Food was cold, tasteless ( except for the abundance of grated carrot) with soggy chips underneath it all. There were four of us and we all left our food. Miserable experience all round.

We order I am doner once every two weeks, unfortunately each time we get a different meal consistency. One meal is large, next one small, furthermore too much sauce followed by no sauce at all. I will not fault taste but amount and sauce varies extremely each and every time. One week meal large next a tiny portion.

Order completely wrong. Again. Mixed diner rice box becomes rice, carrot and tomato. For over £10. Limit you to using Facebook Messenger only for contact and I don’t use Facebook. Don’t just check the ticket in the order, checks what actually in the boxes. Won’t go again which is a shame as the food is tasty.

The most amazing rice box ever! Gorgeous, a bit of everything. Very tasty I couldn’t fault it. Will definitely be having it again. Large portion and good value.

The food is lovely, but of the 4 dishes we ordered 3 were wrong. It seems that they may have not had any Halloumi on the date ordered as two dishes were missing it (and one had paid for extra Halloumi). The other dish was supposed to have chicken (Chicken Street Cart Fries), but had doner meat and a couple of chicken ‘bits’. Clearly if the ingredients aren’t available a decision is made to crack on with whatever is available regardless of whether the person ordering it can eat the ingredients or what’s been requested and ‘paid’ for. Not good enough as no attempt was made to communicate the issue.

Very disappointed. We normally love I Am Doner, but probably now won’t go back. Ordered two house specials and sweet potato fries for nearly £40. Took ages to make (ok, can forgive that) but got home to find both kebabs only contained doner meat (as opposed to the doner, chicken, halloumi and falafel as advertised). In addition one of the kebabs was a third grated carrot and red cabbage). Did “contact us” on the internet with no response. Very poor.

I asked at the counter if I could pay with cash. I was told no, and I had to use the machine to order, fair enough. It was as I was leaving that I glanced back at the menu above the counter. The price on the menu was £7.99, but I paid £9.49. Is the menu out of date, or am I paying extra through the machine for some reason? Comments would be appreciated.

Ordered via Deliveroo. Estimated 30-50 mins. Order turned up after an hour and a half (driver was sat in the shop waiting for the order). No explanation, no apology. When it arrived, bread was soggy and tasted undercooked. Filling was wet with no texture and the fries were clumped together stone cold. It’s not cheap but it’s not good either. Save your money.

Went in and ordered 1 portion of Street fries and it took them 45mins to do it... 45mins!!! I wasn't the only person in there getting annoyed, and every time you asked how long it was going to take, they just kept saying 10mims. I get Fridays can be a busy night, but if you are getting that much slammed where a few chips with some donner on top takes you 45mins! Turn off your delivery machines until you catch up.

I am Doner used to be great. The most delicious kebabs in town by a country mile, a great experience when ordering whether in the shop or online. But something has changed in the last couple of years. The bread is no longer as soft, pliable and fresh as it once was. It now splits/cracks letting the filling spill out. And not just occasionally, the past 3-4 kebabs I’ve had from here have been like this, and it’s been the same for friends who have recently ordered. They have also made their ‘large’ size smaller, and it is now only slightly bigger than the regular size, and definitely not worth paying extra for. I queried it with them last year and they lied to me, saying that “We are sorry to hear about your experience last night. Our large kebabs are not bigger in length but should be rammed nice and full with extra ingredients”. I have attached a photo of what their old ‘large’ kebab size used to look like compared to the regular - you can see how much longer it used to be. In the other photo, you can see how much the bread now splits. Not a good experience at all. Lastly, and I know others have mentioned this, but they consistently get orders wrong. Numerous times I’ve opened my chicken kebab at home to find it is filled with doner meat, or I’ve ordered a large and they’ve only made a regular. If you do order from there, I’d recommend collecting and checking your order before you leave because there seems to be a complete absence of care when it comes to getting your order right. I just cannot recommend it at all in its current state. If they went back to their old operating ways pre 2020, then I’d be back in a heartbeat, and if they were getting orders right then this page would be full of 4 and 5 star reviews. Those kebabs were the best you could get. But, as things currently stand, it just isn’t what it used to be.

