Excellent wee cafe ,a hidden gem with a great selection on the menu, we ordered the tuna melt toasties, and we were not disappointed, very generous fillings with side of salad and crisps. Pot of tea and a black coffee. Staff were very friendly. The place was very tidy and clean. Excellent all round.

Located in the basement of the church this cafe is a hidden gem. There is a fantastic range of home made cake and savoury options and when we were there a really good art show too. Staff are friendly and prices are very fair so all you could ask is for it to be open weekends and evenings ! Well worth a detour if you’re in the West End of Dundee.

On our first visit to Dundee, my partner and I popped into this atmospheric church cafe for a cup of tea and a coffee. The staff were friendly and welcoming, catering well for dairy free options. As a charitable organisation the establishment runs on voluntary work and its menu is very fairly priced. It is evident that Roseangle not only caters for your tea, but also to the wider community, giving it a special and inclusive atmosphere. I look forward to returning for some of their lunch options.

A disaster from start to finish. My main gripe was the fact I myself am vegetarian and sons girlfriend pescetarian asked for golden vegetable soup......we only noticed after a few mouth full it contained chicken. When we complained the staff (2 really young servers) said 'oh we have given you chicken broth by mistake sorry' 'Sorry'you accidentally gave me chicken after 23 years of being a vegetarian does not cut it. Will not be back.

Roseangle cafe recently reopened... and it is great as it used to be. The menu has a lot of different new things including a great range of cakes and cookies and new sandwiches (best deal is soup + a toastie or a panini for 5.50£). It is the perfect spot for a good lunch in the area: staff are really friendly and caring, food is great and really fairly priced.

The cafe is laid back, volunteer-organised and a refreshing change from mainstream venues in the Perth Road. Expect coffee, cake and soup but at a saving to costa and other chains. Def a retro venue as it's an old church, but keep the faith and give it a try as every little helps these guys get by. Attached to the cafe is the Dundee Acoustic Folk Club. A real find with a monthly gig and it hosts some top Scottish artists. Worth checking their Facebook page for the latest gigs.

Visited here by chance when in looking around the vintage fair next door. Pleasantly surprised by this wee place which had a nice vibe and a slightly quirky feel with its mismatched crockery and cups. A community cafe run soley by volunteers. Tea and scone was tip top and very reasonably priced. I liked it very much and would love if it had a couple more sofas for a relaxing visit.

Now called the Roseangle Kitchen Cafe, this is a lovely place to come to. Warm and welcoming and informal, in the West End of Dundee, came here with friends after visiting an exhibition at Duncan of Jordanstone, the art college across the road. Good range of choices on the menu, lovely fresh soups, sandwiches and home baking. Well recommended.

The newly (re?) opened cafe has daily soup choices, sandwiches and toasties. And cakes.. lots of 'em! So I've settled into a soup and toastie deal routine (butternut squash today - delish and tuna toastie - yuum). And occasionally followed by a slice of cake (the size of my head).. sshh! Great service and tasty food - everyone's best idea of lunch, no? (and did I mention the cakes?)

I have been to the cafe several months ago, I remember a nice rich toastie and very good soup. Today we asked for a two simple cheese and ham toasties and the soup of the day. Well, the nice and rich toastie I had in mind was replaced by a one (1) slice of cheap ham, one (1) slice of cheddar in cheap brown bread slices. Looking at the toastie you could never guess what was inside. The soup (Portuguese beef and tomato) was to our taste disgusting, we could not finish it. The place has potential, for the nice location and the art exhibitions, but please do something to improve the food quality. Dundee has plenty of nice cafe where you can find really nice food (even vegetarian and vegan) for the same price. Personally I will not be back anytime soon.

I love this place (if you can't tell from the title). The food is just so darn wholesome and fresh and tasty. They do a great range of gluten-free, vegetarian and vegan food too. The atmosphere is very homely (it's in an old church) and the serving staff are just top-notch.

Having spotted the add for the blue grass/folk bands on a notice board in the Murraygate, we decided to see what like. Board outside the cafe, opposite the Art college in Perth Road, so easy to locate. Looks like a community initiative and volunteers in the cafe. Food looked very healthy inc veggie and gluten free. Laarge room off cafe was venue for "folk" bands. Next venue for the "Dundee Acoustic music club" over in Fife. A super venue for food and folk.

I visited this café for a meeting. Really friendly service with excellent cakes, drinks and dishes. Would return, also a social enterprise which is part of Craigowl Communities giving training to support people back into the workplace. Nice ambience and welcoming and friendly café. Only area for improvement is that they do not take card payments, only cash. Would definitely return.

Even though we arrived after 3.30pm and the cafe is meant to close at 4pm, we were served lovely teas and coffees with a smile and cheery conversation. The friendly man on the counter told us to take our time and kept the place open for an extra 20 minutes - excellent service! There were lovely cakes on display and prices in this worthwhile social enterprise are very reasonable. Definitely worth a visit.

Eat here on an infrequent basis. I like the fact there is something for everyone, from Vegan, to Nut allergy, to meat eater and everything inbetween. The staff are always most accomodating and welcoming, and really make an effort. The café is run by volunteers from all backgrounds, so occasionally patience is required. We think this adds to the charm of the place. Over the last year the menu has become less varied, which for us has never been an issue as everything is fresh, and where possible organic and locally sourced.A great wee find for good quality, reasonably priced fresh food . I can't wait till I have the opportunity to go back.

