Starbucks in Harrogate

Over an hour before closing time, to be told we wasn’t allowed one mug due to there being too much washing up to be done. Very unapologetic and just plain rude. Upstairs was filthy, old cups everywhere and no clean tables. Very disappointing visit.

Starbucks is our go to coffee everywhere we visit, as well as where we live. This place was filthy, even the toilet upstairs was in a disgusting state! Coffee wasn't great either! Our local Starbucks are immaculate always and we won't be visiting the Harrogate coffee venue again!

Central in town and close to the bus and rail stations, quick friendly service, can be quite a busy spot! Plenty of space upstairs though and clean / tidy during my visit. Had a nice flat white and great fruit toast.

Disappointed. Cardboard cups offered because dishwasher broken, heard that one before! Tea luke warm, fruit toast not available.

Just been in to this sot, pretty awful. Pleasant staff but dirty all over. Tables outside dirty as were the chairs. Toilets pretty grotty. Tables inside pretty awful too

i’ve given up getting drinks for the harrogate starbucks, i have been disappointed for a while now. poor quality drinks and my regular drink is always done poorly now, not to mention the facade of closing at 5.30 but actually kicking you all out extremely early, i think it’s abhorrent and definitely deterring customers who go in after work etc. covid seems to be their poor excuse for everything!

6 Members of staff working at the pace of an iron lung!! It took so long to make my drinks that my Latte was practically a cold Frappuccino by the time all of my order had been assembled, not to mention that by the time they’d got round to giving me my food, the pain au chocolate that was available when I ordered and paid, had been sold to another customer. Buck up!! Back to Costa it is!!

Had never been to Harrogate before and we had just left the hospital visiting someone on end of life. The grating we got was uplifting, polite, just the right amount of banter. It made us feel loads better ( as well as the coffee) You never know who you are serving or their story behind our smiles. Rory and JORDEN, THANKYOU, your natural customer service made our day and you out shone the coffee and that takes some doing

I usually come here quite regularly for a drink before/ after work and it is fine- service fine. However today this was the complete opposite. Whilst walking in, there were 2 members of staff presumably bringing tables in from outside. One of these members of staff gave me such a horrible dirty look, looking me up an down. This is something I’d usually ignore and not take to seriously but this made me feel so uncomfortable. He stopped what he was doing turned around to face me, I smiled back but he didn’t and continued to look me up and down. I wondered whether it was because they were closed but he did not speak or smile. I had to walk away and go elsewhere.

I checked the hours before going to Starbucks and it said they were open until 5:30pm and so I get my drink at 3:40 and at 4 pm they are closing up the seating upstairs. There is a small amount of seating outside, but like 3 tables all full. So I had to leave. I can make a nice cup of coffee or tea at home so I am really at a coffee shop to enjoy the experience of going to a coffee shop. What I am paying for is more than just a cup of coffee, it is a place to sit and enjoy it. I feel like they have lost the point. If they want to close sooner, just shorten your hours. If you’re seating area has different hours, then it should be posted online. Last time I was there both bathrooms were closed.

After a days shopping my daughter and I decided to stop for a quick rest of our legs. It was a poor choice, Whilst the staff were friendly, things seemed disorganised. We ordered 2 drinks and a sandwich and a pastry. I wasn't asked if it was to take away or sit in, so was on the assumption in the interests of the saving the enviroment my drink would be served into a mug, which I wanted, but no. Asking for the drink to be put in a mug was the start of the confusion. Then when I asked where the pastry was they had to go back through the till to check I had paid for it. And when I looked at the Steak Sandwich I had bought the packaging said serve hot. So I kept it till I got home and had it for tea. It seemed the regulars were treated to a better service. Despite this the Chai Latte was to die for.

We had mid afternoon drinks & sweet cakes. Lovely sat outside observing the bustle of this busy town. Clean & Covid conscious with comfortable seating. Thank you.

Really quick and efficient service. Two team members working were so welcoming, helpful and polite. Drink and food were prepared and handed over safely and tasted great. Lovely branch overall.

Lovely pumpkin spice latte and helpful staff. Visited as they were just closing up and they must have been tired but still tried hard and went the extra mile. Thank you.