Terrible customer service, man who served us was so rude muttering things under his breath and swearing when any orders came through! Every time we go it seems the order is wrong, or something is missing! It is also bad when you pre-order for a specific time but then are told to wait another 30 mins before it will be ready! Will not be returning! Such a shame as it used to be very good!

5 orders over the last year or so and they’ve been progressively worse. I’ve had multiple times where I’ve received no fries, I’ve contacted them to try and arrange refunds but get ignored unless I imagine I could be bothered badgering them. This last order I ordered 2 portions of fries and received 1 portion of sweet potato fries. Like I tell people that ask me if I want to “upgrade” to sweet potato fries. That’s not an upgrade and I’m damned if I’m paying for two portions of fries to get ONE portion of Sweet Potato fries. The vegan Doner has slowly got worse. The “meat” has consistently been good, the fillings, bloody awful. Gigantic pieces of red cabbage I couldn’t even cut not an awful lot of anything else. I used to love this place. Never again.

Utterly astonished at the lack of customer service and ownership of their orders. Last time half the order turned up and because we ordered through just eat we were told to go to them. So we accepted that. This time however. Ordered at 7pm. Called...

This is now the third time that we have been let down. Only one thing in our order was right, everything else was wrong. No chicken or halloumi in the chicken, doner and halloumi wrap. Doner kebab sent instead of camel. No sweet potato fries...

Very nice takeaway, good value, good vegetarian options. When in the shop you have to order from a machine though a person is there. Made very quickly. Good vegan doner "meat" - voner.

We have visited I Am Doner on numerous occasions - me and my husband are not from Harrogate so when we stay the weekend we always make a point of one evening getting a takeaway. However last night we were extremely disappointed. We waited over 40 minutes for two wraps (Doner and vegan Doner with fries) and although we were offered a free soft drink for our wait it was still an awful long time to wait, it appeared to us that the Just Eat takeaways were being prioritised. There was also a young man at the till who on several occasions wiped his nose with his hand and then proceeded to cut up bread!! Luckily ours was done before this but no staff were wearing gloves and all we're coughing and sneezing. The most disappointing and infuriating part was when we returned to our hotel and I found large chunks of feta cheese in my wrap - being a vegan this meant my food was contaminated and I couldn't eat it so it was a complete waste. My husband's Doner wrap was dripping with grease when advertised in the takeaway is how the food is not full of grease? We won't be returning and don't recommend especially if you have dietary requirements!

Isn’t the point of this that it’s quick food? From ordering (and not at peak time), it took 1 hour 45 minutes to be delivered. Food was tasty but Luke warm. whether it’s the restaurant or delivery process, it needs significant improvement before I would reorder.

What has happened to this once amazing place. The last time we ordered it took forever and was stone cold when it arrived but I thought maybe they were just having a busy day but tonight we ordered and an hour and a half later our order turns up and it’s wrong, missing chips for my daughter and my street cart fries was dried out burnt doner on rice. Tried to phone shop repeatedly but they don’t answer they just rip you off. They will not be getting my custom again. Take heed of all the terrible reviews!!

Went here the other night and my god the kitchen looked like there had been an earthquake, the music they were playing was so loud and annoying, the guy who served me looked like he was off his head, one guy was on the phone taking an order and when he put it down said “f**king c**t!” I thought that really just goes to show what you think of your customers! It’s a shame because the kebabs are really good and a big step up from a usual greasy doner. It also took about half an hour to get it and there was only 2 other customers. The lad who served me was more interested in changing tunes, I was thinking if you touch that phone one more time I’m asking for a refund, he had all the stuff to make it, I could’ve gone round and made it myself in the time it took him! Something needs to change in that place because it’s a disgrace, started off really good and has gone down hill massively. Learn some respect for your customers, stop swearing, stop blasting out really loud music (it’s not a party) and please learn how to clean as you go!! Oh and keep on making good food with the passion you started off with. I’m not going back there for a while, will come back in a few month to see if anything has improved until then I’ll just have to brave Chico’s, they are no where near as good but at least they have respect and know how to work clean. Sort it out!

