I am from out of town on business. Great side dish but terrible main. Considering its was a Chefs Special, lumps of over cooked chicken in a bland sauce. Absolute rip off. However Staff were quick to replace with my request of a small chicken tikka but still got charged with the main and then asked for a tip. If you are serving this quality food on a Thursday night as your main course for the price you are charging, you have a lot of ground to make up. This place seems to be on the thin end of the wedge. I would not recommend.

Stopped here for coffee and cake on a rainy day in the area. Good service, delicious cakes but on the expensive side for what they were. The menu for other options was extensive and the place itself quite cosy for a rainy day. The cash only sign was displayed on the inside of the door facing inwards which wasn't really very helpful.

Great atmosphere, popular pub, lots of varied and cosy places to sit, with live music on a Friday evening. On the Friday we visited the menu was limited, nothing like the menu that’s shown online. There weren’t any healthy choices; very difficult for anyone on a diet! Far better for kids than adults. Only two desserts to choose from. It has a Thursday Quiz night too. Although there are brewing vessels, which adds to atmosphere, beer isn’t in fact brewed on site anymore. New owners.

Atmosphere was decorated nice and the staff were polite and attentive. However, the menu on offer didn't offer a massive range for a Saturday lunchtime which resulted in me ordering 2 small plates. The first being buttermilk chicken that could have been served to a dog, the quality of chicken was really unacceptable for charging £7 for 3 small bits. It's the type of chicken you would throw away, it made me feel ill looking at it, stringy and black and awful. Chicken breast goujons cost nothing to serve to customers, guaranteed quality and taste. Then to charge £6 for 3 little frozen cheese jalapeno poppers again is just crazy. £4 for a tiny bowl of 'rosemary salted' chips which was non existent! Overall, the small portions for the price you're paying means we won't be returning for this reason. I suggest have a visit to The Daylight Inn pub in Petts Wood and you will see this pub needs food improvements.

Warm and friendly with the usual suspects on tap. A wooden corner with a bigger restaurant like space behind and well located. It just feels like with the name and large brewing barrel that you’d expect a more craft experience when it seems more of a dressed up sports pub (lots of TVs). Take care to check when the kitchen is open or you’ll be on crisps - it was closed at 6pm on a Tuesday. I’d return to have a pint of something comforting and Adnams is on tap, but I was hoping for something a bit more local - maybe even micro-brewery but it seems that’s something from its past.

Seems a decent enough pub but the only reason I ventured in here was to try some if it's own range of beers. Low and behold, despite calling itself a 'tap' house and having mash tanks it doesn't brew anything and has an uninspiring range of ales. Went to the Anchor instead for a good range of ales. Perhaps should drop the 'tap house' label as it unit one!

Absolutely wonderful pub. Tables and chairs around the bar but there is plenty of space there as well. Move away from the bar and there are a number of nooks and crannies to get comfortable in. The furniture is eclectic but comfortable and really does fit with the place. The pub used to brew their own beer but unfortunately had to stop. You will see a number of nice shiny beer vats around. Well, where to start. Let's begin with NO face coverings. Angus environmental health should be told about this place. It's a covid risk. Now that's the non food rant over. Let's get on with the service and food. On arrival apart from no masks everything seemed fine. Our order was taken. A cafe seven special breakfast, and a sausage and egg roll. 5mins elapsed, and another waiter asked if he could take our order, which was strange as of course we had ordered already. 20minutes passed before we got our tea for two. Then ten minutes later our order arrived. But it was completely wrong, I think is was someone else's. Then when our order arrived another 5mins later, that's when it got like a carry on film! Our food was placed on the table, and the waiter asked if there was anything else he could get us. Firstly I told him cutlery would be a start. Also where was the butter for the toast. He told me he was just away to get it all. He came back with butter portions, cutlery, and ketchup portions all in his right hand which he plonked on the table, no side plates either. And the ketchup was a cheap unbranded one. The food? Well my wife's sausage and egg roll was shocking, over cooked egg, with. The cheapest of sauaged ull of rusk and deep fried. And the bun was rock hard. I to had the cheap sausages, over cooked eggs and lukewarm beans.. We did highlight the rock hard bun, and received a discount. However to summarise, its in a great location and cheap, but that's the only positives for this carry on cafe! We won't be back

