Dont bother. We arrived Sunday lunchtime on a lovely sunny day. The garden area was full of detritus, apparently from a party the night before - not sure why it hadn't been cleaned. There was zero white wine available and no real ale. No food either as they don't have a chef. We left. A missed opportunity.

Got there as staff arriving but that didn't stop them serving us. Lovely lady. Sat outside as lovely sunny day. They have open and closed in seating outside. Dogs only allowed on leash outside but not a problem. Would say inside quite dark but some may prefer to get out of the sun. Loads of parking and nice canal walk just outside taking you to the Falkirk Wheel.

Arrived here after seeing it advertised as a pub stopover for motorhomes. On entering we were informed that it was not serving food, although it was advertised. This am not thankful for. Staying for one drink, we seen enough. This is obviously a local hole. Locals, singing at tops of there voices, youth drinking and taking much more to powder there noses, beer garden stinking of weed. Location opposite a council estate with house and high rise flats. Would not recommend to anyone.

What a welcoming pub. Can't provide food but recommended good local take away, Lucky Ho. When we went to pub plates and cutlery waiting as well as a great bunch of locals. Thanks to Willy, staff and locals for sorting us. Should say they can't provide food as they are struggling to find a chef. Campervan overnight in the car park.

We went in on a cold wet October night and the barmaid(manager?) invited us in even though they were not serving - and allowed us to eat from just eats and gave us plates, sauces and cutlery. Everyone was friendly - we had conversations from footie to the merits of Steeleye Span, the jukebox was amazing. This is customer service at its best - highly highly recommend them and we go and eat there when we can

Good stopover for a motorhome. No electricity, water or waste disposal, so you won't want to stay long, but it was great (and free) for one night. No chef at the moment, so it was over the road to the chippie, but we brought the food into the bar, and they happily brought us cutlery and condiments (for the price of a couple of drinks, of course)!

Stopped off on a sunny Saturday afternoon for some food. Lovely building with a great setting on the canal. Beer garden was busy. Inside the bar area was busy but not too noisy. Had a short wait before being told just to go through to restaurant which was situated in a conservatory, which was lovely. Drinks orders taken quickly and arrived promptly. Food choice was good for a pub with the additional choice of pizzas. Food arrived quick and was hot. Chips were good, very small piece of pastry however the beef was plentiful and delicious, veg was out a packet. Fish was nice but also possibly frozen as was quite watery but still food was very good for pub grub. Staff were polite, professional and friendly. Atmosphere was good.

Discovered this place whilst cycling from Loch Lomond to Falkirk. Steak pie mash potatoes and veg was amazing. The pastry was well made. It did not fall apart. The meat wasn't too tough. It more or less melted in my mouth. My Guinness was lovely and cold. The sticky toffee was beautifully done too. For less than fifteen quid I have no complaints only compliments. The staff were also friendly and attentive. I was nice chatting to Mick Dundee, a regular from the nearby town.

Very quiet, late in lockdown, and not doing food at time of our visit, although staff said that it would resume in April. Attractive canal side location between Falkirk Wheel and Kelpies, likely to get much busier in summer. Extensive outside seating area, and traditional wooden gantry bar. Adjacent car park large enough for motorhomes.

In these strange times I think we should applaud places which are able to open, provide a warm, friendly service and follow the new rules. We stopped at the Union Inn after visiting the Falkirk Wheel. Although the kitchen was closed (things still getting back to normal after lockdown) we decided to stay for a drink as the woman running the bar was so friendly and helpful, more than willing to describe alternative spots we could go to. She was very clear about the procedure regarding sanitising and social distancing and helpful throughout. Also, there's free parking.

Staying nearby we ventured out looking for food and stumbled across this place saying it served food! Started walking across the car park with my partner and two year old in tow, only to walk past a couple of dodgy characters in cars waiting for what we can only assume as being ‘clients’ and a few underage girls very underdressed, we put our heads down and continued. As we got closer to the door we were greeted with shouting and heckling! The phrase that stood out was ‘ someone gonna get out there and tell them this is no a family friendly pub’! Say no more we stopped and two young males again we presume under age came out the pub past us with their eyes doing all sorts of acrobatics, one of them continuing on to the dodgy guy in the car to collect his ‘food’ we presume! All in all never got in but we’re sold it by the previous family friendly reviews and good food! Glad we never went in and will definitely avoid this area in the future!

