Really enjoyed this pub when we stopped for a beer, so much so we went back the next day. Visiting from London this is what I would consider a good old Yorkshire pub. Lovely hospitality, lots of drink choices and felt covid secure. Nice to sit outside also and watch the world go by

Good place to stop, have a drink and take a breather from sightseeing. Very nice/friendly staff. Had good sanitized /Covid compliant practices in place - without being too over-bearing.

We like to consider this pub as one of our "locals". The beer is always good and the landlords are friendly and amenable. Great place to watch the world go by.

This place has a lovely, comfortable interior, with a warm coal fire and plenty of comfy seats. We did not eat here, but enjoyed some lovely Yorkshire beer. We were very impressed with the portion sizes being transported to other tables, and will definitely make a point of eating the next time we visit.

I have read all the reviews and agree with many of the positive comments that have been posted. Yes, staff are friendly and welcoming. Yes, it's a nice location and pleasant surroundings (though frankly I would get rid of the television). My reason for awarding only 3 stars is that I thought the food was ridiculously overpriced. My wife and I both had steak and ale "pie." It was one of those that came in a dish with a detachable rather unpleasant puff pastry lid. The meat was tender and gravy was tasty. The chips were not great and tasted as if the cooking oil was past its best. Two portions of this, a cup of tea and a pint of bitter came to nearly £31 which I thought was a good £5 over the odds.

My wife and I recently returned from a New Year break in Harrogate. Although regular visitors this is the first time we visited the Montpellier Cafe Bar. I have to say that this is a fantastic find for us. The very friendly atmosphere, great staff and even better quality food and service made our break. I can honestly say that we have never felt to be made more welcome and enjoyed the food so much. The Landlady, Landlord and all staff are first class. If you visit Harrogate you must go in to this Cafe Bar. From Bettys Tearoom go down the Hill that overlooks the Park. The Montpellier is near to the bottom of the Hill just past the "Slug & Lettuce". They have a great selection of Real Ales and a very wide ranging Menu.

Close to the Main Street but overlooking a grassed area this cafe serves a nice selection of snacks and hot food at reasonable prices.

This was my second visit to the Montpellier and it was every bit as pleasant as the first. The landlady and landlord are very welcoming and friendly and nothing seems to be too much trouble. The pub is busy and nicely set out with lots of interesting and funny plaques to read. We shared the monty platter (which was every bit as lovely as my first visit ) and this impressive meal served on a large tray looks like its going to become a tradition each time we visit harrogate, its yummy !! All this washed down with a lovely prosecco - dont mind if I do !!! This was a brill start to a fantastic weekend !!!!

We popped in for a quick pint before the easter break and all we could smell was stale urine coming from the mens toilets. it was very off putting. Also on visiting the lady's conveniences the stench was quite evident in there at as well...Attention to drains required me thinks!

Despite advertising an opening time of 22:00 they where closed by 21:30!! Not worth even bothering with!

Unfortunately the Railway Inn is still closed with apparently no date for reopening. The Railway Inn is owned by Samuel Smith's brewery and no further information is available.

Handy for a cuppa after work or during a shop. The cafe is situated in the simply food store and it’s clients are generally local. Good service and bright and airy cafe. Huge windows mean it gets very hot in sunny weather. No outside seating.

Stopped here as it allowed overnights with Motorhomes if you buy food. The car park was almost full but I managed to squeeze my van onto a space. The staff were very friendly, the food was good, my rib eye steak was tough and dry (medium rare looked good but still tough) thankfully I had beef dripping as a sauce which was delicious, especially when the chips soaked it up. but everything else was really nice. The final bill £152 for 3x3 courses and drinks (3 ales, 2 wines 3 cokes) which I felt was on the slightly high side. I would happily return in the future.
