King Street Sandwich Bar & Deli in Dumfries & Galloway

Stopped here looking for lunch whilst on holiday. Two ladies extremely friendly and sandwiches were extremely good value and very tasty, even gave us some slices of chicken for our pup, highly recommend calling in, thank you.

Today I enquired about the 'smoked salmon special' and was advised it is served in a roll or baguette. I do not eat wheat so asked if I could have it in a box with salad. This was not a problem and the staff member explained what was included in the salad. I specifcally requested "no egg"- the lady noted this down in her notebook. I agreed to return within 10-15 minutes to collect the salad. On returning home I opened the salad box and was aghast to find a sliced boiled egg plonked in the middle of the salad! Yuk!How disgusting!! I specifically requested no egg, she took note, but proceeded to ignore my request and included an egg. Why do this? The food ended up in the bin. Unacceptable food service and unacceptable waste of money!

Visited today at a very busy time of the day but nothing was too much trouble. Quick, efficient and friendly service. The lady even brought out some water and treats for our dog while we sat outside. The food is excellent, all made fresh and excellent value for money. We always stop off here when we're visiting the area. Thank you again for looking after us so well.

We always visit this sandwich bar when in Castle Douglas. Sandwiches, whether bagettes, baps, ciabatta, are delicious and stuffed full of fresh fillings. Cakes, soup, hot and cold drinks and deli items also available and equally as tasty!

I like to try different eating places on my travels and I’m really glad I stopped here. I ordered a brown baguette with smoked ham & Swiss cheese. Awesome, just slightly crusty and so fresh it seemed it was recently out of the oven. The filling was to die for but fortunately I didn’t. I also asked for a black coffee and although I was told it was instant, I asked for it strong. The counter staff then offered me fresh coffee from a cafetière. All for under £5. This friendly little deli with only 4 inside seats and one outside table deserves to go from strength to strength. Thanks for a great snack meal and first class friendly service.

This sandwich and deli shop sells really nice sandwiches at reasonable prices. The staff are very friendly and helpful providing us with advice on where to visit nearby and enjoy eating our baguettes. Very nice and well worth visiting

Me and my partner stopped for lunch after a busy morning and we're not disappointed! The staff couldn't have been more friendly, decent prices and tasty baguettes!!

Visited a few times now and it's always my go to when needing some lunch... the New Yorker US definetly a favourite

Me and the husband had a baguette here for lunch one day whilst on our holidays, really delicious, fresh and made on the spot. Maybe a wee bit expensive, but for the amount of fresh ingredients you got, it beats our local Greggs in Newcastle hands down.

Enjoyed a smoked salmon and prawn, warm baguette for £3:70 ! Delicious and reasonably priced served by efficient friendly staff. Will definitely be back on my next visit to Scotland. Was so tempted by the chocolate covered cakes but thought they would melt before I got down to the Loch where I enjoyed my lunch in the sunshine.

Stopped off here for some fresh rolls and homemade cakes.Everything was freshly made and I was served by 2 lovely ladies who even put the slices of cake in a plastic container as we were travelling back to Manchester and stopping of on route to eat in the car.Next time we are in the area it will be our first port of call.Thank You.

Sandwiches, rolls etc were fabulous. However hygiene worried me as chap making the sandwiches had just handled money from previous customer and went straight on to making up our sandwiches. Could do with someone making up the sandwiches and someone else taking the money.

Tuna salad barm cakes are amazing!! Done just as you want as you watch. Friendly staff....clean and nice decor .. very quick service.... mostly takeaway. But has a couple of stools at window with long bar if you want to eat in.

No matter what you choose the sandwiches are exceptional and very very tasty. You can't go wrong eating here

This was a great find. We wanted to buy sandwiches to eat later and this place was perfect. There's a great choice of sandwiches that are made to order. Choose from a great selection of fillings all prepared while you wait with excellent service. There's also a superb selection of produce to buy and take home. Very worthwhile.

My wife and stop here to get lunch whenever we're in Castle Douglas. There isn't much space to eat but we always get sandwiches to take away and eat on a bench overlooking nearby Carlingwark Loch. There is a very wide variety of sandwich fillings (all delicious, plentiful and good value for money) and a variety of tasty breads. My own particular favourite is a New Yorker on a white baguette, but whatever you choose you're most unlikely to be disappointed.The staff are warm, friendly and helpful.What's not to like?

fantastic deli, with a great selection of local produce. the sandwiches are great. the meaty mexican (this is a filled roll, not a staff member) is highly recommended!

I eat lunch from the Deli every day. The food is always fresh and you always get a really interesting banter with the staff. In the winter months, they always make really good soup.

This little deli has very little inside or outside seating (3 bar stools at a bar and one outside table for two). Most people get sandwiches for takeout. We stopped for a sandwich and the very friendly and entertaining owner made us a vegetarian sandwich to order, which was on a very nice fresh baguette and was one of the best sandwiches we have ever had. It was delicious, and almost more than we could finish. We sat at the outside table, which just happened to be free, but don't count on seating. This is a great place to pick up sandwiches for a picnic or to take home. The price was phenomenally low--$3.20 for the sandwich. But be prepared, they only take cash, no credit cards. I would recommend for a great takeout sandwich.
