Good food, cosy and lovely staff

Worked with me and my dietary restrictions (gluten, egg, dairy) Best meal I’ve had eating out in a while. I was so grateful!

Sunday lunch with the parents, lovely meat and well worth the value for money. 3 courses is only £21 and the meat is incredible, 2 courses for £20 it's defo worth the visit of this out of sight but great place to eat. Staff very friendly and courteous.

Good quality food but rather cold, don't think they had any heating on.

Beautiful cosy wee place. The 2 ladies waiting on us were perfect hosts! The food was Devine. We both had the sirloin steak and it was cooked to perfection. Portion sizes were spot on. Onion rings were delicious in a lovely crispy batter. Dessert was to die for too. Highly recommend coming here if you’re in the area or staying at The Grange Manor Hotel like we are.

Was here on a weekday for lunch with my partner. Well decorated. Wasn't too busy but they did have a few tables filled. [To be updated re thoughts on food.] The hot chocolates we had were smooth, but mine arrived very much spilled. I think management would prove wise providing staff with some self balancing service trays. Service was okay, did feel like our server was waiting for her shift to finish. We were overcharged 40% on the 2-course menu, it was probably a genuine mistake.

Our booking was last Friday at 4.45pm so place was very quiet, as you would expect. We all enjoyed our meals. Only disappointment was we planned on ordering from their 2 and 3 course menu as it states this is available Monday to Friday between 12pm and 5pm but the waitress said last orders for that menu is 4.30pm!! Think they need to clarify this on the menu then as misleading and unfair. Meals from this menu are presented slightly differently but same excellent quality and great value.

I decided to go here for lunch a few months before Christmas as I was about to make a reservation for Christmas Dinner, thankfully I decided to check this place out first. Service was slow. I had the chicken and my veg was all cooked frozen veg. No taste. Some of the chicken and haggis was ok. Some was overcooked under a heat lamp probably for a while. Mashed potato was good. The persons I was with main course wasn't any better theirs was fish and chips with an uncooked batter! We complained and received the meals comoensated but this put me off booking there for Christmas. Won't be running back there anytime soon!

We had Christmas Day lunch here - party of 4. It was faultless. The food was delicious and well cooked, the staff were charming, efficient and friendly and the atmosphere was festive. Santa even made an appearance. It couldn't have been better - well done to everyone involved.

Lovely meal. Exceptional service. 2 waitresses on, and the place was full, including a party of at least 16.

We’d visited Cooks years ago and wasn’t impressed but our recent visit was really nice. Food was great. Service great too. Nice friendly staff. Booking was a bit awkward so would recommend just calling.

3 course meal with drinks. Delicious starter of lentil soup, mains of sirloin steak cooked to our preferences, followed with desserts of Arran ice cream and a sundae. All delicious. Service could not be faulted. Knowledgeable, attentive staff. Lovely greeting on entering Restaurant. Hope to return soon.

Thank you to the lovely staff who let us in an hour early! Food was wonderful and the service continued to be great. Ideal spot if visiting the Kelpies.

Great wee place for great food and service

Amazing food and excellent service! The Haggis BonBons were incredible, was my first taste of Haggis and I'm hooked!! Beautiful restaurant and very reasonably priced. Would highly recommend it!

I took my Aunt for lunch as it was her 90 birthday. The restaurant was lovely. Greeted by a lovely girl. My Aunt had her first cocktail! The meal was delicious and plentiful as it was from the special menu great value for money. The girl was attentive and when my Aunt's latte came she had put a candle in the shortbread biscuit as she wasn't having a dessert. What a lovely thoughtful thing to do. Will definitely return.

This has been on the list of places to try for a while! We went for dinner early on a Saturday evening. Food was scrumptious and the staff were friendly and polite. Our food arrived promptly. Would definitely recommend 👌

First time visitor, but will definitely return. Loved the decor, the setting and the ambience, only bettered by the service & tasty food on offer, which was top drawer. We were hoping for a nice, relaxing anniversary dinner and couldn't have imagined it going better than it did. Highly recommended.

After travelling around the UK, enduring no more than mediocre food and questionable service since lockdown, it was a fantastic surprise to actually eat great food and be served by very pleasant staff. We had ribeye steak and chicken fajitas and they were delicious. We would love to come back, when we’re next this way.

Good service, limited gluten free options but server had good awareness and checked with kitchen which great - had steak which felt was a little expensive and not great £28 ish (and no mushroom as stated !) sadly for money far better value in many other places in glasgow. Felt bit hotel prices (which in fairness it is!) not best food, was ok!

Great little bar / restaurant with some excellent food at reasonable prices. Service can be a little slow, though.

My daughter and I had Dinner at Cook's Bar and Kitchen. The staff were very welcoming, efficient and pleasant. Our starters were followed by seafood linguine and feather blade of beef - all excellent quality and taste and very substantial portions. Much as we wanted to try the cheese board, we just weren't able to!

Popped in to this fabulous eatery after visiting the Kelpies. We were warmly welcomed by a lovely young lady who looked after our table (3 adults, 4 children) from start to finish. The food, service and atmosphere was truly exceptional. Would highly recommend to all.

