Not eating there again got food poisoning

£9 for just fish that is frozen rubbish from a wholesale . Watched them get it out the freezer . Don’t waste your money on frozen rubbish. Could only have 1 fish as that’s all that’s ready. it takes 25mins to cook fish from frozen.

Small portions! Large sausage batter is the same size as a fish finger. Regular chips covered only half of the box.. food was ok but they took the piss with the portion sizes. £9 for fish which was same size as packet of crisp.. avoid

Don’t not even deserve a 1 star, I visited today and was rudely served by the staff that looked like they didn’t even want to be there. They got my order wrong and when I approached them where the rest of my food was the boy at the till they served me threw the receipt at me and said that all you ordered. I have never experienced such un educated staff ever. They need more training. No gloves or hair nets was used and there was a long black hair on my food

The food is terrible, cheese chips 5£ with some grated cheese on top and the sauce cost 1£ as well, do not recommend that place

The food was ok, bit out of order that we had to buy the condiments with the food as well.

I have been here twice already with my partner. Today came with my friend and it was almost closing time, but Brace was so kind enough to take one last order and let us sit in. Thank you so much! The team are lovely x

Sadly over priced for below average food. Old chips, oily fish that is more batter than fish and not the best service. Paid £40 for food and they still want to charge you for ketchup and cutlery.

I would definitely rate this restaurant 0/5 stars (but google only have a minimum of 1 star) the staff in this restaurant are unfriendly, unhelpful and the food the most disgusting i have tasted in any fish and chip restaurant across the UK, the fish was all oily, the chips tasted stale / un-fresh, burnt fish fingers and a battered sausage which was hard and like it had been sitting there from the day before, the chips were really disgusting and tasted stale with a few the colour green, if you want to be unwell go to this fish and chip restaurant but if you value your health and the health of your family and children Avoid The Pavillion Fish And Chips Restaurant.

This place is extremely expensive. The food came in tiny portions we spent £70 and none of us liked our food. We later saw someone walk in with a bag of FROZEN chips. Don't eat from this place unless you want to get ripped off

Food is the same as anywhere along the seafront - decent but pricey. What tips it over the edge is the extras: a single cup of tea is only £1 less than a portion of chips, and they charge 35p for a portion of ketchup. It really just feels like a rip off.

Brilliantly cooked food, all good but 4 stars for no Veggie or Vegan items in the menu

Over priced for a start. When the food come out the fish and scampi was slightly over cooked, the chips was under cooked, the chips was replaced and these was tasteless to a point never finished them. Never again will I eat here again

My family was at Southend this week we walk past this chip shop and said let’s give it ago we had cod and chips and saveloy and chips have to say the cod was nice and also the chips my oldest son wasn’t a big fun of the saveloy but I did think it was nice but every saveloy is different where ever you go

Perfect pit stop when exploring Southend. Surely the best scampi and chips in Essex? Walk up service and wait for your order, friendly staff and always enough high chairs available. Nothing fancy, does exactly what it says in the tin! However I do feel the 5 sauces for £1.10 are a bit expensive. Tastes even better with 20% off thanks to the annual pass card

What can i say apart from me my twin brother and my mum arrived back from a day trip to Southend with food poisoning and all because of this place me and my mum had fish and chips it was more batter than fish and no bigger than a fish finger for a whopping £6.50 and the chips well looked like they been cooked the week before £2 odd for a small portion i had a big portion for £3 odd and for that looked like a couple of extra chips my brother who as diabetes had cheesy chips cheese not cooked looked like they just tipped cheese over the chips out the fridge he should not have eaten it as he had to drive us back home to Bedfordshire i definitely will be phoning up Essex food trading standards agency as the food was disgusting and dangerous a shame cause it’s in a nice location and clean inside as well

Its a rip off dont waste your money there we got two cheesy chips and cod which by the way is 6.50 per cod, we got our food and the cod was tiny!!! We spent almost 30quid on food to top it off if you want ketchup or mayo its 1.50. Absolute rip off. DO NOT GO THERE unless you want total dissapointment.

The staff was very friendly and a happy bunch. The price was good and the food was lovely would go back again.

I used to go to this fish and chips shop every time i was in Southend which was once a week/once a fortnight but a couple of weeks ago they changed the portion sizes. I opened the container and I was gobsmacked by the size of the fish, it was very small. The cost was still the same. I now go to the other fish and chips shops across the road where the cost is the same but the portion sizes are bigger.

A bit expensive, chips were dull but nice outside and inside the fish was small but actually good and not many people and lots of seating. Took about 10 minutes to receive a 4 person order.

Absolutely disgusting in every possible way. The chips were soggy, undercooked and most likely prepared the day before, the cod had more oil than fish and it made me feel sick, the cheese on the fries had MOLD on it, the service was abysmal, the place filthy, the staff slow, lazy and incompetent, and I don't want to even think about the bathroom's conditions or I might get sick again.

Went here friday night and am glad it was before I had a skinful as I might have actually eaten the food. This is the worst chippy I have ever been to. I can't say anything was any good about it. Rude, miserable staff. Fish that skin on it and hard batter. The chips were minging. I'm sure the oil was really old. When I asked for some ketchup I was charged thirty pence. I wish I had tasted the food first as I had already wasted ten quid, why waste an extra thirty pence. Whole lot went in the bin. Disgusting!!!

Visited during the February half term and the staff were of 3-4 youngsters. They were very organised, attentive, friendly and the young girl cooking, cooked the food to perfection. Would definitely recommend

I've never had fish like it. The chips were okay, (hot). The battered sausage was as expected. The small cod was the most greasy, over cooked excuse I've ever seen. Most of it was just batter and skin.

Found an off the tourist track chip shop with fantastic portion sizes good taste and fab value.

This is one of the worst fish & chips restaurants I have every been too. The smell of the oil which they fried the fish and chips was disgusting & old. People don’t go to this place to waste your money and harm your health...👎👎👎👎👎

Only had a drink so unable to comment on the food hence the four stars, however the people were very accommodating with the group we took.

The food was not up to standards for a 40 minute wait. This was obviously due to the order being rushed. Overall it was a bad experience and ruined a day out.

the lady that served me was completely distracted, she didn't take my order correctly. my son ended up shearing my chips! the cod mushy and thin didn't eat it, the chips where dry and tasteless. it such a shame as the setting, openness and space is really nice. just don't bother eating there!

Fish and chips came out very fast. Quite expensive for a medium good and chips. The chips were not that fresh and had many black parts which where not edible.

I've been using this place as a good place to take family to lunch when we have trips to the beach. Over time their prices for basics such as chips have fluctuated, currently £3 for a large chips which I'd call reasonable value for money. Unfortunately seems as if they can at times struggle to keep up with demand when they have many orders, however I've personally not had any nightmare customer service, with the worst being a delay of -25 minutes between order and food (which you'd expect at least some of that as they cook to order).

Took our chances on this place as I'd never been there before. Admittedly it was about an hour before closing time, but I was disappointed with the service and the food was absolutely dire. I certainly won't be spending my time and money there again
