Lovely location and enjoyed the outdoor seating area. Ordered a burger and had to take my ticket number to an outdoor shack. Other family members had their food from the regular kitchen. Would prefer the staff to sort out the pizza ticket as I had to wait for the food longer than anticipated. Dog friendly and would visit again when in the area.

I visited here whilst I was visiting Knaresborough. I was sceptical about going after reading the reviews, but actually, it’s really nice and I couldn’t fault it. The location is wonderful. It just about over looks the river, albeit on the very corner! But still a very prominent location. The staff were friendly. Granted, there were a few younger looking members of staff who appeared quite shy, but it’s probably their very first job and they are learning so give them a break. I certainly didn’t experience any rudeness as per the other reviews. The food was lovely. 24 quid for 2 meals and two drinks. Given the high prices in the area, I thought this was great pricing. The food arrived quickly and was very nice. The place was clean and tidy and the same can also be said for the toilets. And bear in mind that this was a visit in school holidays and it was very busy! I honestly can’t fault the place!

I had already commented to my partner that the bar staff didn't actually look at me when I ordered, even though he seemed to be a senior member of staff, but I just assumed they were busy. My sandwich then arrived on white rather than brown bread, as requested. I informed the waitress who apologised and took it away. She then brought it back and told me that my order had said white bread and that they wouldn't change it. I took the food down to the bar and explained to the senior member of staff about the confusion. He asked another staff member to change it who said the order had said white bread, stood her ground and looked away. This was said right in front of me and other customers. There was a complete lack of interest in customer service or finding out what had happened. I eventually received my correct order but we won't be going back.

NY Smokehouse provided 4 of the best ever burgers I have ever tasted. A young team but so friendly, passionate and I think Elesia who was cooking the burgers simply amazing. Will definitely be back for those burgers. Well done team 👍

Popped in for a couple of beers and some lunch, awful. Came when it first changed hands and it was terrible then, thought we’d give it another go, even worse. The food was terrible, 2 steak pies, one didn’t contain any meat, a hunters chicken which was appalling, it must’ve been sat on mars for the afternoon, it was dry, tasted gopping. The chips were soggy and appeared to have been cooked in filthy oil. One of my friends ordered a pizza, this arrived after the rest of us had finished and ready to leave. The service was shocking. Arrogant, cocky and rude bar staff. I’m into music, new and alternative but I have never heard anything like the drivel that they had playing, so bad. not great at anytime but especially on a Friday afternoon in knaresborough. The place is dirty, really grubby. The only thing that this place has to offer is the location outside. A shame. Could be amazing.

I was simply amazed by the mediocre food here and the very rude and rude staff. I had to wait for more than an hour for a pizza and hamburger. It was amazing! After waiting for an hour, I couldn't help but push for an order, and the male clerk looked fiercely at the customer as if he was about to fight. It's really...😅What an amazing work attitude👍🏻Please continue to have such a work attitude. Business is booming 😉

Long waiting time for food, but they don’t really taste good. Most importantly, horrible attitude of the staff. So rude. Even the staff don’t know the table number. So ridiculous

Visited this pub as staying in village and going to Yorkshire Show nice atmosphere and service and staff lovely returned the second night decided to have food had to pay for food before it was served . It was truly terrible unfit to eat the chips were black they had been burned and the sausages uneatable they fish was disgusting and undercooked and my husbands egg mango was like something I never saw before must say most of the food was left untouched don't bother ordering food though bar and staff lovely

Conveniently located near the main car park in Knaresborough, it's not my aesthetic in all honestly, it's a very old pub with that strong beer smell, it was just the nearest place that did food but they knew how to make a fish finger sandwich and staff are brilliant very attentive and professional

Called in today for the first time and last time. It was around 14:00 two members of the bar staff very rude, arrogant and extremely abrupt. Guy in his 30s and a blonde woman wearing a white top. Avoid unless you like being spoken too like dirt

Loved the food here! If anyone's visiting Knaresborough this is a very safe and good option! The atmosphere is very lovely and the pizza and burgers are made fresh on the spot.

The establishment is situated in a picturesque location, offering outdoor seating for people to enjoy during favorable weather conditions. However, it experiences significant foot traffic during weekends and public holidays, particularly when the weather is pleasant. The establishment is characterized by its welcoming ambiance, courteous staff, and delectable culinary offerings. I was particularly impressed by the expeditious delivery of food despite the establishment's high occupancy. The only challenge lies in securing a table during peak periods, especially during the summer season. Nevertheless, we managed to obtain a table within a reasonable timeframe of ten minutes. Additionally, the establishment is pet-friendly, which is a commendable feature.