Lovely cafe and excellent food. It has a fresh, comfortable atmosphere and clean. There was a good choice on the menu for lunch and a choice of three soups. The staff, some being volunteers were really friendly and efficient. The prices are good and the food was impressive. I ordered a tea and was given a large pot which lasted me through to the cake selection! I would definitely go back and would recommend to others.

We were having a big group meal after a meeting and were looking for somewhere to have a relaxed shared meal - lasagnes with salads and sides brought to the table so that we could all dig in and continue conversations in a nice environment. Roseangle Arts Cafe couldn't have been more helpful; we had a few dietary requirements - I think between the 16 of us we actually ticked all the boxes as awkward customers, there were veggies, a nut allergy, a coeliac, a diabetic, as well as meat eaters who were happy with anything! All were catered (and cared) for with clever planning of recipes and two special platters to suit guests' needs. The food was delicious with plenty to go round and the atmosphere was lovely. They understood exactly what type of night we were looking for and arranged everything with that in mind. We wanted a casual type of service but they also do more formal evening meals some Saturdays or for private bookings if wanted.Catherine and Calum were really attentive and thoughtful in helping with arrangements in advance, which made us feel comfortable and certain that everything would go to plan on the night, which it did! Looking forward to going back.

We had our Christmas night out at the Roseangle Cafe on Fri 20th Dec 2013. Catherine was really helpful with organising things, and on the night we had a perfect evening.......the atmosphere on entering was cosy and Christmassy, the meal outstanding to say the least (how can sprouts look so tasty and appetising???), and the service and overall experience was excellent. As it is quite a small place and there were nearly 20 of us, Catherine let us have the whole place to ourselves which meant we could play daft party games etc so a great night was had by all......

This cafe/bistro can be easy to miss, tucked away in a garden by a church. But it's a hidden gem, and well worth taking the time out to visit! My partner and I went for an anniversary meal. While it was quiet at first, the atmosphere soon picked up. It was cosy, intimate and the service was great. I love the candles that decorate the place. They give the whole place a very fairy-tale feel. The food was very well prepared, and for once a restaurant had sizeable portions! I left the place with a thoroughly pleasant food coma. There is a nice variety of mains - lovely to see a vegan/vegetarian option available too. And the desserts are sublime.

Light filters delightfully down into the comfy cafe that nestles beneath the Roseangle church on Perth rd. The artists who gather to talk of projects over a delicately spiced bowl of vegetable soup, the ladies who've popped in for tea and a toastie or the business partners who've nipped out for a coffee and slice of cake look equally pleased to have found the space. Served by volunteers, the atmosphere is laid back and friendly and it looks out onto a fun gallery with changing exhibitions and a small shop selling cards, prints, textiles and recently time very nice coffee cups. well worth walking too.

Was lucky enough to hear of the new opening of the Roseangle cafe as a bistrot for dinner on Saturday nights. We speedily booked a table and went to the launch night and were very glad we did.Our welcoming hostess greeted us with a complimentary 'opening night' glass of prosecco and canapes which offered a promising preview of the new chef's dexterity with flavours and textures: delicate little pancakes laced with dill cream and twists of smoked salmon, juicy bite-sized burgers sitting on roast pepper, slivers of quiche with pleasingly light pastry, rectangles of crispy flatbread topped with herbed hummus. Serving staff, all volunteers at the cafe which sits with an art gallery in the undercroft of the Roseangle church, were friendly and the music provided by the Two Thieves, accomplished guitar and vocalists, made the evening swing. The food lived up to hopes. There were two options for each course and between us my partner and I sampled everything. A smoked duck salad, with crispy fragrant slices mixed through a nicely dressed green salad, pleased me as an oozy looking filo parcel of molten goats cheese pleased my companion. His mackerel main dish looked tempting, and I caught sight of a smooth creamy sauce, potatoes and pea puree alongside the fish and there may well have been other details. I enjoyed my lentil lasagne which was richly flavoursome and hearty and lightened by plenty of fresh leaves. We were tempted by desserts. I had a lovely Eton Mess which managed to appear looking unmessy in an elegant mound of crispy meringue pieces and juicy strawberries nestling in but not overwhelmed by cream. The rhubarb cobbler, baked to order, looked good and the generous jug of homemade custard was much appreciated. The cafe ordinarily stocks a fun range of drinks - from dandelion and burdock to juices and they are happy for you to take your own alcohol in the evening, although I don't recall what they charge for corkage. You can choose either two or three courses and three cost just under 16 pounds each. It was good value and the evening was relaxed and fun. The place glows with candles and little pretty white lights and is intimate without being twee or fussy. You may have noted by now that we enjoyed our evening. Apparently the menu will change each week so we shall certainly be back.

Don't know what happened to this place. Used to be excellent. Certainly isn't now. Food poor. The fun welcoming atmosphere absolutely gone. Having to go up to the till and order and pay each time you want another coffee ( or anything else) is a pain. Why can't it just be table service? Servers not all bad but they are not great either. They used to be excellent. Very disappointed with my last few visits. Time to go elsewhere.
