Ok, for a quick chat and coffee, it seems to struggle with staff. Staff aren't really engaging. Can be closed quite often.

Terrible customer service. On her phone. Ignorant. Coffee was horrific. I don’t expect much from Costa coffee but the experience made it so much worse.

Under staffed Costa... The young lady that was serving the line of people backing towards the stairs was very hard working and cracking on with it! How is she expected to run such a busy shop solo, really felt for her! Prime example why hard working young people are walking out of jobs when working conditions are this bad.

The Costa within The Next store was only doing take-aways due to being short staffed, so rather disappointing.

The coffee is good but it is probably the slowest costa I have ever been to. The staff are not particularly enthusiastic and it shows in their work. So if you want a leisurely coffee then go here. If you are in a hurry you'd be better going elsewhere.

I would like to mention the fantastic staff you have .very pleasant and welcoming ,I wish I could nominate for an award. The manager Martin is such a welcoming individual and makes everyone feel welcome also a lovely atmosphere.clean and tidy too .well done Costa. ❤️❤️❤️❤️

Friendly staff and act quick to prepare for coffee and food. However, not too pleasant as there was no clean tables even at the non-peak hours.

My experience at this Costa was amazing as one of the team members, Jay has done a fantastic job being on his own on a very busy morning. Well done, Jay! Will defo coming again when I will be in the area.

A young change over of staff and they were absolutely lovely. All was smiling as they genuinely enjoyed their jobs and nothing was too much to ask. The tables and chairs were constantly kept being cleaned considering how busy it was .

Great staff who're friendly and very helpful. Explained the costa cars to me very thoroughly and make fantastic drinks. Very clean and welcoming. Can't recommend this place enough.

Situated upstairs in Next, the Costa Coffee in Knaresborough is a smart cafe with everything you would expect of the chain in terms of good coffee and a decent selection of snacks. Service on our visit was a tad on the slow side, but that can be quite normal these days due to staff shortages, so I’ll give them the benefit of the doubt.

Drove out here for a coffee, it says on google its open till 7pm. Got here, the sign says its open till 7pm but was already closed at 6:30 when we got here!!! 😡 Very upset, waste of fuel! I will go to the otger one next time... Please keep your opeing times up to date!

The food was OK but the coffee was tasteless despite having an extra shot and the syrup tasted synthetic. Would only go in an emergency, i.e. caffeine hit required and there are no independents around.

Pocket Costa - everything you would expect. It is upstairs and only 2 loos.

When you go somewhere for a hot drink, it should be HOT . . . especially when it's taken a good five mins to make it.

Reason for 3 stars.coffee was not very hot and the tables were slow at beig cleared. But overall, it was ok.

Really good place to drink coffee and eat food

It was too busy to be pleasant. The staff were working so hard but there were too many tables to clear and people to serve all at once. It was regrettable that despite drinking in they gave me an iced drink in a plastic cup. They also didn't have cold brew prepared which is my favourite.

What a joke ordered from uber eats at 11am still hadn't come by 12:30pm bear in mind this is breakfast I ordered. Was only 2 hot drinks and bacon sandwich. They automatically cancelled the order themselves it was that long will never use either of these company's ever again! What a sham!!!

We came and we waited. And waited. And waited. And then left. Just one person ahead who took an age to serve. No acknowledgement from the clearly understaffed staff. No sign of ever getting served, so we cut our losses. That's it. Nothing more to say except, good luck if you go. Next!

It's probably the best coffee around at the moment for me, and are most everywhere, service is good can vary from time to time, staff are very obliging, but they need to spend more time, cleaning up the tables.

its ok, things are very expensive

Car parking camera system is a nightmare. The retail park allows 3 hour parking which is fine but has a no return policy even if you nip in and out. So if you call in to get an item (15 mins) then leave and return again for perhaps a coffee within an hour for another short visit there is a £100 fine. Total tune in car park was 24 minutes. Cost £100. AVOID this retail park.

