Prego The Cafe Bar in Harrogate

Lovely lunch, we had baked potato, soup, panini and chip. All food was very tasty. Great service. Would definitely return and recommend.

I visit Prego regularly and always have an egg & bacon sandwich which is reliably very tasty. Last Friday my passport dropped out of my bag, and I didn’t realise I’d lost it. On Sunday I got a call from Prego saying a customer had found it, and handed in. So thank you to that anonymous cafe goer, and a massive thank you to Prego for calling me. I’ll be back😊

A lovely smiley lady from the kitchen who brought out our food was very nice and bubbly. Sadly the front of house staff were not. Need to do a swap and have the happy lady out front as she was great with customers.

Whilst enquiring why some cakes were labelled vegetarian and not others. (Aren’t all cakes vegetarian?). I was told that he couldn’t be bothered to answer me and to go elsewhere. So very unwelcoming. Had a very nice tea cake at another more welcoming cafe.

Unpretentious location but decent coffee and excellent cakes. Quick service by friendly staff. Sat outside and enjoyed the Spring sunshine.

Gorgeous cafe!! We both had hot chocolates and toasties with chips all really nice. The cakes we had were amazing (chocolate orange, lemon) we actually took a 3rd piece home. Great service too, couldn’t be nicer to us :)

Called in for, the place was empty and we chose a table for 4 that said only for 2 or more, thankfully we were allowed as three of us! Never seen that before, especially when no customers?? Ordered the panini, sandwich and toastie. All well filled and very tasty, had the excellent flat whites and fabulous beer for one of us. Very reasonably priced with good service. A previous review mentioned the toilets in the grubby basement, they are terrible. A geyser for hot water, not been updated since the 60s ?

Lovely small quiet cafe. Very friendly and quick service. We came twice, I tried the spiced parsnip soup and the leek and potato soup, both were lovely. I told the staff that I am coeliac and the accommodated accordingly. My boyfriend had the cheese and ham panini which he really enjoyed. All very well priced

The title says it all, the toasties are made with proper bread, thickly cut and presented rusticly but that is the way I like it. The soup is so thick that you almost need a knife and fork to eat it.

Coffee and panini were good, the atmosphere was tense as the male manager was very rude to the waitress throughout our visit , she was very pleasant and credit to her for keeping her cool , maybe he needs to enrol on a customer service course.

We are residents of Harrogate and visit this cafe regularly. We love this cafe and the food. The owner runs this cafe very efficiently and has to in these challenging times for all small business's. There are many cafes now in Harrogate but this remains top of our list.

AVIOD!!! VERY RUDE OWNER SHOUTING AT ME TELLING ME WHERE TO SIT. WE WERE NOT ALLOWED TO SIT NEXT TO THE WINDOW. I DID FEEL VERY EMBARRASSED AND UPSET. SHOCKING PLACE. NEVER AGAIN.

Had lunch here on a busy Saturday lunch service. We had toasties and sandwiches. Very tasty, although I couldn’t taste lemon in the lemon chicken mayo sandwich. Neither the less it’s was an enjoyable lunch.

Sat outside in some rare sun this summer, but to summarise is was pretty expensive for an average coffee (despite enjoying the sun!). Lovely outlook onto a nice park though.

I an sure this review will illicit an umpleasant reply but the owner of this cafe is rude and arrogant.Visited with friends over from Australia,service with a scowl not a smile!Unpleasant atmosphere as he glowered at us whilst we decided what to eat.Food and coffees were good which makes his attitude all the more ridiculous. Many more cafes in this area with lovely smiling staff and genial owners,avoid this one!

Super rude owner/manager who told me off and continued arguing with me (bearing in mind I’m 8 months pregnant) for simply moving two tables closer together. This was to accommodate seating for my disabled uncle and auntie. I was dumbfounded by his abrupt and aggressive attitude: a completely inappropriate way to speak to customers… But from reading the other reviews, this sounds like a common occurrence. Even on this app, he can’t cope with any criticism, and has to retort with defensive, hostile comments, which is very indicative of his real-life behaviour. He needs to exercise some self-awareness and realise he is the common denominator, before jumping to the conclusion that his customers are the problem. Avoid avoid avoid.

I honestly can’t believe some of the reviews on here. We come to Harrogate at least 4-6 times a year and always make a point of coming here for breakfast. Fact - the coffee is always hot and tasty (and we love coffee). Fact- the bread is from a local bakery (as are the gorgeous vanilla slices), Fact - the bacon is thick cut and from a butchers , you can simply tell it’s not supermarket stuff. We like our bacon very crispy, it’s always been cooked very well. Fact - the eggs are good quality and cooked very nicely however you have them. Fact - the fridge is always stocked with a variety of cold drinks and a nice juice for breakfast. Fact - we have always found the owner to be pleasant and have shared little jokes from time to time ( we find if you are pleasant to people and talk nicely to them then they usually reciprocate). Fact- the decor is nice, we like the exposed stone walls and on warmer days it’s nice to sit outside at one of the little tables. Fact - the tables are cleared and cleaned down quickly after each customer.Yes, there are signs on the larger tables saying two people can’t sit there but this is a small place and the owner needs to maximise the space so we understand the need for this, why should he have to turn customers and custom away because of the thoughtlessness and greed of others, it never ceases to amaze me why couples will walk past a table for two and take a table for four+. We think it’s good value for money and will be in Harrogate for Spring Bank holiday and will certainly be heading here for breakfast - fact!

If you expect a decent pot of coffee or in our case a tasteless very poor quality expensive Latre which tasted like it was made with water and not milk, then try this Cafe you will be seriously disappointed by the lack of quality. How anyone can make such a disaster of making a Latte. And the manager who seems to think he is doing the customer a big favour by selling rubbish. Plus his manners are seriously diabolical. They were none existent. My goodness give this place a wide berth, I would expect better quality in a town like Harrogate. I'm seriously glad we didn't try the food looking at previous reviews of this poor quality establishment. Should have thought better with an empty cafe as we walked in. But Never Again...
