The location was perfect for us, just at the end of the street we were staying on our holiday. The food was great, but the portions were massive, so bear in mind when you order. The girls who were serving were very friendly, welcoming, and smiling, which is rare nowadays.

Our visit was for my wife to Try a Smokie. I had the Chicken stuffed with Haggis. Our plates were cold when the food was served which is poor as the food goes cold quicker as my wife is a slower eater. The Smokie and Chips and the Chicken with haggis were fine but the carrots were tasteless. The staff were very attentive and chatty. To be honest with the prices of the food we expected slightly better vegetables. My pint of Pepsi was £4.50 !! That, is extortionate a complete rip off. Lager was the same price. We will not return unless I stay on tap water.

We had lunch at this place, found by chance while walking. We asked for two typical dishes and they recommended smoked fish, they are famous for it in this country. And also a classic fish and chips, both very tasty dishes. If we could have this smoked fish in Genoa... great experience like the amber beer. Thank you.

We had a meal here on a Sunday evening, it was nice to see the place very busy and booking is recommended. We are both gluten intolerant and find it difficult to find places that offer more than a couple of basic options. This certainly isn't the case here. There was so much choice that it was difficult to choose. We both had steak, it was beautifully cooked, and the onion rings were the best GF onion rings I've ever had. Great place to eat.

We were taken here by friends for an evening meal. The place looked cosy from the outside, and looked nice inside too. The staff were friendly and polite. We crab fishcakes for starters with sweet chilli sauce, these I really enjoyed crisp breadcrumb coating and sweet chilli was the perfect compliment for them. For mains we had fish and chips, as you do being on the coast. The batter was light but seemed a little greasy, I was expecting cod or haddock but I think it was bream, don't get me wrong I love bream but not battered, bream is best grilled or bbq'ed, chips were thick and crisp and the peas a touch hard, so sort of enjoyed it but I didn't if you know what I mean, so the big question would I go back? Only if they had more sea food options on the menu.

We both had the seafood crepe, which was excellent. The plate was too small for the generous quantity of plainly cooked peas and carrots, which were dry, unsauced, and tended to land on the table. I would gently suggest a larger plate or fewer plain vegetables. The crepe is so good the veggies almost let it down?

The Old Brewhouse, Arbroath is situated right on the sea front and the views are superb. We were in the Signal Tower room and the accommodation was clean and spacious with a relaxing ambience. We ate dinner in the downstairs restaurant and the food was fresh, tasty and portions are generous. As you'd expect at the coast, the fish is delicious and the haddock and chips were a winner with us. We'd highly recommend an Arbroath Smokie for breakfast. The bar is well stocked with lots of whisky and gins to chose from and the staff are knowledgeable. We'd highly recommend The Old Brewhouse - accommodation was perfect, they're dog friendly and staff really make a big effort to make guests welcome - great place to stay and eat.

**Review:** The smell of fish inside and outside the room was overwhelming. I understand it's a fishing place, but the lingering odor of rotten fish is unforgettable. Apart from this, the place was okay. However, the prices are high for the quality offered. At £130 per night, it's the same price as the Hilton Glasgow, yet there's no breakfast included. Regarding the restaurant service, the staff were peculiar and uncommunicative. My stay was a last-minute booking due to a job in Dundee, so I had to stay overnight. For any other reason, I wouldn't recommend it. I could tolerate the odor, but the poor customer service is unacceptable.

My in laws were staying here for a couple of nights and we came up as a day trip to visit. We had some light bites outside in the beer garden area. The carrot and coriander soup was absolutely delicious and the portion of chips were lovely! The chips were chunky, and tasted like proper triple cooked chips. They even brought us a bowl of water for the dogs, and helped us out with the drinks from the bar. This is the second time we’ve had drinks/food here and would definitely return. Staff are friendly. Luckily for us, the place was dog friendly and the waitress kindly brought Barony a water bowl and a dish of chicken too! For a shop that's next to the harbour there was more greasy batter than fish. The chips where frozen, soup was cold to buy the macaroni came out in a shallow plate still bubbling from being microwaved to death if the waitress had dropped the plate would have been 3 rd degree burns it took 3 minutes to stop bubbling on the plate Heinz tasted better that and two cokes £50 I dodge this pitch not the same as it was few years back big let down we left most of it on the plate. If there's a chef in there they should be ashamed of themselves

I had a smokie crepe which was nice but tasted very like the fish pie I make myself. It was served with frozen vegetables which is a massive negative for me. At a cost of £17.95 I don’t expect frozen veg. I always eat fresh veg at home so find this quite shocking. My friend’s veggie dish that was a lot cheaper was actually delicious as was my other friend’s cullen skink. Our desserts were lovely. The view from the dining room was lovely and the staff were super friendly and welcoming, unfortunately, the food was not great. The lasagne tasted like a poor-quality frozen ready meal and the mac 'n' cheese was not very nice. The chips were good, though. Unfortunately, for several days afterwards I had an upset stomach. Apparently, due to staff shortages, their menu was reduced and maybe they didn't have the qualified staff who usually prepare the food. Maybe we were just unfortunate and did not sample their food at its best.

Good fresh food, although the menu isn't very varied if your looking for lunch It's in a lovely setting and there's a small play park for children. Dogs are allowed and well catered for. There's plenty parking but this is where I felt badly let down. There is no allocated disabled parking! There was a challenging walk on my crutches from the carpark to the cafe as the surface isn't very wheelchair friendly. With the space available in sure there is an easy remedy and I'm sure we'll come back for more of the good food and see if they resolve the parking for the disabled.

I've visited this cafe many times as we stayed outside Alyth numerous times throughout the year and more so when my sisters cancer was terminal. The reason I'm back today is to visit where their ashes were scattered as both my mom and sister are scattered here together. (We live in Wales) I would agree with many other reviews on here that this is not the friendliest cafe considering how lovely it is. I will point out that most times when the younger girls serve, they're very pleasant. I was here on Monday for tea and cake and the young blonde lady serving was absolute lovely and gave me the WiFi password, as I've also had on previous trips when I've asked. Nothing worse sitting on your own, Billy no mates and can't use your phone. Today I'm stretching and getting signal on and off. Anyhow, I came In today, Wednesday 16 October, no hello.. nothing. Sat down and rude woman appeared with pen and notepad..no hello.. just are you ready to order or do you need another minute? No smile, no pleasantries. I ordered I then went up to look for the password only for her to tell me there isn't one.. you can't have WiFi as we don't have it. I said it's showing up .. and I got it on Monday. No you didn't as we don't give it out... if everyone uses it our tills don't work.. Really ??? 🤔🤔😶🌫️ I said once again I got it on Monday. - no you didn't !! OK.. seemingly I'm a liar now 🙄🙄😔 Honestly I doubt I'll be back here as clearly the same woman, older, glasses and not a scottish accent I don't believe, Blue in her hair this time. You'd think after many complaints they'd do something about this.. unless she's the actual owner.. which sadly I hope not.. She does not make visiting conditions pleasant .