I so want to give this a good review because when you can get the food it’s incredible. It’s getting the good that’s the problem. Previously We’ve ordered from just eat and we’re given a eta of 19.30 by 21.00 the food still hadn’t arrived! This time we decided to call, were told 40 min. It’s now been an hour and 10 and still no food. There seems to be a total lack of control in the kitchen and nobody’s taking charge. They all seem to blame each other for orders not being made and by everybody being offered free drinks it’s obviously a regular occurance. It’s definitely not a quick bite and if you can bare the wait then it’s well worth it sadly we’re going to now cut our losses as it’s everytime we’ve ever ordered now!

Had to shout my order so that it could be heard over the ridiculously loud music (complete with lyrics that are quite inappropriate) and did not get what I thought was ordered. Incoherent staff not quite hitting the mark in terms of customer service, but they appeared to be having a high old time. Last year I was keen to tell the staff on duty that they had served me the best kebab I had ever had, and that is still true; but now, off my list of Harrogate eateries, will not be back any time soon. The owner, with all his promising blurb, needs to get in there and get it sorted.

We have been going to I am Doner since it opened in Harrogate. It was great to have somewhere that took such pride in doing what they did just right. The past few months this place has been going down hill, rude snappy staff when you phone to place an order, longer wait times and now the quality of food is suffering. Some weeks the doner meet looks burned and tonight the sweet potato fries were awful, certainly shouldn't have been served like that!! What happened to this once great place guys??

I Am Döner is one of my go-to takeaways in Harrogate and I've had plenty of great experiences with them. This makes it all the more frustrating when they get it wrong, which has happened a few times now. Forgetting items in orders, things not being cooked well, slow service etc. As an example, tonight our order contained sweet potato fries which are usually amazing. Tonight they were burnt and some were inedible. When you pay £3.50 for some fries then you have expectations and this time they were not met. I would love to give this restaurant a more positive review but unfortunately it's too hit and miss.

Only thing going for this place is the chips and the music whilst you wait a lifetime for the food.

Eaten from here several times, slow is acceptable if the food is amazing which it generally is. 45 minutes wait is definitely not acceptable. Placed the order through the website which then crashed and wasn't accepted, tried calling but they never answer the phone so gave up and ordered at the counter. 45 minutes later had some kebabs. Now, i don't mind if they are busy but in this instance, they served their friends first (they arrived 15 mins after we did, ordered and left 10 mins before us), the staff didn't appear to be overly busy (cig breaks etc) and when we finally got the food we discovered the order was wrong. Would recommend the food but can't as the service ruins it.

The food here is really good, if you can get it! They’ve got the flavours right but service is woefully inadequate.

As the title says, the food is lovely but be prepared to wait. Majority of time if you call ahead to order you will be told the waiting time is around an hour, walk in off the street and it can vary from 20 mins to an hour. We often get takeaways from here but recently have left and gone elsewhere due to the wait time which is a shame. There has been only 2 on in the kitchen whose efficiency and ability to keep cool under the constant orders should be commended but they simply can’t turn the food orders around quickly with only 2 of them on. Staff’s foreheads/head literally running with sweat is also a put off!

Worst service ever! Rude staff, trumping in the kitchen all over the food! One of the staff went out for a cigarette in the bus shelter and came back and did not wash their hands before handling food! Just dirty horrible experience..... don’t bother with them. Serious hygiene issues.