The pizza and burgers take 2 hours to arrive, and the tables are not always clean. Despite having 99 people working here, it's still confusing who is responsible for what and how to get your order.

The service was fine. Nice range of drinks. The open mic was pleasant to listen to as we had a quiet drink. The location of the pub is obviously very good; being on Knaresborough waterside

After a walk down the river and a browse round Knaresborough Worlds End was the ideal place to recharge batteries and being dog friendly was ideal for us. We were warmly welcomed on arrival by the bar maid . Food and drink ( and treat for dog) were easy to order and baguettes arrived in good time. Both were well prepared , were of good portion size,( enough for my partner to take home a doggie bag) and very tasty.

Our first visit to this wonderful pub . Called in on the off chance to have lunch and was more than welcome Orderd 4 meals which was very quickly served and the food was excellent and all home cooked. Proper home made chips . Very reasonable priced . Lovely beer garden to sit in and enjoy the views of the river. Recommend a visit .I

A very mixed bag, the service from the bar staff is pretty poor, not made to feel welcome at all. The food can be fantastic, the burgers and pizzas which are only available on certain days (not clear when) are fantastic but the main menu is pretty dire, went for the steak and ale pie which was very over priced considering it was a thin layer of pastry on top and the inside was just gravy, think I found one chunk of steak in the entire pie, very poor. Beer garden is certainly the best part about the place.

Nice pub food, in a good location. It was a Saturday afternoon on a reasonably fair day in early April, so it was fairly busy. We did manage to get a small table in the corner as a couple were just leaving. My friend had a couple of pints, which he said were decent. I had a couple of lattes, these were also good. We both had steak pie and chips, the pie was served in a ramakin style bowl and was tasty, and also a generous portion, with homemade chips. We both enjoyed everything the food and our visit, the only cons were we felt we paid probably £2 too much for the food (not a big deal considering the location) and the staff were all very young, so customer service although adequate, was not of a high standard.

Stopped here multiple times whilst enjoying the town of Knaresborough. Always a friendly gesture upon entry, and I've enjoyed having a good pint every time. Good looks to be very good, though I've never stayed long enough to give it a try. A good place to stop while in town.

Great location situated right by the River Nidd. Stopped for a couple of drinks after a bit of a walk round Knaresborough Castle and along the river. Nice outdoor patio area with tables an benches. Dog friendly, although some were yapping a bit too much.

Lovely old pub with good ordinary food, not fancy over priced rubbish with tiny portions which seems to be the norm these days. We will return.

We parked just over from here, to go to mother shiptons cave and had already been told to try the pub by friends. We got there just after 11am, so it was quiet and had a choice of seats. There is plenty of seating outside to the side of the pub and on a terrace above the pub. Great views. I had the fish finger sandwich and my wife had the hunters chicken. You get so much food and it's so filling. Skin on chips were very nice and our mini schnauzer also appreciated the ones he got. Fish fingers were huge, photo will show that. Plenty of choice to suit everyone and highly recommend the pub. You can also walk alonh the river from the pub, to try and burn off some of the calories.

Enjoyed a couple of beers and two fantastic handmade pizzas. Also, the person that cooked our pizza was happy to pass on his expertise and experience for our own pizza making at home. Definitely returning here !

A really nice looking pub with a new extension. Loads of outdoor seating and an outdoor pizza oven. It was very busy here and there was only one poor guy serving behind the bar so it took us 15 minutes to get served. Got served san Miguel in an Estrella glass. I liked the pub but you dropped a star for these two issues. I will definitely come back, hopefully in summer then I can sit in the lovely outdoor space.

Lovely pub and the pub food was lovely but I ordered a burger from the kitchen outside where they do pizzas as well And it took a very long time what I don’t mind but when it got to me it was freezing after been sat on the side for half an hour I never complain when I go owt for food and eat everything but this burger was disgusting

I had pizza at this place that ended up being a total tourist trap due to its location. It was overpriced for what you get, and to make things worse, the dough was still raw and I even found a hair in it. Plus, they used that industrial mozzarella you see in all the cheap takeaways around England, not the good stuff. Honestly, it was a letdown, and I wouldn't recommend going there, at least the draft beer was good

Sat outside to enjoy lunch after a lovely walk around Knaresborough. Beat the queue and managed to find a nice table outside in the sunshine before the lunch-time rush arrived, due to it's prime location beside the River Nidd the pub does get VERY busy. Enjoyed a cold cider and then had a warm cheese and ham baguette with a portion of the most delicious chips I have ever had! My partner had sausage and mash and said it was very tasty. Would really recommend popping in for lunch!

