Luciens Coffee lounge and Wine Bar in East Riding of Yorkshire

Having a long weekend in my favourite seaside place and found out that vaping is the thing here having witnessed 4 Young men puffing away in full yiew...

Came with family to the lounge in Hornsea for breakfast it was early 10 am it was empty apart from one couple. The breakfast was cold nothing on the plate was hot everything was barely warm, we usually would not complain just never return & we had not been for a while due to previous food being cold but we decided to try again & said this time we would return it if it was cold. Our daughter would not return hers as she did not want to wait but we returned ours, it was changed & a fresh breakfast was done. And it was hot!!! Please Mr Lucien get your staff to serve HOT food everytime

We came to Lucien’s having booked a table for 7 people at 4pm. We ordered our food the bill was close £85-£90 the service was dreadful, 3 ordered snacks, cheese garlic bread, chips & 3 the burger meals, 2 of the snacks arrived out of 6-7 we were given no cutlery or napkins we were told the rest would follow, ten minutes later we were still waiting & we had to go find a waiter to get cutlery & napkins. Finally the other snacks arrived then the burger meals, we still had a 5-10 minute wait for the garlic bread the food was not hot & the snacks were cold. The service was dreadful & food not as good as a previous trip. Couldn’t find a waiter to complain & we had waited that long we ate what was warmish & left 😔😔

A great place to go during the day or night. Reasonably priced drinks and food. Very friendly staff and a big outdoor area.

Decided to go for food & drink in hornsea as we were staying in a lodge nearby & due to never eating out in Hornsea before I had no idea where to go so we went to Luciens as online the food looked really good & to be honest the food was alright. Me & my partner both ordered the lucien burger however my bun was mouldy which did not impress me. The staff were very apologetic though and my partner received a free pint which was much appreciated & they made me a new fresh burger. Had a drink with the food but then left. Overall I was impressed with the staff with my complaint but I would not return again.

Having a walk around Hornsea and called in for a drink, decided to have something to eat. We all had a wrap which were very good. Beer was very nice.

Upon arrival, having booked a table for 10 people, we were told to seat ourselves wherever. We had to build our own table, as none were big enough. Then, now seated, we looked through the menu. There was no outright vegan options, but there was a couple of vegetarian options which could have been easily adapted e.g. no coleslaw. Other people in the group wanted to make small changes to their food too, take items out of a burger or no sauce in a wrap, and we were told that this was not possible. The menu was the menu and that was it! And if we didn't like it, we could go elsewhere. So we did. On top of all that, they were severely understaffed for the size of the place. I would advise everyone to avoid this place.

Fast becoming my favourite place in Hornsea. Always clean and the staff are excellent. You never wait long to be served. In particular have to commend Hannah and Aaron who always do that little bit extra. It would be good to see some more plant based options on the menu, mind you the falafel wrap is excellent.

Great bar but it’s a pity the chef decides to close the kitchen 40 minutes early with no announcement. Went to order food at 8:20pm last night after drinking a bottle of wine between us and was told they’d closed the kitchen because not many people were ordering. Table next to us also left after getting the same message at the bar. Shame as it’s a great place.

Went here (now called the lounge) for lunch when visiting Hornsea. Table dirty wiped it myself with tissues. The dark haired waitress very miserable. The ladies toilet out of order so had to use the disabled toilet. The crockery and teapot were stained. We noticed everyone else who ordered tea had a pot of hot water. We had to ask for one and received a scowl. We wouldn’t have been able to drink the tea without the hot water as we like weak tea. The blonde girl who took our order was so different and was friendly. My husband said the burger was nice and he enjoyed it. My nachos were just o k with just a sprinkle of cheese on the top so a bit dry. We were going to order a sweet but decided to leave instead. Wouldn’t go again if in Hornsea.

We came here to watch a friend's band play on a cold November Saturday evening. Not knowing what to expect, we were surprised that the place was large, with plenty of room, comfy chairs and a very relaxed vibe. Opting for cocktails, we slowly worked our way through the menu and sat back and relaxed to listen to the music, chat and catch up

We visit this place most Monday evenings before we pick up our takeaway and the service given to us by Bonika is second to none! She has come to know us and what we drink to the point as soon as she see's us at the door she starts to serve our drinks which we are very impressed with! She is lovely and friendly and never just stands around doing nothing, she always finds a job to do and clears tables as soon as the customer has gone. With being in the industry myself I find this very refreshing and we will continue to visit.