When I used it there was very little choice of where to sit and it a bit cramped for a person with walking difficulties like myself. The staff never asked if they could carry my drink to my table like many similar cafes elsewhere. The place was a bit untidy. The drink fine, there better options for me in the town within limbing distance. The company should really locate the cafe to somewhere larger in my opinion.

I visited the Starbucks in Harrogate (Victorian shopping centre store) at 7:30 AM on the 22nd of February on a Saturday, wanting to order a venti caramel macchiato with an extra shot. I noticed there was a gentleman who I presume was one of the baristas, I simply said hello in the politest way possible and was suddenly interrupted with “we don’t open until 8 mate” My issue with this is I checked on the official Starbucks website and it said the official opening times were 7-18:00 for a Saturday secondly I felt this employee tone of voice was not very welcoming and found his customer service to be below the standard of a welcoming Starbucks employee! He seemed incredibly rude and I felt like I was an inconvenience. And he was trying to get rid of me as fast as possible! I understand the opening times have been altered to compensate for a lack of staff but there was NO SIGN DISPLAYED to give me this information! Please retrain this staff member on how to deliver good customer service, absolutely terrible customer service skills.

I have been going to this coffee shop for over 10 years and in the last six month I have been going daily so I am well aware of its issues, re cleanliness and staffing.Before the present manager, Tito, took over the place was often very dirty and the toilets disgusting along with permanently dirty tables outside. The previous manager, Will, did a great job in improving things before he moved on. Including, getting rid of a lot of some younger staff who had been giving free drinks away to friends for months.Being an 'expert' on this venue both Will and Tito have listened to my comments and suggestions and Tito is really keen on hearing customer feedback.Since Tito took over, things have changed dramatically. New staff, better organisation, better cleanliness and the best thing he has done, something I have been moaning about for years, is getting rid of the school kids who came in droves, sat upstairs or outside for hours, using the free wi-fi, making horrendous amounts of noise and leaving a terrible mess, all without buying a drink. Many of them even used to bring in drinks and food from other venues. This has all been stopped, thank god.Since that change, the place has become quieter, noise wise, cleaner, and genuine customers can get seats.However, since Tito has to go to other venues to mentor staff, standards have slipped slightly. The tables outside are my biggest gripe as they are not checked regularly and are often dirty and full of cups and rubbish - PLEASE ADDRESS! Former customers who left have started coming back and are happier to get a seat outside but no one likes to approach a venue and see dirty tables outside. It doesn't happen in other coffee venues! The cleanliness of the toilets has also slipped but this is due to staff reductions and the fact the place is very very busy. PLEASE ADDRESS!You can wait up to 10 minutes to get a drink, but it's worth the wait. Yes, you can get served quicker elsewhere but not get the same quality or range.The service from the staff is above excellent. The team are very very friendly and welcoming. I suffer from depression and P.T.S.D. as well as stress and anxiety. This venue is my 'safe place'. I get a very warm welcome every time I visit and genuine heartfelt questions about my health and about my husband. Their concern is very touching. If I am having a bad day, staff will come outside and have a chat which is very reassuring.Recently, because of lack of customers in the evenings and staffing costs, opening hours have been reduced and they now close at 6pm. This is not the staff’s fault but economics and I'm sure they will be back to regular hours when the weather gets better.Food can be expensive, when compared to other venues, but the coffee is amazing with lots of choice and options. However, the great range of cups, tumblers and other 'branded' items are horrendously expensive and I would urge senior management to review the costings. Reduce the cost and you'll sell more, thereby making more profit!I have to give my grateful thanks to the staff, including Tito, Alex, Emmy, the amazing Luke and Lill's, Eva and Harriet who do an amazing job, sometimes under very stressful conditions.Now some amazing news! The whole venue is getting a major refurb' in April, so will be even more spacious and modern.Finally, if you have a bad experience, tell the staff about it! They are eager to hear feedback and do makes changes, if it's in their power to do so.I have been to over 30 Starbucks around the world and in UK and this is the best!-

Very disappointed this week with Starbucks Harrogate. I have been in both Monday and Tuesday and both days I have ordered a venti drink. On Monday I had to ask the barrista to top up my drink as it was only three quarters full. Today I have just been in to get a hot chocolate, took the lid off as it felt light and it is only half full. If I had wanted a tall sized drink I would have ordered one and not then gone on to pay for a venti. Either only serve one size drinks or train the staff to serve correct sizes.