I have been going to Costa Knaresborough for some years now and have always found the staff very friendly especially the assistant manager. In defence to some of the harsh reviews, the store is smaller than the other stores in the area and, yes, sometimes the tables may not get cleared straight away but this is due to the very high demand to purchase coffee from this store. All of the staff are very efficient and helpful and are generally worked off their feet. As for being called lovely now and again and made to feel special in a world full of doom and gloom. Is that really a bad thing? Decaf Dave

A very busy Costa cafe but run very well

Excellent service and good staff attitude to each other and customers. Breakfast was lovely porridge and wrap.

Normally I find These coffee shops to be quite bland. This place stood out because of the exceptional customer service and atmosphere. It was driven by the attitude of one member of staff. He encouraged the others, offering support to an obviously new recruit and when asked for help by another responded with “of course I can do that”. He was carried this attitude on to the customers. The cafe which was. On St James retail park already had a cue at the opening time this morning and quickly filled up. There was a very happy atmosphere.

Exceptional service from a very friendly and customer orientated young man. Knew his product and was very enthusiastic about his brand and his customers. Costa Coffee this man needs to be a trainer for your staff up and down the country, he brightened my day with his cheeriness. A credit to your company. Thank you (I visited Thur 3 Jan around 9.30am)

It's so refreshing to feel so welcome in any shop, Tom and his team really make you feel valued. The customer service in here is 6 star, me and my daughter are sat enjoying our drinks and cakes whilst enjoying listening to them chat away to every customer like they were the first they have seen today, reading the reviews on here it's not the experience we are currently enjoying. Its rammed and the que isnt slowing down but the smiles are clear on peoples faces, just wanted to share how good it is in here. We will definitely be back, I wish I could video it to show you in real time I know you would feel the joy we are xx

Possibly the worst Costa I've been to . Decor ,lighting , carpets and seating all 'tired' and worn. Frequent turnover of staff and new faces whenever I go in. There are several places nearby offering better quality and service.

Got to admit Ive had good times here but on occasions things slip a bit I would look at staff levels because sometimes you see tables waiting a long time to get cleared and it really bugs me when you got to the loo which normally needs a tidy that here is always boxes or chairs needing to be moved The food is always top notch and the menu varies but get more staff on at busy times and keep the place tidy you have a great unit but get let down

I have ordered salted caramel crunch, it taste like milk with a bit of caramel no ice or crunch on the top. When they get busy quality goes done and customers don’t matter to them. That’s would be my last time ordering anything from Costa in Knaresborough. I would give zero star if I could.

Went here on Sunday for a coffee to take away for our 2 hour journey home. I wish we’d just carried on because it’s put me off Costa for life. Tom, who told the customer in front, he was assistant manager, which in my opinion you don’t brag about your title, needs some more interpersonal skills. How on earth them staff put up with him is beyond me. It was really busy, George taking our order, was great and showed professionalism when Tom had a go at him about a couple of things. He was only using his initiative. Toms voice just grated on us, I could not have sat in and listened to him! Far to loud and made sure everyone could hear what he was saying. Having him in the queue was bad enough. Anyway, now the coffee or lack of it. If we hadn’t set off I’d have taken them back. I got a latte my friend a mocha. Both tasted like dirty dishwater. I don’t even think we had coffee in it. We couldn’t drink it. I will never be returning, especially here! I just feel sorry for the other staff as I would rate them a 5/5 especially George. Tom unfortunately lets the place down, and the so called coffee.

Costa knaresborugh st James retail park... not busy at all, all the tables dirty, full of used mugs and plates and the three staff members just talking behind the bar

We use Costa all over the UK. Unfortunately this experience was terrible. As we queued for coffee and cake Tom was on duty, taking the orders BUT, all that you could hear whilst queuing was " Hello darling", "Yes Sweetheart" ," What can I get you pet" " Cakes with that" in a BOOMING VOICE that while your sat trying to enjoy a really good coffee, and cake.

I like how this place is ambient and cosy-like, especially being inside one of the shops in the park.