I have now been twice to this restaurant, both times served by the same lady. The first time i was with the girls, the second with the family. Both times we were greeted with a lovely smile, both times, the service and the food was great, and both times, the same greater/bar lady/waitress served us, i asked her name, (Donna), i think she said!, I asked is this your place or do you just work here. Her reply was i love this job, I've been here about 5 years now. This lady is so friendly and welcoming, and makes the atmosphere fab. I really did think she was going to say she was the owner, she puts so much effort into her job, i hope who ever does own the place knows her value. I'll be back, with both the girls and my family, and i think i'll be buying Donna a well-deserved drink too. She never stopped both times we were there. Thank you Dona, hope you are there next time we come. Caz x

2nd visit to luciens while on holiday near hornsea great food and value for money..pizzas and burgers all cooked fresh and enjoyed by all the family would and will recommend Lucien to anybody visiting hornsea...👍👍

3rd time we've called in on a Sunday really love this place so relaxed atmosphere . Food is always great staff always happy in their work can really recommend it.

We have visited loads if times over the past 6 months or so with our Labrador, staff alway great and friendly. Yesterday we went in -no signs saying dogs not welcome inside- first to be told need to sit at back, near doors, great, no problem, then when hubby went to bar to be served, he was told dogs not allowed inside anymore, rule change that day!! By bald chap behind bar. Even a barmaid at the side of him questioned him. Even if dogs are not allowed, why were we told to go to back at first and your signs need updating as states dod friendly on door.

Visited on 3/08/21 and again on 04/08/21. Lovely place. Ordered food on both visits and it was lovely. The best thing though about this place is the staff. Two lovely young girls who are pleasant, polite and smiley. Well done girls!!

The food was lovely, cooked perfectly and tasted delicious. The downside however was the service, the restaurant was quiet only us and 2 other couples, yet it took us nearly half an hour to get the attention of a waiter, along side this the starters and main course were brought out at the same time. Although the food was nice I’d be unlikely to eat here again.

The staff are a credit to the business, first class service. Highly recommend the pizzas. Had a great evening.

What a fantastic find, Donna you went above and beyond, great service very friendly plus all covid safe without being over the top. Lovely secluded garden which we used given it was an great sunny day. Would highly recommend to anyone. Hope to revisit one day. (Sorry for late review Donna lolol) 😁

Visited recently during lockdown as we’d just arrived in Hornsea and were starving. It was literally 2 minutes to 8pm, the time they stop serving food. The young lady maitre d not only took pity on us, she found us a covered table outside and we had drinks immediately and delicious pizzas served within 20 minutes. What a wonderful experience in the circumstances. We will definitely return.

Visited here with my partner - didn't have food as was booked at different establishment. But came for a couple of drinks first. They have a plentiful cocktail menu for which we had to sample. AmazingSpoke to a couple members of staff who where all very friendly and polite. All social distancing measures where in place and it appeared the owner was there to ensure this was being put in place.

Haven’t been here since October 2019 so wasn’t sure what to expect. Nothings changed, absolutely brilliant! Covid friendly, staff happy, helpful and friendly. Drinks reasonably priced! I can’t wait for summer nights in the beer garden. Thank you!:)

Always had a really nice experience in Lucien's. Lovely, friendly happy staff and food is great whilst having a drink. Always an amazing atmosphere in there too. A really lovely beer garden to sit in and it holds the sun all afternoon.

My husband and I had a lovely meal at Lucians in October. The staff were very helpful and first class when it came to being Covid aware! I would recommend this wine bar to everyone. Thank you

Food wasn’t very nice we ordered a pizza. The cutlery was dirty with food on it, we asked for new and we got other dirty cutlery and dirty plates. The pizza was plain and just not nice. I wouldn’t recommend tbh.

Visited this week, Tuesday eat out to help out. Staff were lovely, really helpful and the food was great. A plus for me was also that they have Blue Moon on tap. Definately recommend. Thank you.

