Really enjoyed this pub when we stopped for a beer, so much so we went back the next day. Visiting from London this is what I would consider a good old Yorkshire pub. Lovely hospitality, lots of drink choices and felt covid secure. Nice to sit outside also and watch the world go by
Absolutely disgusting customer service, I've never been spoken to like the owner did to me when I merely asked where the other item was in my order. Called me a liar...he's checked the cameras etc etc! To have my integrity questioned and then go on a rant about everything and everything was really quite disgusting. I have used Chicos for years...but never again!
Since the online orders, it feels like in the instore customers aren't a priority.
Wait times have increased significantly. The ordering machines are always unable to give you a receipt. If you order online it's always missing something.
Shambles.
Over an hour before closing time, to be told we wasn’t allowed one mug due to there being too much washing up to be done. Very unapologetic and just plain rude. Upstairs was filthy, old cups everywhere and no clean tables. Very disappointing visit.
We popped in for dinner at about half-five (my wife and I, and our six year old). It was fairly busy, but not unusual for a Saturday night. Although the food we had was passable (my fish and chips was OK; the salmon my wife ordered was minuscule, especially for £18; the kids burger was as dry as sawdust), the service was absolutely appalling. My son and I arrived earlier than my wife, and I decided we’d go in and I could have a beer and him a squash. We stood at the bar. When my wife arrived 35 minutes later, we had only just ordered a drink. The bar staff spent probably 60% of their time fist-pumping and high-giving each other, preening in the mirrors and chatting. When they did serve someone, it was consistently the person standing right beside the till, regardless of who had been waiting longest. An absolute disgrace. Several parties of people came in, stood around and then left without ordering anything - it was THAT show. We would have left too, had we not arranged to meet my wife there. The food service was equally slow - 40 minutes to make three fairly standard dishes. All in all, a lot of waiting around and a big bill for what was a pretty disappointing experience. Knowing that parents don’t get many chances to go out for a meal, either with or without the kids, my genuine advice would be go somewhere - anywhere - else. Thees a Nando’s about 100m away. At least there you can get your own drink!!!
