The best restaurants in Hawes and High Abbotside Richmondshire Yorkshire and The Humber

Nos gustaría agradecer a Rohit, Anjana y el personal del restaurante Azafrán por hacernos sentir tan bienvenidos el viernes por la noche. El ambiente era perfecto y tuvimos una mesa tranquila encantadora en el cálido y cómodo restaurante de la sala de jardín. Todos disfrutamos mucho de la comida y el servicio fue excelente, esperando volver a visitarlo.

Great choice for a family meal as part of a Dales mini-break. Superb welcome from Paul, fabulous food prepared by pam - all in a wonderfully designed restaurant. If you are staying in or near Hawes, this is a definitely a restaurant to experience...

If you are visiting the bijou village of Hawes, and you find you have 'not a lot to do' walk up the hill to where the Wensleydale Creamery (surely 'Cheesery' !) With an excellent shop, selling all sorts of cheese-centric goods, a cheese shop (surprise !!) and a café alongside the factory where they make, well, All the "Authentic"Wensleydale Cheese in the world, and other cheeses too)watch an exhibition of cheese making & the history of this remarkable product(and there's quite a lot of Cartoon stuff made famous by a plastercine dog & his pals) Very interesting, as long as you don't wear 'The Wrong Trousers" !!

We arrived at the chippy at 1350. Was along queue even outside. Waited 10 minutes outside. Then made it in to the shop. Waited another 10 minutes inside. Only 2 of us and only wonted chips to be honest. The guy behind the counter then said to the lady in front of are you on your own… she said no with the family in front. The guy then turned round to us and said sorry no food left and asked us to leave and put the close sign on the door!!! . To say I was disgusted was an understatement. If it was not for the kids in front I would have used some expletives. So waited 20 minutes for nothing will never use them again! I have never ever had a food shop do that before shocking!!!!!!

We never visit Hawes without having a couple of meals in the Wensleydale Pantry. Food is great, wholesome, good portions and thr vegetables are well cooked, it's far better than the typical pub offerings. It's well used by locals, which is usually a good sign. The other plus, is that dogs aren't allowed, unlike most places these days. Whilst we both like dogs, we don't believe that they should be where food is being served.

Personal amable, visitado con nuestro perro, agua proporcionada para él sin ser preguntado. Café de sabor encantador, servicio fantástico. Lugar muy limpio

We came here to have the cheesy afternoon tea which was lovely. The savoury course was excellent and I particularly enjoyed the Mac and cheese. The dessert course was less good, we weren't keen on the cheese cake and not a huge fan of fruit cake.

Amazing service with beautiful food , local produce used, owner’s knowledge of his produce fantastic. Will come again definitely

We stayed at the B&B. Perfect stop before resuming our much (covid) delayed Pennine way walk. Friendly, welcoming host, comfortable room with great views, great breakfast, will stay again if we're back in Hawes.

Mi compañero y yo nos topamos con este café un frío lunes por la mañana y nos dejó boquiabiertos. Nuestros desayunos veganos estaban allí con lo mejor que hemos tenido. Porciones grandes y cocinadas a la perfección. Nuestros cafés eran excelentes, así como nuestras delicias dulces. Había un montón de veganos para elegir. El servicio fue cálido y amable. No podíamos fallar nada. Sin duda volveremos cuando estemos en la zona de nuevo.

After reading great reviews I called in here on Monday March 27 2023 looking for lunch. Very pleasant and polite member of staff informed me that the restaurant is no longer open to serve daytime meals since they shut at the the end of last season

A real hidden gem, and without doubt the best place to eat in Hawes! Really friendly and helpful service from the young guy behind the counter. Fast service with good food.