As a child my father would often say he was off to see "Aunty Kate", I assumed it was a relative I hadn't met yet. Years later I finally met up with an ex-Army friend and he suggested we meet in the Union Inn. It had all the charm and atmosphere of the traditional Scottish pub, no frills, just very friendly staff and locals, with frequent visitors travelling the adjacent canal. There were four Americans there the day I visited. Car parking is generous, large beer garden, and traditional Scottish food served, my friend went for "stovies" and seemed impressed. Not exactly a walk on the wild side, but you get the impression that this pub has seen more than it's share of good times, I'm only sorry it took me so long to get to appreciate it!

Put your foot down quick and head to the bar.

We cannot fault the staff, especially the chef and the service but the food was really average. Vegetables and chips were frozen and the steak pie we are pretty sure was just tinned beef with a small puff pasty circle on top - not a pie! Stopped here for lunch on our way to the Kelpies on a narrow boat, and again for drinks and dinner on our way out. Friendly wait staff and friendly locals. We enjoyed our visits although the food was pretty average. For lunch we ordered the carrot soup-which was pretty good; garlic mushrooms which were really good! For mains we had a baked potato and salad-both were okay, but on the small side; scampi which was bland and the haddock, also okay and a panini sandwich. All were good, nothing spectacular. A couple days later we stopped for a late dinner--really appetizers and drinks. The mac and cheese was creamy, but a bit bland; steak pie was really good though. The cheese toasty was pretty bad---some melted cheese between some bread slices and cooked on a panini cooker--so very dry and over cooked...essentially inedible. Service was fast and friendly though. Nice place to stop in for a pint. Okay on the food.

We had a meal in the Union Inn recently but we were somewhat disappointed. The service was fast and friendly and as it was a cold, wet evening, the bar/restaurant was cosy and inviting. My husband's order of haddock and chips was sub standard. He reckoned the fish was cooked days ago and microwaved after he ordered it. The haddock was soggy on the outside and dry on the inside as well as hotter in some bits and cooler in others. His chips were of the frozen variety. I ordered chicken curry and have to say it was lovely. It was home cooked, nicely presented and full of flavour. However, the menu stated that the curry would be served with a naan bread, which on this occasion never arrived. The waiter/owner only reappeared after we had finished our meals. I asked about the naan bread and his reply was that he forgot to order it. Interesting that he didn't say that when I ordered. I would have expected a discount but he charged the full price. Definitely will not be back!

First I would like to mention that it is great to see food being served again at the Union Inn. I am not a huge fan of pub food as I rarely see spicy options on the menu so I was not initially looking to eat here. The chef personally heard me discuss this when having a drink so offered to make the curry on their menu spicier to suit my preference if I was interested. I agreed and I have to say this was the best curry I have had in a long time!!! The curry was clearly made fresh and the portion size was fantastic. So if you love a curry then please come and try this when you are next in. The chef is happy to suit anyone's preference which is amazing service.

Decided as it was a beautiful day to try somewhere local and we went to union inn. We wandered in and ordered drinks as we were thirsty and hungry. Big signs outside said "food served daily". The bar maid was helpful but after we ordered our first drinks we asked for menus to be told that there was no food available on Wednesdays or Thursday's !! Hmmm sign outside says otherwise ! We then went to pay for drinks and were told we couldn't use card for drinks only food . As food was our main reason for entering we were annoyed we had to drive to go find a cash point to pay for our drinks . An offer of letting us pay for drinks this time by card As we had intended on buying food would have been nice . It would have cost the bar a couple of pence in card charges but would have meant happy customers and possibly further drinks and repeat custom. Apart from that the staff were friendly and setting was lovely with a nice beer garden . All it needs is a sign advising when they actually serve food and some customer service to solve issues and save a drive to a cash point .

We first visited this establishment 3 years ago when we had enjoyed a perfectly adequate meal. Last year we returned to be told there was no food as the chef had just that day walked out! We moored outside last night, and were told by the lady behind the bar that the kitchen had been closed all winter and was still closed due to a change of ownership and lack of demand. We recognised her as being behnd the bar last year. However the bar was festooned with adverts for food, including a very prominent sign offering chips at £2 and even offers specifically dated for 11th April . I found the attitude very insulting, I am guessing that she realised that we could read, so why treat as if we couldn't.? Shocking !!
