The best restaurants in South East Holderness East Riding of Yorkshire Yorkshire and The Humber

We stayed nearby in Withernsea for a week and we had planned one of our teas would be fish and chips. When you are that close to the seaside it would be rude not to have Fish and Chips. There are quite a few Fish and Chips shops in Withernsea which was quite a surprise. We did a quick Google search and The Golden Haddock had some good reviews so decided to give it a go. When we arrived the staff were friendly and asked if we needed anything frying, which was good as you know your order was going to be freshly made. We originally wanted a couple of large fish, but they only had medium in stock, this was not an issue. We ordered Fish and Chips X3 and a fish. All with scraps. This was to feed 4 adults and two children (aged 3 and 6). The portion size was very good! The fish was amazing. Best batter I have had in a long time, the fish was fresh and tasted amazing. Again the chips were amazing. Really can't fault the service and the food. If we visit Withernsea again this will be top of our list of places to eat.

Great food as always, great service from Gareth, James, Donna and the team. James very attentive to how you are and how the food is. Highly recommended if in the area!!!!! Also had a takeaway carvery today, again was great food !!! Quick delivery too. A++++

Went for lunch, enjoyed the varied menu. Excellent coffee (with cream), enjoyed scones with clotted cream, apple pie with custard. Very nice, charming staff, popular place. Will go again next time I visit from 🇨🇦.

Booked in for lunch then service from the girls was above and beyond, polite and very helpful they were amazing, sadly there was an incident which was no fault of the waitresses which was dealt with in front of me nothing to do with our service and the owner was so out of order with the way he dealt with it talking down to these young girls was an absolute disgrace he should be ashamed of him self. Thanks to the waitress you were amazing and did a fantastic job . Regards Steve .

We sampled the Christmas dinner menu today. The meal and the service were brilliant. I had the Beef option and my wife had the Turkey pie. Good portions with extra veg if required. Everything was hot, perfectly cooked and very tasty. We will be back! Thank you.

Wow the food here is absolutely delicious and all freshly made. Can't fault anything here, staff were really lovely and the cafe is spotless. We will definitely be back the next time we are in the area. A hidden gem.

We had festive afternoon tea Greeted with cocktails which were delicious Then we were taken into the main room where all the tables were dressed to perfection Then the food started arriving Oh my goodness it was gorgeous and so plentiful We were offered doggy bags which was a good job

Popped into Withernsea after visiting ‘The Deep’ and decided on here after reading good reviews. And wow it was the nicest fish & chips we have had for a very long time. Just over £30 for 2 large haddock/cod and chips a children’s meal and 2 hot drinks and a juice. The fish was huge, even on my daughter’s children’s meal. The staff was lovely and very attentive too and a welcoming atmosphere. We will be back in the summer.

My Wife and I stayed for one night 01/05/2024 in a double room at the Alexandra. We booked a week earlier Room Only by telephone without having to pay until we arrived, which was appreciated has we did not have means to make any payment at the time of the booking. The Hotel is situated in the centre of Withensea close to the beach and all your need is close at hand, Pubs, Food shops etc. Upon arrival the staff were very helpful and showed us to our room, Once settled we went down to reception area in the bar to pay for the room. The room we occupied was self contained very well presented with towels , fresh bedding and tea coffe facilities and very clean. It was our first stay here and we will return again and can recommend it to any couple or single party looking for reasonable priced accommodation in Withernsea, we was informed future plans they are hoping to include a breakfast . Thanks to all at the Alexandra Withernsea a very enjoyable stay.

Delicious local Chinese, good portion sizes

Hiden Gem . We had Large Haddock chips and peas x 2. Came to £21.20. the fish was excellent, chips were very good and the mushy peas were the best we have had for a long time. 10 out of 10. Definitely visit again

Discovered this gem while exploring Patrington in September. Menu limited due to Covid restrictions but homemade sausage roll and delicious Baileys cheesecake filled the gap. Local cask ales also available. Would recommend a visit if you are in the area.

Would have given 5 stars if not for the long wait to be acknowledged at the counter. 3 Staff members busy but NO ONE making eye contact or acknowledging us at the counter. After waiting several minutes started to time the wait - over 7 mins without a word or glance from the staff! when we were served, lovely meal, very reasonably priced, Can understand why it's popular.

Food home cooked & very nice but the stew & dumplings needed more taste bit bland. Cakes delicious 😋 not much space as dining rooms lead off each other, lovely staff, will visit again when weather's warmer & sit outside.

Friendly pub with good beer at a very reasonably price.