Music was too loud & when I asked for it to be turned down it still was too loud. The Manager was polite & friendly.

From the moment we walked in the Barista Tom was both entertaining and helpful. The coffee was great and the kids were over the moon with the kiddie chinos. Will definately come again.

Coffee was bitter and serving area was unclean

In here at 5.15-5.30, take into account it closes at 7. I ordered tea and cake, all ok then this young lad, no uniform drags Henry hoover out, starts literally throwing chairs up onto the wide window ledge and scraping tables to one side. Proceeds to turn said Henry on which stank, as I was eating and enjoying my cuppa. I had asked him why he was doing this with customers in and an hour and a half before closing, he replies we have to be out by 7! So I knocked on the Private door and the female came out and I asked why do you need to clean up with customers in, she gave the same answer so I said why can't you do it at 6.30? I felt unwelcome and demanded my money back but received no apology and left my tea. Really really poor customer service and I for one will not be back, this needs addressing and I will be emailing their head office tomorrow.

Great friendly staff, great coffee, great atmosphere set in the market square of a beautiful quait old town that dates back to the the doomsday book.

The coffee is worse than a back street cafe, weak and no taste. Cappuccino comes with more froth than coffee, might be a coincidence but I had a bad stomach for the rest of the day

Let down again by the toilets. Fine enjoy being addressed as "lovely" by the staff.

With a Costa owned branch there are certain standards this unit is no exception they have improved immensely Tidy (nearly ) clean and tidy no table mess and the good style and quality has been implemented and the range improved There is a wait sometime but it's attached to a Next staff always on the ball worth a look

I treat myself every so often with a good drink at Costa. The view is good and the refreshments give you a lift when you need it!

Dirty is one word to use!!!! One member of staff not wearing the correct blue hygiene plaster!!! And I wasn’t the only person to spot that gem. Tables not cleared or wiped. Really costa your standards are slipping

The serving trays in this Costa are absolutely minging and filthy beyond belief. The surface of the serving trays are just black around the edges with ingrained and greasy dirty finger marks. The trays look like they have never seen soap and water. When I politely pointed out the appalling lack of cleanliness to a member of Staff, I got a shrug of the shoulders and the reply "yes I know, we could do with some more". Perhaps if someone tried washing them occasionally it would help. The Staff are touching food after handling these trays! In addition, the table top of our table was visibly dirty and sticky and most tables were left uncleared by Staff, with Customers resorting to clearing the tables themselves so that they could sit down. The window sills in this Cafe ended up littered with trays and dirty crockery etc. Not a good advert for the Costa Coffee chain. The Public Health Department of the Local Authority would have a field day at this branch. I certainly will not be going there again.

I have never been to such a grubby, untidy, dirty Costa.... ever! My husband and I had a drive out and decided to call for a coffee.

When out shopping and not sure where to grab a quick bite, rely on Costa for a great coffee and a little food to go with it. Not a tremendous choice of food but they have what we like.

Often busy mainly retired people visit weekdays has a lift bit tight in a wheelchair tables are small if there's more than 2 people.

Standard Costa fare. Quite small.

Surly staff and the kids didn't even get offered the usual flake or marshmallow with their babyccino.

Small, clean, typical Costa coffee shop. Yes, it is upstairs at Next, the clothing shop but we didn't have any problem using the lift at the rear of the shop and certainly there would be no problem for disabled / older people using this lift.

A nice clean Costa coffee shop inside a large clothing retailer. The staff are friendly and make a good coffee. The food range is typical of a chain coffee shop with pretty good sandwiches etc. Handy for people shopping in the retail park, although beware that the coffee shop is upstairs so may not be ideal for toddlers, the elderly or disabled.

Quite a nice place to relax during shopping. Only open during normal store times and unfortunately up a flight of stairs. Advised shop lift not available to members of the public. Nothing special and with the usual costa prices but a great place to head to when the memsahib is in full shopping mode. You might not be able to lead a horse to water and make it drink, but you could probably drown it in the vat that goes for a large coffee!
