Meal lovely but a bit expensive ie £2 for a slice of cheese and £2 for two rashers of bacon to add to the burger and £3.50 for a small bottle of tonic to go with the gin 🤔

We are big fans of the Boardwalk. The restaurant is beautifully styled and clean. It's also fantastic to find a restaurant that doesn't allow dogs in, a real saviour for us, as we are allergic to them and we can relax and enjoy a meal properly without sneezing or feeling breathless. We are vegan and the vegan food is usually good but the last time we ate there, we had vegan burgers and they were terrible. They were undercooked and the presentation wasn't great. We will try again but we hope it will be better next time.

Perhaps the worst lunch experience ever and the most expensive steak ciabatta with caramelised onions and mango chutney inedible steak hardly any onions and definitely no mango chutney in fact a virtually dry ciabatta with a spot of coleslaw and a very small uninteresting salad price £13.95 it was dreadful and my Wife had a croque monsieur which she had to leave most of because the knife couldn’t cut throughout the bread and that wasn’t just the food. Two not very hot ( almost cold) cappuccino at £9 and when I reported the problem to them staff I was told they would let them Chef ??? Know.

Stumbled across this rather bizarrely decorated establishment when visiting the area recently. Food was passable but the plate mine was on was filthy, looked underneath and it was revolting with dried on food all over the underside of the plate. It was mentioned to the server but I doubt it wen my further. One to definitely avoid in future unless you like eating your rather expensive lunch off filthy plates 🤢

Visited on Saturday evening without booking and managed to get a table. Food was nice but not hot enough, average sized portion. There were only a few customers left when a female manager/supervisor gave the staff a bit of a dressing down. Perhaps she should remember there’s a time and a place We had to ask twice for the bill. Improvement needed.

This place on the face looks excellent, it’s beautiful inside, first time here so had high hopes. Staff need training, they lack any sort of relaxed interaction with customers but were pleasant, took 15 minutes for first drink to arrive, food arrived very quickly which was a worry. Do not order nachos. A place like this serving guacamole out of a bottle in this day and age is beyond a joke. Chilli and Parmesan fries lacking in any sort of seasoning or flavour, funky tasting tomato ketchup paired along with it was very dissimilar. Ordered another drink and had to leave before it arrived as lunch was over, it can’t take 15 minutes to pour a soda lime. Probably wouldn’t return based off the food quality but decor a plus

Disappointing. Arrived @ 11.30 am for snack / brunch / light lunch …. After being assured we would be served shortly we were ‘pointed’ to a seating area. After sitting, waiting like ‘The Invisibles’ with 1 waitress serving the area, we approached the bar & enquired if we would be able to have soup … no, only served from noon onwards … so mulled over as time is now 11.45a am., asked passing barman, who had been serving filled rolls to a table of 4 (benefit of the doubt … possibly ordered prior to 11.30 am) if any hot food was available … he would check with the chef … @ 11.55 am., we gave up … in the huff (possibly) … totally disappointed in service … absolutely!! On leaving the ‘restaurant manager’ approached us asking if everything was ok? Unfortunately everything was not ok. Disappointing … & sad as previous visits have been on point … certainly not this visit & will be a while before future visits. Disappoint.

The young staff are so polite and friendly. I had a baked potato off their new menu and honestly it’s the best potato I’ve ever eaten. Cooked to perfection and with a generous filling. Cakes are stunning and strawberry tart was massive! Couldn’t eat anything else all day! Nice to see a mirror in the disabled toilet. So many restaurants seem to think if you’re disabled you don’t need one! Highly recommended. If I could give it 6 I would. Hope to be back with family soon.

There was no sauce for my starter although I was told this before it was served to me. Then my garlic bread had no garlic on it. After finishing our meal the server eventually came to take our plates and I asked if it was meant to be garlic bread. She says it was although she didn’t think it looked or smelled like garlic. I was offered a replacement but considering it was meant to go with the meal I had now finished I declined. Then our dessert came with no cutlery. It took way too long to get anyone’s attention to get some. The waitress offered to pour my sauce because it was ‘hot’. It was barely warm enough to melt the chocolate on my dessert beside the mouldy fruit. I handed the fruit to them and was given no apology or replacement. Took ages to get any attention to pay the bill. When asked how everything was we told them that there were a few issues, he replied that wasn’t great…. Mistakes happen but the staff had many opportunities to rectify the issues and there were no attempts made.

