Nice place; hard working staff, beautiful outside, in the Summertime. There's a carpark available, close to the town centre.

A casual, no frills, basic pub  located in the centre of Ripon, just off the market square. Friendly welcoming staff and locals. I had a decent pint of guiness at a decent price. Not much atmosphere given that it was 8pm on a Saturday night but it gets very busy around 12am as it has a late licence and I'm told is the go to place when other pubs have stopped serving, hence the 4 stars. Sports TV Pool table Small beer garden Parking

Arrive to find a well established pub with a really charming feel, a thirst for a cold Guinness poured by a delightfully stunning lady with jet black hair. My apologies for my memory as faces are better than names(man syndrome). Was delighted to chat with a number of people, including the other side. Much appreciated to all for your hospitality and I look forward to returning. :-)

We drank here whilst staying in an apartment two houses away. We sat in the beer garden (overlooking the car park). Heading inside to order, the bar was a typical working bar, with snooker table and people enjoying a drink after work. There was a varied selection of beer, albeit the pricing was less than keen. Later during our stay, we headed elsewhere....

We love this pub whenever visiting Ripon and always return. The landlords are welcoming and it is evident very popular with locals too. Good facilities too and for those hot summer days the beer garden is not deprived of a TV for those wanting to watch sport.

Called in during a visit to see family. A very lively locals pub, with a warm welcome for strangers like me! The pub keeps a good cellar from what I could see, and whilst I had moved on elsewhere, karaoke was the main entertainment for the evening. Will definitely call again.

After going in and out of many pubs wine places and eateries on Saturday night the lamb and flag was our last stop and by far the best. Although not many people in at first 9pm we were told it would get busier and it did. The karaoke started around 10ish and it was lots of fun to watch people having fun and enjoying themselves. Drinks a bit pricy though!

Surly staff, slow service, though the cafe wasn't busy and despite 4-5 staff members on shift. Toilet in a terrible state (I know the public can be disgusting when using facilities) but the loo and room hadn't been properly cleaned in a long while - the loo itself was not in good condition. The cafe overall is a bit scruffy - not a nice representation for Knaresborough's historic market place.

Oh. My. GOD. Let me tell you about my night at this pub in Knaresborough because, honey, it was an absolute disaster – and not the fun, reality-TV kind. No, this was the kind of drama that would make a telenovela look like a casual tea party. I sauntered in, thinking I was about to have the night of my life – and with this face, why wouldn’t I? The place was cute enough, I’ll give it that, and I thought, “This might actually be fabulous.” But oh no, darling, the universe had other plans. First off, the online ordering system was down. DOWN. In 2024! I mean, I might as well have been trying to send a telegram! The whole point of going to a pub these days is to sip a cocktail while casually tapping away on your phone, right? But noooo. Instead, I had to walk to the bar like some peasant from the 1800s. The nerve! The bar? PACKED. I could feel the wrinkles forming as I waited, endlessly, for someone to notice me. And when they finally did? They had the audacity to act like it was my fault that their ancient system had crumbled. I swear, I was two seconds away from giving them a live performance of “And I Am Telling You” right there. But wait, there’s a twist: the toilets. GORGEOUS. I mean, I walked in and thought I’d been transported to a high-end spa. Marble, mirrors, the lighting was divine—honestly, it was like a little slice of heaven in the middle of this disaster zone. I spent more time in the bathroom admiring the décor than I did actually eating or drinking. Priorities, darling. So, here’s the tea: if you’re after a stunning restroom experience, by all means, swing by. But if you’re hoping for decent service or a smooth ordering process, save yourself the heartbreak. I left hungry, frustrated, but at least with a fabulous selfie from the loo. 1.5 stars – And that’s only because the toilets SLAYED.

We recently stopped at Wetherby Drive Thru and were refused service as we had a dog with us. We all know that Costa have recently changed their policies and allow dogs in most coffee shops. Despite sharing the specific branch amenities stating dogs allowed the staff were totally inflexible. Staff should be fully aware of company policies and Costa should update door posters at the same point in time with such changes to avoid ambiguity. Finally staff should not hide behind the fact they are a franchise, branches branded as Costa have identical look and feel and follow same policies otherwise there are inconsistencies which lead to poor customer service and satisfaction.

Food safety procedures don’t exist. No gloves wear and direct hands on food like grated cheese. Staff on their phones after washing hands and come back straight to touch food without washing again and gloves. Touching clothing, objects and face and straight tooling of food. Dirty nails with chipped nail varnish. No regard to allergies and allergens. I do not recommend! Reported.
