J D Wetherspoon in Harrogate

Visited on Tuesday 12 November 2024. A very cozy Spoons with a lovely ambience. The food and drink were excellent and very well priced. The service was also very good. We expected the prices to be higher than your normal Spoons, considering how upmarket the area is. A well above average Wetherspoons establishment.

Had a steak and kidney suet pudding with mash and peas,gravy, gravy was cold and congealed mash was cold and bland,horrible

Atmosphere great - locals, walkers, cyclists, friends. Excellent all day breakfast and service very efficient. Recommend.

We have family meals here and it's so cheap but without compromising on quality, the food is gorgeous, staff friendly and nice location.

Was only there about 20 mins for a quick bite. But no complaints. Seats available, quick service and nice staff.

It's a Weatherspoons I'm sure people know what to expect, low cost drinks and food. The place is often very busy so the staff have to work hard to keep it in decent condition. They seem to manage quite well and most of them are friendly and helpful.

It was busy. The food was ok but our beans came out cold. Atleast they replaced them with piping hot beans

This is a decent wetherspoons, good service and clean tables even when it was busy. Hot chocolate with free refills was 99p so the kids where happy.

Due to the bad weather outside, I sought refuge in this establishment. I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food and drinks offered, and the service was excellent. The dishes were well-prepared and flavorful. The food tasted fresh and was clearly of a high standard. Furthermore, the pricing was quite reasonable. The value of the cost of a meal and drink was exceptional. I would highly recommend this establishment to others seeking a pleasant dining experience. It's a perfect choice, especially when the weather takes a turn for the worse.

Food had to be reheated. Which the staff did do.

Always busy when we have visited here. Good range of real ales. Staff keep the place clean.

Regular Spoons big building, friendly staff, great selection of ales, quick service and yes the toilets spotless as ever are upstairs . They even have a real fire . I would definitely recommend this place to stop off for coffee or a beer.

Good all round. Was cold in restaurant area, asked a polite member of staff and he went and checked if the heating required adjusting. So warmed up.

Just had a drink in here, just seemed like every other Witherspoons pub cheap and cheerful, with everyone ordering at the table and the staff seeing to them not enough staff serving at the bar so quite a wait to be served.

Had a fantastic few days coming here, Prices really cheap and staff are superb, Special mention for Kate, Will, Owen and debs, Who we're very professional and friendly, An absolute credit to wetherspoons.

This pub has a fantastic atmosphere, staff are helpful, friendly and nothing is too much trouble. Kate, Will, Owen and Debs thankyou for lovely memories in a picturesque town we will never forget. We loved our time here and Wetherspoons delivered again. Check out the Women's Bathroom, if possible 😜, fit for Royalty. Stunning place and cheerful people. Hopefully we can visit again soon.

Everything was good apart from the sirloin steak I had,it was tough and loads of gristle, been to other weatherspoons and had the same food and others were very good, unfortunately this one was not

Horrible place, limited menu, most of the beers were off on an early Saturday evening. Football blaring out. Horrible.

Very busy for a Tuesday initially but found a good table. Food as expected for Spoons. No complaints. Space outside for a drink if needed. Very large open floor plan. Tables can be a bit close so not too much privacy in some areas. Staff were great and drinks and food full marks. Will visit again when passing through

Great place, excellent value for money. Happy smiling staff serving beers in lovely condition, and the food is usually very good too. As 'spoons go, this has to tick all of the boxes, and is well worth the visit. Recommended.

Exactly what you expect from a spoons!

Came over from Harrogate (prefer Knares & Ripon ‘Spoons) as not as noisy 👍🏽 10 Spicy chicken wings & chips was on my table in 5mins’. All washed down with their Chocolate Stout (in their Beer festival). Worth coming over for

We had an issue with an order, female short black hair possibly a senior member on the bar we just went up to ask a question about what we could do but she was absolutely awful about it and dealt with it horribly, we had asked politely about what we could do about the matter but all we got was a moody and grumpy response , no sympathy or a solution to the matter and was just down right rude about it and then to top it all off one of the orders didn’t come for an hour as they had clearly cleared it off without being finished. The food took 45 minutes to come. Absolutely awful experience.

Popped in for one drink, what an awful loud bar, with people wrecked at 1pm, this is a family pub, people swearing too, maybe okay on a night but awful at lunch time with children about. Horrible experience today sat afternoon shocked for a nice town like Knaresborough. I had to leave

One of the best wetherspoons we have visited, two vegetarian breakfast nice and hot ( didn't eat vegan sausage,not a fan since you changed them from quorn), very clean, good coffee, first spoons with a chaise lounge in the wc.

The food was cold ordered beans but they were cold he said they had just been out of the kitchen will not be going there again

While on holiday in Knaresborough, had drinks and food in here and as you you sit and watch your surroundings,they are not very good at clearing tables so other people can sit for food and drinks and we had a long wait for our food which could have been hotter. There was one member of staff who ran rings round the younger ones she never stopped but I suppose that's wetherspoons and it won't change.