If you like dog fights, nappies on tables and staff walking around every single table asking if you have ordered despite the fact the tables are numbered. Come on down. My lady and I asked for a tequila shot. They wouldn't accommodate us even though you can order whisky straight up. The best part was when the bar staff tried to pull pints across each other and dropped the glasses. My pint was flat even though it was in a nucleated glass. Don't bother

Very busy at lunch. Food good and fairly priced. Bar staff rushed off feet with orders but waiting staff serving food were toung and wete stood around twiddling their thumbs most of time.

Stopped here for a quick drink before heading to station. Walked in and seemed pleasant. Woman behind bar said we can sit at reserved tables as they weren’t expecting people till a few hours later. We sat the table and it was filthy. Table was sticky and smudged. Dirty napkins and food on the floor. Staff seemed to be young teenagers, around 16 years old all stood around. Hard to spot which of the children were staff given them all wearing various brands in black clothing, no sort of uniform. A child stood outside the door leading to the beer garden and urinated on the steps. Large puddle of urine not cleaned up by staff. People just stepping in the puddle. A child from a table walked up to a family eating, bent over and farted on their dog. Child kept exclaiming he farted on the dog. Stunk the place out. Kid then walked away as if nothing happened. Someone in the beer garden ordered drinks and their payment failed. The staff kept shouting throughout the pub the payment failed and to find the guy. Won’t be returning at all.

Visited for a late lunch after a long walk, staff were lovely. The male member of staff was helpful behind the bar and the guy making the burgers and pizzas was fab as he stayed to make our food. Food portions are huge and all home made. Such good quality.

Stopped off here after a long walk. Had a lovely welcome from the very friendly bar maid and an absolutely gorgeous steak pie meal. The chips were spot on and the pie delicious.

Absolutely fabulous (dogs friendly) place, friendly staff and great, tasty food.

Well 1 of us had Hunters chicken was abysmal watery sauce chicken tasted plastic certainly not like a fillet breast more like out of lidl aldi frozen processed chicken 🤷‍♂️ so for £15 was disappointing to say the least, the burger had horrible fatty bacon in and for £9 burger nachos 🤷‍♂️ and the waiting staff didn't bring cutlery either we had to go get them and even ask where they was lol... 1 of the forks wasn't even washed properly 🤮 just a few tweaks and this place would be a beauty, too expensive for what is served going by my experiences of other places.

Cozy bar, great family room with outside terrace, great service

Came for lunch with friends yesterday and decided to sit outside. Went to the bar to order food and said to an older man behind the bar that we were sat outside. Before I could even think what table number we were he cut me off and very rudely said “I know you’re sat outside but what I’m saying is you need a table number”. I ordered a coffee to which he said “you’re going to have to wait for the coffee machine” which I said was fine. My friend ordered a burger and was told she had to go and tell another man in a tent outside her order so he could make it. We were also told by the man behind the bar to “get your own cutlery” as he pointed in a general direction at the other side of the restaurant. The food was okay, I ordered a tuna melt, however, it was very very cheesy to the point where you couldn’t even taste the tuna. Wouldn’t have minded this if the bar staff hadn’t been so rude. Definitely won’t be going back.

GREAT FOR LUNCH WITH YOUR DOG! 🐾🐾 We had a very tasty lunch with our sweet pug Bella and her big brother Gucci, who is staying with us while his humans are abroad on holiday 😊. The staff made our dogs really welcome, service was super quick and the pub was so cosy! (we'd had chilly 3-mile walk in the Nidd Gorge). Bella said the home-made chips were the best she'd had so far this year! 😋 Five woofs from the dogs - and highly recommended from us! 😁

Lovely old worlde type pub. Very friendly barman (working alone as staff shortages that day), kept smiling despite being stressed. Food was great when it arrived, nicely presented and tasty. Will be great in summer with the patio in the sun.

Can't beat this place if your coming to Knaresborough for a relaxed atmosphere, good value for money and tasty pub grub . Bonus for us is its dog friendly .