I love the kebabs from I am Doner and prefer them tenfold over the other take away kebabs on offer in Harrogate. However on more than one occasion now i have called to pre order for collection around 20-30 minutes before closing time but with no answer. On the most recent occasion the closing time was 22:00 and so at 21:35 i was calling ahead for collection 10-15 minutes later but again no answer and the phone just kept ringing through. I walked past on my way home 10 minutes later and looked through and decided to call again. Staff just ignoring the phone! Very unimpressed and will not be back! For a start kebabs for me personally are not something to enjoy on a lunch time but usually after a few drinks a bit later on an evening so i find the closing times rather early in comparison to competitors. But this isn't the issue here! If you are open till a certain time you need to be serving till that advertised time and not have the staff ready to go home at that time. If you wish to go home at 22:00 then perhaps close at 21:00. Ensure your staff are not loosing you sales and customers by avoiding late orders in order to get finished earlier! Shame.

Absolutely fantastic! We had roast chicken in flatbread, it was out of this world ,the best we have had for a very long time. We highly recommend a visit

I really enjoyed this placed when it opened, we were loyal customers who ordered once a week. But gradually it seems to have gone down hill. It was one of the best kebabs I ever had but now the meat is burnt/chargrilled, they forgot to put any sauce on 2 seperate orders, on a few ocasiones the card machine wasn’t working so had to go to cash machine. Shame...this place had great potential....

We were thrilled to find they were open again after the fire down the block. We placed the order by phone at 4:00 for a 7:30 pick up. After shouting into the phone to be heard I was confident they had the order correct. We picked them up and discovered after we got home all four were wrong. I called to explain and ask them to remake the order and once again I could not be heard. I shouted and shouted and the lady said their phones were not very good. How do they expect to take orders?? I have tried placing them on the website but had difficulty. When I gave that feedback they said they knew about the problem and their website was not compatible with tablets. Again, how on earth are people supposed to order?! They did remake the order but were out of chicken so it wasn’t the same. Thoroughly disappointing.

Not many street food outlets provide this level of diverse ingredients and options on kebabs. I won’t lie I think it’s fair to say a lot of kebabs very much follow a set formula but this is a reworking of what has become a somewhat overworked and tired British staple food, by completely rejuvenating it and making it fresh and exciting. The feel of the the place and the service provided is equally as refreshing and these guys, you can tell take a lot of pride in what they do. I’ve had many kebabs over the years, the kebab I had from here is by far and away the best I’ve ever had and I don’t say that lightly, thanks guys. Keep up the good work

I ordered for pick up as they were busy and i wasnt disappointed. A few people were picking up orders and they were busy which can only be a good sign. Yeah ....ok... my order was a bit over the estimated time but it is cooked fresh, tastes good and the staff kept me up to date and were apologetic, I personally didn't mind it took a little longer, it isn't easy fast food, they are doing what seems to be simple food (but actually has alot to it ) and doing it well. Lots of flavours and textures, filling and affordable. I will definitely be back really soon. Great work guys

This place is our go to takeaway. Absolutely amazing food and because all the ingredients and bread are fresh, you don't feel stodgy or full like you do after a kebab at other takeaway shops. Would recommend this place to everyone!

My wife and I are both vegetarian so one tried the Halloumi kebab and the other the Voner.

Food is very tasty - lots of choice for meat eaters and veggies. Can sometimes be a bit of a wait on food so always worth ringing in advance.

I was looking for somewhere to get a hot meal without having to wait or eat in. Found this place, superb fast food, prepared by welcoming staff. Pretty healthy too if you can avoid the fries! This is a regular for me now when I am working overnight in Harrogate.

Worst kebab I’ve ever had. My son raves about this place. He said it was excellent so we went for one. Phoned in the order for two large chicken kebabs, one normal and one as hot as they could do it, to pick up in 45 minutes. Picked them up. Both were luke warm,I think they’d sat there from when we’d made the phone call. They were wrapped in a quite greasy nan bread. There was a lot of bread and not much of anything else. The chicken was tasteless and sparse. The salad was mostly carrot. My “hot” kebab just wasn’t. There was no heat to it at all. My son tried mine (he doesn’t like hot) and agreed there was no heat to it. He also didn’t enjoy his kebab and said that it’s usually better. I don’t know if they were just having a bad day but I shan’t be going back so I’ll never know.