So here goes. We did not complain in the restauraunt because all the staff we encountered were lovely. The food on the other hand was a different matter. If I got this food in a local pub that had cost me 8 quid I would not complain. However, more than double that price I have an issue. My friend got a ceasar salad and you could have bounced the chicken off the floor it was that tough. I got a salt and pepper chicken main and although the curry sauce was lovely (tasted like mayflower) the chicken was just like pakora without any seasoning and swimming In grease and some bits still looked like it had chicken skin on. My other friend got a haggis sandwich which she enjoyed but not what she expected for the price. Was literally just 2 bits of brown bread with haggis and a wee bit of cheese and a wee tub of coleslaw. I hate bad mouthing businesses especially when I have not complained at the time but due to some people commenting how much of a hard time staff get by management I was not wanting to add to their work stress. As I said the staff were really nice but the food not so much.

Update review (April 2024): Had our first visit back here after a series of bad experiences a few years ago (seemed to go a bit downhill after our visit back in 2021). Unfortunately, this experience wasn't much better. We visited for breakfast and despite ordering multiple same meals they all came with different items on the plate and we had to ask for the missing items separately. Service was slow and we were left for a long time between ordering drinks and food meaning we'd finished drinks before food order had even been taken. One point to note is that a 'pot of tea for one' isn't very big and doesn't go very far. Venue is on the high-price side given the quality of the food, service and overall experience. Venue itself has plenty of parking and is well kept/decorated. One positive note from our visit was that the staff were friendly and welcoming upon arrival. Overall, unfortunately had another disappointing visit so will be unlikely to revisit for a long time. Original review (2021): Nice restaurant, good service and friendly staff. Been quite a few times for evening meals, Sunday carvery, coffee and cake etc. Each visit has been great. There is both a restaurant and 'informal' seating area for snacks. Outdoor seating is available and it can be a sun trap when the weather is nice. Close to the Falkirk Wheel which is good too. Plenty of parking. Tasty food. Will return.

Having dined here recently and thoroughly enjoyed the offerings I invited some friends along to try this great find, my treat,,how wrong was i,three of us ordered the Sunday carvery, opting for the roast beef which was so tough and grissley I could still be chewing it,we sent it back, the third person did not wish to complain so took the beef home for her cat !! Opted for 2 more carveries minus the beef,,the staff did not replace our cutlery so had to go hunting for some,I had by now completely lost my appetite. I tried to get someone's attention for the bill but sadly could not do so,the plates had now sat in front of us for 20 minutes and it was not overtly busy, very annoying, went to the bar and paid, absolutely terrible service, I e:mailed head office customer service to let them know of the experience, they replied and told me of how great they are, great food quality, service, training, no offer of any complimentary dish ect,yet again let down by appalling service.will not be back.

