If you are visiting the bijou village of Hawes, and you find you have 'not a lot to do' walk up the hill to where the Wensleydale Creamery (surely 'Cheesery' !) With an excellent shop, selling all sorts of cheese-centric goods, a cheese shop (surprise !!) and a café alongside the factory where they make, well, All the "Authentic"Wensleydale Cheese in the world, and other cheeses too)watch an exhibition of cheese making & the history of this remarkable product(and there's quite a lot of Cartoon stuff made famous by a plastercine dog & his pals) Very interesting, as long as you don't wear 'The Wrong Trousers" !!

A Delightfully Cheesy Afternoon at Wensleydale Creamery! We recently visited Wensleydale Creamery for their Wensleydale Cheesy Afternoon Tea for Two, and what a fantastic experience it was! From the moment we arrived, the staff treated us exceptionally well—friendly, attentive, and genuinely welcoming, making our visit all the more enjoyable. The food was, unsurprisingly, a cheese lover’s dream! The Wensleydale Creamery Three Cheese Quiche was the absolute highlight—light, flavourful, and with a wonderfully thin pastry crust that melted in the mouth. The Ultimate Wensleydale Creamery Rarebit was another winner, rich and indulgent, complemented perfectly by the Chilli Chutney, which was absolutely incredible—we only wished there had been more of it! The Wensleydale Mac n Cheese, while decent, didn’t quite wow us as much as the other dishes, but the Chips were cooked to absolute perfection—crispy on the outside, fluffy on the inside, and a perfect side to the cheesy delights. We rounded off the meal with the Yorkshire Wensleydale & Ginger Cheese Cheesecake, a beautifully rich and unique dessert that we thoroughly enjoyed. Overall, this was a fantastic experience, perfect for any cheese enthusiast. The quality of the food, the warm atmosphere, and the exceptional service make Wensleydale Creamery a must-visit. We’ll definitely be back for more!

More cheese did I hear you say 😍😍 Absolutely blown away by my wonderful surprise trip to Wensleydale organised by my amazing girlfriend. So A I love Wallace and Gromit And B I Luuuurve cheeeese 🧀 An absolutely brilliant afternoon The cheesey afternoon tea is cheesetastic but the staff at this place are so so lovely, kind , caring and eager to help you enjoy your day. We couldn't finish it off in one go so toddled off to the demo for a quick break The cheese making demonstration was superb, full of humour , facts and of of course the practicalities of turning 8 pints of milk into one Wensleydale cheese. Not the original, you have to try the Kit Calvert version for that! ( see i was listening ) Then back for cheesecake and fruitcake topped with of course a lovely slab of 🧀 A massive 5 stars from us Fantastic day out Congratulations to all the staff and good luck to the restaurant manager for her knee op tomorrow Jan 20 at 1230 💗 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

We visited Wensleydale Creamery Visitor Centre and ended up learning more about cheese than we ever expected. Our guide Martin was a true cheese enthusiast and made the whole process really interesting. The setup with cameras was great—you get a clear view of everything. The cheese tasting was fantastic—we tried everything they make. The restaurant, though, didn’t quite hit the mark. The food was a bit dry and not as exciting as we hoped. But the staff were super friendly, which made up for it. The views are stunning, and the atmosphere alone is worth the visit.

