Wanted this to be good but the food was extremely poor. Mixed starter really greasy and deep fried and tasteless and chicken satay globular. Won’t be visiting again.

The worst Chinese we have ever had, totally covered in chunks of Garlic, disgusting, I will never go again

This has to be the worst food in Harrogate. Order at least twice a week through Deliveroo and I would never recommend this to another human being. You read between the lines. Pity I can’t add a photo is the post and you can see what was delivered to me.

The food reflects the customer service very poor overall, completely unsatisfied past local client.

Dry spare ribs now not on menu. Have used Lotus for years for the dry ribs, so disappointed. Will explore other Chinese takeaways in future.

The sauce on the crispy chicken had a very weird taste,nothing like sweet and sour I've ever tasted and far too much msg. The chips were old and had been refried. Not a good meal 1st time trying it.

Ordered a chicken curry meal tonight through Deliveroo but can't find how to leave a review on this app! Have ordered this meal on a regular basis over the last year and it has always been very good, however tonight the meal was no where near the usual standard, very watery and no where near the taste as previos Hope they can read this and cworkvoutc what went wrong tonight!

Terrible takeaway don’t order keep your money in your pocket! Absolutely disgusting even the teenagers wouldn’t eat it.

Really not good at all. Tasteless food, really poor customer service. It’s as if they just don’t care at all. This takeaway actually used to be really good a few years ago. Can only assume someone else has taken over as it’s the complete opposite of how it used to be.

Very bad experience, not only did the food arrive half an hour late, the order went through wrong (and I mean everything was wrong) and the lady on the other end of the phone was no help, she said she would call back.. 45 minutes later still no call. Everything about this has been a disappointment. The food looked like it was all thrown together in a burger tray and was leaking out too. Very poor and easily could of been sorted if the lady was helpful.

Ordered a takeaway through Uber eats, delivery was stated as 30-45 minutes, actually took 1hour 30 minutes to arrive. When we rang to enquire where our order was (restaurant delivers independently) the lady on the other end of the phone offered no apology and when my husband said so there’s no apology she replied that she wasn’t going to go into it as it wasn’t worth it then hung up! The food we ordered was actually really nice which is a real shame as we will NEVER order from them again

Super-late delivery - again!! Ordered from Lotus on Deliveroo. Said it would be 60 minutes. Eventually arrived 45 minutes late, with no explanation. We ordered from Lotus as it’s only a mile from where we live - want to support local businesses. So 1 hour and 45 minutes to deliver a basic order 1 mile. FAIL!! That’s the 2nd and final time that’s happening - not ordering from them again I can do without the hassle.

Terrible service... ordered a takeaway to be delivered in 1 hour 1 hour and 40 minutes later it finally arrived.. spoke to them and was treated with such arrogance will never order from Lotus again

Took our order via deliveroo. Left us waiting an hour and a half and never arrived. No update or communication and not taking orders by phone so no way we could get in touch. Do not order from this take away!!

We often order from the lotus and you can get a good hot tasty meal in twenty minutes if you sit in the shop. Delivery will take longer. Decent menu and prices average for Harrogate.

Tried this place for the first time this week as our normal chinese is closed on a sunday. Considering the majority of chinese takeaways in harrogate are awful, we were pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food. Tasteful and generous portions. Salt and pepper chicken wasn't great but the salt and pepper chips are top notch. Would visit again.

Have reverted to the Lotus Chinese Takeaway on the Internet sites as my Chinese of choice for three simple reasons 1 Always on Time 2 Always arrives piping hot (now luke warm like most others) 3 Quality of food, Ingredients and quantity is always very high Oh and 4 Large Spring Rolls are wonderful

Chicken soup OK but Spring rolls were more like Cornish Pasties without the meat

I don’t understand the poor reviews, if I’d seen them before ordering I would have looked elsewhere but I’m glad I didn’t. We just ordered a delivery from this takeaway as we are in Harrogate for a weeks holiday and was very impressed. We ordered online, got an estimated delivery time, got an update when the food was en route and the meal was definitely one of the best takeaway Chinese meals my wife and I have had in a long time. The food was hot and fresh, portions were large and the meat was really good. Very tasty overall and we would definitely recommend trying here. Maybe it’s had a recent change of management, since the poor reviews anyway, I don’t know but I would 100% order from here again if I lived locally.

Lotus used to be a very reliable Chinese takeaway, however I was given the wrong order this evening, when calling to complain, nothing was done and no refund offered. Do not go to this takeaway, an absolute waste of money. The dish I was given was disgusting looking egg fried rice and limp, soggy cold chips.

I nearly fell for some disgusting batch of food. I ordered spare ribs fried rice, curry sauce & chips- it arrived in a burger container all mixed together and when I said to them what’s this? He replied it’s what you ordered- I didn’t order it all being together looking like slop what if one of us had an allergy? He then got really abbusive because I didn’t want to accept it would anyone of accepted it? It was awful I will definitely not being ordering from them again it was appalling, I ordered from somewhere else & it was so much better.. be careful people you may not be so lucky of escaping this. If I could get away with not having to ring a circle I would so I had to give it a one.

The food at the Lotus was absolutely fabulous we had 4 different meals which were so tasty and very large portions in fact I had enough for the following day I will continue to use this one from now on ..... FAB

Been ordering from here for 10 years and had always been good. However a recent management change means that the food is now dreadful. Ordered 4 meals none of which were edible. Utterly appalling. Avoid.

Wasn't terrible, but not especially enjoyable either. Seemed to be that the food was not especially fresh - I suspect this is fairly common practice for a takaway, but really did feel as though they had warmed up some meat, and warmed up some sauce then just put them together at the end. The result reminded me of a microwave meal. On the plus side i didn't feel compelled to over-eat to the point of bursting!

