Memorable for all the wrong reasons. We ate here during the week before Christmas and based on the online reviews we were looking forward to a treat. The only positive was that the two people who were waiting on tables were friendly. I don't usually write reviews but this was so far away from what has been described that I would hate anyone to save up for a special occasion and have the experience that we did. First of all the room was crowded which is not ideal at the best of times but there had been no attempt to make space between the tables in the way that many restaurants have done as a response to the pandemic. They even fitted an extra table in while we were there and had to lock the front door to make room for it. We opted for the a la carte menu and my husband and daughter ordered starters which arrived in good time. They described them as ok although the terrine was not as tasty as one we made at home. We waited for the main courses. My husband's plate of beef was absolutely huge but with very little vegetables to accompany it. It was nothing like the delicate presentation shown on the pictures in other reviews. My slow roasted pork was a large lump of meat with thick white fat which had not been rendered down by the cooking process at all. The flesh was cooked but very tough and tasteless. It was sitting on a bed of one carrot and one parsnip. The carrot was floppy and cold, the parsnip so raw that it was impossible to cut. Luckily we had ordered a side dish of extra parsnips that were properly cooked. We ordered puddings then we waited, and waited, and waited.. Eventually the lemon posset arrived (ok but lacking in lemon flavour) and then my sticky toffee pudding. I took one mouthful and couldn't believe what it was like. The texture was glutinous, almost like frog spawn (ok I have never eaten frog spawn but you get the idea) and yet it tasted burnt. I began to wonder whether it was just my taste buds (Covid?) but my daughter took a mouthful and confirmed how bad it was. The waitress removed it to the kitchen and came back to say they wouldn't charge for it. I genuinely have no idea how they managed to get it like that. This is not a cheap restaurant and clearly they have in the past served some good food but if you are intending to go I would advise checking what is going on and whether the chef is on form or you could be very disappointed.
Working away from home and staying in a lovely guest house up the road and we decided to go for a pint. I saw other customers food being brought out and I couldn’t resist!!!! And I was the furthest from disappointed than a fat man who loves his food could be. The roast of the day Yorkshire wrap is beyond words and I will be returning when I’m over this way again and to top it off as this review is titled? The landlady and the staff are so welcoming I felt like I’d walked in to my local not a pub 200 miles away from home!! Thank you so much and I will be back.
This cafe has gone down hill since it had new owners, the coffee was tasteless, we ordered 2 Americanos with cold milk, sent them back twice as they came as lattes, also ordered a cappuccino that was cold, shame. The staff were uninterested and miserable.

A varied menu. Delicious food and lovely service. I had the yorkshire pudding wrap with roast beef and gravy, this came with a pot of roast potatoes. Delicious and filling.
Always have treat from beeford chippy every couple weeks
Ben coming over 6 years, the start of lovely time exploring the surrounding area and coastline
I have passed this cafe many times and never visited before, always thinking it was just a 'bikers' cafe. (Nothing against bikers, used to be one generations ago)!
Today, as part of a walking group we called in for lunch at the end of our walk and we were all very pleasantly surprised.
The cafe itself is spacious, pleasantly decorated and well laid out. The staff were all friendly and efficient. And the food was all very tasty and excellent value. Including a free bowl of chips to share.
Thank you ladies.
Very welcoming and friendly staff. The pizza was amazing very tasty. lovely place to sit and drink or eat with family inside and out. Was lovely to sit in and see a knitting group and regulars visiting and looked after with warming hospitality
We had festive afternoon tea
Greeted with cocktails which were delicious
Then we were taken into the main room where all the tables were dressed to perfection
Then the food started arriving
Oh my goodness it was gorgeous and so plentiful
We were offered doggy bags which was a good job
Recently moved to Wetwang. The Victoria Inn is a very friendly pub, landlord and landlady made us feel very welcome. We popped in this evening to grab a quick pint and a takeaway from the bombay clay oven which is the restaurant/takeaway in the pub. Food was amazing, service was quick and we were given some complimentary poppadoms and pickles with our order. Would highly recommend the pub and restaurant. We will be back.
Shame the stars only go up to 5 as this place deserves more!
Lovely warm welcome when we entered (myself, Mum and Sis) by a lovely lady behind the counter.
We took our seats, which was quite amusing as we are all under 5' but we had a giggle getting up on the seats/benches which only made our visit more fun - and gave the owner a giggle too, as well as my Sis getting stuck on the chair!
Having done some research we knew what we wanted so off we go to order two Knickerbocker Glory's and one 3 Scoop Sundae (which took some deciding from the 22 different flavours!) Have to say, my KG was absolutely gorgeous - so much fruit and jelly too, not all Gelato as in other places. My Mum and Sis enjoyed their KG and Sundae too.
Was funny when the owner piped up with "That's what I like to hear - silence. It means you're all enjoying it!" to which Mum replied "It's not often we're all this quiet!"
Such lovely welcome, lovely clean surroundings, so much choice, reasonable prices, lovely creamy Gelato and a good giggle and chat with the owner - what more could you ask for?
Could be easily missed so please check out this place, you won't be disappointed.
Looking forward to my piece of Flapjack which I brought home for later - perfect ending to a wonderful Birthday :) :)
Will definitely be back :)