Called in here and it has to be the best place to have a get together in Hornsea great atmosphere and friendly staff and a wide choice of different beverages and beers .

love, love going here, great coffee, food & the best pint of John Smiths in Hornsea, but best of all is the warm welcome from Donna when you go through the door, always smiling, great service & makes you feel so welcome 10/10

We had a meal at Luciens today with our two teenage children, one of whom is autistic. I had messaged the restaurant via Facebook earlier,to find out they did take out, as eating in is often too difficult for our family. They really couldn't have been more helpful! After confirming that they do indeed offer take out, they offered to reserve a quiet table at the back, and turn the music down, if we would like to try eating in. They even said if the boys found it too difficult, they would happily pack up our food to take it out. We decided to try eating in and we're very glad we did! Nothing was too much trouble, the young lady who served us was absolutely lovely she happily let the boys take all the time they needed to choose their food, and then eat it. In a world where it is often hard to get people to understand that your children have extra needs, and are not just being difficult, Luciens of Hornsea, you are like a breath of fresh air!! Well done and please keep doing what you do.....oh, and I almost forgot, the pizza is amazing!!The Brown family

We were looking for somewhere to have a drink and a bit of a night out. Other bars in the area did not appeal but this place was similar to a few bars we know in Newcastle. Drinks were a decent price, for example there was a cocktail deal on, and it had a nice vibe to the place. Could maybe have done with a DJ or some slightly louder music but a decent place to have a couple of drinks in a small seaside town.

We popped in for morning coffee and were surprised how extensive Luciens is! Apart from plenty of indoor seating, there is a large covered patio/seating area out at the back, and then a beer garden beyond. This was popular with families. As it’s called a ‘coffee lounge’ we anticipated a flavoursome cup of coffee, but it was rather ordinary. However it was served with a smile and the staff were welcoming to each of the customers.

We went here last night while we was staying over night in Hornsea .At first it looked small until we went to the back and there was a large beer garden which was beauifull. We had a drink and because we felt so relaxed we ordered food , we ordered garlic bread and a veg pizza and wow it was excellent never have I tasted a pizza in a pub that tasted so good . If I lived in hornsea this would be my local , well done to all the staff you are all doing a good job.

Our visit was early evening on a Saturday and while people had begun their weekend fun, we still felt comfortable with children having our pizza based dinner. We had the Cairo, Melbourne, Margeurita and vegetable pizzas, stone baked and all were delicious. Service was courteous and attentive. We ate indoors at a banquette /chairs table. Tables at the front have low chairs for socialising. There is also outdoor seating both under cover and in a garden area. Dogs may be taken to the outdoor seating. Thank you for a lovely meal.

My daughter and I visited Lucien's and sat in the large rear garden. There were a wide variety of people here and had a very relaxing feel. As it backs onto a large park there was a feeling of being in the countryside.We ordered vegetarian pizzas which were delicious and good value for money. I actually repeated a home made version of the brie and balsamic drizzle .Very wide range of drinks including jugs of cocktails.There was a cat and a dog in the garden which was nice to see.Excellent service from young polite staff....will be back again as a family very soon.

We called in to the bar mid afternoon on Friday this week. We wanted to check outdetails of the Open Mic etc and enjoyed a couple of halves whilst watching thecricket on the large screen dotted around. It was a great atmosphere, lots of localscalling in and meeting up. I met a friend here another time for coffee and the knitting groups were in, it was again very friendly and everyone seemed to be chatting to each other! What a great addition to Hornsea Bars and lovely décor and again, so clean, well done, thanks to the lady on the bar she was so helpful getting the information we needed and looking forward to a great evenings music and meeting new musicians locally. It's so nice to have upbeat folk in nice surroundings working and welcoming us locals, thank you all!

Visited recently and food was very good and service was excellent - we was served all night by Charlie who did an excellent job - overall excellent will be visiting again soon

We called in here to drink the excellent local Wold Top real ales. Quite busy (Sat of Bank Holiday weekend), but tables at back and outside.

This is a lovely place, clean, friendly and not too expensive well worth a visit. Its easy to get to and the staff are first class

We ate here on our finally day, the pizza was good and the beer was cold and reasonably priced. There was also a good atmosphere in the establishment. I recommend the Mexico City pizza, I've also heard the burgers are good.

Visited numerous times whilst in hornsea with our two small children.they dont do a massive menu but what they do do is fresh and beautiful,best fresh hand made pizza.