Booked luxury High Tea with Grange only to be told there was a wedding (wedding would have been booked well in advance) so we had to go here. Disappointed and wondered as to how they named what we got as it was not “Luxury” plate of mac n cheese, warned plates were hot-mac n cheese wasnt! One scone, a strawberry tart and Tea (which we had to ask for) bought this for my sisters birthday and was disappointed. Not enough staff for the amount of customers

Cant fault the food and the surroundings, however little dissapointed with service only 2 members of staff and we sat for long periods with empty glasses having twice to approach the bar to get srvice. Staff just seemed to be under a heavy load and unable to cope with the demand. One little other issue my wife noticed was when i put my info in the card machine to pay my £122.40 Bill she said the waitress stood over me and watched me enter my pin. Yes perfectly inocent and no disrespect on her part but not the done thing in my opinion. Never mind we gave it a shot but again food was amazing but wont be back sorry to say. Not willing to spend that amount of money for 2nd Class Service....

Out for Fathers day dinner with my husband, our daughter, son in law and toddler grandson! Lovely restaurant, very friendly staff, lovely menu, lots of choice, specials board and a roast menu (as it was Sunday) offering not one but 3 different roasts! Also a smashing kids menu which pleased our grandson very much! Food was all fresh, tasty and very well presented and also very reasonable! We all enjoyed what we had to eat, not a lot was left on our plates! Very relaxed atmosphere, no rush, we all felt very welcome!

Whilst many restaurants have reduced their menus, this one still has an impressive menu with plenty of variety. Food was great and service was prompt and friendly. Draft larger options are a bit limited.

Went for the Groupon steak deal with a glass of wine. Steaks were excellent great service and atmosphere would definitely return.

Service was very slow and food was pretty average. Had the nachos and it was soaked with salsa. A bit disappointing given all the positive reviews.

Very good food for reasonable prices

We went for a leaving lunch for a workmate. 10 of us at lunch ordering off the main menu and we're well catered for and food delivered quickly. I had the goats cheese and mushroom risotto and it tasted great. Had some food envy seeing the other meals coming to the table too. Good quality and quick turnaround for lunchtime period.

We thoroughly enjoyed our itison deal for 2 courses and a drink. Lovely friendly staff in fab surroundings. Great options on the menu. Highly recommend going for a meal. We will definitely be back.

My wife and I had a great Itison lunch and it was great from the service and the food were great the only slight problem was that the restaurant was cold but again heating is costing a fortune for all business premises so put some warm clothes on but other than that we couldn't falt it.

Was given a voucher to a steak meal, and I'm very glad I didn't pay for it. The steak was cooked, ok - the chips that came with it were obviously cooked from frozen and must have been the last remnants off the bag. I had a chocolate brownie desert to finish, and it wasn't nice at all. I have had better brownies from a supermarket. For what is being charged, I would have expected the food to be off a lot higher quality and not just just bought in frozen foods.

Great food served by a very thoughtful and knowledgeable staff

My first visit to this establishment and I thoroughly enjoyed it. The steak I ordered for my main was done to perfection. I shall definitely visit here again in the near future.

Not brilliant, a bit of a shame. The food took forever to arrive then when it did wasn't that hot, but was just about fine. I felt like it'd maybe been sitting out before it came out. Coconut Chicken goujons were 84% batter, 0% coconut, which was not good. The waitress with the groovy blue nails was great though, to be fair, compliments to her.

Great food nice and fresh not a bit of grease in sight the cooking staff obviously takes pride in what they do the waitress we had was very nice and friendly all in all was a very good experience 10/10

We had lunch on 6 February 2023. At first I thought it a bit more pricey than other places nearby but it was worth it. When we arrived we were quickly shown to our table. Sorry I don’t know the name of the girl who served us but she was very polite, helpful and smiley. We both had starters. Hubby has salt and pepper squid, which he said was some of the nicest he has had. Cooked to absolute perfection. I had the coconut chicken strips served with a warm curry sauce and it was also cooked to perfection, piping hot and delicious. For our mains, I had breaded haddock and chips. Beautifully cooked flaky fish and a big helping. My other half had seared lambs liver with bacon, perfectly tender and delicious. The service was excellent. Would highly recommend.

We both had starters, just enough and tasty. Our steaks were great, mine's was medium to well done and his was rare, both perfectly cooked and chargrill delicious. The desserts were gorgeous, can't wait to go back and try more of the menu. Staff were friendly and professional. We both thoroughly enjoyed the whole meal and plan to go back again soon.