It saddens me to write this as I rarely write a bad review. The cafe looked clean and the door was wide open so plenty of fresh air. Once sitting we realised none of the staff were wearing face coverings, I realise they're awful to wear all day, but I manage it all day at work and I'm asthmatic. The woman who served us had a lanyard round her neck which had NHS written all over it, a bit of a slap in the face to real NHS staff dealing with Covid patients and the risks that entails. If she's not NHS staff she shouldn't be wearing this. We ordered a steak pie and fish and chips. Our drinks arrived and quite a while later we were told the fish was unavailable, considering this is a fishing town and the menu declares it's local fish I find it hard to believe they ran out at 12pm on a Thursday. I looked at the menu but had my heart set on fish do we decided to go elsewhere. I went to the counter and explained, I offered to pay for the drinks and was charged £3.20. Personally I'd of said to the customer there was no charge as they were ordered to have with a meal. I won't go back, but mainly due to the staff not wearing face coverings and not keeping their distance. I've seen people with Covid and I wouldn't wish it on anyone, I'll stick to places where the staff are trying hard to avoid it.

First time we have visited we thought we would try the curry, a real disappointment. It contained tiny diced bits of chicken, diced onions and pepper`s which in equal manner tasted really disgusting. I have never had or even seen a curry like this i think it was meant to be a Korma ?. We ate very little mostly the chips that were good, the rice was cold and watery, the after taste lasted for hours. To be fair think we just got the wrong meal as the breakfast and meal`s that came out to other tables looked nice, the big breakfast someone got was massive. Service was very good and very polite, the place look`s lovely and clean. We will go back for another try but deff not the curry as they have a good menu, maybe the breakfast next time

We visited a week ago. Service and food was fine. Staff did not follow Covid guidelines in that none of them were wearing masks when serving or anywhere else in the cafe. Scottish Government website states: "Hospitality staff must wear face coverings". When another table was cleared, it was wiped but menus were left sitting on the table and not cleaned. Customers were also walking in and out without putting on masks. The food we had was fine, but we were a bit disappointed about the lack of attention to following Government Covid 19 guidelines.

We went for a light lunch shortly before noon. The menu is extensive but not adventurous, with plenty of standard dishes and chips with everything. I ordered lentil soup and a brown bread sandwich with crisp bacon . I got chicken and rice soup and a sandwich with bacon which was not crisp on soft white bread. When I pointed out that I had asked for lentil soup, the waitress didn't seem to understand, and another member of staff was called. She said that they had run out of lentil soup (at noon) and only had chicken soup left. I ate the sandwich but didn't much enjoy it.

Popper in for a fryup while my child and wife had pancakes. The pancakes are excellent. Fluffy and large with a nice syrup to go with them. Unfortunately the fryup was disgusting. The sausages are cheap and had several gristly parts within that put me off eating the other one. The bacon I asked for extra crispy was slightly browned at best and my egg had a strange aftertaste. The tea was stew your own and was typical cafe tea. The waitress on our arrival was miserable and you didn't get a single smile. I complained about the sausage and they did not remove any discount. There was 3 adults and a 10 year old who had a toastie from the main menu. Between us we had a soup and sandwich deal, panini salad and chips, cafe 7 burger which had salad coleslaw and chips and the aforementioned toastie. We were all stuffed! I didn't get any pictures so you will just need to take my word for it. All in with two coffees (proper coffee too) and two soft drinks it was around £22. Good fresh food, although the menu isn't very varied if your looking for lunch It's in a lovely setting and there's a small play park for children. Dogs are allowed and well catered for. There's plenty parking but this is where I felt badly let down. There is no allocated disabled parking! There was a challenging walk on my crutches from the carpark to the cafe as the surface isn't very wheelchair friendly. With the space available in sure there is an easy remedy and I'm sure we'll come back for more of the good food and see if they resolve the parking for the disabled.