Really good range of homemade pizzas, including several veggie versions too. The kids pizza's are just as big as the adult versions! Just enough choice on the menu for most tastes, but not too much variation means they can concentrate on getting what they do serve, done well. Tasty, filling and clearly freshly made. Nicely laid out venue with large beer garden which has some undercover seating too. I'm looking forward to going back next time we visit Hornsea.

Just popped in for a drink. Bar lady is lovely, very friendly. Lots of choice behind the bar. Several TV's with sport and the music videos of the easy listening music playing. The outdoor area is much improved since the last time I visited, very smart and undercover with heating and another TV. This is a lovely chilled out place with comfy seating and quite spacious. Toilets are clean and tidy.

My wife and I call in here when were in Hornsea, We have had the pizza's here and they are great, Fantastic selection of beers and wines, and always a good atmosphere, staff are always helpful.

the most up to date bar in hornsea and a lovely out door area with heated lamps so you can always have sit outside, amazing range of drinks and lovely staff, very clean and finesse for hornsea. it seems to be the backbone of horn seas night life, a very important bar that shouldn't be overlooked!

Not had food here but been in a few times for drinks. I love the cloudy cider. The staff are very friendly to everyone and help create a good atmosphere. Plenty of screens if you want to watch sport. Surprisingly large beer garden.

Luciens Coffee Lounge and Wine Bar is the perfect place to meet up with friends and have a drink. The cozy atmosphere draws people in. The delicious food makes people stay. There is an outdoor beer garden but it was chucking down rain when I visited, unfortunately. I am sure it's lovely.

Great night out, great fresh food, great atmosphere, happy friendly staff, will be going back again.

A welcoming and nice place to visit and spend time in. A nice alternative to a pub. Great to be able to get a coffee too. The only thing I don't like is that the crisps on sale, the last couple of times I've been, have been multi pack crisps, not to be sold separately? Just seems a bit cheeky really.... might have been a mistake on their part, hope the next time I go, I can get a proper size packet! I've not eaten a meal here, hope to one day.

After a poor reception from the Victoria we headed to Lucians where we were most welcomed, as always great food, good atmosphere and lovely place

Having been regular diners at Med-Mex, we decided on a change of scene this weekend and, after months of saying "we'll have to try the food at Luciens" we decided to give it a try. We weren't disappointed.

Fantastic place for an evening wonderful stuff organised and well run business had many a good night off and have a local bands playing We had my sons wedding reception there and it was fantastic in the garden also recently had a reunion could not have found a better venue

looks medium sized from the main road but goes right back and then there is a large beer garden out the back. was nice to sit in on a nice warm evening for pre-tea-drinks, could hear choir practice from the church next door!!

We nipped in to kill time whilst waiting for a bus back to our caravan site and what can I say... Great atmosphere, friendly staff, a cheap round of drinks (2 adults and 3 kids) and an absolutely stunning beer garden. I wish we lived closer it would definitely become my local I could have sat in the beer garden all day it's so peaceful I just wish we'd found it sooner, however that being said we will be back in August so we plan on making a few more visits then.

Had a meal out on 29/07/2016 with 4 friends,we had 2 pizza/ & 2 burgers between us everything was spot on.Staff very pleasant,recommend pizza stone baked very tasty.

Visited mid-week with my husband and daughter for an evening meal during our stay in Hornsea. This place is quite a walk down one of the main roads leading away from the sea front, but keep going - it's worth it!

Called in to Luciens for a drink following on from a superb meal in the Medmex higher up Newbiggin in Hornsea. A very modern classy city centre bar eaterie that fits very well into this cosy seaside town venue. The layout is spacious and well decorated, the bar well staffed and stocked, and a veryvwarm welcome is given, good prices too. There is a fabulous outdoor area and garden and they serve meals as well, we will definitely be back and try more ,brilliant bar.

When we first started visiting Hornsea 2 yrs ago this bar had no character and was a one drink bar, well wow! We called in last week and the place is totally transformed with loads of tv's showing mainly sport, a great menu of burgers & pizza. It is now a great bar one I could easily spend a night in. Plus there is a great outdoor seating area with heating for those chilly nights.

We just had a drink here but found it friendly and the service was good , looking at the menu there was a selection for every body

What a excellent evening at luciens, we ordered nachos and one of there classic burgers which arrived very well presented and they were absolutely delicious, no much so that we ordered another plate of nachos, my fault really as I should of got the sharing platter in the first place.
