When arrived it was busy which was nice to see, staff polite and patient with each customer and moved the line quickly as they served each person, even though they were busy and a bit flustered they were still very polite and amazing at their work. Enjoyed My visit.

Called in on Sunday 3rd during the town Christmas Fayre . Queue out the door but all the staff were incredibly hard working and cheerful 😄. They deserve a bonus for looking after such a big crowd so well.

We've been here a few times, especially during the market day, but today, we decided to grab some bread from some bakery and buy coffee from them. We stayed on the premises because it was raining outside and we have a 7 month old baby. We decided to enjoy our coffee with the bread we brought with us but after a few minutes, a staff told us not to eat outside food in there saying they have lots of cakes and breads. If this is the case, they should have put up a signage that they dont allow outside food. Will never come here again.

Fuming the staff forgot about my order & had to redo another Panini when the cafe is dead too shocking service.

Visited on a quite morning & was greeted by a miserable lady who frankly huffed & puffed her way through my order. She worked some time ago in Harrogate & had the same demeanour … nice to see time hasn’t mellowed her! Will give it a miss in future.

We visited this cafe with our friends from Australia. We had cappuccino with pistachio mousse cake, coffee latte and cappuccino cake, teas and banana loaf cake and toast. Everything was OK and I loved pistachio cake, it was excellent. There was issue with full tables, I expected that the staff will clear and clean tables quickly after guests left. But it must be very popular as it was full of people. The toilets were clean.

Thank you extremely polite curtious & the best is it is a Dog Friendly establishment. Had a lovely Coffee. 😊

Caffè Nero in Knaresborough. Incredibly slow service (12 minutes to make a smoothie), not much variety of food (not to mention £2.10 for a croissant is a bit too much) and loud people inside and drunk people outside.

Terrible , dirty tables, dirty cups. Rude staff. No customer service at all. We will never return .

It had a great view of the town square on coronation weekend. Some people have been busy.

Great coffee stop but not enough seats

Unfortunately the coffee is drastically inconsistent and drinks are made way too hot. I have asked for it to be cooler however it seems to be standard practice here that to make a drink cooler additional cold milk is poured in after the drink is made rather than simply steaming the milk for less time. This makes the drink very weak and very flat. That being said, there is one or two baristas there who do make a good coffee, this is why I have not rated the place 1 star

Not enough staff to clear tables. Dirty tables with cups on etc doesn't invite me, sorry. Glad you take doggies though 👍

I love a Caffé Nero haul where always possible and one of the most awesome UK coffee joints I've visited. Cute, quaint and homey laid back joint with a great vibe and very welcoming cosy seats with a great drinks menu and phenomenal plant based non-dairy milk alternatives at great fare. Dont forget your Nero rewards stamps! Earn an extra stamp by saving our beautiful planet and bringing your own reusable thermos. The single origin Brazil Espresso is a knockout and 100% worth the upgrade for sure. I love how Caffé Nero is a low fuss and down to earth coffee joint and never charges extra for non dairy milk options and has fantastic yummy vegan pastries!

We entered this establishment with high hopes for the time ahead. We were heavily disappointed!we walked in and were greeted with dirty looks and silence from the cafe, we proceeded to sit down and drink some apple juice (which we bought earlier) and this Karen came over and told us we were disrespecting the space and were drinking outside drinks. I clearly directed her to the Caffè Nero sign on my drink but she persisted in her efforts until we left in disappointment. Outrageous!

I've always liked cafe Nero, it's very welcoming , lovely staff and always busy, so that alone speaks for itself .

Staff and service were fine however the cleanliness was dreadful and the place shabby. Everything needs a deep clean.

Crikey, rudest Nero ever. Tried to get four drinks at 4.50pm. Told we can buy it but have to get out of the restaurant in 4 minutes. No apology, no smile, no explanation. We spent two hours walking to Knaresborough for that welcome. Usually Nero are brilliant - this was diabolical.