I’ve visited this Starbucks on many an occasion, being a local. The service is often slow, but that’s not due to the fault of the staff, as they’re often under-staffed and/or over-worked. Today, for the first time, I used the toilets. If you’re ever desperate, they’re genuinely not worth it. They’re unisex so there was urine all over the toilet seat (I’m a female) and I was unable to use any of the toilet roll, as it was locked away. It’s a shame that this business fails to recognise the fact that they have hardworking individuals who do their best for customers, yet are unable to comprehend the important of cleanliness and the facilities that their customers would need to use.

Nice gingerbread latte, same old same Starbucks, nothing to rave about. Ample seating upstairs, typical queue to order etc Buggy parking area provided, if your lucky to squeeze in the door in the first instance.

Fab experience as always, this time from Lils and Luke. Nothing is too much trouble and it’s lovely that they talk to you, not just because they feel obliged. Working in a customer facing role myself, I appreciate the consistent level of great service they maintain in this shop, even at their busiest. Shout out to Emy as well who makes my staple order as soon as she sees me walk in xox

They shut searing early so don’t expect a seat an hour before they close. Don’t expect clean tables either. Avoid where possible- desperately in need of refurbishment and cleaning.

Niomi, a hard working Starbucks employee, makes delicious Oreo frappes and I highly recommend you try one. She always has an inviting smile and a friendly persona which draws me back every time. My friend would also like to mention he ordered a strawberry donut frappe which I cannot shut him up about!! A love heart next to my name on my cup always adds the personal touch - Niomi takes service with a smile one step further.

As a widespread chain brand this store is right in the centre of town, good for a coffee on the go, with mostly quick service -busy meal times being busy everywhere in town it seems! Equally good to sit upstairs with the aircon atmosphere. Ive seen older reviews and see more attention is now being paid to keeping it clean which is great and the staff are friendly and polite Selection and availability seems generally to be very good despite occasional hiccups with their chain allocation delivery system. Starbucks app pay not working at time of visit.

OMG, was on a shopping trip to Harrogate yesterday and decided to have a coffee. Went in and ordered and decided to use the restroom - absolutely disgusting. The door hardly locks, would appear not to have been cleaned for a long time! Will not be back.

Good to go in and grab a nice coffee and a snack, but cleanliness can be an issue depending on the staff on shift, and whether they go round to check if tables need cleaning or if they are too busy. Some days the stock is low so there is not much choice of items, especially sandwiches and cakes. Some staff need some customer service training and more awareness of their surroundings, visitors don't really want to see them standing around chatting to their mates or moaning about Starbucks or their rotas and working conditions, which we have overheard on numerous occasions. Part of life but perhaps not in front of the paying customers?

Place is looking decidedly rough. Toilets a disgrace. The customers and the staff deserve a better environment. Go elsewhere for a better experience. I cannot recommend this as a place for a decent coffee.

This is the first time I have visited a Starbucks and have had cause to be disgusted. The young woman who served me was less than friendly and spoke to be as if I were something that had crawled out from under a stone rather than a paying customer. They didn’t even bring the sandwiches, cakes etc. to the table, we were told to wait at the counter until they were ready, so you can add lazy to the list of faults. We should have walked out then and there. The tables were filthy as was the toilet. I visited with my husband, adult grandchild and young grandchild, Our sandwiches had obviously been rushed when being toasted as they were only slightly tepid, warm bread and fillings not good. The cheese in mine had not even melted at all. As we were on a break in North Yorkshire I could not be bothered to put in a complaint at the shop which would have spoilt our day. I find it difficult to believe that a global company seems to have done nothing to rectify the problems at this coffee shop, nor it seems have they bothered to respond to those who have taken time to review this establishment. I only wish I had read reviews before we visited. No wonder the place was practically empty. I would definitely NOT recommend this establishment and hope Starbucks sits up and takes notice of what certainly is a bad apple in the barrel and sorts out all the problems that exist at this shop. Do not visit here, it really is awful.

