Popped in for food and a drink and glad we did. We got a warm welcome, dog friendly and as we were senior citizens food was half price and tasty, all washed down with a nice pint.

having missed booking at on pub we spotted the sign for this one. We ordered sweet chilli salmon, and bangers and mash, a pint and a coffee. £30. The portions were small. Sausages were overdone, and vegetables that were advertised as roasted were not and were hard. I ate the sausages as I was hungry and left the rest. My partners salmon was over cooked with raw potatoes. We complained and were offered a poor apology and the offer to redo our meals which we did not want to risk. No offer of reimbursement was made. Definitely one to avoid at all costs. We went because it used to be run by friends of ours and had good reviews. Not any more.

A lovely, traditional pub with a limited but well curated selection of ales plus the usual line up of keg beers, lagers and ciders. A traditional ‘pub grub’ menu of food is on offer with the old favourites we’ll presented in generous portions. We enjoyed the charity bingo on Friday, it was light hearted, great fun and raised a tidy sum for charity. The new, young and enthusiastic landlords, Chloe and Andrea are so warm, friendly and welcoming. I recommend that you call in, whatever you’re after, you won’t be disappointed.

Popped in for a snack. Pleasant location, typical old style Yorkshire pub. Bar staff pleasant, although whilst we were there 8 other customers came and left whilst we were there. Despite displaying on outside a variety of ‘Chef Specials, a traditional fire etc ‘ nothing was available. We were told that landlord would not be renewing tenancy. The simple food we ordered was simple but poor, wasn’t a nice jaunt out. Wouldn’t revisit, we do hope we caught it on a bad day, felt unloved as a venue.

Awful, from start to finish. We arrived and stood at the (almost empty) bar for almost 10 minutes before a member of staff came back in the room. We asked about food and was told we could get a menu from the end of the bar and that they also do Sunday lunch. We decided that two of us wanted a starter each and then all four of us wanted the Sunday lunch. I asked what the options were - beef, beef or beef, apparently. The young girl behind the bar then asked if we wanted the four meals and the two starters all at once… no, obviously. We then waited half an hour for our starters and was told to ‘let her know when you want the other meals’…. Maybe after the starters, like everywhere else!? It was then another 40 minutes after the starters that the Sunday lunch arrived. Frozen veg, tough beer, flat yorkshire puddings, inedible cauliflower cheese and a shot of gravy each. Everything about this place is awful. It’s also not particularly cheap. Avoid.

Sorry but this was a real let down. Service from bar person was excellent but apart from that nothing else was positive about the experience. Arrived at 2pm for something to eat, we ordered the pie and burger with chips. The staff seemed to be under the cosh with the orders, although the pub wasn't full. The wait for food was approx an hour and when it came the pie was okay, just, but it was served with cold mash and what can only be described as blue, tasteless cabbage like strips. Very poor. The burger was a joke, I would say it was a cooked 3oz burger so very small on the plate served with some cold chips (approx a dozen). The chef, or anyone assisting the chef wasn't wearing any apron so that put us off immediately. Lesson learned, we won't return.

We arrived at 12 noon and half our dinner arrived at 1 pm the chips arrived at 1.15 and they weren’t cooked. We kept asking where our meals were and was told it was because everyone had ordered at the same time which was a load of nonsense as there was two tables in front of us and they had already ordered before we went in. I don’t know what kind of chef they employ but surely even a half decent one could have produced six plates of food quicker.if they couldn’t deliver we should have been told before they took the order. It wasn’t great when it did arrive and not worth the £24 price. Needless to say we won’t be going again and certainly won’t be recommending it.

We visited for Sunday lunch and had the steak pie - was really tasty with amazing chips. But even better was the service. My dad fell ill just after we’d finished eating, and the staff were fantastic in making sure he was well looked after and got the treatment he needed (all ok now thankfully). I can’t thank them enough for looking after us like they did. They were also very welcoming to our dog, who was absolutely delighted with the beef snacks she was offered! It is an unpretentious small pub in the centre of Knaresborough. The 2 staff on duty were very helpful and welcoming. We had a pub meal and were not expecting anything special but were pleasantly surprised how tasty it was with generous portion size. We were the only ones eating so it's difficult to know how efficient the service would be if busy. We would visit again as we were treated well but it is, as said earlier, an unpretentious pub but not at all unpleasant. We noticed that dog owners are well catered for which didn't affect us, but useful to know.

First of all let’s begin with the good parts....there’s only 1...the bar maid working was very polite, apologetic and left on her own having to do table service to a full bar but she remained professional throughout. Now...we ordered a pint & a wine, wanting a nice drink before we went to our restaurant reservation. There were issues with the fosters so I changed to morretti. Then we were informed it was an issue with the gas. The lady working was waiting on her manager to return to fix the issue. The manager so to speak was drunk, not only fell down the steps to the cellar but also up. Herself and her partner both stared at myself and my girlfriend making us feel unwelcome and very uncomfortable. To say the experience was enjoyable would be a lie. We wasted half an hour sitting with a wine and no lager to be made to feel like we were not welcome. AVOID UNLESS YOU WANT TO WATCH DRUNKEN MANAGEMENT

Came out for the day to Knaresborough from Leeds for a walk about and an explore. It started to rain and we needed food and stumbled upon this place. So pleased we did! Sat in a very cosy little corner and had some really tasty food. I got the chili which came with chips and salad and boyfriend got lasagne which came with the same sides. All was really tasty and just what we fancied after a day of walking in the cold British summer - haha! Food was obviously home made and can't complain at that. It was hot, tasty and very good value. Can imagine it would be lovely in the winter with a fire on as it was very cosy. The pub is also dog friendly as I noticed a water bowl and some doggy treats which is always a winner in my book.

Food safety procedures don’t exist. No gloves wear and direct hands on food like grated cheese. Staff on their phones after washing hands and come back straight to touch food without washing again and gloves. Touching clothing, objects and face and straight tooling of food. Dirty nails with chipped nail varnish. No regard to allergies and allergens. I do not recommend! Reported.