Love this coffee, fantastic selection of cakes to meet those with dietary needs. Clean toilets. Dogs welcome which is a bonus for us. Staff absolutely lovely. Reasonably priced for 2 toasties , cake and a drink each.

I had the most horrible visit today at 8.40am this morning at knaresborough nero. Me and my friend pop in for a takeaway coffee so I order mine but when the lady gave it to meet she didn't give me a sleeve so I ask for one but she said they didn't have any so I just went and got a napkin instead but I went to take a sip and there was no drink hole in the lid so I said "excuse me there is no drink hole, please may I have a different lid?" Then out off the blue the other lady making my friends drink pick up some scissors and THREW them at me!!!! They hit my friend in the stomach and feel to the floor, I was so shocked I picked up the scissors and put them on the counter and said "I'm not stabbing my own hole thank you they are really dirty!! So she then said the her colleague "it's going to be one of those day". I'm so appalled at her attitude and manners I will never go back again so if you in knaresborough don't go to nero!! I think I will stick to Northallerton and Thirsk mush nicer staff and a lot more friendly.

Nero's is my favourite chain coffee shop, this branch in Knaresborough was OK but needs a bit of TLC it's tired both inside and outside, peeling paintwork. In a tourist honey spot like Knaresborough they I think need to be much smarter. Next visit hopefully 4 or 5 rating.

We have been in various Caffè Neros but have never been into one as neglected as this one. It was generally dirty and not well maintained. The windows were filthy with lots of sticky tape marks where posters had been. The staff paid little attention to the customers and spent most of the time talking behind the counter. Not a very good experience.

Employee was having a laugh with custoner (friend?), and having meaningful glances towards me while commenting negative way people who wear masks. I do use mask when going to cafe etc. I don't care what opinion everyone has, but she shouldn't behave like that at work. She can't know if I have cancer, or any other health condition that might make me more vurnuble than others. They made me very uncomfortable, so I'm not going there again.

Some great staff but when you get two chatting while only one is serving, then you get one of the 'chatters' who get your drink wrong, no please or thank you.....

We had been exploring all hours of the night and slept in the car was a giggle loved every minute of it went back to the car at 6am wake up at 2pm drove to the nearest town for a coffee and food we found this Nero caffe and it was shocking the girl didn’t even ask if we wanted to sit in or take out and assumed we was taking out put our drinks in cardboard cups and then finding somewhere to sit everything chairs, tables, floor everything was dirty and grimy. There was 3 trays of used half drank and left over food on plates from previous customers. There was 2 younger ladies spent more time chitchatting then clearing away the used cups and plates picking up the rubbish or even cleaning over the tables or the dirty chairs was in dire need of a clean. Lazy staff.

Friendly staff, covid precautions in place. Love coming to Nero as the vegan cheesecake is the best dessert ever!! Accompanied with a Soya hot chocolate with vegan cream on the top makes living with a dairy free diet that little bit better!

Slow service , but great coffee and sandwich

The coffee is good and in house ambience is ok, with a selection of comfy chairs to choose from and you can watch the world go by if you sit at the front of the shop. But at present they seem to have a staff shortage so expect a queue and even if you sit in, you will be served in paper cups (As of Nov 2021), which I presume is to save washing up.

I ordered 3 different kinds of coffee and the cups wasn't 🥤 marked telling us which was which I know it only a small thing but it's the little things that make the difference

Really poor service. One member of staff looked like she'd rather be anywhere but at work. The hot chocolate tasted like warm milk and there was no mention of cream. Really disappointed.

The place is always busy and it’s in a great location but it’s let down by the service. Firstly the staff, with one or two exceptions, are completely disengaged and don’t seem to enjoy being there at all. The click and collect service, unlike the Harrogate stores, is hardly ever available. The pastry consistency and quality is poor. They know the shop is always busy and should not be running out of pastries all the time and either under or over baking them. The bathroom is awful and needs an upgrade. My advice would be spend some time at the Harrogate nero near Bettys and learn from them. Click and collect always available, happy competent staff, clean and consistent pastries.

