Staff are always very friendly and welcoming. The lady even gave our dog some ham - which our dog devoured in 3 gulps! Excellent food. A massive selection of baguettes, sandwiches and salads. All very tasty. Very very good value for money there’s a lot of filling in the baguettes and the salad is big. Yummy selection of cakes and tray bakes including gluten free options. The chocolate brownie is to die for! Will definitely be back :) thank you!
Popped in on spur of the moment as had heard good things and rightly so.
Service was prompt and lasagne and burger were well presented, large portions and piping hot.
The down side to our whole experience was it was freezing in the restaurant/pub.
Didn't take jacket off and JT went to get his body warmer out of the car - so definitely wasn't just me!
Aa a result we decided not to have dessert.
Could not get any hot water from tap in ladies toilet.
Nice venue, staff were courteous and there is plenty of free parking. Just make sure you take a jumper!!!

10/10 no faults. Food - exceptional. Service - superb. Atmosphere - welcoming. Special mention to the ribeye steaks & the chicken parpadelle. YUM! We even had breakfast the next morning & this too was really delicious & fresh.
Been past here a million times and never been in. Used to live nearby and my mum still does so popped in for food. Very well decorated and very bright cafe. Used to be the Woodgrove pub and what a difference. Nice varied menu and lots of baking. Had nice brie, cranberry and bacon toastiest. Good mentions and a fantastic piece of carrot cake. Will definitely be back!
This is a fantastic wee restaurant, with delicious food, friendly people, and reasonable prices. I especially appreciate the large selection of delicious gluten free options. I will be back soon!
Once again had chance to get out to the Royal Bar for dinner with my wife.
Food as usual was first class. Had my favourite the Mac Cheese, my wife had the special.
Service and environment was just perfect.
Looking forward to next visit soon.
Keep up the great work.
Volveremos.
Lunch, excellent, soup and sandwich, wow, great tasting home made lentil and bacon soup, yum, tuna sandwich with crisps, my friend had baked potatoe with coronation chicken and side salad, various different items on the menu, nice tea room, nice people who own tea room and lovely young lady serving, give it a try, you’ll go back. I’m sure they could cater for a wheelchair user and have a disabled toilet as well. Very reasonably priced as well. Irene makes lovely apple pies, mmm to die for. Parking at back of tearoom or on street parking.
Turning left off the ferry from the mainland, Richan's retreat is the first house on the right, 100 yards up the road. Step inside to a genuinely warm welcome and a trip back into the island past. Run by a Westray lady married to a Mancunian exile, the cafe offer's excellent value basic fare - the soup was homemade and utterly delicious - accompanied by friendly conversation and a genuine insight into island life. The cafe also features handcrafts, all made on Westray itself. Not to be missed on any trip.
