We stayed as attending a Wedding at Danby Castle. Staff couldn’t have been more helpful, rooms were clean and comfortable. We had a Double with en-suite including full bath. Other family had a twin with full ensuite bathroom. We had an evening meal and breakfast which was excellent value and so huge we couldn’t eat it all. Staff helped us get return lift to venue. Ubers don’t cover the area and taxis are extortionate prices. Would recommend if looking for really value in a lovely location

We could not rate this idyllic tea room enough. Perfect location, fast and friendly service and amazing food, nothing was too much trouble, very happy attentive staff, we will certainly be back again soon. Delicious food and very reasonable prices. We also visited the shop attached which had a great variety of goods too đź‘Ť

Great cakes and bread to eat in or take away. Dogs are allowed inside. We had a good lunch. It was very busy, because the food is very good.

Although short staffed, and operating a limited menu, we had great service and food and highly recommend.

We happened upon this lovely pub, as we walked nearby. What a lovely spot, fantastic log fires roaring away . Very nice welcome. Big varied menu to choose from, lots of specials to tempt you . We were only having sandwiches, they were perfect and came out super quick. We had some chips to share….and they were proper ones, the real deal….and there were none left, when we’d only have just picked otherwise. Nicely busy, with lots of strangers made to feel at ease and welcome. All the other bigger dishes, we saw come out, looked amazing Def will return

A pub that looks big from the outside but which is cosy and small inside with two small bars and a selection of regulars having a quiet drink. This is a proper pub offering a menu which is above the basics that you’d expect and with friendly staff. The weather had suddenly turned from late summer to autumn and so the steak and ale pie and chicken and leek pie were the chosen main courses and really very good too. In fact I’d suggest that they were some of the best pies I’ve had when it comes to being full of meat and not having soggy pastry, full pies too, not this casserole with a puff pastry top malarkey. Definitely worth stopping in here for a hearty meal and good ales from Daleside and Rudgate brewery were most welcome accompaniments.

This is a smart pub in a superb location. The beer garden, free range chickens and riverside setting make it a perfect stopping place on the many walks in the area. However, we felt the owners could capitalise on this so much more with a better food service. There were only toasties or sandwiches available (on a sunny August Saturday lunchtime) and the cask ales were not available. A pub that "welcomes walkers, cyclists and dogs" really needs to offer more. I'm not talking about gourmet food; merely a few hot food choices from a pub grub range. The toasties were good and accompanied by quality crisps and coleslaw. I'd really love to see this pub thriving like some of its nearby competitors but it was pretty deserted. I hope this feedback will be construed as constructive.

The food is ok - coffee was good but all quite pricy. The worst thing however was the manager of this establishment decided to use the public cafe area as his personal office space and was talking loudly while on a laptop 'Zoom' call for the whole time we were in there. Forgive me but I really don't want to know about your staffs shift-rotas and logistical supply issues. Go out the back and don't bother your (over) paying customers.