We also had a child with a nut allergy with us, which was noted by the staff when entering the restaurant. Luckily we questioned the desert she had ordered, just to be extra cautious.....and yes it had possibility of containing nuts!!! Utterly shocking, young waitress was very apologetic, but sorry, this is not acceptable!! Lovely restaurant, but run by young inexperienced, moody teenagers, that clearly don't want to be there. I don’t normally leave reviews as in the rare event of a complaint, I like to give a restaurant the chance to resolve issues before writing a review. I hate having to slate any business. However, to say we left feeling disappointed is an understatement. I have been extremely disappointed with the complaint handling process also. We were visiting your restaurant as it was my father in laws birthday, and we wanted to celebrate it somewhere nice. We’ve dined at the boardwalk before and this seemed like the ideal place to celebrate. We travelled 25 minutes just to visit this restaurant. However, after our experience tonight, I won’t be returning nor would I recommend anyone to visit this restaurant. I’ve stated below the issues we experienced. 1. Starters Salt and pepper chicken. Both my wife and I had ordered the salt and pepper chicken special. The chicken was cold. I complained to a member of staff and they asked if I wanted a replacement dish. I had said no because I didn’t want to have to wait for another dish, a manager then approached us and asked how the meal was. I explained that I was unhappy as the meal was cold. I also asked if it should have been served with a sweet chilli dip, to which it should have been. So, they had to bring the dips over, which again took a considerable amount of time to arrive. He just apologised about this and said nothing else. Also, my daughter had chicken tempura for starter(kids meal), the special of salt and chilli starter was exactly the same as my child’s starter, but with some onions and peppers chucked on top. This was an additional £5 for this. This is completely unreasonable when considering how much the child’s starter was. Bruschetta My brother in law had the bruschetta. He explained to the manager that it was served on a slice of garlic bread, which was soaking wet and was not what was expected at all. The manager did apologise for this also but again this was all. There was no offer of a replacement dish. There was no explanation of your ‘policy statement’ which was later provided to me. See later. . 2. Mains Spicy nduja pasta My brother in law had this pasta. The pasta looked like it had been either under a hot lamp for a considerable amount of time, or had been reheated. He has explained that the pasta was extremely dry and tasteless. My daughter had ordered Mac and cheese and the portion size was the exact same as what was served for the spicy nduja pasta. This was not worth the £15 that was charged. Classic fish and chips My mother in law had the fish and chips, which again was missing the tartar sauce. We explained that it was missing. It took the staff a further 5 minutes to bring the sauce that should have been provided in the first place, resulting in the food not being as hot as it should have been. 3. Service The service provided tonight was below par. We asked for tomato sauce, mayonnaise and vinegar and asked for enough for the table. It took at least 10 minutes for sauce to arrive. By that it time, I had finished my chips. I decided I didn’t want to wait for the sauce, as the previous experience showed that they wouldn’t be provided quickly. So couldn’t properly enjoy my meal. When it did arrive, there was only one saucer of each sauce, so we had to ask for more as this was clearly not enough for 5 people, so had to wait even longer for something as simple as sauce. This was extremely poor service. 4. Policy - be aware of this before dining here. At the point of complaint about the starters, I was never advised about your ‘policy statement’ company policy of being unable to retrospectively remove an item off a bill or offer compensation. I dine out often and in the rare event I have to raise a complaint, it can normally be resolved within the restaurant. This was not the case with boardwalk. They provided me with a letter explaining their policy along with an email address to complain to, to resolve my complaint. They didn’t resolve the complaint, they simply said sorry and that was it. It’s unusual to have this type of policy. Your staff should be making customers aware of this policy at the point of complaint and asking them what they would like to do. Not explaining a company policy at the point in time when it’s too late, which is at the bill stage. Where, at this point, clearly nothing can be resolved in the restaurant or clearly at all. The restaurant is more than happy to take your money for food and service which is quite simply below par. Previous reviews have shown that there is similar issues but clearly the restaurant have ignored them. So there complaints process does not improve the service, they are clearly knowingly providing poor quality food and service and not resolving these. It is simply not acceptable to be serving food that is below standard. The food was a considerable price and to be perfectly honest, I’ve had better quality from a Wetherspoons. I didn’t ask for the food to be served cold and I shouldn’t be expected to be having to pay full price for food that is substandard. To be handed a letter stating a policy is just a very poor way to treat customers. This should be resolved at the point of the issue. While I understand that mistakes can happen, the reviews show that what the head office promise, is not being followed through. Don’t waste your money, go somewhere else.

Items from all of our breakfasts were missing and had to be requested separately. Service was incredibly slow and seemed they forgot about us. Cannot say enough good things about this restaurant. From start to finish, it was fantastic. As someone with food allergies, I struggle to find places that have as much variety as here did. Not only that, but they were willing to make any and all changes should I need them. The staff were really friendly and the service was some of the best I have seen. The food was amazing and there wasn't a long wait for it either. Myself, husband and son, cleared our plates. The restaurant itself was lovely, the table was spotless and perfectly presented. One of the best dining experiences we've had. If I could give more stars I would. If we are ever back in Falkirk we will definitely be back.