This is an excellent kebab shop. Don’t expect a typical kebab - it’s far, far better. Very flavoursome and pretty much guilt-free. Well recommended.

We ordered for pick up last night. You could see the two gents behind the counter were working really hard between them. Our wraps were delicious and fresh when we got them home, just a shame I couldn’t finish mine as I was absolutely stuffed. So many different flavours. Definitely recommend a visit, deliver roo seemed rushed off their feet so if you can pick up I would. We will be visiting again soon .

Called up for a delivery last Sunday night, heard good things about the food from friends so gave it a shot. Unbelievable Jeff is an understatement of how good it is. I had a chicken rice box, wife had a special doner type thing. Both were excellent. Really good portion sizes and the sides very good also. Highly recommend this place, it’s outstanding value with superb food. Treat yer self!

No description on the menu, no bread with the kebab, not enough salad, no mint sauce, expensive chips. Food that was there was really nice, but won’t be eating there again.

My friend and I ordered online via Deliveroo and instead of a doner kebab I got a kebab salad box. When you look at the Deliveroo app, you can complain and they add credit back to your account however I wanted the right order so I called the shop. The guy was reasonably friendly however told me I had to call Deliveroo to ask for another driver who would then pick up the right order for me. We’d already waited around 70 minutes for our food which seems way too long for a kebab (no matter how nice it tastes!) and I didn’t feel it was my job to rectify the mistake of a delivery service that the restaurant has chosen to use.

They should learn how to serve a kebab fast fresh and hot. Hiding behind the fact they are busy but it’s horse manure.

This is an Award winking kebab shop and the quality of the food shows this. The Kebabs are just amazing with vegan and GF options.

I can’t fault the quality of the kebabs they are simply amazing. The only reason for not 5 stars is the delivery service which is currently via deliveroo.

We’ve enjoyed kebabs from here on far too many occasions and have always loved them. Great concept with zero plastic packaging, great ingredients and sensational flavours. Try the special kebab, so good. Forget everything you know or have experienced in the past regarding kebabs, these are just class. Let me know when you’re ready to franchise

Easily the best kebab Harrogate has ever seen. I had chicken and Haloumi. I don't like mayo so I had spicy chilli and it was delishhh.

Admittedly it was a “off the bus” spur of the moment let’s get a kebab thing, but I can safely say it’s probably the best late night takeaway I’ve had.

Tried to order from here twice this weekend. They couldn't take the first order due to a technical issue. The second order was accepted but then they called to say they had run out of gluten free bread so couldn't fulfil the order. Disappointed and won't be bothering again.

Having read some of the reviews I thought it was time to write my own, considering I’ve been here probably every fortnight since it opened! The people leaving one star reviews because of a wait time need to give their heads a wobble. Like another reviewer has mentioned, there is a wait time for a reason. Because the food is so damn good. If somewhere is crazy busy it’s usually because it’s worth the wait, and this place absolutely ticks that box. I understand it may be frustrating to not be able to get a delivery however the place hasn’t even been open 6 months yet so i think it’s extremely harsh to give one star reviews over that. I usually go in the early evening or lunchtime and have never had to wait more than 20 mins on these occasions. Weekend nights are obviously far busier and did have to wait about 45 mins once. It was worth waiting for! My favourite dish is the vegan seitan kebab. It has so much flavour in it and my meat eating friends say it’s delicious too - they’re the first to say if something tastes like “rabbit food”. Had the falafel too a couple of times but probably wouldn’t go for it again as the seitan is just too good! Regular fries and sweet pot fries are also awesome.

