We were a small family group out to celebrate a Birthday. This is an African / English restaurant that specialises in African dishes. This being because the owner / chef is English but with African connections and having spent some considerable time there. We all selected an African dish, the food is amazing and each dish was themed to a particular African Country and is all cooked with fresh ingredients on the premises. The staff are all very efficient, pleasant and friendly which made it great night out. I think this was their 1st opening night since the virus lock down and they ask for advance bookings only which is very sensible at present. It is quite ironic that this restaurant is next door to 99 Station Street, an award winning English Restaurant, I expect that Inspirations will soon follow !
We often visit the Salty Seahorse when walking along the Seafront. It's quite a quirky place for coffee having its tables on the seafront & on the beach. If you have your recycled cup they knock 20p off. Not open at the moment but will be in the summer.
This deli is incredible. Not only does it stock the most amazing ingredients from pasta, cheeses, meats and sauces, you can get the most amazing panini's and homemade desserts.
The staff are all incredible and extremely friendly.

Sadly after 15 months The Green Life 🍃 is now officially closed. I've finally made the decision to move back to Sweden after 15 years in London 💚 There are many reasons to my decision cause it sure wasn't easy to let go of "my baby". 😌
I will continue on my path doing what I love in a country I love so much 🇸🇪 with all my supportive family and friends by my side.
You can continue to follow "my journey" via @mehrnazhashemi 💚
I want to thank everyone who's been supportive of TGL so THANK YOU 💚 I wish you all a happy, healthy & productive year ahead. Be confident in everything you do and have no fear. Inspire others ✨ Life is a short journey. Make the most of it 💫 Follow your dreams. They know the way.
Friendly and welcoming staff from the outset. There were 7 of us in total and we all chose our own toppings for our handmade bars. There were also lots of chocolatey nibbles to eat as we crafted. We learnt how to make filled chocolates with decorative transfers and rolled truffles too! Everything was explained and demonstrated clearly and we enjoyed delicious hot drinks too. I would highly recommend this experience.
My brother has tried just about every Indian restaurant in the North East of England, and I have been with him to a number of what he considers to be amongst the best - which means they have to be good value too. For comparison, we also like Red Hot in Darlington, Ashoka in Seaham and any of the Mumbai chain (Haswell, Hartlepool etc). We go to Tashan for the FOOD. How lovely to be able to have an Indian meal without feeling guilty - the curries are healthy, not laden with fat, and none of the starters are greasy. I love the authentic street food options such as sweet potato chaat, and there are a number of more unusual "home style" dishes - including Indian desserts. Depending on how hungry you are and what you fancy you can have a very filling four course set meal (good value "early bird" available), just a main course, or you can mix and match starters, street food, even fast food (an Indian veggie style burger in a bun with masala chips is a very tasty alternative to a McDonald's!) The Indian breads are light and crisp. Tashan also serve the best mango lassi I have had anywhere - really smooth and fruity, served by the glass or in a big jug. Don't judge this restaurant by the location - the food is of a very high standard and nicely presented, the service is friendly and attentive and the atmosphere very relaxed (you don't need to dress up!). Currently my favourite Indian restaurant! Tashan deserve 5 stars for service, food and value (TripAdvisor button not working to give this rating).

Have brought my children here 3 times now for waffles. They love them!
Freshly prepared as you order, lots of delicious topping combinations and they taste heavenly.
The pricing is clear and the lady behind the counter is very friendly and takes time to listen and answer any questions.
Has become a firm favourite of ours.
Lovely place to visit for a quick cuppa and a piece of cake. The owner Julie is nice and friendly and will do all she can to make your visit a good one.Little kiddies play areas at the back is really good too as my little ones always love to play with the toys after their cake.Especially like the tomato soup :)
This special Tapas event is only available on certain weekends as the restaurant is currently awaiting resale, so it is necessary to check when the next event is scheduled. The food is wonderful and very reasonably priced, with normally up to nine individual dishes for sharing between two people ( or a whole one each if you feel really hungry. There is also a good selection of local craft beers and traditional cocktails etc . The sweets are a real treat, so go on and spoil yourself. A really great night out and a wonderful atmosphere and the staff are wonderful and friendly. We look forward to the next evening as soon as possible.
Fabulous food very tasty and good value for money ...would highly recommend the Sunday roasts absolutely delicious and saves me cooking ...staff very friendly and welcoming ... can’t wait to go back again !!!!!
See you soon!!!
One of the finest small pubs anyone could wish for. The beer is outstanding and kept perfectly. This is an absolute must for people who love a traditional pub with great conversation and superb beer. In the top division of the UK's pubs.