Went for Easter dinner, food lovely as always, service has went majorly downhill Asked for a kids carvery for my 18 month old which was told they don't do, fair enough, a little disappointing as had it before. Was offered to half my carvery with him and given a little plate. Given a bit extra at carvery too which was helpful and server there was lovely, so not all bad. What was really disappointing and a let down though, was the lack of service. Had to ask for a drink, waitress had to get someone else to serve me so another 5 mins. Had to get someone else's attention for food order, then again for an extra drink then again for water. No one came over to ask if we needed anything. Lots of very young staff wandering around looking miserable but nowhere near the tables. Very difficult to get anyones attention. Had to ask for bill 3 times, 3 different people. Cappuccino also served in a massive mug, felt very strange and then had to ask twice for sugar. As a regular, we left a little disappointed

Were the other reveiwers eating in the same place as us ? What a great find! We spent the night on the Falkirk wheel car park with the camper, and were lucky to find this super eatery only 10 minutes walk away, we didn’t pre book but were well received and seated straight away without question, which we felt lucky about, staff were attentive, efficient and polite, food was tasty and plentiful especially for the prices and the decor had a lovely contemporary feel, all in all a lovely evening thank you 🙏

Met a friend for lunch. I was blown away by the beautiful decor. One of the waitresses wasn't the warmest person and looked very grumpy. I felt like she grudged us being there. I had a mushroom lasagne which was a couple of sheets of pasta, couple of mushrooms and cherry tomatoes. It was the smaller than the palm of my hand. The salad was even more microscope. I also had a regular lemonade and a tiny Eton Mess. This all cost £30 and I was still hungry While the food tasted ok, I was shocked at the small portions and high prices. Not worth the money. A shame because the restaurant looks beautiful!

The only positive comments I can give is beautiful settings and restaurant, some staff members welcoming not all, food not great, have been served better pub grub, wouldn't recommend or pay another visit

We occasionally pop in here for coffee but have not been for a while. At the time of writing this we have been sitting unattended at an uncleared table for 15 minutes. If the service matched the decor here it would be a big improvement.

Unfortunately not a good experience for Mother’s Day. Catalogue of errors. Pot of tea consisted of hot water no teabag had to ask for fresh pot. Two of our party ordered The Works breakfast no black pudding had to ask for that. French toast came without bacon again had to ask for bacon. Eggs Benedict muffins were so hard could not even cut through them. We complained but all we got was sorry to hear that. Won’t be rushing back

Visited Saturday 9th March. Absolutely atrocious overall. Charged £30 for x2 sourdough, poached eggs, avocado and a slice of bacon. With one filter coffee each. £15 for one slice of very thin bread, egg and avocado? Shocking! Especially when the full works is only £12 and this is fantastic food and value. Any desire to eat healthier or watch your calories here is not good value for money. The food itself was tasty, just an absolute con for the price. Some staff were friendly until breakfast put down, then they all disappeared. Some other staff were extremely surly. Had to wait nearly 1 hour - no offer of extra drinks. Finally gave up and had to go up to the bar to pay. We could have actually walked out without paying, at the robbery I endured I kind of wish I had. Terrible service, nice food, horrific prices and a beautiful restaurant. It’s all very strange, the feedback on tripadvisor is very fair in my opinion.

Last minute decision to book and we are glad we did. A friendly welcome when we arrived, shown straight to our table and staff were promptly over to get a drinks order. All staff professional and friendly. The food was lovely. I would highly recommend the smoked haddock and salmon gratin, it was delicious. We shared a tasty dessert and had had coffees. We will definitely be back.

We were so disappointed with the service on Wednesday. It took ages after arrival to take our order. When our main courses arrived, one of our party asked for vinegar, which didn't arrive. We had to ask for our again after 10 minutes and it then just dumped on the table at the opposite side to the person who had asked for it. After we finished our main courses, it took 45 minutes before anyone came near us to clear plates. At no point were we offered more drinks. When ordering dessert, I said I'd like a coffee after my dessert, but no offer was made to take a coffee order. When I later managed to attract someone's attention order coffee, she didn't ask if anyone else would like coffee, and virtually ran off. Others in the party did want coffee, so missed out. Getting the attention of any staff was virtually impossible. Staff were often stood together in groups of 4 or 5 chatting, but never liked over to our table. Even on arrival the welcome was non existent. The only time the service was attentive was when dealing with the bill. So disappointing. The food was fine, the service was appalling.