This is a superb and sensational attraction in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales National Park and the town of Hawes. The visitors detail the story of Wensleydale Cheese and how started by the Monk during the Medieval Period and the cheese making process behind the famous cheese and details it in a very interactive, engaging, informative and enthralling way. There are two parts to the place with visitors going to the coffee shop, cheese shop and gift shop where you see a wonderful range of Wallace & Gromit Merchandise, Wensleydale Creamery Merchandise and other gifts and in the Cheese shop you can see a weird and wonderful range of cheese and such as Wensleydale and Blueberries and Wensleydale and Cranberries and you can enjoy a free sample of these which have a lovely light and creamy taste and texture. The other part of this place is the Cheese Experience which costs a more than reasonable £5.95 for Adults which is thoroughly enjoyable, engaging, interesting and informative where you learn more fascinating information about the history of Cheese Making in Wensleydale and how it was introduced by the Monks who came from France and how it has been through to the modern day. During the Cheese Experience you can also watch a Cheese making demonstration conducted which is excellent where they explain the processes of Cheese Making from Milk through to the final product of Cheese. After the Cheese making demonstration has finished you can wander into the second half of the Cheese Experience you can wander into the Viewing Gallery where you see the Cheese Making process first hand on the production floors and factory. In the Viewing Gallery you can see a great homage to Wallace & Gromit with knitted figures of Wallace, Gromit, Wendoline, Preston, Feathers Mcgraw, Wrong Trousers and Shaun the Sheep and also a further great display of Wallace and Gromit, Feathers Mcgraw and the Rocket from a Grand Day out and also a lovely display about Wallace & Gromits links to Wensleydale Cheese. In the Viewing Gallery there is an opportunity of tasting the cheeses that are made at the Creamery which are absolutely delicious. There is also informative small museum detailing the history of Cheese Making in Wensleydale and the Cheese Making process and you can see some interesting artefacts involved in the process, which are in great condition. The gifts shop has a delightful range of gifts at very reasonable prices and the cafe sells a range of delicious food and drink at reasonable prices. Overall this is a throughly marvellous and enjoyable which makes for an amazing and very memorable lovely day out. Well worth a visit in the Yorkshire Dales and Hawes.

Lovely day out. Interesting lots to see and learn about cheese making. Plenty of reference to Wallace and gromit and areas for children to discover. The cafe, restaurant and gift shop were all well kept, clean and inviting. Bathrooms available again all nice and clean. I bought the fruit cake and ginger version of the Wensleydale as it tasted the best to me, even if it sounds strange. Entrance was really cheap as my children were free. Quite far out to drive to, but the countryside scenery was beautiful so it didn’t matter.

No need to rush either there is plenty on offer, they wont run out! There is a wonderful restaurant and again, we couldn't fault it. Quality food and really helpful staff.... easy on the pocket too. Regards the cream team. Not happy. The scone was very nice. Jam nothing special the local supermarket wouldn't sell. Now the cream. That's the 1st time I've had cream tea with squirty cream. Isn't it meant to be clotted cream. This was pure white and foamy, ypical out of a can. This was no doubt my worst cream tea I've ever had and considering we were at the creamery I was shocked. We then went and tried some of the cheeses and ended up buying four different cheeses. This place is amazing and will definitely go back to look at the factory. Returned to one of our favourite places that we have been to many times over the last fifty years. The cheeses are amongst the best available anywhere BUT our visit was spoilt by dreadfully poor quality ice cream. We had four different flavours so it was not just one that was disappointing. The flavours of all of them were weak and at £4.00 per cone I expected better. I could not believe just how poor they were. We have had much better supermarket ice cream. This is a wonderful place and my advice is to stop selling ice cream if what we had was the best you can offer.

In short, a great place to visit and I would say a must for anyone visiting the area. You won’t be disappointed. When we go to Hawes we always go to the Wensleydale Creamery. Once again we weren't disappointed as we bought a piece of Wensleydale in the shop followed by coffee and cake/ cheese in the café. All was wonderful.

Great place, experience was interesting and very reasonably priced. Cafe is really nice. Bring plenty of money because you’ll want to buy everything in the shop.

We came with our 5 year old daughter in half term. It was a Sunday so unfortunately there was no cheese making in the factory. We didn't see the demonstration either. We loved the cheese shop and the gift shop. The staff were very friendly too. Calvert's restaurant is well worth a visit too.

This is for Restaurant only: No dogs allowed inside, fair enough, lovely outside seating area around the back, Menus displayed on the Restaurant windows to be viewed from the outside seating area, Unfortunately they don't serve food outside. Why??? We would have to make do with a sandwich from Cafe?? Not clearly notified.. Sorry but we didn't bother..

A very quiet pub when we went in, real ales were great and kept well. I did find out this pub is up for sale so maybe that is why the atmosphere was a bit lacklustre.

Stopped here en route to Northumberland. What a quaint, picturesque town! We called in for a pot of tea and scones and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. There was a real homely feel to the place and the staff were super friendly. Everything was so reasonably priced too! When we next go on holiday we’ll call again if in the area. Highly recommended.