Nipped in yesterday for a wee lunch with a few friends. Food was lovely and the staff were nice upon arriving. Only scored the atmosphere low due to the circumstances, midday, chucking it down so no one else around but I can imagine it's a quality boozer in the summer with a lovely view! Shall visit again

I really love this place. The food is the best, most comforting pub grub you could ever ask for. There isn’t a place on Earth where I have come across that serves such lovely big chunky chips! The decor at the front is inviting and traditional and opens out into the big back modernised space which is beautiful. The location is amazing with it looking over the river and plenty seating outside. The staff are all lovely and during the winter months there is a stunning large TIPI which is so gorgeous I would happily have my wedding reception there. Dogs welcome so I often bring my little Ellie and she knows everyone there and is welcomed as a little friend and given treats from the lovely bar staff. It also regularly hosts events like painting in the pub , the folk night on a Tuesday evening which is so lovely. A very relaxing affair with a group of friends and musicians sat around the tables singing songs and supping the great drinks on offer. The open mic on Sunday evenings is also worth a visit , some fantastic talent on display , great sound and so very friendly. Favourite pub in Yorkshire. Hands down. No contest. Thanks to all there and look forward to returning xxx

Food and service was good but the noise was unbearable...kids running riot. Parents fault rather than the staff though!

A fantastic pub on the outskirts of a busy market town. Set by the river there is plenty of outdoor seating for the summer months. As it was winter we sat inside to eat and chat. Fairly busy but we were served food and drinks quite quickly. The pub is dog friendly and there were a few there but well behaved, although judging by the whinging half pint drinker moaning at the bar staff you would have thought a pack of wolves was on the hunt. Don't like dogs? go somewhere else. The pub owners also have the Blues Bar, a great live music venue in Harrogate, and several other venues. Will call again

The perfect family pub to visit after a walk with the family or dog. So nice to see a pub that excepts everyone and pets rather than excluding visitors. The review I saw about the dogs being allowed encouraged me to visit. It’s pretty clear that the writer was nothing more than a dog hater spouting utter rubbish as I can see a review from him in nov and dec… can’t be that bad if he returned 😂😂😂 I’ve have also had the food which was fab.

What an awesome little place. As a Harrogate resident, I love that we have this just down the road. A great pub to visit on any occasion. Lovely cosy venue that's fantastic especially in the summer when all the terrace is open and busy. And being dog friendly means that all the local walkers can pop in too.

Always had an amazing experience here, been many times over the years with family, friends and also with my husband. It’s the perfect location for food/drinks after a walk and also in the summer as there’s soooo much outdoor seating you’re almost always guaranteed a seat! Food has always been spot on and everything is excellent value for money given it’s in a prime location in Knaresborough I’ve never thought the pricing was unreasonable. I can happily confirm that I’ve never had any issues with dogs barking/smelling or their general presence and the staff have always been super friendly and attentive, nothing was ever too much trouble and I’ve regularly had lovely conversations with them (over the years there have been different staff and they’ve all been lovely!)

Had a thoroughly enjoyable meal consisting of 2x fish and chips and my brother had Hunters chicken and my sister in law had vegetarian lasagne. All were delicious

Absence of welcome. Dismissive. Completely ignored even though I was the only customer. So I left. Guy blanked me when I walked past.

This pub is great, except they allow dogs in and they can be quite noisy, barking and being intrusive, as most owners don’t care if they wonder round the pub. The owners should state that dogs can be kept outside, the pub is ruined by dogs and I fur one won’t be returning!

Visited Nov 2023. I enjoyed their fish and chips, lovely fresh fish in delish batter. Spacious interior dining area in addition to a traditional, cosy bar seating area. The member of staff on duty was Mia, she was effecient had a very pleasent manner. Perfect location at the beginning of the Waterside road alongside the River Nidd. The Harrogate bus route passes by, there is a bus stop 100 yards away just across the bridge from the pub, and opposite it is an access road to a pay and display car park (free after 6pm).

Myself and my mum came here on our last night in Knaresborough. I had chilli with chunky chips (amazingly good chips) and my mum had a lasagne. Food great and staff very friendly! 😄

Two of us had roast beef. Flavour of beef 0. Tasteless. Thin as bought from supermarket. Gravey not made with beef stock. Mash tasted as out packet. Poor quality. Coffee was coloured water. Not value for £15.00 a dinner. Not asked if enjoying meal. Service poor, staff all kids