American-based coffee chain. Products as expected and service a bit slow. Crowded, so obviously a hit with locals and tourists. Managed to get a seat inside on this rainy afternoon to enjoy a coffee.

Good coffee, tasty snacks and the staff are polite and helpful. But, this branch of Starbucks is looking tired and needs some work. There are nicer places to have a coffee in Harrogate.

I went to Starbucks for some where to sit. The tables were a discrase. I have never seen such a messy restaurant in my life. First and last visit

This cafe was so dirty! The table had not been cleared and the tops and chairs were really dirty Not impressed at all Drink ok but put off by the surroundings Needs a deep clean!

Visited this store today when I was in Harrogate today and the staff member who served me was friendly. The staff member who served my know that I had my own cup instead of asking if I was buying it like the Coney street store in York. This store is more better than the Coney Street store because the Staff member who was upstairs cleaning up was friendly and help to another customer which is good and the staff made sure that the tables were kept clean. The toilets in this store are very clean compared to the Coney street store. It was very good how the staff member apologized to a customer saying that there had to put there drink in the next size cup because there ran out of the size there asked.

A very disappointing experience. A cramped, dark and cold place. The downstairs toilet was not pleasant either.

Always a warm welcome, clean and tidy with smooth and efficient service. The standards and quality are normally fautless.

Staff really not interested in serving you or helpful at all. Tables very dirty, place fill of noisy groups of teenagers and furniture poor quality. Very disappointing. Coffee not up to scratch.

Visited the Starbucks store in Harrogate today 09/11/2017, I wish we hadn't. The staff are pleasant but the place is very very dirty. Tables both inside and outside were filthy. The shop floor was very dirty and the stairs were full of dust. The door and windows looked as if they hadn't been cleaned for a long time. If this is the appearance of the store we dread to think what the food preparation areas are kept like. Avoid.

Upstairs empty of customers but tables full of cups, 3 people in but couldn't find an empty table! Not sure what the staff were doing.

I have never been to such a dirty coffee shop. I visited yesterday and thought I would go back this morning just to see if it was pressure of work or an oversight but I was wrong, the place was still in the same disgusting state. I had coffee outside because I could not bare to be inside, the tables are filthy, there is litter all around the tables and generally the staff are so not interested in anyone or it would appear, anything. I suggest whoever is managing this franchise should have a serious think about staff and food hygiene standards. There are plenty of other coffee shops in Harrogate to visit - chose somewhere other than here.

Middle of a Saturday afternoon...one person serving and one making the drinks. The queue has almost formed a full circle. I'd review my coffee if I ever get it. Get a grip Starbucks!

Very poor service. Lack of interest and verging on ignorance. Won't darken the door of this substandard coffee house again.

Good location to crack on with some work / reading. Friendly staff and fairly short queues, order a tall Pike Place for £1 and you will be upstairs working away within 5 minutes. Cracking value.

Nearly every table was full of dirty cups, tables hadn't been wiped in a month, behind the bar was minging, kids working there were more interested in each other and where they're off for lunch than serving customers. For the price you pay its very disappointing.... Been to many Starbucks and yes they do get busy but this was beyond a joke.... Run by 16 year olds.

Nothing to distinguish this from other Starbucks. The whole chain charge an exorbitant amount for coffee. There are far better coffee places in Harrogate but what can you say. This place is just like the other Starbucks round the Country.

Visited 2016-08-14. Purchased two venti hibiscus iced tea. Quality was normal for Starbucks. Seating was crowded inside, so we sat outside. Found many tables were not cleared. Staff was attentive.

Popped in with my husband after shopping in this great shopping town. Although it was busy, we were dealt with quickly and efficiently. Coffee, as ever, perfect - because we are of the older generation, we generally stick to what we know well, hence we ordered two lattes. Very pleasant and smooth as were the staff that helped us too. As I am in a wheelchair I have to use coffee houses with no steps and ones that have disabled facilities - as do Starbucks. The place was fairly full with all ages of people from the elderly to wee babies in prams. All in all people were chatting and obviously feeling very happy

I joined my wife for coffee and I had a doppio (two shot) espresso and it was nice and smooth (no hint of bitterness like in some cafés).
