Got the steak frites deal that (correct me if I’m wrong) runs Mon - Fri. £10 for lovely rare steak, dealers choice of course, some very crisp chips a splash of salad and insanely good but rich garlic butter. I supplemented it with the port & blue cheese sauce which was well worth the money (extra £3) as it was honking just how I like it. The peppercorn sauce and chimichurri was also excellently done.
They also offered Parmesan fries for 50p more or beef dripping fries for £1 more, which I didn’t get this time, but I know for certain I will when I go back.
Absolutely excellent server as well, full of energy and happy to have a blether with you. Decor is absolutely lovely making for a warm yet modern atmosphere.
Highly recommend for fine dining, but excellent for a cheap business lunch. Thanks!

Nice restaurant on the shopping street in Edinburgh. The selection of dishes is good and there is also a lot for vegetarians.
I had the crispy chicken veggie in curry sauce. The sauce was too over-seasoned for me personally, but the veggie chicken made up for it and was very tasty.
What an absolutely awful experience. We took our daughter here for a 40th birthday lunch based on previous recommendations by friends and acquaintances. The food was poorly cooked and we suspect was microwaved due to the way it was placed on the plates. One meal was different - a beef dish- the meat was not tender at all and appeared to be “bleeding” blood. The cutlery is well used and looks “battered” as if past it’s useability. We complained about the two meals that were pork (though we suspect these were not pork but chicken ??) based noodle dishes and they changed them to the beef dishes but this was poorly cooked as well and remained uneaten. The experience was quite ghastly and we paid over £65 for something we feel was no better than a takeaway box from Tesco or Asda worth £12-15. We certainly would not recommend this place. We won’t Thankyou for a dreadful experience.
Not the best food I've ever had and given my wife is Italian was unlike any Italian food I've had in 50 years. Food cold as was the restaurant with 2 out of the tasting menu having pass marks.
Waitresses terrific apart from one who practically whipped my wife's plate away when she hadn't actually finished.
Very disappointed, won't be back.
Family and I have been coming here for years and we have never had a bad experience. Always go for the a la carte menu. 3 tapas for £18 + a dessert which is £6 extra. I ordered the haddock with aioli, cheese & ham croquettes with aioli and the chorizo and black pudding (which is a personal favourite of mine). Food was tasty and exceptional. Even tried the steak which my brother ordered and it was delicious. Ordered the praline cheesecake for dessert which was heavenly. Staff were very welcoming also!
What an awesome venue - someone described as a "wee bit small" - hell yeah - that's the beauty of it - great sound, great gigs, great staff behind the bar - get in to the gig area early or risk being behind a 6ft nutter waving their arms about in a frenzy - but get to the front and whoa - you are shaking hands with the star of the evening - soooooo personal its freakish but like in a great way. We saw David McAlmont & Hifi Sean and frankly I now feel like I know them both - we were practically on stage. And here's the real crazy bit - the venue doesn't rip you off - we were £18 each to see a global megastar!!!! AWESOME.
During a short visit to Ayr I was looking for somewhere that would do some proper Scottish food. Trawling through Google I found the Chestnuts Hotel and wasn’t disappointed. We arrived without booking at around 6:30pm on a cold and windy early March evening. The place was buzzing and there were no tables available in the bar but we were taken to the restaurant. The service was friendly and attentive, and the food was great and very good value for money. I have been charged quite a bit more for similar quality in similar environments. Totally worth a visit; I wish I was spending longer here so I could return.
First time in The Bon Vivant for me and it was perfect. We went for lunch and the menu was enticing. Our son and daughter in law know the place well and pointed us to the small bites. It turned into a VERY long lunch as the small bites kept arriving and we hoovered them up accordingly, with a selection of beers and wines accompanying them. No way could anyone manage a main course after what we got through 😂
Thank you to our attentive waiter and waitress for a thoroughly enjoyable afternoon. Now I'm off to Google to find a fasting regime!
Had a 2 night stay in Auchtarder and went to kiss for lunch and dinner . Food was superb and the service outstanding. Every member of staff was so helpful and friendly. Can't recommend enough