As this branch is in our hone town we visit it on a regular basis and, certainly during the Covid era, it has been a real bonus being able to grab a coffee during our daily walks. Initially, restrictions meant that we could only have takeaways, but that was no real hardship and even now it can be an absolute pleasure to grab a takeaway and wander round to the castle grounds to enjoy the peaceful atmosphere and fabulous views. As restrictions eased, the cafe put tables and chairs outside in the Market Place and I am pleased that this practice has continued as, on a sunny day, it is a lovely place to sit. The interior of the cafe is also very pleasant and we have enjoyed consistently very good service and excellent coffee (and the occasional cake!).

We were lucky to find a table but had to go inside and ask for it to be cleared and cleaned. It was pleasant sitting in the market square on a sunny afternoon. We only had hot drinks on this occasion. It is a busy area so it is a good spot for people watching before our journey home!

Not bothered if no one comes in with mask on. Untidy. Too busy chatting. Need better supervision.

We popped in for a coffee and a cake when we arrived. Then again for a quick breakfast when we were leaving Knaresborough. Nice food and great coffee as usual.

As they are a dog friendly chain Caffe Nero are my go to coffee shop, and the Knaresborough branch is great, with lots of outdoor seating in the pretty market square. Caffe Nero's caramelatte specialty coffee is fab and teamed with their billionaire's cake is my number one sweet treat.   Today, however, I was in breakfast mode and for the first time I tried their sausage sandwich, it was one of the nicest I have ever had, almost as good as my favourite independent coffee shop!  The sausage was good quality and perfectly cooked, but the beautiful ciabatta bread was what set it apart. Definitely worth the visit.

Friendly refuge on a rainy day!

I was very dippointed with the service in Nero's Knaresborough this lunchtime the young gentleman, sadly I did not get his name, was very rude and disrespectful! Usually I have found the service to be pretty good since Nero's moved into Knaresborough! Dissapointed customer 😞

Really wish they could have decent competition in Knaresborough. They have become complacent without any competitor. Drinks, almost every time are not of the high standard of Nero, (not all the staff, but one in particular needs to be retrained in barista skills, and customer service) I for one, will not be back in there. I’ve given the benefit of the doubt, but the poor service is consistent.

I’m glad we visited this branch before reading the reviews! All I can say is that they bear no resemblance to what we experienced today - and that’s what reviewing is all about. Although we visit Cafe Nero cafes regularly, we hardly ever come here, which is strange because Knaresborough is our home town. From a decor and style perspective, this branch is fine without being exceptional. The coffee was as good as usual for Cafe Nero and the service was good. I certainly didn’t notice anything untoward re cleanliness and COVID measures. Based on the above I would normally rate this as an average branch of Cafe Nero, but its position in Knaresborough’s lovely Market Square, with outside tables available, certainly warrants an extra mark. It’s a nice place to come for a coffee.

Staff friendly and professional, the only thing I would say is that customers are acting like covid19 doesn't exist and find a seat before they order food and drinks which means my husband and I struggled to get sat down withour hot food and drinks... our experience was generally a good one though...

Cafe nero has always been my favourite place to go for coffee. The coffee house in Knaresborough is my local and it does not disappoint. All the baristas are lovely and welcoming and the hygiene in the store is very good. Love to buy my ground coffee from here also.

Visited late afternoonfor a tea.No food available and just one member of staff.How can one person clean and sanitise chairs,tables and loos regularly with Covid around. and prepare drinks?Also,nice sunny day but no tables or chairs outside so had to sit inside.

Take away only, good social distancing signage, great coffee and muffins!

Arrows on floor, staff wearing gloves, two meters apart, coffee served in take away cups, left on a side table, hand sanitazer for customers to use, one way in, one way out. Only cards payments, no tables or seats, no toilet. Easy and quick take away coffee at the times of codiv 19
