.I didn't feel this was an acceptable time to wait for a pot of tea.Having said that it was a lovely cuppa.Would I go again.?Yes but would probably take our tea in advance of the meal meaning it would be cold when coming to drink it.

We used to visit here regularly many years ago and recently rediscovered the place. The,emu here is all homely fare and comfort food with nice baked goods and cakes and it is all good. It is counter service and the staff are really nice you just feel the place could do with a full refurbish and maybe an updated menu but that said there were not many empty seats so traditional is popular. Must also say the pricing here is really great value for money without the usual drop in quality so worth a visit if you are in the area. The garden centre and shop are great too.

I stopped at the rouen glen for a coffee on my way home from Burntisland, well my first impression was it looked a bit run down ,on entering I was amazed at the amount of goods on sale ,from books to expensive ornamental goods and now Christmas goods and a fabulous range of garden furniture and lots more.the cafeteria is oldies type but the fresh baking and sanwhich especially are brilliant, the staff are very sweet and helpful and the coffee is good,I have had nice visit and will visit again, and is worth a stop for a tea or coffee.

We passed this on our way to the House of Binns and it looked fine, so we drove back for coffees. What a mistake.!!! The floor displayed looked ťacky unprofessional with no flow. Immediately on entering we had to walk through a semi placed Christmas area, oh dear. Too early but so pathetically set up. To carry the Router Glen name we expected the same as the actual Rouken Glen, Park as Glasgow... This is a joke!!! What a disgrace to have this 3rd rate place in your group.Displays covered in dust n bird poo.Into the... Well what do I call it, eatery?? Shambolic!! Washed out pink walls, dreadful wall hanging all around randomly hung. No continuous tray holder along counter. Different coloured areas of tiles on floor. Kitchen doors open, and the worst laminated pictures all over a wall of what they serve. How dated. Like some 60s transport cafeIt was so awful we had to laugh, to food was 3rd rate too. The tables n chairs just awful. Not to mention strips of wrapping paper used as display backing. One we couldn't stop laughing at looked like satanic crosses...see photos... What on earth was that all about.!!! At entrance a set of plastic would be cast iron look seats, with dreadful dated pictures hung around.... is this the best they can do to encourage customers to purchase?? Never will we return. Plenty of other modern clean places to visit

First visit with my wife and a family friend. The restaurant is just so 'downmarket' compared with the other elements of the centre. Very reminiscent of a poor school canteen. Very disappointing.

I fell off my bike and sprained my ankle nearby. I picked my way along the road and came across this place where I called my wife from my mobile to ask her to come pick me up. Knowing it would be a while and not being in a good state I thought I'd get a cup of coffee while waiting. I didn't have a lock but the very large vestibule at the front had tonnes of space, and I went to put my bike inside, well out of the way, between some trolleys and the wall, when I was sternly told I couldn't leave it there. I explained my situation to the lady but was firmly told that I'd have to stay outside with it. Thought it was a bit off, it wasn't going to cause a trip hazard and I've had more accommodating experiences in smaller places and restaurants where they went out of their way to get the passing trade in.

The tea coffee and snacks are fine. The cake portions are big as are the merangues but this is a case of quantity over quantity. The basics eg. omelettes and chips are good and value for money but the service can be very hit and miss. No pork products are served however it would be good to let customers know this as a ham & tomato toasting/ sandwich or bacon roll is the sort of food you would expect from a garden centre cafe. Not good for breakfast.

After planning a garden shop today with my disabled & elderly grandmother, I called the shop at 4.40pm to double check the closing time, I was assured the centre closed at 5.30pm, so we had little time to squeeze in a shop but thought it worth the effort of trying to make it before it closed. We arrived outside at 5.10pm and found both entrance gates to be padlocked shut & the centre in darkness. I have just now looked online and apparently the shop was to close at 6pm today and not 5.30pm as told over the phone! I was very disappointed as was my grandmother, if we had of known they would have closed an hour early we wouldn't have bothered leaving the house. Terrible customer service.

Went for meal with my husband, sister & her husband, and eat here frequently. However out of 3 meals ordered, they came to the table wrong despite the waitress taking the order on her pda. My husband had his plate put down and half his fries fell onto the floor. Two of us had ordered potatoes & salad with our steak, no other veg and no dressing but guess what? We got fries, onion rings & dressing. My sister ordered sirloin steak but was told there was none. Our desserts weren't to the usual standard either. Really disappointing. Service wasn't that great either. To say the prices of the meal were raised 25% too recently didn't go down well with what we had. I think we'll need to find somewhere else to go now.

We decided to go out for something to eat fairly last minute on a Saturday night and booked a table for 4 - we had a thoroughly enjoyable meal which was excellent value for money. The staff were very friendly and the service really good. They were also very flexible with menu options to accommodate vegetarians (as there wasn’t a great selection of vegetarian food on the menu). We have been before and forgot to leave a review which would have been equally as positive. We will definitely go back and recommend to others. 😊