A disappointing visit for my wife's birthday. Food was expensive for what was served with poor service. Roast potatoes on the carvery were very poor quality(for the second time running) with some other food dried out. Initial drinks order served but no other offer of further drinks made during the whole meal. Noone cleared out plates after the main course until we caught their attention and had to ask for the dessert menu then wait ages for our order to be taken. Some portions pretty small, calamari starter and salmon main. Won't be back for a while

Staff were quick at bringing out your meal but I am afraid £35 for this, my partner was disappointed..certainly not a patch on Miller and Carter. Even the Haggis starter was miniscule.

The food is lovely. The standard dinner menu has plenty of choices. Food very fresh and well made. Portions not massive but quality over quantity. Kids menu had plenty choice too. However found the portion to be very small. "Fish goujons" was in fact just one small piece of fish and a handful of fries. For £7.50 it really wasn't worth it. For that price a small drink or a scoop of ice cream could have been included. Service was good. Not rushed. The restaurant is a lovely place. So clean and fresh feeling. Beautiful decor. I'll definitely be back but next time I'd just order my daughter an adults meal as it's better value

Prompt service and starters were good but unfortunately the mains were poor. My so called steak burger was cold and like rubber. The garlic bread in all 3 macaroni dishes were burnt. Sorry but the decor was lovely but pitty the mains were a let down.

I'm usually someone that recommends the Boardwalk, but I was very disappointed on my last visit. I ordered fish and chips - it arrived almost instantly, which always concerns me if fish has been left sitting out. The fish had not been cooked properly and was still semi-raw in the thicker parts. the chips were not hot. Obviously I sent it back. The lady offered me another one, but I was put off now, so she persuaded me to try the carvery - I asked if there was vegetarian options, as I don't eat meat, she advised no but plenty of everything else. I was then a bit disappointed that even the gravy was not suitable for vegetarian. It doesn't take that much effort to whip up a jug of Bisto. The roast potatoes seemed to be missing, the carrots in luke warm water, and the mashed potato had been sitting so long it was solid. I noticed that they stopped serving shortly after I sat down, so we were probably encouraged to take the carvery to use up the remaining food. So not a very successful meal. Unfortunately, then I was charged the full price of the carvery, despite only having a yorkshire pud and a few vegetables, and being served raw fish. Quite frankly I would rather pay more for food cooked to order. Can't say I will be back in a hurry.

After giving raving reviews for many years, I am so disappointed that the last two visits have been so disappointing. Nothing to do with the staff, they are so nice, but its the food that let us down. One fish and chips, two pieces of fish the same size as fish fingers with almost no batter, a little pot of chips and some peas. Second visit, half a fish chips not even filling the little pot. Breast of chicken, so small, very little haggis, bacon almost chewy and whole dish look warm. Very sad, but won't be back soon.

Shocking attitude and service. Booked for Birthday tea on Saturday night. Could not get a table booked beyond 5.30pm and then phoned to say five mins late but said they wouldn’t serve us as had to be in and seated and ordered by 5.30pm. As it turned out we got there by 5.30pm but drove past. Would not recommend or go again. Would recommend Chianti Restaurant tho - lovely staff and service and food

Waiting for meals for over 30 minutes. Other tables served. Meal obviously warmed up, hot outside, cold inside. Returned meal, refund issued, did not require any replacement meal. Soft drinks ordered and arrived just before we left. Issues with time waiting on bill

This chef can cook! Restaurant can be very warm if the sun is shine and can be blinding if you sit in the wrong position. I tried the chicken terrine was was ok but not the best. The steak and haggis pie is to die for as are the chef’s soups of the day. Breakfast in the main was fine however bacon too salty and had better potato scones but the best poached eggs ever. The food in this restaurant is the highlight of the hotel and would recommend eating there if your staying or passing.
