We were recommended to go to Simpson’s by the wonderful staff at Peterhead Prison Museum, who told us they make the best soup there. Cold, hungry and excited at this prospect, we headed to the tearoom. Sadly the soup was off the menu for me, as it was ham & lentil and I’m vegetarian. Disappointing. My cousin enjoyed the soup. Instead, I ordered a cheese and pineapple toastie. I was asked if I wanted the crisps, salad and coleslaw. I politely declined the coleslaw but relished the prospect of the crisps and salad. The toastie was delicious. Imagine my surprise when my salad consisted of a very few bits of chopped iceberg lettuce, ONE slice of cucumber and HALF a cherry tomato! Not only that - just THREE crisps were placed on my plate. I’ve always wondered what happened to that other half a cherry tomato …….
Enjoyed a nice breakfast in the lovely setting of the garden centre restaurant. The young servers are very attentive and provide excellent service.
My husband had the Scottish breakfast which was huge and well presented. His sausage was a little tough, but everything else was very good. I had a croissant which I found a little bit dry.
Coffee was excellent. It's a lovely garden centre to wonder around too.
We went for lunch on a Wednesday when normally only bar foods are available but owing to a misunderstanding we expected a cooked lunch.
Their staff could not have been more helpful and moved "heaven and earth" to ensure that our party of 6 was provided with the meal they thought that they had been expecting
Cool in decor and atmosphere. Beware the yougest staff. The Lloyd Loom chairs of various style can be uncomfortable.
Breakfast, all served is quite poor. The "Fresh Orange juice" is not fresh but cheap.
Dinner in this room can be dull too.
My husband and I stopped by here for lunch. The train ticket we had purchased had taken us to Tweedbank, but we quickly reboarded after realizing there were many more options to be had in Galashiels. Dave's was one of the places that popped up after a Google query. Despite having just made it past the lunch rush, the person at the counter was very cordial. We told he that we were celebrating our first anniversary/latermoon and gave us a baked treat and a recommendation for a nearby park whereby to enjoy it. I'd highly recommend Dave's if you are looking for a tasty yet affordable lunch spot.
This was to be our one night of “luxurious accommodation” after touring for 10 days in b&b’s. Turns out that the b&b’s were the luxury (Water’s Edge Cottage on Loch Lomond, Heatherfield House on Skye and Springfield Lodge in Stirling, all superb 5*).
Paid £229.50 for one night back in March for a Superior double room, which now looks nothing like the current photo on the web site.
Old fashioned especially the bathroom, room overlooked the loch but through a small window you needed to be standing up to see through. Decided not to eat here so it was fish and chips in the car in Fort Augustus.
Much more expensive than the rest so our verdict was “very “disappointing” and a poor choice. Wine by the bottle not the glass!
Stunning coffee and cakes. Friendly and helpful staff and a lovely view of the boats and castle. More space would be good as it can be busy but worth the wait.
Servicio fantástico para noviembre! Y me dieron un descuento inesperado del 10% por traer a mi perro. Excelente 👌
¡Grandes granos de café también, por supuesto!
We had our Company Xmas lunch at the Next Chapter for 21 people. It was great, lovely food and exceptional service. I would definitely recommend. Big thumbs up. Thank you Brian! ☺️
We decided on an early lunch so were the second table in a very quiet bar, ordered lunch with a nice friendly waitress who came back after a few minutes to say the soup had changed but it wasn't to our taste. Still not sure how they'd run out of soup so early! The main courses were piping hot and tasty.
