The best restaurants in England

We’ve visited the Bar and Grill many times and as a result have high expectations! I’ll begin with the negative. Tuesday evening, 6.30pm booking. No steaks available. I appreciate that you rely on suppliers but this was a disappointment. No matter, we ordered the pie of the day and a burger with gnocchi staters. The food was outstanding, as we have come to expect. Great presentation, well cooked and very good service. This restaurant has become our “go to” choice in Brackley and despite the absence of the steaks it lived up to expectations. Thank you and we look forward to the next visit!

Best breakfast in Brixham…started with a splendid fresh orange juice….and followed by excellent coffee… it was a beautiful breakfast… with toast and a selection of jams , marmalade, peanut butter and marmite … Lovely friendly staff..a warm welcome as always.. Thanks ladies

This was our first visit to Serving Thyme and we’ll certainly return to the café. Next time we’ll include a visit the shop and garden sales area, which looked very tempting. The food was tasty and the staff were welcoming. Tables were cleared quickly and there was even someone hovering near the door to open it for customers. The man tending the plants was knowledgable and took great pride in his work. This meant the reasonably priced winter bedding plants were in great condition. Serving Thyme is an unusual concept which definitely seems to work. Worth a visit and even a detour.

One of many eating places in the city, we chose this for location and the menu on offer. We had a very delicious meal, in a well laid out restaurant. There was plenty of room between tables and a very relaxed atmosphere with an appropriate level of lovely background music. Our waiter was excellent, very engaging and made us feel welcome from the start. In fact, this was true of all the staff. The food was perfect, presented nicely and tasted delicious. Would definitely visit again the next time we are in York and would recommend it to anyone who appreciates quality Italian food.

Attending an 18th birthday celebration - table of 11. Staff put up some decorations and we brought balloons and a cake. Fantastic waiters, who calmly dealt with a very noisy bunch !! Food was top notch ! Our 2 x Italian waiters were very gracious and charming. Our drinks waitress had an eagle eye for spotting empty glasses, quickly clearing them and checking if more drinks were needed. Without prompting, our waiters brought out the cake , and joined us in singing" Happy Birthday ". The atmosphere , food, service and value were ALL SUPERB. We will definitely be return customers. Staff are really friendly and knowledgeable. The food is awesome 👌 good value and portion sizes and options for people with dietary requirements. Frequently had lunches and dinners here. Amazing board game collection with help on hand to understand the rules. Really clean. Great date night with a cheeky glass of wine, day out with kids from as young as 3 or place to make friends it's really for everything.

Amazing ice cream! A big bonus for us was that it was suitable for our nut-allergic son, who almost never gets this sort of ice cream treat. The lady was very knowledgeable about her ingredients as it’s homemade, and made sure she got a fresh scoop for him too. He declared it the best ice cream ever! The coffee was also delicious, piping hot & served in beautiful eco-friendly cups with different designs. Highly recommend and not just for the summer, the hot chocolate looked amazing too and there was a lovely selection of gifts in the shop.

We spotted this on a little drive & just pulled in, no idea what the menu was going to read and we was pleasantly surprised to have found a new curry place! Have to say from the minute we walked in it was like “wow” the place just looks amazing and such a cute little spot for it! The food is absolutely amazing! We ordered the chicken tikka masala Chicken bhuna, boiled rice, chips and garlic nann (never had a garlic nann so amazing) we was blown away! Amazing flavours all food came really hot and so quick! Much cheaper than we anticipated too and for the quality we are already planning our next trip!

F&B is a hidden gem which never fails to deliver. Their sandwiches are epic, the cakes impossible to resist and the staff super friendly!

We stayed whilst visiting daughter who is at harper Adam’s university. Excellent value for money- £63 for one night. You stay in an annexe behind the pub. Room was cosy, warm, what was expected for the price. The bed was comfy, standard double so if you’re very tall might struggle. En suite bathroom was small but adequate; dated but perfectly fine for one night stay. The main light and fan in the bathroom weren’t working but for one night it was fine. Shower was hot and excellent. Tv in room, tea and coffee making facilities. Room was warm with a radiator. There was noise from the beer garden until approx 1am but we expected this when booking an annexe at a pub. All in all it was perfect for a one night stay, central to Newport, near pubs, bars and coffee shops.

Amazing breakfast, ordered two full English breakfasts and one without eggs, very clearly cocked to order and tasted absolutely amazing. Well worth travelling for.

We called in for some take away food. Had the homity pie (cold but delicious) and sausage roll (hot but delicious I was told) plus a really nice mixed salad (you can choose from a mix and match selection). Enjoyed them on the harbour wall on a lovely sunny day.

Although not a restaurant, the food is of restaurant quality, I think. Little seating next to the van, but a nice little spot to eat mid-shop. Pizza was delicious and not badly priced either. Would definitely reccommend. Not sure if they do drinks? I didn't see a list for any so if they don't already, would reccommend drinks being available.

We have only just moved to the area. Our first take away and it was fantastic. Arrived exactly on time, the food was absolutely delicious. I ordered far too much...but that just meant lunch for the next day! Definitely going to go there/take out again!