Our local 'Spoons. Always consistent service and food. Nice and reliable. Friendly team through the week, never been in on a weekend so no idea how busy it gets.

Quiet place. In a great town though.

More staff needed Dirty tables Burger wasn't nice

Saturday afternoon meal to be recommended . Forgot to take reading glasses. Staff behind the bar very understanding and helped explaining and ordering menue. The steak was to be highly recommended. 😋

Lots of staff running about but did not seem to be doing a lot, one just stood looking at me and said I'm not serving, 10 mins before we were served in a polite nice manner, but the food did not get to the table until 45 mins later, we was offered food twice, but they had got the wrong table, the place was busy but we were not advised of how long a wait would be.

Just had the worst bowl of uncooked porridge (tried twice to make it but still not right) and the number of blueberries with it was laughable! Miners breakfast has vastly reduced in size. Won't be bothering again - food really gone down the pan in Spoons!!

Just called in for drink nice and refreshing nice little garden for smokers

The table was very sticky and needed a good clean. The chips were white and not very nice.

The upstairs toilets were good. Downstairs the service was slow, half the tables occupied, four people waiting for service at the bar, server taking his time, other staff wondering about, the place, one cleaning tables. I only had an hour before my train. So I lost patience and left.

Typical, reliable Wetherspoon quality and value. Nice Pub close to town centre, railway station and Castle.

there was no cheese on my cheesy chips which costs an apaling £5.41 for a few measly chips and a light sprinkle of cheese , and a pea which i found beneath the 6 chips which was served and soggy nachos

not coming back here customers are treated as garbage, the staff are bullies and will ruin your day for no reason other than there own power trips and arrogance

Typical Wetherspoons, food was the same as every other Wetherspoons. We sat outside on the beer garden as it was a lovely hot sunny day. There was someone smoking nearby us whilst we were eating however a member of staff politely let the lady know that there was a designated smoking area away from where everyone was sat eating and drinking. As a non smoker this was a refreshing change. All in all the food was nice, the atmosphere was pleasant and the service was spot on.

Its a Wetherspoons.....but this one is in Knaresborough which makes it a little bit special.

I wish staff would concentrate on serving customers waiting at the bar instead of doing other tasks. Customers pay your wages, no customers, no need for staff. Plenty of quiet times to do the nitty gritty jobs. CUSTOMERS COME FIRST!!!! Not here seemingly, any other job comes first

Didn't have anything to eat, but looked OK.

Been going to Wetherspoons for years! I honestly think Knaresborough is the best! The waiters are very friendly, especially the waitress Ireland! The food is always delicious and fast. Thanks Knaresborough!

I am writing this review not for the food, which was nice, cheap and as ordered, but for the service. The lady behind the bar was outstanding ,we were ten minutes before we could order our meals but let us get our lattes while waited. Then when I explained my partner had a mushroom allergy she not only put it on the order but rang down to the kitchen so they definitely got it. What excellent service and thank you.

We had a very pleasant lunch on our visit. The staff were efficient and cheerful.

Staff friendly, prices good. Mixed grill rubbish, I've had fatter bacon than the "steaks" I got with the mixed grill.

It's a spoons, it does the job. The staff are wonderful but there are other far better places to go in town that won't leave eye roll worthy magazines on the table. Go somewhere else, spend a quid extra and pay into the local economy.

My chicken was like rubber staff not very friendly or welcoming.

Lovely little pub, sadly it appears the staff dropped the ball today and what should have been a fantastic burger was disappointing, an hour wait would have been fine given the lunch rush, but the meals felt like they'd been on the hot hold for atleast 20 minutes, could have been better, not the worst I've experienced but no where near close to the beat I've had either

OK, I have to admit that I am not a great fan of this chain of pubs but like Woolworths, their policy of plenty and cheap has it's attractions. The building is a tardis bigger on the inside than it looks on the outside. Situated on a steep hill with lots of competition nearby the main observation I got was "where does one park" and the place is well used and in need of a bit of maintenance. The "help yourself to coffee refills" is a great help to designated drivers.

A great Wetherspoons! Went there on a Saturday late afternoon, with a good atmosphere with tourists & locals. The young staff seemed to be very busy & engaged in what they were doing which was good to see, although maybe they were a bit stretched serving drinks behind a busy bar & serving customers at their tables using the drinks ordering app. We ordered food which came about 10 mins after ordering which was fine & the food itself was simple but tasty & filling. The toilets were in good condition & clean but upstairs (as in all wetherspoons, more downstairs space for tables & customers I suppose) Overall a pleasant visit with thanks to the nice staff there.

Had two glasses of wine. First glass was filthy, second one wasn't even a wine glass, staff were arguing between themselves, not impressed at all. Would have probably stayed longer but bit in those surroundings

Was served by a lovely Irish girl called tash who gave us great recommendations on food will definitely be back