We visited at an extremely quiet lunchtime which in hindsight on a Saturday isn’t a great sign. We waited 1hr 10mins for mains - starters were 2 kids crudities and 1 soup which took far to long to arrive and we had to ask for mains away. The order was taken incorrectly and no immediate apology was made, just simply “well I thought you said something else”, we did get an apology when the server returned to the table a second time. Other than that service was fine. The menu at first glance is appeasing but honestly I’m unsure what was made fresh and what was bought pre made and just warmed up. We tried the beef kofta espetada which comes with a flatbread, which was caked in flour underneath. The beef koftas were more like Swedish meatballs that had been severely overdone. The only thing that had taste on the dish was the sweet chilli sauce. On top of this you receive a marinara type sauce which tasted like cleaning products. Another dish claimed to have roasted vegetables which barely had been flash fried and placed onto a flat bread. The chips were pathetically under seasoned and quite greasy, the Parmesan and truffle alternative came with one shaving of Parmesan and were just wishy washy in taste. Most things tasted dry. The kids meals, mini fish and chips were fine. Really disappointing and to be honest we wouldn’t of ate it if we hadn’t of been absolutely starving. The place has so much potential, kerb appeal etc etc but the food really brings the standard down. I would not recommend.

In for some lunch/dinner and was very impressed as not only was the food delicious but the deal on meant that the prices were also very reasonable. Service was also really good and staff were very pleasant. Would definitely recommend this restaurant for anyone looking for a lovely meal, in a nice venue. Will definitely be back.

Fresh and delicious food. The wait time is there but the service is great. The is across The grange manor hotel. Nice space from a seating arrangement perspective. A decent parking space for people to park their vehicles. A very decent vegetarian options are available..which impressed me the most.

Another fantastic steak dinner at Cooks, a very pleasant and quiet place to go for a lovely meal. The staff are friendly and pleasant, and the voucher offers regularly published on certain sites make it a very affordable place to dine, especially in the current economic climate where everything has become much more expensive.

Could not believe how rude one of the waitresses was. Before even being seated and been given a menu we were asked what we would like to drink. Already felt very rushed. When the waitress returned with our drinks we kindly asked if we could order in which we had the following barked at us "I've got other people to deal with". We both looked at each other and questioned if we should stay. We gave her the benefit of the doubt and stayed. Once our food arrived it was given to us by a different waitress who again was fairly rude by slamming the plates down on to the table. We noticed that the same waitress that put our food down repeatedly was wiping the table next to us, and came over three times to the same table to listen to what we were saying. I have never felt so uncomfortable in a restaurant before. Food was very disappointing and bland. Once we had finished our meal we were sat for 15 minutes without our table being cleared. Bearing in mind there was probably three other tables in the restaurant at this time so was not busy whatsoever. We went up to the bar where we were repeatedly ignored by the first waitress that served us. After her walking past three times and ignoring us, my business partner asked politely if we could have the bill. She barked at him and said "I've got other things to do pal!". I have never been so tempted to walk out of somewhere without paying in my life. We then asked the second waitress if we could have the bill, in which she helped us. Unfortunately the food caused upset stomachs and sickness. I think Cook's Bar & Kitchen should really consider their staff and have a review of this vile and disgusting waitress. I was on a business trip and would definitely not recommend this place to anyone and would definitely not be returning myself.

Get dinner here and then head down to see The Kelpies. Perfect evening. Haggis Bon-Bons are DELICIOUS!! After all you hear about haggis, it seems like it would be horrible. I'm so glad I was adventurous and tried these. The staff and restaurant were nice. Recommend

We were looking for somewhere that served traditional home cooked style lunches at a reasonable price. Suffice to say we weren’t disappointed. We had the Lamb and the Steak Pie, and it was lovely. Zero complaints from us.

Came here (six of us) on a whim whilst visiting the Kelpies, nice little place. I had the Lamb and really cannot fault it, absolutely lovely. Wife had the Katsu Chicken Burger (again, lovely) and everyone else's food look lovely too. Thoroughly recommend if you are in the vicinity and want some lovely food! The staff were also lovely and friendly. Dog friendly too!

We had the light lunch option, 2 courses. Perfect portions, really nice fish and chips and then ice cream. Nice decor tho a wee bit noisy when busy. But would definitely return.

Very nice meal had via Groupon. Welcomed into restaurant with a smile always helps. Food was hot and tasty. Nice glass of fizzy wine. Was perfect after a day of Mountain climbing in the Trossachs.

Impromptu visit as we were staying nearby. Greeted warmly, ordered soup and a sharing platter. Both dishes were delicious and the tasting platter was fantastic. Highly recommend.

Reasonably priced food. Good sized portions. Good kids menu. Lovely service and staff too. I had my Grandchildren with us and they had spilt things. No bother to clear up the mess we made they said.

We visited here with an Itison voucher. Very friendly waitress. She was the only one working on the floor and managed to see to everyone and give excellent service. Great value for money for the voucher albeit fish main was a little small. Nevertheless, great...

Two of us had a v nice meal here last night. An overnight stop and wanting somewhere within walking distance. This proved a v good find. It is a 'pub food'-type menu, but it was v good quality and £55 for two, (incl. shared starter and shared dessert, two mains and two drinks) seemed okay. I would recommend the fajitas, especially the chilli beef strips.

We ate here a couple of nights whilst staying next door at The Grange Manor Hotel. The food was great with good choices. The staff were attentive, pleasant and helpful.

I had a mushroom and goat cheese risotto. While the food was very good, and the restaurant itself was comfortable, the server was very inattentive and made myself and my mother feel somewhat uncomfortable and unwelcome.