Look - it takes a while to get one. There's a reason for that. So many people want one - simple. They are trying hard. the kitchen is small and there's only 3 of them. The kebabs are undeniably the best that you can get. The Special with Falafel and 'squeaky cheese' is just out of this world. My wife hates elephant leg meat, but she loves this. A different level of food. I read earlier on that some have given 1 star because of slow service or they would not take anymore orders. That's cruel - they were obviously too busy. It happens. Take your slippers off and go and get one if you think they value their shop customers rather than their slipper customers.

I've been here a few times and normally have to go for a pint while I wait.. They've recently started focusing on less delivery I think? I didn't even have time for my usual pint!! Fantastic service. Great staff. Better music.

Got a vegetarian meat ,a falafel ,and two mixed meat ,wow gorgeous ,the veg meat one was gorgeous and would buy over a meat one the falafel bit dry , everything is clean in your mouth and total different experience to kebabs the chips are yum .

I ordered a meal through Deliveroo and I haven’t been disappointed in the past. I had a Doner Kebab and Fries which was very nice. My wife ordered a Falafel Rice Box which she was very much looking forward to. The description states it is tasty brown rice with roast vegetables, feta cheese, pickled pink cabbage, coriander covered with chill and tomato dressing. There was no roast vegetable, no feta cheese, one small leaf of coriander and no chilli and tomato dressing. It was basically what we thought was white rice, carrot and a small amount of pickled pink cabbage. It looked and tasted very unappetising and she ended up throwing over half of it away. To say she was disappointed is an understatement. It has put her off using I am Doner again.

Stopped here for a quick snack whilst out in town, got a doner rice box and a street style chips box with roast chicken. Everything was fresh and tasted fantastic.

We’ve been keen to try this place for a while; I think Saturday evening wasn’t the best time to choose. We called in to order, and were told it would be a 20-25 minute wait for food. Phone orders were approaching an hour. There were only 3 staff there, the pleasant man on orders said staff were ‘in training’. I like what they offer on the menu with doner meat, chicken, falafel, halloumi and a vegan option on either flat bread, rice, salad or chips. We both went for the mixed kebab. Inside was lots of doner meat, chunks of salty halloumi and mainly carrot with sauces. I expected the salad and roasted veg to be more noticeable, the falafel was totally missing. The bread was heavy, and didn’t seemed properly cooked. Overall though the taste was quite pleasant, and we will try it again at a quieter time, and go for just doner meat on bread or salad.

Thought I'd give this place a try after someone said it was good. I ordered the loaded doner fries with all the salad and as it says in the headline the doner meat should be the best part of the meal but it was tasteless and the fries weren't great either. The salad was the best part

I was so looking forward to trying this newish place. What a huge disappointment! I had a felafel doner, I have eaten a lot of felafel doners in my time, all over the world, so I like to think I know a good one. Firstly the durum ( bread part of the doner ) was SOO thick, which immediately means the filling has to compete with it, it shouldn’t be. The filling was a HUGE amount of grated carrot, Insipid pickled ( ?) cabbage , and most random of all a scattering of CRISPS! .I was asked if I wanted sauces- chilli / garlic mayo etc, I said yes, I could taste NOTHING, it all tasted like an old slipper, in fact disgusting. It went in the bin.

I personally have never eaten a doner kebab, having heard all the health warnings about how bad doner meat usually is (I've only eaten doner meat twice on pizzas and though the taste is addictive and a dirty, guilty pleasure, I've avoided it since cause I fear it's such junky and unhealthy meat). However, I have been to Middle Eastern takeaways for authentic shawarmas which I love and I was excited to see a new place doing doner/shawarma sandwiches.

Was told this is the only place to eat a donner sober, and I wasn't disappointed! Fresh, high quality ingredients and friendly staff. Highly recommend the house special, with everything!!

When I am a little bit tipsy I want instant gratification. 30 minutes for some loaded fries is too long to wait. Gorgeous delicious food, but come on! Fries should take 5 minutes tops.khans in Starbeck I'm sorry I ever deserted you.

You can taste the quality in this food, cooked to perfection, and full of flavour. This will 100% become my go to place