The delivery was very quick and the food delicious! I was very happy with them! Decent prices too. The only minor issue was they forgot my coke. They offered to refund me the money but I opted to pick it up the next day (and forgot to do.)

We ordered food from here and it was nasty. Fried rice tasted burnt and black bits in dishes. I called them and sent the food back with my 10 year old son. They were hostile to him, gave him replacements and told us to never order there again..... very nice people! We would not dream of getting food from there again. The worst customer service attitude I have ever experienced.

The food was good but delivery was over an hour late. When I rang to chase it after it was half an hour late they said it was on its way but given the total length of time waited I doubt this was true. Food was good and may order again to give second chance

Over an hour for delivery and duck portion had a massive bone in it and i don't eat bones would have preferred more duck. Was offered prawn crackers for order being late when i called to chase but I'd already paid for them so got nothing extra.

Where are the proper prawn toasts gone that you used to do. These new ones are poor, no prawn! Bring the proper old ones back!

Chicken tasted very poor quality spring rolls were oily

Food was late but when I called, the staff were very helpful and apologetic. However the salt and pepper squid was over cooked. The prawns were bland and again over cooked in two separate dishes. And the noodles weren't that great unfortunalty.

It is always hot and arrives on time

Lemon chicken is great (best in harrogate) but always requires me buying an extra pot of the sauce!

Have to say I was shocked with tonight's meal. I've always loved Lotus as a Chinese & the duck in plum sauce was always the best in Harrogate, but not tonight. Should be renamed pineapple with duck. Opened my meal up & it looked like a tin of pineapples had been emptied in the bottom of the tub with a few pieces of duck. Such a shame as it used to be made in the sauce with like bean sprouts etc in the bottom. Unfortunately, don't think I'll be getting my duck takeaway from there again, which is a shame, as been going there over 10 years.

Been using lotus for 15 years , however first time I have had there salt and pepper squid, it wasn't nice due to a sauce that made the dish stodgy where salt and pepper should be crispy and the squid was flat and rubbery , it's usually much better quality other places I've had it - sorry guys improvement needed on the salt and pepper squid , other dishes are great.

Was ok but ordered chicken in szchuan sauce which is basically deep fried chicken in ok sauce which i hate so not happy.

Have been a loyal customer for years but I won't return. Food is poor, luke warm & over priced. It's a shame as always been good but now the quality is very poor, cutting corners but not pricing.

Nos alojamos en el Premier Inn cerca, pero nos apetecía chino en vez de llevar la comida en el restaurante mesa. Preguntamos si la comida podría ser entregado, pero cuando nos dijeron que sería una espera de 45 minutos, lo rechazamos y dijo que en vez de esperar y caminar muy rápidamente de vuelta al hotel! Estoy de acuerdo en que el Lotus es un poco más caro de lo normal, me pareció que la comida era adorable (hongos foo yung y vegetales chow mein) y el señor que nos atendió fue muy amable. Yo sugeriría que por el número de personas esperando en el chino, que la comida no es tan mala como se ha sugerido, y disfrutamos de nuestra comida.

Got my order wrong, ordered & paid for special fried rice but was delivered egg fried.. of course I didn't realise this until the delivery driver had already left. Other than that, the food was good.

Spring rolls are battered on the outside and too thick to be crispy, the ribs were more fat than meat and the whole order was very very greasy

Seafood soup was very dissapointing with 6 small shrimps. The rest of the food was good. Would return.

By far my favourite Chinese in Harrogate. Great food and lovely people.

Las especial frito arroz muy sosa y sin sabor, sal y costillas de pimienta eran simplemente muy frito grasa y cartílago, apenas carne y la pasta era tan grasienta fue horrible. Barbacoa costillas otra vez muy grasoso, sin salsa, casi seco y el Spring rolls estaban recubiertas por una especie de pasta y muy frito, el sabor era tan pésimo, tuve que escupirla en un tejido!! Muy caros y la calidad es absolutamente escandaloso"s. Sin duda no con ellos de nuevo y sin duda no se recomendárselos a cualquiera, muy decepcionado en el dinero que me he tirado en esta comida.

Special fried rice very bland and no taste, salt and pepper spare ribs were just deep fried fat and gristle, hardly any meat and the batter was so greasy it was awful. BBQ spare ribs again very fatty, no sauce, almost dry and the Spring rolls were coated in some sort of batter and deep fried, the taste was so appaulling, I had to spit it out into a tissue!! Very expensive and the quality is absolutely shocking.s. Will definitely not be using them again and will certainly not be recommending them to anyone, very disappointed in the money I have wasted on this meal.

The staff were friendly, and the place looked nice, but unfortunately the food was a real letdown. Watery, tasteless sauces and overcooked vegetables. Not recommended.

Ordering food here for 20 years, easily best in harrogate, salt and pepper chips and curry sauce are unreal, 100% recommend.

As someone who actually eats here - it's been really good for the past 10 years. Very friendly staff - always busy - a great local favourite of the whole family. Thank you Lotus.

Consistently bland, flavourless, greasy and synthetic. Very poor quality 'budget' ingredients. How this place stays in business is beyond me.

Amazing food, delivery consistently late, sometime 30mins or so but worth the wait if can be bothered!

Been going here for over 40+ years. It is full most weekend nights. On special days then it is rammed. It must be doing something right. The food is wonderful and relatively modest in price. The people there are welcoming courteous and very nice. Parking is available straight out of the door. They do deliver but can be a wait. Best to ring before and collect. Unfortunately no pub now to wait for the order but you can still get a bottle of something at Sainsbury's or the Coop!

The prawn toast appeared to have been made using a meat substitute that resembled chicken.
