Drake's Fish & Chips in Harrogate

Despite advertising an opening time of 22:00 they where closed by 21:30!! Not worth even bothering with!

Went in today 1 Jul 24. . Staff were lovely, and can’t believe the size of portions. There was no waiting to be served and very fast to be delivered. Well worth a visit

Really shocking good chips burnt to over done fish was like yesterday’s fish … not fresh at all ?? Dont think I will be returning

Sign says probably the best fish and chips in Harrogate and I have to agree they probably are. Excellent. Only issue was there was an uber driver in front of me getting a shipping order so I had to wait a while and I hadn't eaten for 24 hours literally.

This fish and chips were terrible. Chips tasted like old potatoes. Overcooked, dark and really greasy. Fish again overcooked and also had a taste of old/going off fish. Very overpriced. Disgusted with quality

Chef was rude, toilets were absolutely disgusting, food was awful. This place used to be great definitely gone downhill will not be back.

Missed the scraps from my order

my fish and chips were late delivery. to top it off they cold. very disappointed

Staff were really nice, but the food was not great. I had a standard pre made pie and chips and my partner had a “fish cake” and chips. The chips weren’t crispy and oily. And the fish cake was battered, so it isn’t a fish cake. Disappointing.

Went for lunch in the cafe 8th march will never go back the food was absolutely disgusting chips were stone cold and look like they had been left for hours asked for fresh staff couldn't be bothered to much chatting I've been sick overnight not surprised we were the only ones in the cafe went to the gents asked were the lightwas Tobe told it out so use the ladies staff are not interested more talking amongst themselves rather than bother with the customer

Fish were bits of fish. Not a fillet. very poor.

Plaice excellent but didn’t understand the delivery issue first order couldn’t be delivered so restaurant issues or driver issues??

Well I’m sure you have realised I like plaice that was excellent I know we had a couple of hiccups but back on track that was excellent 👍👍👍👍

After the last meals it’s nice to know normal service has been resumed the plaice was excellent thank you

Don’t know what’s gone wrong the plaice was not good the whole meal was cold so down to that old problem nobody care’s out to screw what you can and not provide any kind of service after all the meals I’ve had at Kingsley Drive now ???

Ignorant staff. They were chatting amongst themselves and threw my box of Fish and Chips on the counter making no eye contact or acknowledgement they were for me. Felt very undervalued and won't be going again.

Fish and chips hot and delicious. Delivery great. Unfortunately I ordered curry sauce, received mushy peas. Not going to mark negatively.

Well from Kingsley Drive to here at Fairfax Avenue I’ve lost count of the number of times I’ve had plaice and it’s always been excellent until tonight that was awful cold and I think it had a fight with Jaws !!!!

Plaice good my only point tonight would be a little heavy on the batter but the plaice taste wise was excellent as always thank you

I do not recommend. I waited over an hour for my order. French fries and fish are oily and fried in old oil, dark and not good. Last time I ordered.

Fish very dry and chewy. Curry sauce inedible and very sweet. I was so looking forward to my fish and chips with curry sauce, which I have had many times. I can only think that this shop has changed hands. I was going to make this a regular Friday lunchtime meal, but that won't be happening!

Well yet again salt and vinegar for me makes the chips on the order but not on the chips ??? Plaice was excellent as always why can’t we get onion rings ??

this is the 4th or 5th time our order came wrong or missing items. And if you dont want to put scraps on , fine! Just don't offer them then and your customer won't be disappointed. Not to mention , cold food and rude delivery driver. Won't be calling for a refund as last time you laughed at me and told me i ordered wrong, which was NOT the case.

They need to sell salt and vinegar as sides as they’re not able to put it on the food ! ! ?

Chips were very small and portion size of chips was small. Fish & batter lovely.

As you know I’m a loyal patron but always believe in constructive Criticism drakes need to back off on the batter both on the haddock and the plaice and a small portion of chips would be a good way forward I’m a Yorkshire man hate waste !,!

Use to e 5 stars, but I have been the other day and almost froze to death waiting for my food, when I asked the staff to close the door I have been told that they are not allowed, see you in summer!

I had battered sausage and it was diabolical it was rank the chips were that thin I could hardly find them I WOULD not recommend them at all

Delivery driver Claimed she was not allowed to deliver to my my address and that I needed to note this for next time. please inform your driver that I have never heard so much rubbish in all my life!!

Thought we’d give Drakes another chance after a couple of years of using Bradley’s. The only reason was that Bradley’s was closed. Our justification for switching has just been reaffirmed. Chips were cold and some not cooked through. Gravy and peas just about okay but again cold. Fish bites? I’d love to say they were delicious but they didn’t include them in the order and yes they did charge us for them. Very disappointing.

Shocking service missed items from delivery this has happened twice to me will not be ordering from you again

I am furious! Due to lack of drivers our meal was being prepared at the restaurant for nearly two hours - There was no option to cancel our order on the app or the website (believe me I tried!) I rang the restaurant twice and was told they couldn’t cancel the order either. We got our order two hours after ordering and far to late for our 7year old to eat dinner!! Trying to contact someone at Just Eat was also not an option as it kept flicking to the help screen!

I have no issues with the food. It’s traditional fish & chips and have bought from Drake’s on several occasions. It’s the slow delivery that leaves your food cold on arrival! It’s just not good enough and the restaurants/take aways suffer as a result.

Plaice needs to be lighter on the batter but flavour good and need to be consistent it seems to vary with days ordered

Disappointing! Chips ok, ordered one small one regularly! Both the same size, (small) Fish cake had no fish ! It resembled a potato cake! Curry sauce was OK but not enough chips to use all the sauce!!! £14 for the privilege! Shame was looking forward to them!!!

Delivery driver extremely rude I also paid for 2 cans of pop and only had one delivered food was cold Chicken burger was upside down not happy in the slightest

Nice to see new staff at drakes restaurant wednesday dinner time. Was a pleasant visit and great food and clean all round. The waitress Karen was kind and polite and always had a smile on her face bringing a cheerful atmosphere Definitely visit again 100% recommend a visit

Missing mushy peas with my order

Contacted on face book and email to complain about very dry fish and overcooked chips - ignored. Wont be going back ever - Bradley’s down the road can get our regular custom now 👋🏿

Food quality was overall good with delivery. Feel like a few little touches let them down. Hand battered scampi tasted like the normal frozen packet style and in the sides it mentions homemade tartare sauce. As an option when you select items you can choose sauce options but Heinz packet was sent. I can see that was probably my fault because i didn't order homemade sauce separately but feels a bit cheap when you've got a homemade option to throw in a packet instead. Haddock size was good and chips nice.

We visited yesterday for lunch my colleague ordered the large fish and chips with mushy peas I had the smaller portion with chicken for starter … they forgot the mushy peas and my meal after chasing we got the food … bearing in mind it was Friday it was very quite only one other couple in the restaurant

Order cold on arrival and chips stale. Batter was soggy and unpleasant. Have ordered from the counter several times before with no problems but won’t be ordering as delivery again. Disappointed on this order.

Whole place needs a good clean. Needs better quality fish, chips & mushy peas. The peas tasted weird. Value for money? Yes, you get what you pay for but the standard of Drakes has fallen, in my opinion
