A cafe where the the choice of cakes, pies, scones etc are excellent and as good as they look. They also do good but plain lunches, not prepared like pub grub. The staff are very pleasant with street parking nearby. Prices are very reasonable.

Everything about this ,lunch was 5* for me … except my fish was slightly over cooked. The breadcrumbs were real, the fish fresh, but to overcook it broke my heart. No, I didn't complain, and that's why the 4*, no one asked.

This restaurant is superb. The menu is excellent, with plenty to choose from. They also do smaller portions for some items. I recommend their mince roll, with peas! The homemade cakes are also great. If only it was nearer Paisley!!

Stopped here on the off chance as we were passing, standard cafe menu but both the macaroni cheese and the leek and stilton flan were good. Would definitely stop here again but leave room for one of the cakes!

Have recently moved to the Monifieth area and decided to try the cafe for lunch whilst I get to grips with my hi tech oven ! Really enjoyed the food. Good selection for either a cake and coffee or a meal. The cafe got really busy and with only one waitress it is not a place where you should go if in a rush. However food was delicious and I thought it was worth the wait.

We went into the cafe today only to get ignored by staff then to leave without even getting a 'hello I'll be right with You' we sat there for 15 minutes then left, very disapointing. The place wasn't even busy! It was near empty!! Maybe making less noise chatting away among yourselves and having some manners might be a good idea.

A group of us when out for a walk popped in for some food, including bacon rolls and cakes, and all of us were delighted with what we got. It is not surprising that the restaurant was very busy.

Only ever visited for coffee and cake/scones, all baking done on site, fabulous baking, wide selection of goods. They offer an extensive menu covering hot meals also. The shop is small and very popular, better ask if you can book to ensure you aren't disappointed. The food is one thing you won't be disappointed in.

Had a trip up this way today with my daughter, and we stopped off here for a light lunch.First impressions were good - a clean, fresh and bright little café that has about 8 tables with chairs. They offer a selection of hot and cold filled rolls, baked potatoes, soup, breakfasts, toasties, coffee, cakes etc. I noticed that they also had homemade tablet and macaroons for sale.My daughter who is dairy intolerant opted for a baked potato with beans and ham while I quite fancied a hot mince roll.Service was very friendly, polite, efficient and a valid point to add is that we both felt welcomed. No complaints with the food, everything was perfect.A very busy cafe, particularly with locals I would say, and if I were to be picky we did feel a little out of place as we were the youngest customers!Would keep the place in mind though for future visits if ever out this way again.

Catriona and I had lunch here today. It's a fine wee place with a very friendly welcome from the serving staff. There is an impressive range of options on the menu.I settled for the vegetable soup and prawn sandwiches whilst Catriona had only the tomato soup with two breads. The prawn sandwiches were a meal in themselves. We both had cappuccinos to finish. The food and service were of equal excellence.

We came across this cafe by chance and it was a delight to find such an excellent place for lunch. The cafe is bright and friendly. It has four tables for 4 and four tables for 2. It is attractive with paintings pretending to be windows on two walls and other lovely paintings. The lunch deal of soup and sandwich for £6.20 runs from noon to 2.30 and is great value. This was our choice. There were two soups to choose from and a nice choice of sandwiches on either white or brown bread. Pea and ham soup was delicious and the freshly cut sandwiches were a delight. The service was friendly and efficient. We really felt we were being looked after. On display was the "Best Monifieth Business Award 2015" and given our excellent lunch this seemed fully deserved. The menu offered lots of other standard cafe type dishes - toasties, rolls, baked potatoes, as well as more substantial meal such as gammon steaks, breaded haddock etc. All the usual drinks are on offer. Breakfast is 9.30 to 11.30 and afternoon tea (£10.50 per person) from 2.30 to 4.00. There was a collection of delicious looking cakes to tempt one. This cafe was a great find.

We have lunched in the Laird's Larder twice now, and each time has been an experience that other restaurants and cafés should emulate. This time we booked in advance as there were five of us, and the booking was taken without any fuss ... unlike another place we tried to book in recently ! The surroundings are not opulent, but have a distinct Mediterranean ambiance about them. The service is uncomplicated, friendly and efficient. Nothing seems to be too much trouble and individual preferences are accommodated without the slightest fuss. The food is utterly sublime ! The home made soup is perfect, the sandwiches are just as one would want them, and the macaroni cheese is a masterpiece, especially so as the chips that accompany it if you wish are done to perfection. The coffees were done just the way everyone liked them and my tea was perfect. In short, I cannot recommend this little café enough.

Good fresh food, although the menu isn't very varied if your looking for lunch It's in a lovely setting and there's a small play park for children. Dogs are allowed and well catered for. There's plenty parking but this is where I felt badly let down. There is no allocated disabled parking! There was a challenging walk on my crutches from the carpark to the cafe as the surface isn't very wheelchair friendly. With the space available in sure there is an easy remedy and I'm sure we'll come back for more of the good food and see if they resolve the parking for the disabled.

The view from the dining room was lovely and the staff were super friendly and welcoming, unfortunately, the food was not great. The lasagne tasted like a poor-quality frozen ready meal and the mac 'n' cheese was not very nice. The chips were good, though. Unfortunately, for several days afterwards I had an upset stomach. Apparently, due to staff shortages, their menu was reduced and maybe they didn't have the qualified staff who usually prepare the food. Maybe we were just unfortunate and did not sample their food at its best.

Friendly staff, good service. Nice to sit outside and look out over the harbor. They do not serve food anymore, but they do have an ice cream bar daytime. Fair prices on the beer.

I've visited this cafe many times as we stayed outside Alyth numerous times throughout the year and more so when my sisters cancer was terminal. The reason I'm back today is to visit where their ashes were scattered as both my mom and sister are scattered here together. (We live in Wales) I would agree with many other reviews on here that this is not the friendliest cafe considering how lovely it is. I will point out that most times when the younger girls serve, they're very pleasant. I was here on Monday for tea and cake and the young blonde lady serving was absolute lovely and gave me the WiFi password, as I've also had on previous trips when I've asked. Nothing worse sitting on your own, Billy no mates and can't use your phone. Today I'm stretching and getting signal on and off. Anyhow, I came In today, Wednesday 16 October, no hello.. nothing. Sat down and rude woman appeared with pen and notepad..no hello.. just are you ready to order or do you need another minute? No smile, no pleasantries. I ordered I then went up to look for the password only for her to tell me there isn't one.. you can't have WiFi as we don't have it. I said it's showing up .. and I got it on Monday. No you didn't as we don't give it out... if everyone uses it our tills don't work.. Really ??? 🤔🤔😶🌫️ I said once again I got it on Monday. - no you didn't !! OK.. seemingly I'm a liar now 🙄🙄😔 Honestly I doubt I'll be back here as clearly the same woman, older, glasses and not a scottish accent I don't believe, Blue in her hair this time. You'd think after many complaints they'd do something about this.. unless she's the actual owner.. which sadly I hope not.. She does not make visiting conditions pleasant .
